Pretty much as good as western Chinese food can get....decent prices and portions sizes are good too!!! Staff is super friendly and eager to please!!
Food was really good! Mushroom Egg Foo Young is outstanding. I would order again. Portions were reasonable. And no MsG which is excellent. Rice is a little bland but ok with saucy food.
The food was tasty, they serve you a pot of herbal tea as soon as you enter the restaurant. I tried the beef fried rice and chicken hot pot which was tasty and service was really quick.
Great place and decent, quality food! I took my 2 year old here and they were very accommodating, they must have checked on us at least 10 times throughout the course of the meal, something you would not expect in a Chinese restaurant. No MSG is an added bonus. Will visit again!
This spot is amazing for well priced, good Chinese food! Been coming here for a while now and the quality is consistent. Sometimes, the meat portions are lacking but overall it's flavourful and doesn't disappoint. Delivery is pretty quick too and staff are friendly.
Took mY Sister, Mom and Wife here for Birthday Dinners (2 of us) for the first time April 3, 2016. My sister has a gluten allergy and my mother can be quite picky.
The food was AMAZING! Hot, fresh cooked to perfection!
Palace Style chicken is my favourite dish at any Chinese Food restaurant and it can be hard to find a good one, this is the best I ever had! Even my picky mother LOVED IT!
The Lemon chicken my sister ordered was epic and it was great to see a home made lemon sauce not some can or package crap.
My wife loves duck and ordered the Fried Duck and Pineapple, normally I am not a fan but my god, the duck was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth.
This was an amazing experience and will be the ONLY Chinese food I get from now on, I want to take all my friends there!

I am always searching for good Gluten Free options, heard of this one, thought I'd try. I confirm it is still operating as I went Sun Nov 08, 2015. At 6pm a few tables were open but take-out was lined up. Once I ordered I was advised it would be ready in 14 min however I had to wait for 42 min total (timed it), but they were nicely apologetic so I wasn't concerned. I love good food, always seeking fresh and great flavor, my humble comments: 1) pork dumpling-tender (not over fried which I like) but not very flavorful (just bland) and oil for dipping was super boring with chili's on bottom, so boring I ended up ignoring it. 2) GF lemon chicken-I appreciate having a GF coating but was just deep fried chicken bites-mild, and lemon sauce was clear which can be good for me but not at all lemony so I'll have to zing it up at home myself for the remaining portions-disappointing cause then I may as well just cook at home. 3) spring rolls-nicely crispy, a tad greasy, and very boring-a vegetarian type person might appreciate them tho 4)pan fried scallops-big serving of steamed vegetables with bland sauce and a few wet scallops sprinkled in along with many large wet whole mushrooms, whole thing was a bit of a let-down if you are a seafood lover. Overall I gave it 3.5 as the place is repeatable, seemed fresh enuff, and I appreciate GF options so I would likely try again especially if hungry after skiing or something. But if I was taking 3 friends for a great meal this wouldn't impress the group. I've had wayyy worse but I've had much better as well. I'll keep searching.

I have been coming here on my own and with friends for years, as a friend of mine showed me this place. The food is very tasty, portions are great and the war won ton soup is to die for.

Update to this original post: Still my go to choice for GF Chinese food! Gluten Free Keeps Me Coming Back!. This has been my go-to restaurant for years. They offer Gluten-Free options on most things on the menu. Enough choice to make it very good for anyone with this restriction to still be able to enjoy Chinese Food.
My family and friends really enjoy the food and all say they really don't notice that some items are gluten free.
I don't know why they can make Ginger Squid but not Ginger Chicken or Beef though!

