I went on a week day around 11am to Home & Away, the place was empty so we were the only ones being served. There is plenty of seating, and the food is excellent! I ordered the knockout burger with a salad on the side. The taste of both the burger and salad was different than your typical beef burger ! My friend got the BBQ chicken sliders which also had a unique flavor. I love how there food takes a twist on flavor!! Recommend for food and service !!
Neat bar on 17 ave with very attentive and kind waitresses ! The onion rings are battered similar to how they batter fish - so super tasty my only request would be to have more sauce to dip them into. Games playing all over and fun games to play at the table. Definitely a neat spot.
Haven't been here in a little while and glad I popped back in. The updates to the space make it look a lot more fitting for a sports bar/kitchen.
Had a caesar, and it was loaded with a pickle, cube of cheese, green bean, and a peppercini. The size was decent and it was tasty. We are off to a good start.
Ordered the Cubano and the fried chicken for the lady.
Asked the server why our food was taking a little longer even though we were the only customers at lunch time. Answer: fresh food will take a little longer, and also apologized.
Food came, it was worth the wait. The Cubano was portioned to eat half and take home the rest, and the lady did the same with her remaining two out of three pieces of chicken. Sides were great (mac and cheese, and pickles for her), I had supreme fries which despite being fondue cheese on top and jalapeño slices, was just okay.
I'd come back for sure, great visit. Server was friendly and polite.
This is a pretty neat sports bar on 17th Ave. They have some games that you can pay for and play. We've been down a couple of times now with some friends and the service has always been great. We've only eaten appetizers here, but they've been pretty good. We'll be back again sometime soon to see if they can deliver a good dinner too!
You can watch sports, listen to great music, and not have to eat bad pub food. The games are fun and the place is big and never too loud or crowded. Great weekly specials!
Home and away is great. Elevated food, not much classic pub fare but what is traditional is very good while still being nuanced. Good music, friendly staff. Real nice.

This a great place, the food is great, the service is good, and overall the atmosphere is fun! It holds true to the name in that you're able to feel at home and kick back and relax. The food is definitely much better than just "pub food," I would recommend the Home Dog. Great place on the weekends, I love that games are free on Sundays. This is definitely a place for people who enjoy community and are open to chatting with the tables around them. A great addition to Calgary's ever expanding list of restaurants.
This place is delicious. Great food, and atmosphere. Fun place to get together with friends; play some games and some beers. Happy hour all day Sunday with free games!
Love this place, I have been a few times now and the service is very consistent. The patio and games are awesome. The fried chicken is the best.

Loved the food and the atmosphere every time I've been there! The decor is so cute and the giant Connect 4 is enough to have me coming back over and over.
WARNING: do NOT come here on the weekends (at night) for a meal and expecting good service. This bar is really only for drinking on the weekend. Music is blasting and servers are running back and forth from the bar, rarely checking your table. The food here isn't that great either and is over priced.
Now that I got the negative part out of the way, this place is GREAT for a fun night out drinking. Best time is to come on Sundays when the games are free! Had a great time playing connect four while a little tipsy. Definitely a fun stop when walking down 17th.
Ordered the nachos. they were unlike any typical pub style nachos I've seen. They had a fresh home made salsa that tasted great. The cheese sauce was creamy and light. I was a little taken back when I didnt see any real toppings, but overall their take on nachos was pretty good.
Love this place! Super fresh addition to 17th Ave and a really fun place to come for dinner and drinks, plus the games are super fun and only $1! Loved the Beef Tartare and the Fried Chicken, the burger was also delicious and comes with a heap of fries!! But the best was the Crispy Cauliflower and the Wings!! Will be back!
I had the cheese and Salsa fries. The food Wes very good and kept the beer coming fast: only complaint is the music was to loud. Would recommend as a beer spot on 17
I love this place. Food is outstanding. The staff are always friendly. The menu is always changing with new and creative dishes. This is by far my favorite bar in the city.
Been here a few Times. Service has been solid and I like supporting a locally owned bar vs a chain. They have some smaller craft beers which is nice. Cauliflower was alright but breaking a bit heavy. Popcorn shrimp is interesting for sure, a tad bit greasy. Fried chicken Monday special is a nice idea but chicken was a bit dry and pieces were tiny. The stadium nachos were good but give the customer more cheese for $14 please!
Came in for a quick pint and bite before another appointment on a Frida with my wife.
Even had her favorite soda Grizzly Paw black cherry soda.
Sat at the bar and the bartender was great.
Had the squid and also the cauliflower bites.
Both were absolutely delicious .
Hit them at happy hour pint of beer $4.50
Will be coming back regularly and we live at least 20 minutes away.
This sports pub is the latest addition to 17th ave's food scene, creating another option for diners that are looking for a casual place to grab a bite and hang out. I thought that they did a good job with the beers on tap, offering a pretty diverse amount of beers. I ordered the mac and cheese, and was left feeling a little bit mixed about it. The first few bites were pretty flavourful, but after a few more, the dish felt quite heavy due to the amount of sauce settling on the bottom. Overall, might come back to try some of the other menu items, or play a few rounds of skee-ball.
Good food for a pub. Basketball game was broken when I came, wings were really well prepared. Hot Dog was a miss.... Doubt i'll make it back.
Interesting place. Bartender Amanda was great. Skeeball was a plus! Onion rings were battered and really good. Wings were a small portion but the honey glaze was spot on. Kind of pricey for no vegetables besides home pickled peppers. Will return to try some more items.
I finally got to visit the newest addition to the 17th Ave scene, Home & Away. The concept for this restaurant was the brainchild of the same people that brought us Craft Beer Market, Commonwealth Bar & Stage and HiFi Club.
The space has completely transformed from its previous rendition, it now hosts a long bar takes over the south side of the space. Beside the bar, you will find some skee ball and basketball games. Beyond that, the space is filled with plenty of tables and booths, which can hold a lot of sports fans.
The menu features some traditional bar food that have been taken to another level. Chicken wings with in-house picked peppers, fried chicken with homemade hot sauce & grilled lemon and mac & cheese with pork belly smoked in-house. The menu also features some non-traditional items that obviously come from the Chef’s fine dining background such as beef tartare, fried cauliflower and tuna tostadas.
I'm impressed. Excellent burger, fries, beer (house lager from Big Rock but lots more on tap/in bottles), service, space, seating, and sound level is comfortable for conversation. End to end a class act. I was there for lunch and it was packed with actual grownups, not a dude bro in sight.
First time here with some friends last night. Glad I was able to call to make a reservations. Inside is very spacious, good for big groups of ppl. The buttermilk onions with good and the Cobb salad is better than I expected. The vingarette was nice on there and the Sunnyside up egg on top was a nice add. The ham hock pieces in the salad was very tasty. Our service was really good as well. I would come back again and try playing the skee ball and basketball game.
June 11, 2016 brunch for the first time and it was fantastic. Got the cakes & nugs and it was so good! Totally recommend it!
