Get the crab (2) dish, add your favourite fixings ($30+), and call it a night.
The food is excellent. The proportion of food you get is great value for your dollars and the staff are most friendly and accommodating.
We love it! Never disappointed. The food is great!
Fast fresh reasonably priced and utterly delicious
Ever since Mai told me about Kam Han Szechuan House, I’ve been craving spicy crab hot pot. So for my sixth wedding anniversary, I told L and One Chubby Hamster that we were going out for Chinese style crab. For this post, let’s listen to “A Teenager in Love” by Dion and The Belmonts.
There are negative reviews that are mostly from people talking about Westernized Chinese dishes. Eat what they do well. I've included instructions below.
1. Go with a friend you don't mind sharing food with. 2. Get the Crabs, and pick some seafood and starches to inside the pot with it. 3. Also ask for the Chinese Ipad menu, there's a bunch of smaller dishes that you may enjoy too. 4. Get messy, gloves are provided.
Food 5/5 Service 4/5 I have had this place bookmarked for awhile. Read some of the reviews and glad I didn't let it prevent me from trying this place. Szechuan restaurants are known for spicy dishes and I love spicy food so I thought I would try a new place that none of the girls i was dining with has ever been. Checking out the menu, there was iPad at the table that allowed you to scrolled thru pictures and order their most popular chinese menu items along with a list on paper which you can order chinese dishes as well. A western style chinese menu was also provide. Lots of dishes to choose from, so even if you can't handle spicy food you can order regular dishes.we started with the handmade pan fried pork dumplings and they were delicious. They make them in house. We order the mild spicy crab- 2 crabs for $35 and added yam noodles $3, I recommend to add double order of noodles to soak up the sauce of the crabs. We found the noodles absorbed the sauce perfectly and it was so flavourful that we wanted more. The Kam Han special fried rice was served in a cute little silver cone shaped dish with a cover that kept the rice hot also tasty. We also got the abalone with oyster sauce and szechuan pork on sizzling plate. Everything was delicious and we had leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Totally recommend the Spicy Crab, you will not regret it! Can't wait to go back and order it again!
Every time I come to Calgary I head from the airport right here to get my dumpling fix. Staff is friendly and the portions are good. Highly recommend you try this little gem out.
We are from Edmonton, and we were driving around looking for a place to eat. We stumbled upon this little gem. And boy were we ever pleased. Fast and friendly service. And the food was fantastic. We will definitely come back on our next trip to Calgary.
Consistent quality and service. Kam Han is a regular stop before Flames, Hitman of Roughnecks games. Menu has recently changed with more focus on seafood.
Very pleased! Friends were thinking about something to do for dinner and suggested Kam Han. They wanted the Salt and Pepper Vegetables and said that the food would be worth it even if the looks inside were in need of an update. Well, they had updated the look of the restaurant, and the Salt and Pepper Vegetables lived up to the hype from my friends. Good food, friendly service, and a new Szechwan test menu in addition to the regular offerings. If you didn't have a great experience before, maybe it's time to try it again. If you liked it before, you will still be happy.
One of the best I've had. I ordered on Christmas Eve for 9 people. We ordered for a specific time, and showed up to pick up the food a couple of minutes before our order time and the food was just getting packed into the takeout boxes for us, so super fresh and ready for exactly when we had asked for! The food itself was delicious, all 9 people in my family loved it, loved it! I felt compelled to write a review because this restaurant was recommended to me by a friend and them I used urban spoon to see what calgary had to say about it. We will order from here again.
Consistently Good. Never had a bad dish here. The food is always fresh and hot. Ginger beef is always tender and well spiced and the salt and pepper seafood is also a favoUrite of ours. Fast service and decent prices.
This was the best Chinese food I have had in a long time! The ingredients were fresh and the service was very fast and friendly. The mixed vegetables with cashews and the crispy lemon chicken were especially delicious. The dumplings and the shrimp and tomato sizzling rice were great too. One thing that we weren't happy with was the chicken chow mein, it had almost no sauce on it and was very bland. If I ordered it again, I would ask for extra sauce. Overall, my husband and I were very pleased with our dinner an we will be going back!
Great Food , high quality, slightly pricey. I have never actually ordered in at this place, I have only ever ordered take out.... the food is pretty good properly seasoned' stir fries/meat and veggie dishes are a wee bit on the saltier side. the staff is great. If they have any on going promotions that you are unaware of, they will still discount you so you can get the most for y our money. I ended up with a 15% (13.49) off discount on my dinner for six (89.95)
Plus a free salt and pepper squid for orders over 80.00
The discounts occur regardless of promoti on or combination, so at first kam Han might seem pricey. But at the end of the bill, I got a really tasty meal, nothing was over cooked, not to oily... And it was comparable in price to the average takeout place. The food in comparison was WAY better and the quality not even comparable.
This was my first visit to the Kam Han (Avenida location) and was quite by accident. Hungry like a bear out of hibernation, 1:30pm on a Tuesday afternoon the Hostess greeting was friendly. For $13 I got a spring roll with apricot sauce (not those generic packets), fairly tasteless won ton soup with 3 wontons, fried rice, barbecue pork with vegetables, and ginger chicken. The fried rice portion was generous with a noticeable amount of small veggies, but had no particular flavor. I prefer fried rice to be fried. The barbecue pork with vegetables was fresh and properly cooked with a medium crunch to the good selection of health food. The pork was also a decent portion without the usual porky flavor of old sow. Ginger chicken in a very mild but sweet sauce looked as if it was hand breaded in a medium density batter. As with all 'ginger' dishes in 'western chinese' ginger root could not be found let a lone tasted. Great value overall. Nothing offensive, nothing supreme. Mission accomplished, first hungry, then satisfied.
