I am surprised by the low ratings this place has received as my friends and I really enjoyed this place. The sashimi platters are done so carefully and with such attention to detail that you cannot help but take a photo. The quality was definitely above average (though it is still not our favorite in the city). The service was great even though we had a group of 7 with many dishes split in very confusing ways. They had no problem splitting the bill for us in the end. I will definitely be back to try other dishes since my friend just moved right next to it!
Hidden gem. Good price. Great customer service, and delicious sashimi! If your not on a diet - I recommend the volcano roll and yam fries. The staff are always happy to see you, I love that they remember who you are. Great for a quick bite or take out at home.
This is one of my favorite sushi places in Calgary. I would say it is an underrated gem. It's a pretty humble restaurant that isn't fancy at all but the quality of the sushi is great for the price you pay. The cuts of fish are very generous and fresh. If you go during lunch hour, the lunch bento combo is a really great deal.
The owner of Nami's used to work at the famous sushi spot Miku in Vancouver and a lot of their dishes reflect that. Their box pressed sushi is delicious. The spicy tuna or salmon sashimi and Calgary Flames roll are must try items.
Ordered thru skip the dishes and the assorted sashimi was thick and fresh. The yam tempura was nice and crispy. I thought the spicy roll combo was disappointing and will not get again. The salmon filling was a bit mushy and was not pieces of sliced salmon as we are usually get at other restaurants. We ended up throwing out half of order. Will be willing to try checking out the actual restaurant and trying other items next time.

Sushi on a whim after eating pretty unhealthily during this Cowtown trip, we went on google and found what was closest with the highest rating. Which brings us to Nami Sushi and Grill. Beautiful Sunny afternoon led us to the patio in this quiet restaurant off 17th Ave. Basically empty aside from just one other table on the patio occupied. Decorated with Just-Eat stickers and restless wait staff standing around, the impression and expectations for the rest of this sushi trip was set. Generic and lengthy menu with overly pushy staff that seemed a little too quick to rush us out. Food was decent, prices were fair; but overall, meh. Service didn’t cut it for me and I’m sure there are better places around the area for a more memorable sushi experience.
Assorted Sashimi - ($26.95) - 4/5 - 15 pieces of 5 different kinds, which came out to be salmon, tuna, octopus, and amberjack. Presentation was beautiful, slices were thick and big. I guess you’re getting the bang for your buck with this order. Tasted fresh and decent- not totally melt in your mouth fresh or anything but curbed our hunger and sushi pains.
Salmon Battera - ($10.50) - ⅘ - My love for pressed sushi in unreal. Seeing this on the menu made me ecstatic. Torched salmon with avocado and a nice savory creamy glaze on the top. This was so satisfying, my favorite of the dining experience.
Conveniently located, this is a great place for drink specials and sushi that won’t break the bank. We tried some of the combination plates and the beef tataki. I like that the restaurant offered lots of room for groups, comfortable seating and booths as well. They also have amazing drink specials - so a great option in and around 17th Ave. Staff were incredibly friendly and fast with orders.
Nami is much better than whatever it used to be. I've been doing takeout lately and found it to be pretty good. Particularly the tuna, maybe I've had bad tuna at other places, I found the tuna here to be decent. Last night we went and dined in. It was super busy! So service was lacking but I understand. Food was great, had the Green Dragon roll, tuna and avocado roll and the BBQ squid. All very good! I will continue to eat here.
Good quality sushi at an excellent price! They have a great variety to chose from and the staff are always friendly and provide great service! This is my go to sushi place in Calgary.

The food was great and reasonably priced. 40$ for 42 pieces of sushi, two salads, and two soups. The service was lacking a little bit, as we didn't really see our server, and had to go up front to pay because we had to leave. Would return though

I haven't been to this spot in years. Friends insisted so we went. We ordered 5 speciality rolls and a combo tower. The food was solid and we ended up paying only $25 each which is super cheap! Service was great and friendly which is an awesome bonus. It's not trendy but warm and homey.

