Love this place. Their Poppyseed cake is the best I've had outside Austria and Germany. Their apple slice is a perfect combination of apple pie and cake. It's really affordable too. Highly recommended
Today was my day off. I needed a walk and decided to go down for some of the fantastic offerings at Rustic. The quality cannot be beat, Love the sourdough bread and the cookies. I used to have a store across the street, went almost daily for lunch. The Sandwiches are made for you specifically, they are not pre-made. Go you will not be disappointed.
I've had a few items from their location at the farmers market. Their banana bread is unreal. I love their pretzel rolls. The shortbread and sugar cookies are really good. Staff is friendly and everything looks very fresh. It's a good stop.
So fresh!. Cheesecakes are the best in the world! Bread is so fresh and delicious! Love finding new hidden gems. The deli also offers great sandwiches.
Best deli/bakery. Does not get better then this ;home made soup, fresh sandwiches fresh bread baked daily , best staff! Love this place! Highly recommended.
I absolutely adore this place! As long as the staff is well trained and friendly I'll be a regular customer.
Sandwiches. I go to this place for sandwiches because they are by far the best in the city. They pile the meat and ingredients on fresh baked bread and it just can't be beat. I have picked up a few things from the bakery side and they have all been delicious. They also have lots of cool imported treats and snacks.
The Best Cake and Pastry so far in Calgary. Rustic is by far the best provider of cake and pastry in Calgary. I have tried a few types of cakes and liked them a lot, all. I am not a fan of deli sandwiches so I wouldn't comment on them but everything I have tried in bakery has been good. Once I ordered a Birthday Cake and the it was ready on time and everything in place unlike the previous year that the ordered cake was a disaster and not even edible from another place!
This bakery has the best bread if you like true European bread . They use only the best ingredients and no preservatives or things like calcium propionate or dough conditioners. It is crusty on the outside and yummy inside. Their pretzel buns are good too ... Try them. They also have sunflower seed bread with pumpkin seeds in it - very good with cream cheese and so good for you! The baked goods are fantastic too - the apple strudel is not overly sweet like most places so much healthier. They will let you order and pick it up later as sometimes they sell out fast. They are attached to a deli which is convenient.
The most amazing sandwiches and the girls who work there are amazing
I think it's like the best sandwich I've ever had. And one girl always remembers my boyfriends order off by heart, it's cute.
Great sandwich!. I ordered a half grilled sandwich - rye bread with thinly sliced/juicy roast beef, all the vegetables, and mustard. The sandwich came with a large pickle and some carrots. Delish! I can't wait to try some of their daily specials and soups. The entire meal only set me back $5.00. I also bought an apple pie. Incredible crust, sweet and flaky.
Hand made deliciousness. I love the fact that I can get a nice big hand-made sandwich with quality ingredients for a reasonable price.
While they often struggle to keep up with demand, it is well worth wading through the lineup at lunch time to get something lovely.
BREAD!!!. Once you gone down this road you can't go back, so beware!!
Best in the city by far and since many other stores carry the Rustic bread they can't be far off the mark.
The exceptional attention to quality and customer service will continue to be what brings customers in and brings them back.
Although the grain breads are great, try the sourdough. You will never have to go to San Francisco again.
It's all about the bread. I purchased a loaf of rye bread...loved the crunchy outside and soft inside and the taste was great! I also picked up a dozen assorted cookies...boring and bland. Stick with the amazing breads. I have not tried any of their pastries, but they are on my taste test list.
Great baker & deli. One of my favourite lunches on a Saturday is to stop into Sourdough. I'll pick up some fresh homemade soup, cold cuts & cheese on the deli side, then some fresh bread and dessert on the bakery side. Then I'll take it home and dig in.
All of the cold cuts are high quality. One thing they do that I really like, is they label where they got the meat. They use a number of local suppliers, and the quality is quite high.
I've occasionally eaten there, but with only about three tables, there often isn't much room. Since they sell all of the key ingredients, I usually buy them and assemble at home. I also get a bit extra to have a few extra sandwiches for the next few days.
From the bakery, my favourite is the fudge linzer slice. It is a wonderful hazelnut pastry with lots of fudge. On the deli side, they have a great selection of salami & headcheese. I know that headcheese isn't for everyone, but if you ever want to try some, the quality and selection at Sourdough is hard to beat.
