I really enjoyed my experience here. I have been trying a few various Thai restaurants throughout Calgary, and I feel this place has taken my #1 spot so far. There was a nice variety on the menu. I had the Panang curry with coconut rice. It was delicious! I will be back again to try more options. The staff was very friendly, and the bathrooms were super clean!

I've always enjoyed this restaurant. It has Thai decorations, but not over the top, and lots of humorous sayings on plaques to keep us amused. The owners seem to have a sense of humour and aren't afraid to be unique, which is a nice change in this day and age. The service and food has always been good in the past and was again this time too.
A friend and I met here, ordered the Papaya Salad with medium spice, the Lemon Chicken appetizer and the Swimming Rama (who could resist a name like that!) with coconut rice.
It was lovely to have a gluten-free "breaded" item but it didn't quite live up to my expectations, it was a bit past crunchy and more into just hard. It was fine when I dipped it into the peanut sauce that was part of the Swimming Rama though. And I did quite like the lemon sauce so not all was lost.
The Papaya salad was something I've not had before, I enjoyed it, but can't say if it was the way it was supposed to be or not really.
For dessert we each had the Mango/coconut rice and it was just fine.
We managed a couple of pots of Thai tea as well. It was an herbal tea, naturally sweet, with a subtle flavour of its own. You can buy boxes of it to take home, which I might just do next time I want to add to my tea collection.
It looks like they have a buffet option as well, but I didn't pay attention to it as buffets are generally a mine field for gf folk.
I have to remember to pop in for lunch more often when I am doing business at this end of the city, the parking is free, the prices are reasonable, the food tasty and the service quick. :-)
Thai Boat is an excellent choice. The restaurant is pretty basic and the dishes are fairly standard Thai, but the flavours are excellent. Highly recommended.
Great food and friendly service. Price is reasonable too. Only thing I can think of that would be negative is portion size could be a little better. Other than that...highly recommended!
Best Thai in town! The chef really cares and the place is spotless. Love it. Try the "Terminator Pad Thai" it is the chef's own recipe and it is incredible.
I love this place! It's got tons of character with its nautical-authentic Thai decor complete with neon lights. Above all the food is delicious! It has excellent quality ingredients that are served with great generosity. I ordered a green curry (Thai spicy level) and it was so tasty. The only thing that would make this restaurant better is if they had a greater selection of soups. They only offer very small size Tom-Yum. Hopefully they will add more soup to their menu.
Good food lovers, this is a place that offers you Authentic Thai food. This is very important to note. Because if you're expecting a salty, savoury 'Thai Express' feel, unfortunately, this isn't the best place for you.
Everything here is made as though you were going to someone's home, and if that floats your (Thai) boat, then welcome home. The portions are substantial for what you're paying, and one dish can generally satisfy a pretty big appetite.
Be aware of the sweet concoctions of flavour, and respect the spices that they use. It really does taste like you're eating food made from ingredients you can find nearby.
Enjoy!
Had two recent experiences with thai boat, one being the Wednesday lunch buffet and another was ordering for pickup. I'm glad to say Both were positive delicious experiences. The buffet was 12$ and offered 5 different dishes which were fresh and delicious, the basil beef being the stand out and chicken wings.
Ordering for pickup was very quick, and food was flavourful especially the red curry sauce, but the reg pad thai needed something a little more it was a little on the bland side.
Prices are reasonable, food tastes fresh and delicious, the atmosphere inside is very relaxing and comfortable, and would be nice of portions were a little larger. Check it out!!
Had the red curry with chicken and coconut rice. Very delicious. Menu is a little overwhelming the first time you go, there's a lot of choices.
For Thai food this place is quite authentic. I discovered this place with my co worker and she loves thai food especially the tom yum soup. I love the inside of the place as it has nice character. We never had to wait for a seat and the service is great. I always order the Sarm Sahai - a popular thin noodle dish with chicken, beef and pork and veggies. It also comes with a crispy wonton :) i love that added touch. The sauce is a delicious and flavourful thai boat red sauce. Im always left wanting more after my dish hahaa. must be the spices.
This is by far my favorite Thai restaurant in Calgary. The only downside is that the food is expensive for the portion size they give you, which is very little. Other than that, the delicious food makes you overlook the flaws!
Absolutely Delish. The drunken noodle stir fry is out of this world!!
A very great find!. We were trying to look for a good new restaurant to dine in in the NE. Surprised how good the food and service was especially because we saw a couple of bad reviews here at urbanspoon. Will definitely go back again! We even ordered some more to take home.