The food is great, awesome prices and such a welcoming environment and staff! The miso, prawn tempura, sashimi, sushi and rolls are all very fresh, generous portions and full of flavour! Definitely recommend trying the homemade spicy sauce as well. We will definitely be back.
Solid sushi at a great value. Service is so so as they appear to be understaffed and have only a couple of servers in the dining room. They are very friendly however and remember their regular patrons. We really enjoy their pressed sushi (aburi)... the salmon one is amazing, do it!
Been here a couple of times for takeout. Staff are so friendly and provide green tea while you wait and also a 10% discount for take out. Good sushi here really enjoy the yam Tempura roll.
We dropped in this restaurant without any prior planning but overall I was quite impressed. We ordered salmon sashimi, a grilled squid appetizer, 1 chopped scallop roll, 1 green dragon, and 1 salmon cube sushi (can't remember the name of the style). Overall everything was delicious and fresh. It was my first time trying the cubed sushi but I cam say that I am a fan. Essentially the regular nigri sushi is compressed into rectangles, and within the rice they fill it with avocado, more fish, sauce, etc. It's pretty much like the stuffed crust pizza version of sushi. Pretty neat, I can't say I've seen this type of sushi at any other places before but I'm definitely gonna keep my eye out now
My husband and I go for sushi regularly and have a few "go to's" that are consistent in quality and affordability. We've heard many times about Nami and how good it is but are always hesitant trying new sushi places. We finally gave it a try this past Friday, it was fantastic!! Wish we had given it a chance sooner, we both agree that it's the best sushi we've found in Calgary (the quality and the prices can't be beat). The sushi chefs are from Vancouver and the servers are extremely attentive and kind. We have removed all our other "go to's" from our rotation...this is our new favorite!!
Great value! Not the absolutely most outstanding sushi in the city but the quality for the price can't be beat. Fresh fish, very friendly service, for dine in and takeout (only ever picked up). They give 10% off for pickup, be sure to ask for extra wasabi if you like it, it tends to be skimpy otherwise.
Came here last night with some friends. I've ordered delivery handful of times but never dined in. The restaurant is medium sized. We were the only table at 5:15pm but when we left at 7:45pm it was half full.
They've got a thick menu. Lots of tasty and decent priced rolls and appetizers! The service was good. The lady was quite assertive but she wanted to ensure the orders were right. I was disappointed they don't make the creamy scallop in a sashimi (ie. Served On cucumber).
Overall, would def visit again to try many items on their menu!

Once again I order from skipthedishes.ca and decided to try this place for sushi. The prices are pretty cheap $3-4 for each veggie rolls and the combo roll was $17 (spicy tuna, spicy salmon, scallop rolls). Delivery was an additional $7. We ordered just before noon and the food arrive 40 mins later. Considering the price, the quickness and the choices of the menu, this is not a bad place to try since it seems to be a good deal!
I really enjoy coming here. The staff is always so friendly, the prices are great, and the portion sizes/freshness are great value for what you pay. I always start off with a bowl of miso soup (just $1.50!) and usually get the salmon, tuna, and hotate (scallop) sashimi, and the Las Vegas roll. I highly recommend Nami; they always put a smile on our faces and we leave full and satisfied.
Best miso soup in the city! I often pick up sushi here to take home, have never dined in but anytime I go in the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.
I like that Nami is inexpensive but still serves good quality food and is always ready when I get there.
Come here often. The service is always quick and attentive. The sushi is great for the price, can't beat a good lunch deal. Will continue to come.
Nami Sushi is located on 16 Ave facing 14 Street SW. My girlfriend recommended this place as she had seen some delicious looking pictures of the sushi on Instagram. Everything complimented each other
Overall I enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. The service was a little slow but very friendly. An added bonus is that the price was very reasonable :) I will definitely go back to order the Salmon Baterra & the Monkey Brains again. The Monkey Brains were soo delicious, i love how everything goes together, & whats better than deep fried avocado :) Next time we will be looking forward to trying the Unagi & grilled Saba Baterra.

Love it here! Definitely one of my favourite go to spots for cheaper priced sushi and beer :) there is a also a patio outside which is great on warmer days.
Food and service both are good. Rolls and nigiri sushi have minimal rice which is exactly what I like, and servers have always been very friendly every time I've visited. Would definitely recommend! :)
We both had a craving for sushi and we invited Mama Hui along! Nami is located right off of 17th Ave, which is close to home and we were hungry (Kim was hangry...). . Deluxe Assorted Sashimi- 7 kinds, 19 pcs. The salmon and tuna were good but the scallop, octopus and the other pieces were the real stars of the plate. Each piece was had great texture and was full of flavour.

