The food here is fantastic. I've been to the buffet a couple times with my family and boyfriend, and been impressed each time with both their selection and quality of food. The last time I was here, we arrived towards the end of the buffet, our server was still very friendly and even insisted on getting us fresh ginger beef and shrimp with vegetables (both were excellent). He offered to top off a couple other dishes for us as well, but we declined because he had already exceeded our expectations, and we didn't want to be wasteful. Honestly we knew we'd be getting the end of the buffet, and decided we still wanted to go despite knowing the selection would be picked over, we were blown away by our servers attitude and insistence at getting us fresh food.
I've also picked up from here once, and got their combo for one deal. It was a ton of food and a great value for the price. The same server was there, and again was very friendly and pleasant.
Went here for the lunch buffet and was pleasantly surprised. Very clean and nicely decorated interior. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Food options and quality in the buffet were great and always replenished quickly. I will definitely be back!
Solid small mom and pop Chinese Buffett place. They have parking. They keep their quantities small and replenish throughout. It's out lasted Shokudo across the way. Like any other Buffett some things were better than others. Some highlights would chilli pepper calamari.. wings...xui long bow.... one thing we did not like is the baby charge. Babies are charged 3.95 at the buffet. Small but hey the baby drinks out if the bottle. They have a mediocre dessert and ice cream bar. But for the price it's good enough.
We always go to Gold Bistro for Chinese food because we have had excellent service, good tasting food and a good variety. The food is constantly being refilled so hot and fresh.
Great buffet! I don't understand the negative reviews about Gold Bistro. I have been here numerous times and always want to come back. The selection is good and the quality is above par. Its not Sun Island Eatery but its a buffet and if you are hungry Gold Bistro is a good destination. The fried chicken is awesome and the shumai is very tasty. My only complaint would be the ice cream...stay away from the old, mixed and over frozen ice cream.
No MSG, yet full of flavor!. We ordered 5 dishes for takeout.
Ginger Beef, Salt and Pepper Squid, Mixed Veg, Szechuan Chicken and the Seafood Chow-mien.
All were tasty and they even made the veggie dishes minus Mushrooms as requested. Portions aren't massive but the quality is there.
It's not Ho Won, but we're not near Chinatown.

Good lunch buffet. We have had lunch at this restaurant twice and have been vey satisfied both times. The food selection is more than adequate for a lunch and was kept warm and inviting looking. Service was very friendly and our water glasses were kept full. I will definitely be going back.
I recently moved to New Brighton from Midnapore and was disappointed with the awful Chinese food in the area. Gold Bistro has always been a favorite and have regularly made exceptions to their "service area" and delivered to me. Always a good experience and consistently great food!
Not expensive by any means but pricier than some other chinese buffets. That said its well worth the cost and is actually quite decent for buffet food. Good variety as well
Decent buffet....just not warm enough. So its been 6 months since i last had Chinese food. And i turned to Urbanspoon to guide me in the right direction.
It led me to a place close by called Gold Bistro, its tucked away in a small strip mall, not noticeable at all from a roadway.
Once entering i noticed it's small size and small buffet. After being sat we walked to the buffet and glanced it over, the lack of size was over shadowed by the food dishes it was being served.
They had all the typical fare: Ginger Beef, Sweet and Sour Pork, Palace Style chicken but they also had some different dishes not normally found on a small buffet line, such as Prawns and Asparagus in oyster sauce, real steamed Chinese dumplings (dim sum style), black bean and pork and spicy chicken.
Over all it was a satisfying meal, my only complaint was that the food was not hot enough. For $15,99 a person this makes this place a good stop as its cheap, good food and wont leave you hungry.

Best Chinese food in Calgary, hands down.. Gold Bistro is truly my favorite Chinese place in Calgary. They don't use any MSG in any of their food (which is nice because I am allergic). The peking duck and gai long Chinese brocoli are delicious. The service is always great and it is my family's favorite spot.