Still good. I started coming here twenty years until I moved away. The same people have been running and they still remember me, even though it has been 10 years. Thee service is great and friendly.
About the food: it is great. I came for a visit and this was a must go to for its dumplings, the hot and sour soup, the ginger fried beef, and the salt and pepper squid.
A family classic. My family has been going to Oriental Palace for years now. Most of us have moved away from Calgary but we always make a point to go and order our favourite dishes when we are in town. The ginger beef, beef on a skewer, sizzling rice, dumplings, shrimp and cashew hot plate and the mixed vegetables are just some of the family favourites!
Oriental Palace is a terrific little restaurant owned by a very friendly family. The ginger beef, sizzling rices, and the chicken and shrimp hot plate are fantastic. In addition, the Salt and Pepper Scallops are to die for (note: these are not on the money).
A must try. My wife and I have been looking for good Chinese for years to no avail. I came onto Urban Spoon yesterday to choose one we've never been to and Oriental Palace caught my eye. Don't be put off by the simple exterior as it was the best I've had in quite a long time. We had the chicken fried rice with pineapple chicken, ginger beef, spring rolls to start and a pot of green tea (served as soon as you sit). Everything was amazing including the friendly staff. We will go again.
Nice flavours and good size portions. Unique dishes I havnt had before. Delivery took about an hour but food was hot and fresh when it arrived. 10% off on cash picks ups and free delivery if you're near by!
Wonderful Family Run Chinese Restaurant. This restaurant is overall an awesome place! The couple that run it are very friendly. The food is always delicious. They go out of their way to make sure you are happy. It's not fancy on this inside but that is one of the reasons we love it. We have been there three times now and will keep going.
Driving home to medicine hat from fairmont decided to come through the park just so we could stop here, been waiting outside for it to open for 45 mins, so excited to eat the best Chinese cuisine in Alberta, been coming here since I was a kid (almost 20 years)
Delicous, and friendly service. This is one of those "been here forever" neighborhood restaurants, and for good reason. The food is great, and the staff are very friendly. The salt and pepper tofu (aka bean curd) was a little crispy, like it should be, and was nice and spicy. The mushroom egg foo yung was fantastic. Really enjoyed it. I will be back!

Great food, good prices, wonderful staff. Have been a regular here for over 2 decades. The staff are super friendly & the menu items are always speedily prepared & nicely presented. My favourite is the wonderful satay beef skewers appetizer & tender, crispy ginger beef. All their sauces complement the food with extra left over to add to the perfectly cooked steamed rice. Come early as the place is small & fills up fast.
Been there for years. Food is hit or miss.I was there tonight and had the garlic ribs.Not so good covered in batter.What happened to ribs that used to be like little ribs in a garlic sauce they were tasty.The place is in need of renovation,no atmosphere at all.Owners are great.I have been going off and on for 20 years.

Yummmmmy!. Fifteen years ago someone recommended the ginger beef at Oriental Palace as being "the best ginger beef in Calgary" so I tried it, and they were right! Since then I've never gone anywhere else for my ginger beef fix, and I don't even live anywhere near there! Their food is best!
Oriental Palace is great! I've lived nearby for two years and love the food there. Always fresh and delivery comes very quick. The dumplings are fantastic-- as well as the hot tea served, if you dine in.

This is a great restaurant,we ve been there couple of times and we love the buffet. I like the salad best and the other course are great too in the buffet..
AWESOME GLUTEN FREE CHINESE FOOD!. Being a Celiac and finding a wonderful place to eat is sometimes difficult. What a joy it is to go to the Oriental Palace! They have over 70 dishes that can be made GLUTEN FREE. Their GF lemon chicken was the best I have ever eaten;even my non GF husband agreed. The service was friendly and the food was plentiful and delicious. For all four of us the bill was just $60. We were stuffed and we had a doggie bag to go.
SIZZLING RICE!. Our family has been going to Oriental Palace for years and we have never been disappointed in any dish that we have ordered.
We ALWAYS order at least one variety of Oriental Palace's FABULOUS sizzling rice - they excel at it and never cheap out on the ingredients. It's actually a meal in itself, if you please.
Nothing really exotic or fancy about the decor (i.e nothing Palatial) or items on the menu - check the daily board for specials - most times there is something interesting up there and it's always fresh and perfectly prepared.
The service is fast, friendly and familiar. We are always recognized and greeted when we arrive with a correct prediction that an order of sizzling rice is required.
April 16/2009 Update: Still Happy!
In addition to our "usuals", we ordered the Peking Duck as we were entertaining out-of town visitors - we were not disappointed. The duck was roasted and sliced to perfection and the fresh, warm and floury pancakes/wraps were excellent.
The food was pretty good. It was hot, tasted fresh; was not over salted or greasy. We ordered grilled pork and vegetable dumplings, three kinds of seafood with bean curd hot pot and stir fried mixed vegetables. Being cheap, I made my own steamed rice while waiting.
