decent little pho place on 17 ave. The broth in the pho had a nice flavour and the satay was delicious and the perfect spice. Nothing overly fancy but a nice bowl of soup when you want something warm and satisfying
The service and the food are second to none. The owners are very nice people who run a clean well managed business. I only eat phô here. 5/5 would recommend to all of my friends
Well this place has gone downhill unfortunately. I used to eat here years ago and it has changed. Seeing only 5 people eat here during lunch yesterday bolsters my argument. 1. Noodles were real dry. 2. Pork was dry and tasteless. 3. Shrimp balls were alright but not much taste. 4. Pretty small portion.
I love supporting local and small shops but there are literally hundreds of Viet restos to choose from in this city. And many just on 17 ave se alone!
My personal favourite spot for vermicelli in forest lawn/Dover. They also have the best dumplings, even though I know this isn't really traditional, they are a must have!
I frequent here and the owner knows my order :) always a nice touch.
OH my god tiger prawn sub. Amazing!!! She said she makes the garlic mayo homemade. To die for and crave for the rest of my life... Sigh. You had me at "homemade mayo"..
I am a frequent customer at this restaruant and I absolutely love it. The staff is so incredibly nice and friendly, the food is amazing and well priced. I would reccommend this place to everyone I know
Nice Noodle house!. Definitely enjoy Pho and Banh mi (Vietnamese sub)! Dish no 22 is special dish in house that I will come back for more!
Great broth. I've been to Pho 88 probably half a dozen times now and I always try to push myself into ordering something other than their beef sate pho... and fail. The broth is so full of flavor with a good helping of beef, noodles and the other usual ingredients. Great soup, great price, definitely recommend if you're in the area.
Great food with affordable price. Very good sate beef pho and spring rolls. Pho 88 also offers their own signature bun (vemicelli) that comes in number 22 with shrimp springrolls (unique of this restaurant), grilled pork, shrimps and grilled pork paste. Banh mi (Viet submarine) is very tasty and filling. The presentation might not be that great but the food quality is excellent.
One Of The Best In Town. I have been eating at Pho 88 for a year or so now, (maybe 20 times). Excellent food, great, fast service, and under $10. I have had Bun and Pho from over 100 vietnamese restaurants, and have managed 2 of those myself, and I would say Pho 88 is near the top. Spring rolls are fantastic, homemade, prepared daily. Highly recommend!
New Owners. We were just there last evening and were very surprised to see new owners running the place! I am happy to report however that the pho and everything else seemed exactly the same as we long time customers have come to expect! New on the menu are Vietnamese subs. Otherwise, the atmosphere hasn't changed at all. When asked, we were told they had been the new owners since September 1st, 2011.
Very tasty. If you're looking for a more authentic pho beef sate taste, I think you'll find it here. Really tasty. The soup is filled with natural ingredients, and I don't think they've put any powdered ingredients to create the sate taste.
The environment is kinda shady though, not as well kept.
First time there and I must say it was quite tasty. I am relatively new to all things pho, but did a little homework before going. Ordered a large beef sate on the hopes it would fight of the cold I have coming on. It was everything I expected. Good spicy broth with a touch of sweetness. Tasty beef and fresh sprouts and what I believe was fresh basil on the side. The place is spotless and service was quick. I am a happy camper for under $10. I will definately return.
