This place was so good! And like others have said, it's a hidden gem of a place found in the Westbrook mall food court. The beef is lean, local beef, and toppings such as cheese and sautéd mushrooms and onions are no extra charge! I got the 1/4lb for under $6 full loaded and the burger was juicy and the bun was just right! I think just bacon costs more. They also have amazing looking poutines which you can also get in varying sizes. The customer service was very good and I liked the small touch of giving tic tacs out for free for your post meal burger breath. Oh and they have cherry and Vanilla Coke! I'll be back for some poutine for sure and a burger!
Dragon's Lair Burger is probably my hubbie's favourite in Calgary but, I think the bun/meat ratio is a bit low unless you double the patty which means I can't finish BUT, I don't like reheated burger so, it feels like a waste. The burger patty is very tasty, topping choices are excellent and the fries are solidly good. Even better that one order of poutine is enough for both kids.
The Westbrook Mall is a bit...sketchy. Also, limits DLB to mall hours. As such, the location is unfortunate and holding back overall appeal...in my opinion...
I love this place! My fiancee and I love to go here during sunday's (at least once a month) to enjoy a cheeseburger and their poutine (to die for!). I always get the dill pickle poutine, since I am a pickle addict LOL! The staff are extremely friendly and definitely knowledgeable when it comes to making the fries. Always super crispy and fresh! I highly suggest this place to anyone who is craving a burger or poutine while "recovering" from a Saturday night bon fire ;)
What a great spot !!! Staff are super friendly and the burgers are amazing ! Made to order and with all kinds of fresh toppings and sauces. We all loved it ! We tried regular burgers, veggie burgers, fries and sweet potato fries. We will be going back !
I visit at least once a month for my cheat meal. The burgers are extraordinary and the poutine is marvellous ;) The lettuce disappoints me, but .... It's lettuce.

I feel like it doesn't belong in the Westbrook mall in the food court and would be a popular stand alone restaurant. Regardless this is one of my favourite burger places and you have my business for life.
They heated up the bun and melted the cheese on the patty- two basic things I look for for a good burger. Good homemade style burger with good choice of toppings for price ($4.95- 1/4lb cheese burger).
I really came to try the poutine, but was dissappointed as the fries were not home cut and the gravy not thick enough or very flavourful.
On the whole I would recommend this place for burger, but not fries/poutine, if you are in the area.

My favourite restaurant is always one that I haven’t tried before. I love going out to new places. So over the weekend we headed over to Westbrook mall, and enjoyed Dragon’s Lair, located in the food court.
Love that I can choose what to go on my burger. The staff were nice and quick.
I think the meat itself could use a bit of salt, unless you get the bacon on it.
The bun had a funny sandy feeling on it, but is unoticed in the oral cavity.
I really enjoyed my meal today, everything was quite well done for a place in a mall food court! I felt the bun was a little big for the burger and the gravy in the poutine tasted a little fake after a while. But who am I kidding? I will be back! They have quite an extensive menu.
Great burger. I popped in today to try their BurgerFest winning burger along with some poutine. The burger was great. The caramelized onion bacon jam added so much flavour. The poutine was good too, and the portion size was amazing. I'll be back.

Unexpected gem!. I had the 1/4lb beef burger with Swiss cheese, corn relish, pickles and dragon sauce - amazing! Westbrook mall would not be my first thought when thinking about good food, but clearly I should be a bit more open minded. The burger was flat topped fresh, with an Italian bun which was just enough bread and moisture, the toppings were a great bonus (plus any place that has a variety of relishes AND sauces is a win in my opinion). All in all, 5/5. Shocking, unexpectedly good. Plus, the staff was fantastic, they explained the menu to me plus told me about the owners and the restaurant.

