I was probably very hungry and ready for a drink. Hudsons happen to be on the destination list for a friends bday.
We had the nachos platter which was okay, but usual porblems of picking apart a hot mess that cooled into a brick and the ingredients were standard.
The caesar was decent.
The wings were also satisfactory.

We have been here many times. Tonight we had dinner and drinks. The service was amazing even though they were completely slammed. We were very impressed with the service. Our servers name was Delayne and we had a few other staff members to our table. The food was normal pub food. Pretty good. The atmosphere at Hudsons is always fun and up beat. I really like the decor and wooden bar at the Hudsons locations. We will be back.
Came here for a friends birthday. Was pretty busy for a Saturday night but our server was friendly and came by often. Their Bellini was ok - tasted like syrup and was quite sweet. Their Caesar was good though and so was their jam jar vodka soda. The Cobb salad was made with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The chicken was cooked well and the cheese was good. The green chile dressing was a nice alternative to other more traditional dressings. Was a good experience.
Not much to differentiate this sports bar from others - still, it's not bad. We ate outside on a sunny lunch hour. Beer is about $6.75 for the majority of selections. My craft beer was reasonable. Most of the standards are there to choose from. Steak sandwich was the special. Closer to baseball style than a thin strip. No complaints with the steak or the fries. I liked the two extra onion rings as an added touch. My dining companion thought they were salty. Our service was friendly and efficient. As far as pubs in the south go, it can stay "on the list".
Came in here for dinner with my boyfriend and had a veggie quaesdilla with garden salad. The quaesdilla was really good but the salad was actually better! Fresh lettuce and real goats cheese with a nice dressing. Nice portion too. My boyfriend had the halibut and he was impressed with it. We ordered 3 drinks between the two of us and 2 meals. Bill was 53 not including tip. On par for the service and food. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. I'll go back again since it's close to where I live.
Typical sports bar with lots of room and lots of screens. Good choice of beer, wings were excellent. Server was super friendly as were management. Very busy a lot of the time; on a non game night Wed evening at 7pm we had to wait 15 mins for a table. Lots of free parking. 2 mins walk from LRT.
First time at a Hudson's and it was a very good experience. The Bartender Karlo was very knowledgeable, personable and provided great service! The Frickles were better than the average fried pickle and the maple aioli was fantastic. Crispy chicken avocado sandwich was top notch, partner loved it. I had the Shepards pie, very good, perfect portion size. The salad was more creative than most, including apples and a great house dressing. Prices are regular for a pub, and the $4 happy hour pints are a great deal. Had the house brew Lumberjack and it's really tasty. Extremely satisfied with the whole experience.
Great watering hole. Calgarians complain way too much. this place is just fine and they have awesome bartenders.
felt welcomed from the time I walked in.
will def go back again.
The service was good, very consistent with their follow ups ie: drinks, meals etc. good job except no one was dancing and the place was packed! Figure out how to get people moving especially with a live DJ there!
Staff was friendly and accommodating. We went during dinner rush on wing night so it was pretty busy. Our server was very friendly; wings were great, price was right. I'd go back if I lived here.
I enjoyed it. Ok, I realize there have been a lot of poor reviews for this location but I had 2 $20.00 off coupons, so now was my time to prove or disprove the ratings. First off, we noticed that most of the complaints were due to service. I know this can be an issue due to its location near the empire theatres. I suspect most people are trying to get a bite to eat before or after their movie. I wanted just to enjoy the experience, so I went at about 4:30pm with my wife specifically for dinner. The sign said “just pick a seat”, so we did and were quickly greeted by our server. I showed her my coupons and she honored them without complaint. With the place half full and lots of staff available, obviously they were getting ready for the rush. The menu is a simple 2 sided card, pasted to a board. We both selected the “Angry Shrimp and Steak” combo. It comes with two sides and I selected the garlic and bacon mashed potatoes and the smoked bacon and potatoes soup. I ordered the Steak Medium. By the way, it’s the most expensive on the menu at $25.00 and I also had a soda. The meal was served by 5:00pm so 30 minutes was used talking and watching the football game on the many TV’s available. Obviously the kitchen was not slammed.
I suspected the soup to come first but the meal came as one service. I suspect that is because the soup was ordered as a side dish. I had the soup first anyways and put aside my main. The soup was good but not great. I needed to add more pepper but I would order it again. I thought the steak was seasoned correctly but it was a bit over medium. The angry shrimp did have enough BBQ sauce on them to make them angry, so make sure you have a drink (they are hot). The mashed potatoes were very creamy and I bacony (if that is a word?).
I enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere and even though our server informed us she was going on a break, our backup server was attentive to us. The meal cost about $60.00 total for 2 people, not bad. With the $40.00 coupons it was a $20.00 meal so I was overly generous with the tip.
Altogether, I can say if you come here at the right time you should have a good time.
This place is warm , inviting and fun! The food is perfect and filling. Prices are unbeatable on their drinks and food. The service there is outstanding and Would recommend Hudson's Shawnessy to anybody looking for a great pub experience. A+++
Me Like!. I went here and got so drunk one night. Haha I don't remember if I liked it but I think I did.
Sooo worth going so delicious
Pulled Pork Sandwich. This is the best BBQ sandwich I have had in Calgary in some time. Look forward to going back. Only problem is that I may keep on ordering the Pulled Pork and not try anything else on the menu.
Best Pub In The South. Went there a while ago and have been abck a dozen times since they opened. The first thing that caught my eye was the dress code on the door to keep the gangs and riff raff out, such as backwards hats and skater attire. A breath of fresh air. The atmosphere is very Canadian and coupled with being overstaffed to ensure very high quality service, it is sure to always be full. Go early, or be prepared to circle and snatch the first available table. Everything I have tried food wise has been excelent, and the Beavertail beer by Big Rock is a must.