Bang for your buck!. We had a large party of 26 here yesterday for a birthday party and I must say that I was very impressed. Because of their limited space and us having such a large party, we were originally told to split off into 4 separate tables (one was a 2 person table.. we felt that was a bit awkward for the two who would get cut so we managed to squeeze people in here and there to make it a 3 table split). The service was top notch and efficient. They were very accommodating and patient with us and did everything they could to make it a pleasant experience for everyone.
We ordered and food came out right as soon as we ordered. The quality of the food was very good and generous portions were given. The salmon sashimi that we ordered had very thick cuts to them. My only complaint for the food was that the rolls were a bit poorly made, the rice would fall apart as soon we tried to pick them up. But I totally understand that they were trying to process our orders quickly to accommodate all 26 of us, so that might've been the reason why.
Another thing to note was that we came in with a very large cake that could've fed 30+ people. At the end, we had too much cake leftover, and one of the woman server (not sure if she was the owner) personally assisted us with cutting up the rest of the cake and packaging the remainders into takeout boxes for us. That was out of her scope of work I felt and how she helped with that situation I thought was worth mentioning.
Lastly, this place is very affordable! Better value and less expensive compared to other Japanese restaurants in Calgary. I would definitely recommend! I can't wait to visit again!

Each piece was had great texture and was full of flavour. Salmon Battera- Torched salmon, avocado Chef's box pressed sushi is an interesting concept that we have yet to experience. The flavour is amazing and everything just melted in your mouth. The sweet sauce really complements the smokiness of the Aburi Salmon! It would have been perfect if they reduced the amount of rice by just a little as it was a bit too filling for us. Chopped Scallop- Nigiri The scallop here is amazingly delicious! There was a great ratio of scallop to rice, served with a perfect amount of sauce, which provided flavour without overpowering the scallop. Volcano Roll- spicy tuna with spicy imitation crab, tobiko and sesame dressing on top Nami Sushi and Grill introduces a very different approach than what is typically served as the sesame dressing provides a wonderful flavour. Spicy tuna and crab fits perfectly with the other components. A nice level of heat for Mama Hui but both of us were craving for more. Flames Roll- spicy salmon with avocado, torched salmon, bonito and unagi sauce on top The filling was flavourful and paired perfectly with the toppings. The Aburi Salmon and Bonito flakes added a wonderful smokiness to the roll, while the cucumbers provided a nice crunch. A very delicious roll! Assorted Tataki- 7 pcs; salmon, tuna and scallop The lightly seared pieces provided a wonderful flavour profile balanced by a delicious citrus sauce. Top notch. Sooooo good. Loved every bite. 8 of us hit it good and dropped 400 bucks. Yes that's right I would say north of 25 rolls, loads of sashimi, the whole menu and dessert. Worth every penny. Try the red dragon and the flames roll. Volcano was great too. We will be back for sure. Best sushi in the SW so far in my opinion.
Went yo Nami Sushi today. Was a great place for sushi. Great service, reasonable prices and good atmosphere. We ordered the hot night roll (my favorite), philly roll with smoked salmon and the volcano roll. Good sized rolls and made to perfection. We will certainly be back! Very welcoming.
I think I've found my new favorite sushi place. Everything was fresh and delicious. The customer service was excellent and the prices are very affordable. Can't wait to come back in the summer and enjoy dinner on the patio :)
Fresh and delicious!. My new fav sushi restaurant! the sushi is fresh and their udon soup is made from scratch in house! the udon takes a little while to come out since they make it from scratch (not instant). I've already came back a few times within a month. They also gave us small sample tempura apologizing for the long wait for the udon to come out. another +1!
Lovely option for take out. I enjoy sushi from Nami so much! Food is always fresh and tasty while service being quick and very welcoming. They offer complimentary tea when waiting for take out orders, which is a nice touch. Yes, and they also offer discount for take out orders! The only little minus is absence of red tuna in Nami's menu.
Servers gave us excellent customer service. The food was delicious and affordable.

Good sushi, excellent teriyaki, amazing value.. Let's hope that this black hole of a location has finally found a permanent tenant, because this place is inexpensive and very good. I got a to-go order this evening of one avocado roll, one spicy tuna roll, and an order of chicken teriyaki don. The sushi was nice- well made rolls and quite ample sizes for the price. The spicy tuna had a nice feature: bits of tempura mixed into the macerated tuna, nice for texture and taste. But the teriyaki was incredible. If you only know teriyaki from fast food teppan places like Teriyaki Experience, forget it. This is grilled boneless thigh, not stir fried, and am ample portion with a delicious, not too sweet teriyaki sauce and a big pile of perfect short-grain rice. It's as good as what I've had in Vancouver, better than any I've had in Calgary, and the regular price for this order is $8.95. Almost too good to be true, but add a 10% discount for pickup AND a 20% opening special (good until the end of December) and this feast was - wait for it - $14.95. You cannot even dream of this sort of value even at an all you can eat place and it wouldn't be this good. Please check this place- they're very well staffed and incredibly friendly on top of the astonishing value.
