Great sandwiches here. I always get the cheese steak sandwich. The meat has great flavour, the bread is fresh and I love the horseradish sauce.
Absolutely delicious beef sandwiches. It's not cheap, but so worth the price for the quality and flavor. Love the beef dip and the beef with cheddar - it's a creamy white cheddar instead of your usual orange cheddar. Note that a lot of the sandwiches have raw onions, some have cooked onions, so ask for that if you prefer! The location itself is casual and clean - great for a quick bite or takeout.
Solid Hidden Gem that apparently has been around for 3 years at this location. The location itself has a slight Western Calgary theme which is very fitting and is very No Frills dine-in quick meal spot.
The food however is awesome. A beef dip comes out steaming hot with an awesome side of coleslaw. Also stellar. Definitely coming back.
Only drawback. A little pricey vs proportion.
Had a LG Beef dip/no onions to go, got a LG beef dip w/onions. Once I finished picking off all the onions it was a good sandwich for $12. The quality and flavour of the beef was good and the service was friendly even though they put onions on my sandwich (they have only been open for 4 days, leeway granted). Great alternative to Jared's and would go back the pulled pork looked good.
My husband and I ate here on our way through Calgary. The restaurant was clean with western themed decor. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. We got the cheese steak and the pulled pork sandwiches. The cheese on the cheese steak was creamy and delicious and the pulled pork was tender and buttery. The (optional) cilantro in the pulled pork really elevated it to another level! The large sandwiches are a great value; they don't skimp out on the meat!
Yum yum, had another great lunch today! Bbq beef brisket, and cheese steak still in my top favorites! Try this place, you won't be disappointed.
Been going to this place for years! They have a great menu that I never get tired of. The staff is incredibly friendly- always happy to serve! I've tried every sandwich and they're all incredible!!! Highly recommend!

Came in today and had the beef dip and it was awesome ! Nice soft bread beef had great flavor and the au ju was very tasty, word of advice Get the chipotle and horseradish on the side. The guy who owns the place is very nice funny guy he gave us two free specials which was potato salad topped with baked beans and chipotle sauce with salt and pepp and it was awesome!! Sounds weird but worked very well together. As far as a quick BBQ fix this place is better then anything we have in Calgary. Moderately priced a large beef dip and one pop was $12.

Came here for the first time today. I had the pulled pork and my husband had a large brisket sandwich. The pulled pork was amazing and very filling, as for the brisket it looked very plain but my husband inhaled it wanting more. The owners were very nice and helpful since it was our first time there. The only thing I will complain about is their cleanliness...it wasn't very appetizing sitting at a table with crumbs all over it and looking out a window with dead bugs on the bottom of it. Other then that I will be back!
First time I tried the Beef Shack, I heard great things and they certainly live up to it. Had the bbq beef sand with onions and cheese and a bit of potatoe salad on top. WOW! I couldn't stop!! I will most definately be telling my friends to go there and be back again myself very soon!! Thanks to Brad the owner for bringing such wonderful food to McKenzie Towne.
This place is AMAZING! Very well priced and great food. I recommend it to everyone. The staff is so friendly and helpful also. The beef dip is the best i have ever had!
Great little location. Staff seems passionate and trained. Saw the owner talking with customers and working hard. Portion of BBQ beef was large and delicious. Coleslaw was ok, wish there was other side options. Will be a regular place of mine to visit and try more.
So glad I found this place! Had the cheesesteak and I'm still dreaming about it. The meat was juicy and the aged cheddar on top was amazing! Love that they use fresh, local ingredients, makes me feel a little less guilty about eating out. Great customer service, super friendly staff.
I love this place, enough to drive all the way down to mckenzie just to grab a brisket sandwich. The beef dip is also phenomenal. Definitely go when Brad the owner is working, he really loads up the sandwich with meat! Great value for the price!

Pulled Pork, Holy Momma Its Crazy Good. Now If He Would Just Serve Beer...Heaven. Cooked to perfection with just enough sauce to make it flavorful, but not so messy that you are worried about the way you will look after. There is some slaw and cranberries just to add some zing. Can't get better then that,,,
Really nice brisket, little pricey but u get a lot for your money. The pulled pork sandwich was really good and interesting combinations on some sandwiches that really work. The owner really cares about the food and proud of what he does. Nice guy!

What BBQ should be. Delicious BBQ from the first bite to the last. The meat had some of the best smoked flavour I have tasted, and the BBQ sauce and onions were a perfect edition. The seasoning was perfect, and would have been delightful even without the BBQ sauce. Definitely telling all of my meat-eating friends about this place, and looking forward to going back to try the beef dip.

Beef Dip. Food is so good and fresh
Great place for a quick bite to eat! Had the beef and chedder and Oh my gosh... That beef! Little disappointed about the side selection, as I my little one loves her french fries. But all in all, great price for food!
Awesome. One of my favourite places. Always fresh and not over smoked...just delicious. There really isn't anything on the menu I don't like.
Awesome!. Great smell, fantastic flavour and wonderful customer service. Definitely a repeat. We ordered 2 large sandwiches, one roast and one smoked. Shared the smoked one but were so full we couldn't finish the roast one. Sooo good.

This all started with a terrible experience with a pulled pork sandwich at Wendys. It actually made me upset with how bad it was. My girlfriend went out one day to try to make up for the Wendys experience and got me a pulled pork sandwich from Cow Town Beef Shack and it was the tastiest sandwich I have ever feasted on. My girlfriend actually made fun of me because I wanted to go back and get another sandwich for supper.
It's obvious that a lot of thought went into all aspects of what went on the sandwich as it has a wide variety of flavors. The meat was very tender and well spiced and the cranberry, bbq sauce, cilantro and green apple combination really finishes it off.
We went back today for seconds and it's clear that this is a well run, family owned independent business that delivers a quality product for an amazing price. I'll be a regular here.
My girlfriend had a BBQ Beef sandwich with cheese and she also loved her meal.
The only thing that could make this place better was if they were licensed and you could have a beer with your sandwich. 5 stars.

Smoked Brisket Sandwich. A simple first taste of the new Cow Town location and I approve! Smoked brisket with onions, red pepper and a bit of hot sauce. The meat is tender and piled high. I could have used a fork to help. Next time, I will get a large one.
Worth the stop. Just had dinner at Cowtown beef shack. Wicked awesome service in a great trendy area. I'm always looking for a little taste of home (Texas) and this place hits the spot. If you have a chance to try either one of the locations out. Do it !!

This place is the bomb! That lady below is clearly an impatient entitled c#?t. Doesn't she know Rome wasn't built in a day? Anyways this place is so good and u should deff try it. I can't believe it's in my neighbourhood. It probably raised my property value.
We had the beef dip and pulled pork sandwhich and both were awesome, best pulled pork sandwhich I've had outside of home-cooked. Meat was tender with just the right amount of flavourful sauce, and topped with delicious fresh coleslaw with apples, cranberry and cilantro. Also had a cup of gelato which was not bad but more like regular ice cream. Customer service was excellent and friendly, even gave us extra cheese to try. We will be back many a time I imagine.
The Pulled Pork sandwich (with green apple slaw and cranberry mayo) is unreal. Best I've ever had. The beef dip and beef & cheddar with the 2-year old aged cheddar sauce shouldn't be missed, either.
