Went for lunch with a friend, we had both been there before and I used to take my staff there after inventory as they were down the street. The quality was not what it once had been, I will try it again but there are others I will try first again. It is a Calgary staple but not as good as it once was.

I've been here a few times now, and have been impressed with the food each time.
Generally we go for their cheap pasta nights, on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday you can get a pasta for $9.99 which will fill you up and in my experience has tasted great each time.
My favourite is their Mediterranea ravioli, which is flavourful and comes in almost a broth (the sauce is quite thin, but tasty). I've had this a few times now, and am always very satisfied with the choice. Last time me and my boyfriend ordered pick up and also tried the Carciofi Diablo which was excellent. Creamy with a bit of a kick.
The couple of times we've ate in the service has been good, and the complimentary bread is awesome for sopping up the extra sauce. Though the one time I went in alone, the server's cheese wheel and pepper mill were both empty when they tried to top my pasta... and he just walked away and didn't offer to fill them and come back. But whatever, maybe he was new.
The food is great value for the price you pay, I'll definitely be back!
Ordered Fettucini Alfredo through Skip the Dishes and it was pretty good. It had good flavour and more than enough sauce to coat the pasta and chicken.

I had the Linguini Alla Vongole, the garlic white wine sauce was delish and they definitely didn't hold back on the baby clams! My gf tried the Chianti, it was equally impressive with its rich Alfredo sauce.
We're definitely going back.

SPORTS SIZE!!. I only go to chianti on pasta special night ( Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) with sports size the whole dish comes to 15 bucks which is amazing seeing how much food you're getting!! The pasta is also delish :)
New owners seemed to have made it great again!. We recently went here for the first time in about five years and the food and service was excellent. The owner visited us at the table to check in and told us that he and his wife recently bought the restaurant to “turn things around.” He was passionate, friendly and determined to make the restaurant the best it can be. We’ve actually gone back and the service and food quality was the same so we’ll keep coming back. Some notables are: lots of variety on the menu, nice décor, fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar is served with every meal, good portion size for reasonable price.
Very nice selection of Italian dishes, mostly pasta. Servers very nice, food came very quickly. Parking a bid odd- you come in the back door and have to walk through the restaurant to get to the front where you check in
Great Time!. We were at Chianti's last week with 8 people for a birthday party. It was great. The service was excellent, the food was EXTREMELY good value and the meals themselves were scrumptious. All 8 people enjoyed their pasta. I will definitely go back.
Fantastic!. It's been a long time since I went to Chianti and was unsure of what to expect. I ordered the caesar salad to start and was blown away by how fresh the lettuce was and how it had the right amount of garlic in it. For the main course I had the tortellini alla panna and again was so impressed by how well the sauce and the pasta tasted. To top things off the service was wonderful and the atmosphere was pleasant, it is seldom that I ever tip 25% but I felt like the server deserved it. I couldn't believe how empty the place was on a Saturday night. I will definitely be going there again.
Mediocre food except for the calamari. For some reason I really like it here with the tomato sauce for dipping.
Hard bread. I really liked trying this Chiantis out. It gave me a whole new perspective on what kinds of restaurants are out there. My supremo was awesome, needless to say. But the bread was kind of hard as rock. Guess they were trying to make it more italian. XD

Decent food, Awesome service, Fantastic evening!. I have been to this restaurant over the years and the food has always been consistent, and on their cheap pasta nights ($7.99, Sunday – Tuesday) it’s a great deal! Sometimes their service is not so good, bordering on tolerable, but the night I went in with my parents (June 11) our server, Hugh, was amazing!!!
Arriving around 6pm the restaurant was about 3⁄4 full. A waitress showed us to a table right away and said our waiter would be over shortly. Knowing that this is not really authentic Italian cuisine, Chianti still has a very interesting selection of pastas with tasty ingredient combinations.
We weren’t going to have any wine, but as soon as our waiter, Hugh, burst onto the scene announcing the wine special was buy a glass of wine, get the second for half price, it got our attention. Problem was, there were only three of us, and try as we might to bargain, we ended up going with the deal! (Glass of wine starting at $7.99)
Hugh brought us out some fresh, hot bread and poured olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. The bread had a light topping of rock salt and with the oil and balsamic dip, went tremendously together. The bread disappeared quickly so when our wines came out, we asked for more. Happily and enthusiastically, Hugh got us more (which hasn’t always happened in the past!).
In that I hadn’t been here in a while, I felt like there were some new menu items, all of which sounded tasty. My mother ordered the Penne Alla Campesino (chicken breast, pineapple and sun-dried tomatoes in a curry cream sauce), my father had the Linguini Alla Vongole (baby clams in a white wine sauce) and was talked into adding baby shrimp to compliment the dish for an additional $2. I opted to try the Carciofi Diablee (chicken, artichoke red pepper and spinach in a spicy basil cream sauce served over spinach fettuccini). Had it not been for the Special Pasta Night, all of these dishes would have cost $11.
While waiting for our meals, Hugh checked in on us with a joking and playful nature rarely seen in servers anymore. His energetic stories entertained us and kept us laughing the whole time!
Our meals arrived nice and hot, and with fantastic aromas! Next we received toppings of ground black pepper and freshly grated parmesan cheese – to our likings.
The flavour in my meal was amazing especially when a lot of the ingredients are of a subtle nature, but in the spicy basil cream sauce, it seemed to enhance the entire dish, with each mouthful a beautiful blend of distinct flavours. The chicken was lean and juicy and the vegies were a nice amount so that nothing over shadowed anything else. The spinach fettuccini added a lot of colour to this meal so overall a mouth-watering presentation!
The curry in my mother’s meal was pleasantly noticeable without being too overbearing . The pineapple added a wonderful sweetness to the mixture and the sun-dried tomato and chicken finished off everything nicely.
My father loved the baby clams and the baby shrimp, which were a very generous portion. For only $2 extra, this is a good deal. The seafood was quite fresh which the aroma had alluded to.
My parents and I left the restaurant very full and very satisfied, but it was the interaction with Hugh that really made the difference! He had made the evening fun and light and genuinely seemed to care how we were doing. A refreshing change here, where the service has been rather average in the past. A note to the manager: Keep this waiter on at all costs! He’s a gem!
Overall, I was quite happy with the food – it is consistently good and on pasta nights, extremely great value! I would recommend this cozy restaurant for those who need to mellow out after a long day’s work and have some delicious comfort food!
I personally enjoy the pasta here and think it's a good price. Don't like the bread served beforehand.
Solid. I used to go to Olive Garden for italian but I find Chianti is the same thing or better for less cash and shorter wait times. It's not the best food I've ever had but you get what you pay for and it's 100 times better than I could ever cook. The creme sauce in the mushroom pasta is to die for.

