I love this place, great owner, great food awesome location!
Good food and the owner is very friendly.will order again .
Been coming here for 20 + years, nothing has changed, very consistent flavours, love my halibut fish and chips, classic and great customer service too!
Got the halibut and chips. Portion size was decent a tad bit smaller than other places I have been. Halibut was tad fisher than I am use to but I usually eat pollack or cod. Would have liked a lemon slice (I got take out so maybe if you eat in they have lemons) My friend got the sea food combo. The shrimps were very good. Fries were unsalted but that is an easy fix. Service was fast and overall did enjoy it!
Absolutely loved it. Great service. Great food. The fish wasn't greasy at all and the chips we're awesome. Served with vinegar, tartar sauce, ketchup and hot sauce. Couldn't be happier.
This place has been around forever, since I was a kid. I'm sure the original owners are long gone, but nothing has changed, not even the paint. As for the fish, it's the real deal. I've had fish and chippies in England, and no you're not going to get mushy peas here. The best fish and chips I ever had in my life was in Newfoundland, which was a total body experience. No, this is Calgary. Basically it's a grease bomb, best compared to fried chicken. But it's decent and honest junk food you won't find anywhere else in the city.
Being a native to London in jolly ole England, you could say I know a thing or two about fish&chips. You've got your "healthy" variety that's crispy and dry, and then you have the kind that should be wrapped in newspaper, bathed in malt vinegar and tartar sauce, to be eaten while sitting on Brighton Pier, listening to the English Channel wash against the pebble beach. Halibut House is all kinds of Britain. Yes, it's greasy. But if you want authentic British fish&chips, you can't be watching your waistline! This place has the haddock down pat, the "fries" are actually chips, and the tartar sauce has the perfect tang. Take a double decker bus to this hidden #YYC gem! British approved spot! 👍🇬🇧
Amazing. I love the fish and chips here, again and again I have come here and have left satisfied and counting down the days to my next stop. The batter is crispy, not too thick, and the fish that is cooked is tender and juicy. The tartar sauce is amazing too. The only thing that could be better is if the fries were crispy, they are traditional house cut fries and still delicious though. If you are looking for fish and chips at a great price, stop here. 3 piece basa and chips for 12$, doesn't get much cheaper than that here in the city.

Perfectly cooked halibut.
Very fresh, moist and perfect thickness in batter
Fries although were undercooked
And the gravy was not good at all
But the fish was great. Perhaps ask for your fries to be cooked longer as mine were soggy. (Don't order gravy )
Always a first class Fish & Chips. We have had take-out from Halibut House for years. Always nice quality and decent size. Switch between Halibut and Cod, but the Halibut is a bargain at the moment ($15.95 for three pieces with fries), so we have been choosing it a little more frequently. The owner is very nice and polite. Probably eaten 100+ meals and never been disappointed. The soups are good, especial the seafood chowder, and the combos are a nice change. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
Super fast. Extra yummy. Good price. Good service! :)
Best fish n chips Ive had here in calgary. Decent price, fast, great service. Crispy, delicious. Mmmmm.
I went to the halibut house for the first time this weekend and loved their fish and chips. The fish was moist and the batter was perfectly crispy. This place is definitely better than many of the pubs that serve fish and chips here in Calgary! I will be going back for sure.
I've lived in Calgary for 6 months and we just recently found this place!
The 2 piece halibut is only $11 and for that you get two decent sized pieces of fish and a small portion of fries. Worth it and tasted great!!
We've been back a few times since and the quality and portions are consistent!
Decent Takeout. Good fish, generally bland and dry fries though. Decent for takeout from time to time.
Decent fish and chips. Took the mother in law out for lunch to the Halibut House. Food is decent as long as you don't mind eating on styrofoam plates and using plastic cutlery!!
Yummy. Best fish & Chips in Calgary but you MUST have halibut. The batter is perfect and not overwhelming.