Great spot!. I love the new hotpot they added to the menu! The service has always been excellent when I've gone - the staff remember our order and are very accommodating with any special requests. I've never had to make a reso for dinner but lunch can be a bit busier. Some of the favorites are: ginger chicken, lemongrass chicken, devil's kiss and lemon chicken.
Came here twice. Really good and comfortable ambience! I really love the different paintings and wall decor. Not too dim, and very calming. Food is great! Service is moderate, overall pretty informative about each menu item when you ask.
Ok so far. I've only been for lunch and had green curry and basil & cashew stair-fly. The curry was pretty good. The stir-fly was alright I take that dish as a kind of dish. I have to try their pad thai next time, so I will give another try.
Fantastic, authentic Thai. We probably would never have ventured over to Thai Boat had we not been staying at a local nearby airport hotel this past July. We were hankering for some good Thai food. The reviews here on US were hit and miss, but after much deliberation, we ended up giving it a try. Good thing we did! One item Mrs. RJG and I like with our Thai meal is white wine. Neither the online menus, nor any of the reviews here mention it... but for those lushes like us who want a restaurant experience with alcohol provided, then you'll be relieved to know that Thai Boat has that for you.
But drinks aside, the most important thing is the food. For the RJG, it's tough finding authentic Thai Basil chicken. But Thai Boat comes through with their version: Devil's Kiss (which you can get with a variety of meats). They warned me it was spicy, and I said "yeah, yeah". But, hey, for once it really was spicy! Not overly so for me - actually just perfect - but if you are sensitive to heat, you'll want to avoid this dish. And the ground/minced chicken was delicious. Mrs RJG had Thai Basil with chicken and vegetables. This is the more gringo version of the dish, with chunks of white meat chicken - and loads of vegetables. She loved it.
Next time (if) we're in Calgary, we will make a beeline here - no matter where we are staying in the city.
Very Authentic Thai Food, yum!. My co-workers go weekly and LOVE the green curry chicken, they don't ruin it with adding corn-starch or yogurt to the sauce like most places do. It's perfect!
My 1st Thai food experience was here when I was in Calgary for job training & I def found a new fav food, it actually replaced Chinese as my fav ethnic food which is saying a lot b/c back in Winnipeg it's all about the Chinese food! I couldnt even tell you what we had now but i kno there were both red & green curry dishes which were so tasty, the coconut rice which was a delicious new taste for me, and oh the desserts were so yummy! The servers were friendly, the prices were very decent, and the ambiance & even the dishes they used really made the experience for me. Loved it & can't wait to go back next time I'm in the city!
Came here with my parents when I was sick, looking for some spicy food to clear my sinuses. Thai Boat did a wonderful job! Food tasted great and the staff were very friendly! Excellent food presentation too, the plates and tea cups were adorable. Would definitely recommend!
Awesome food awesome service. Love the food and staff was very helpful. My child made so much mess under the table and it was embarrassing for us, but the staff was very cooperative. Food was great specially Lemongrass chicken was amazing. Will definitely go back there again.
Best Thai food in the city! Staff is friendly, food is inexpensive and service is lighting fast. Their spring rolls are the best I have ever tried. I get the 31 and 56 with chicken and coconut rice. Amazing! A must-try!!
One of the best Thai places in Calgary. My husband and I went here on our first date over 5 years ago. We've been almost every single week ever since. The owners have become great friends of ours, even catering our wedding dinner party at our house. We love the food, the service is always top notch, and the prices can't be beat. We tell everyone we know about this place.
By the way, we've tried every single Thai place in Calgary, and this is definitely in our top three. We've eaten Thai food all over the world, and we still think this is one of the best!
Must Have Dishes. This Thai restaurant is amazing. I've had better thai, but not by much. Considering you get a lot of food for a good price, I will definitely be going here more often.
The rice comes in these tin deisgn cans that I really want to take home with me. The plates are beautiful and the food is well made, delicious, and satisfying.
Fun and flavourful. We went on a friday night so it was busier than usual. Our food came surprisingly fast. We ordered Green curry with chicken and a beef dish and both tasted excellent! Coconut rice is always a treat
Not too many good thai places in Calgary and this one is 1 of the good ones.
Very flavorful & fresh. My husband kept harassing me to try Thai Boat... he has been there on several occasions and really loves their food. I have to say that although I'm not a big Thai food fan, I really enjoyed it! I had the yellow curry and a couple of appetizers (can't remember what they were called). I will definitely be back!