New, fresh & homemade!. Last week I went and had their new featured entree Trance Salmon Penne... soooo good! The salmon was moist and juicy and the pasta tasted homemade! I've coming here for the past 3 years and it had never tasted this good. I gotta say that they've definitely made dramatic improvements to their food. Two thumbs up! This is now my favourite Italian restaurant.
Great food, excellent service! The waiters here are exceedingly attentive and friendly. I brought my wife and boy here for pasta night on Tuesday. The food was fantastic. Much better than places like Boston Pizza. Comparing to the last time we came here in November, they really have improved the quality of their food. It's fresh and tasty. I would highly recommend this restaurant now if you're looking for great Italian food with excellent service and great prices!
Great food, exceptional service, and great value!. Service is usually quite fast. Food is delicious made with gourmet ingredients. Presentation is great. Service is very professional. All at the cost of eating at Dairy Queen. A definite place to eat on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday for $7.99 pasta.
The more things change.... This is the original Chianti that has endured the test of time. Took the kids there on a fast dinner night (on our way to a kids activity). The service was a bit slow to start, but picked up and the menu was very good for kids. They were satisfied and so were parents with a nice house wine list. Just don't expect too much...so one spit from Middleton the Alpaca!

A-OK. Chianti's is consistently OK, and has pasta prices you can't argue with. My favourite is the curry ravioli.
Quite good. Had the bruschetta and primavera penne. The bread with the bruschetta was a little dry and a little too much tomatoes. But the primavera was surprising. Not what I expected but very mediteranian feeling. Atmosphere is very relaxed yet the waitresses just zoom by with the water and food. No time to stop and ask who everything is. Sorta like an Italian fast food restaurant but with medal forks and paper napkins.

Kick ass feature special at Chianti. Went to Chianti on the New Year Day. Hardly see anyone open on New Year Day on 17th AVE, but Chianti did. Excellent service and great tasty Italian food at a totally affordable price. I have learned the 2 main chiefs have worked for Chianti 18 year and 16 years, no wonder foods were so awesome; service was excellent too, very friendly waitress and made a great suggestion from their daily special.
Just came back from a trip, visited Chianti few days ago. Tried their feature special this time (regular menu is way too big, lucky they have daily special and feature special everyday). Amazing!!!!!! Basa fish was huge, 16 oz probably, it was bigger than my foot, that's for sure. Basa was slowly pan fried, topped with fresh tomato in dill-cream sauce; it came with Pan fried garlic LOBSTER ravioli. PERFECT!!!! O... it came with choice of soup or salad for only $18.99. You just can't find this deal anywhere else. Again, waitress was very nice, service was excellent, great atmosphere. Have to go more often now, maybe try something on the regular menu next visit.
Good Times..... My boyfriend and I eat here often. A great place for a date or to grab a quick meal. Can be busy but there are many tables and the food wait time isn't so bad. The staff are nice and the pop has unlimited refills! YAY.
Good....especially on a budget!. What can I say? Chianti's provides a decent Italian dinner and, for those on a budget, it's unbeatable. The restaurant has the kind of faux-Italian kitschy feel that one expects from a chain restaurant. It's not great food but it's really not bad at all. I mean, if they were $20 - $30 entrees I'd have some problems with the chef but, at Chianti's prices, I really have nothing bad to say. And, if you go on Sunday, Monday, or tuesday, their entire pasta menu is only $7.99. You really can't beat that deal!
