Great wor wonton! Came here for lunch and had a great bowl of soup. The broth was nice and hot and all the ingredients were fresh and tasty.
Finally gave King's another try... and really enjoyed it! Had the Veggie Noodle Soup with pork wontons, my wife had the Queen's Wor Wonton with chicken dumplings and meat. Both types of wonton are juicy and flavourful, the broth is lovely, and the veggies are nice and healthy as well as tasty. Not a huge fan of the noodles, too doughy for my liking, but my wife liked them well enough. The ambience was like a cozy cafeteria, and the server was very nice. Just a note: the grill closes at 7:30, so get there before if you don't want to be limited to the soups and rice dishes.
Great lunch. All fresh ingredients.
The owner even came to check on everyone.
We had the war wonton and vermicelli bowls.
Next time we're in Calgary we'll try the other menu items.
Loved it! Went in and had the wor wonton and the appetizer platter two of us shared there were plenty of leftovers. It's very very filling and so light and delicious. Extremely friends and clean. I was worried about parking but it wasn't even an issue 6:30 on a Friday night. We will definitely be back to try some of the other menu items. We bought frozen soup and dumplings to take home both wor wonton and hot and sour. Love both so much.
Kings On the Hill offers consistently great food and is very conveniently located. They have a great menu that even includes breakfast! The wonton soup is delicious. I'll be back for sure!
A delight for us to visit for their delicious meals, sincere and friendly service and superb value. Our local favourite which we visit at least once a week. The Curry Wontons on vermicelli and the BBQ Pork Wonton Noodle Soup are a must try.
I absolutely love this place! The food is amazing. I usually get the lemongrass chicken with vermicelli, it's my favourite plate. The service is always fantastic and the food is always quick to come out. Would highly recommend this place!
Just had dinner at King's and loved it. We ordered the platter with dumplings, wonton and spring rolls, hot and sour soup with wonton and a classic king-size wonton soup. Everything was fresh and tasty, service was excellent and they carry Mighty Leaf tea, which we'd never tried before but loved. The place is also super clean and wasn't busy while we were there, although there was a steady flow of people picking up take-out orders. We were happy to have the space so our 18-month-old could roam around without bothering other diners. We were very tempted to grab some of their frozen wonton to bring home but think we will just walk over next time we have a craving. We'll definitely be back soon!
We had an excellent lunch the other day. I had never been to this location (can you imagine?) but met up with my son for lunch, and we were definitely very happy to have come here. I had the garlic ribs appetizer, which were really old school dry ribs with the perfect amount of garlic, accompanied by a sweet sauce (which I skipped). Excellent quality. They were the best I've had in many years, and the serving (for an appetizer) was quite large. Kris had the shrimp rolls, which he said were excellent. They looked very, very nice and fresh with nice, large shrimp. I also had the veggie & noodle soup, which was extremely tasty. Absolutely delicious broth; large fresh and lovely veggies, including lots of broccoli, carrots and mushrooms. The noodles were the perfect size. I couldn't be happier. Kris has the chicken stir fry, which he said was excellent. It sure looked good. The service was very good and friendly. I would come back here any time and try many items on their small but excellent menu. Yes, you gotta eat here! Parking: 1/5. (There was road maintenance all around, which wasn't their fault.) Service: 5/5. Presentation: 5/5. Ambience: 4/5. Portion Size: 5/5 Flavors: 5/5. Value: 5/5.
New location is absolutely awesome. Food was outstanding as always. Hand made won ton noodles are incredible and soon (now?) will be available with chicken as well as pork. Alfredo, founder, and his daughters Christina and Angela were there and they were so friendly and made sure we were happy. I've been eating King's wor won ton soup for years and looking forward to eating it for years and years to come. Delicious. And a fantastic hard-working family success story too! Keep up the great work!
Always great food and service at King's on the hill. Not only do we frequently stop in for great soup and dumplings, we're also addicted to the take out frozen dumplings and hot sauce that can be bought in store.
The Great food was everything I expected of a Kings restaurant. Great little place and fast service. Parking can get kinda dicey but come before lunch and dinner service and watch the food come rolling out. What more could you ask for?
Great place friendly staff. Adriana is super friendly and greets you once you have come to the restaurant once. Super special from 2-5 for $5. You have to check the place out.
Fantastic. Big fan of Kings for a long time, I get the classic Wor Wonton every time I'm there (with the signature got sauce of course.) The new location is very clean, with inviting and up to date décor. Would definitely recommend for lunch or dinner, and I'm eager to try their new breakfast offerings!
Fantastic Wor Wonton; big portions, great flavour, and fresh veggies every time. Not to mention their signature garlic chilli sauce–to die for!
Not only is the food great, but the service is fantastic; the owner/manager is really friendly and checked in on us several times during our meal to make sure we were enjoying everything.
We left feeling satisfied and we'll definitely come back!
What can I say, Kings has a great new addition to the Edmonton trail breakfast scene. Excellent food, friendly service and sweet owners. Thanks Kings!
I've heard about King's for many years but have never tried their original store. I don't have a basis to compare but I understand why people have love their food. I'm working down their menu section by section. On the noodle side, I am partial to their Chow Mein with Cripsy Wontons and BBQ Pork Ribs with Vermicelli. Appetizer-wise, I really like their Salad Combo (Kale Salad with 2 Salad Rolls), Grilled Pork Dumplings and Spring Rolls. The Sweet Ginger Poutine was delicious and it's meant to be shared. The portions are single-serving perfect and the prices are very reasonable. I haven't tried their rice bowls or wonton soup since the weather's been so hot. There'll be many opportunities considering Calgary's weather patterns. I am happy and happily fed.
I was looking for a brunch place with my dad on Father's Day and the usual suspects on Edmonton Trail had massive lineups. That is when I saw the sign outside King's advertising a brunch special. Food was very good, had eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. Everything cooked just right, potatoes had a nice flavor and the bacon was more meat than fat. Staff was amazingly friendly, the owner even chatted with us and wished us a happy Father's Day. I think the real attraction for this place is its soups (especially the wor wonton) and I can hardly wait to go back and try them.