I love the food here. The service can sometimes feel a bit impersonal and rushed. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. Great pad Thai.
I like, but not love. Thai food at a cheap price, I would recommend here.
It's not the most amazing Thai food ever but it's still pretty decent. My favourite dish is the panag curry, a lot of flavor in that one. Just to note the portions of all the dishes are quite small. I've also been to the buffet, it's like 13 bucks for it but for me, I don't think there is a lot of choices in the buffet, it's quite small. Overall the food is decent and cheap, I'd go again when I crave their curry.
Enjoyable atmosphere, great food with your choice of heat. Great selection on menu, most Thai favorites listed.

Yum! Decent portions, delicious. They gave me the obligatory "white people" spicy warning. Devils kiss if crazy good. Red curry beef amazing. Will recommend.
The best Thai food I've had. I love the food at Thai Boat. I'm not crazy about the location, but it's really worth the trip. Another reviewer commented on the portion size being small, and I tend to agree. I actually ordered a second plate of Pad Thai at lunch one time as I was still hungry; much to my surprize they didn't even charge me for the second dish. I can't recommend this place strongly enough.
Great value! Decent sized portions, good service, and you don't need to make a reservation! Love this place!
Best Thai in Town. This is my favorite Thai restaurant. Period. I have never been to a restaurant that serves better curries and other dishes. It's quite a drive for me but I make it almost weekly. The servers are awesome - they pretty much know my order and always bring it promptly. I always stick with my staple green curry beef but love to try their other dishes from spring rolls to cowboy-on-the-roof satay beef. The music is hilarious - think elevator music ("The Eagles" and other soft rock) meets a thai guitar. The decorations are also all over the place but it just adds to the atmosphere. I HIGHLY recommend Thai Boat - it is the best Thai food I have found!
Great value. The food is good, the prices are very fair. The decoration isn't really sumptuous but it is clean and the service is decent (even though they seem prompt to push us out after we just finished eating). I could go back but would not get out of my way just for it. Check it out guys and girls ! Worth a peekaboo !
Awful reviews by others this place rocks.... After seeing how poorly thai boat was being rated I had to write a review. The food has always been great (and ive been eating there for 4+ years). They place instrumental quiet music and the environment is pretty cool, especially if you've ever actually travelled to thailand and know what it's like. I agree with someone that the benches could be more comfy but sit up straight its not a deal breaker...The food is great, sometimes they bring it out way too quick, but the price is also good. Overall I think its a really great affordable restaurant..I've spent a lot more on far lesser dishes at places downtown.
It was pretty expensive, but overall pretty good.
Tasty!. Great food, opted for the two star (out of 3) spicy beef curry and it was awesome. Just the right heat/flavour.
A couple of minor errors with our order but very friendly staff, good menu choices and comfortable decor.
We went based on reviews here and definitely would go again.
Delicious food if you are in the area. But make sure you check open hours. The beef salad and the basil beef are particularly good here as is the pad see ew
Sail in to Bangkok !. After knowing of this restaurant for quite some years, and it's close to where I live, I agreed to dine here finally and enjoy some Thai experience.
My friend and I ordered the Bangkok combo and were quite impressed. The Bangkok combo is a complete meal without costing too much. It comes with 3 starters (Soup, salad, Chicken skewers/Sesame Toast), then 3 entrees and a dessert for only $40. The flavors really came out, especially the yellow curry chicken we had. The coconut rice does add a lot to the experience and comes with the combo.
The dishes seemed to be small in size but after the meal was complete, I was full and satisfied.
Good Job Thai Boat. You gave me a great night with a friend. Keep it up. For those who haven't tried Thai Cuisine, try this one out if you're near.
It's all about the Rice. The first time I ever went to Thai Boat I really wasn't too impressed. The food was good, but it wasn't mind blowing. However, my friends told me that ordering the coconut rice with your meal will make a world of difference. Heeding their suggestions I returned, ordering the same dish but with a different rice.
WOW, what a difference it made. The flavors just popped out and the meal was brand new. The mix of sweet rice and spicy curry was so balanced that it had me begging for more.
So head over to Thai Boat. And order the coconut rice with your dish. It will make a world of difference.
I enjoy the consistent quality of food and the great prices... So, I will be back soon again!
I've been to Thai Boat on several occasions and have never had a bad experience. After convincing Nancy to give it another chance I'm pleased that her first try was just a random bad day for what to me has always been a good restaurant. It's been some tim