Best Burger in Calgary ... hands down!. After reading some reviews, I decided to try this place for lunch to see if they could even get close to some of the better burgers in town. The patties were made fresh, in-house, we were told; extra lean *Canadian* beef (I liked that) and never frozen. Linda and I both had 1/4-pound bacon & cheese burgers, with different fresh toppings. The bun was an awesome soft Italian bun, which fit perfectly with the oh-so-beautifully charred burger.
Without any question, these were the best burgers we have ever had, anywhere in Calgary. Anywhere, period. Without qualification.
That's a big claim, I know. But, I have never enjoyed such a flavorful, obviously fresh, quality burger from any of the other upscale burger places around Calgary. This is simply the best. And it did not at all feel heavy.
They are located in old Westbrook Mall, of all places; a place where I haven't had anything to eat for many years. They are small, independent and trying to find their space in a competitive field. Based on quality and taste, they should have no problem.
Dragon's Lair Burger Co. is not your father's fast food outlet in a Mall. The service was exceptionally friendly and great at helping chose the toppings, which are right in front of you. The sautéed mushrooms were made fresh, right there and then, when I ordered them. Oh, wow.
This is absolutely my favorite burger place now; and I would find it difficult to go somewhere else. It would be like cheating on what you know is the very best burger in town. Thank goodness it's only about 5 minutes (driving) from home.
They have a lot of other interesting choices on their menu, including some poutine options. I was impressed. But you have to check it out yourself, and do your own taste test.

Ridiculously fantastic. Best burger in Calgary.. I've been to more burger places than I can count in Calgary- upscale at Farm and Buchanan's, trendy indie at Clive and Flipp'n, quality hole-in-the-wall at Naina's, upscale chains at Five Guys and Fatburger. This place beats them all.
Exceptional flat-top grilled thinner 1/4 lb patties done perfectly- a little crispy, moist, yielding to the bite. No baseballs of dried out meat.
I got a half-pounder. Two gorgeous patties with a slice of cheese on each patty.
Beautiful, soft, grilled bun.
Ample toppings choices. I got the dragon sauce (mayo catsup and Frank's) with grilled mushrooms and onions, pickle, and jalapeno but there are lots of other choices.
Fries are superb- just perfect fries.
I don't know what else to say except that this place should be the busiest in town. It's in the Westbrook Mall food court but don't let that deter you. This is the first burger I've ever had in Calgary that can go toe to toe with Burger's Priest in Toronto but it's cheaper and faster.

Excellent experience. Great burgers!. This was a great and surprising find in what's always been a generally crappy and sub-standard food court inside Westbrook Mall. This is not foodcourt food though. All very fresh, made to order and an all-round excellent burger. Great bun, fresh meat, great selection of toppings and sauces etc. I loved the subway-style choice of toppings and that you can tailor everything to make the exact burger you want. Staff were fantastic with attention to detail and - most importantly - the burger tasted awesome!!! This is now my go-to burger spot in the southwest. Well done guys. Hope word spreads and your business is a success.
Finally a decent burger joint in the SW. After a half hour tour taking me from Westhills, up to Westsprings and finally Westbrook mall, I was too hungry to travel any further and certainly not interested in battling traffic and parking to head into the core. Unwittingly, I stumbled into the Dragon's Lair. What a gem to find in Westbrook mall. The burger is handmade, buns selected for quality, sauces uniquely crafted and fresh burger toppings-a-plenty to satisfy your conscience for a bit of something healthy on your lunch time binge. On top of that, the service is the type you only receive from someone who has passion for pleasing others with their craft. All in all, a fantastic experience. I know how challenging the business can be, I wish this start up all the best and hope they keep up the quality. This is the exact type of decent quality food and a good price I love. I'll be back!
BEST BURGERS!!!!!!. I'm not much of a burger person, but when I heard of the burgers at Dragons Lair I had to at least try them. I was extremely impressed. I am now in love with their burgers, usually getting fresh sautéed mushrooms and onions with swiss cheese. Best mushroom and swiss burger!!!! Any time I am close to Dragons Lair I swing by for a quick meal. Its hard to beat their home made style french fries and unique poutines. Definitely a must try!!
In-store made patties and fries....chili and baked French onion soup also made in-store from fresh ingredients. The facade.could use some work but the food makes up for it.
Awsome. It was called extreme burger before and it was no good at all but now its under new management with the new name, the place also needs a new sign. i decided to try it and got the double dragon burger and a poutine. there are different toppings and sauces you can put on your burger and she will even satey your mushrooms and onions for you if you want. outside of a restaurant its one of the best burgers and poutine i have had in calgary.
