Went for lunch buffet and it was great! A bit on the small side compared to other Indian buffets, but worth the $13! We were the only ones there on A Monday so the staff was very attentive. Food was very tasty.
I had dinner 2 days ago with my friends,it was fantastic food and great service specially the Garlic naan bread and chicken tikka masala was mouth watering and also green chilli veg plater was great, definitely going back next weekend.
Best East Indian Sunday Brunch!!. I have been to many East Indian Restaurants for sunday brunch.. but Green Chili on 17th is the best I have had so far...
This place. So amazing. I mostly go Sundays for the lunch buffets. All the food is impeccable. Love the service as well.
Really enjoy the food. Always get take out and it works out to 30 mins for pick up. Love the veg samosas and chicken tikka masala!
Delicious!. I absolutely love Green Chili on 17th! I've gotten so many of my friends and my boyfriend hooked on it. It's the only Indian I order now. Perfect service, always friendly and accommodating and a warm welcome from the front of house staff. Highly recommended.
Good Overall, Though Somewhat Inconsistent.... I quite like the food at the 17th Avenue location, and find the service and decor amicable, though the quality is inconsistent from dish to dish. For example, the Mutter Paneer and Vindaloo dishes are excellent, however the Korma and anything containing goat are generally not. The same can be said of the quality of food across locations; the Stadium location is very inconsistent.
Yummy. I've really enjoyed their bindhi masala (okra), and the service is always friendly. Not sure why they aren't busier.
Price vs quality. This place is great if you don't want to spend a ton and have some decent/good east indian.

I really like the food the butter chicken is awaome best naan bread and the flavors so good I order from here all the time
Butter Chicken Go-To. I've only ever done take-out. Parking sucks and walking in through the back door is questionable as you have to circumnavigate dumpsters. Other than that, nans are good and I love their ras malai. I've always been helped by friendly folks, so no complaints on the take-out front. I do know that their delivery prices are exhorbitant; hence the reason for picking up my food myself...
So yummy. Have tried Radjoot, mati mohal and taj mohal and nobody has green chili's butter naan, korma or butter chicken beat yet! Service can be slow, but it's worth it for the tasty food and good prices.
Best naan in the city. Curries are pretty average - probably better at wicked chili down the ave. Nice mango lassi. Palak paneer was a tad too rich but very flavourful.
These people are SPECIAL! Every single menu item I've ever had is absolutely spot on. Spiced to perfection. Friendly service. Can't get enough!
YUM!. We love this Indian food. We order the Butter Chicken, Veggie Korma, Naan, and Saffron Rice - the only saffron rice I have ever liked! Service is always friendly. This is not a good place if you are in a rush, the food does take its time but I suppose that is why it is so good - it is not sitting in a big dish waiting to be reheated. 4.5/5 for Indian!
Great Food, Slow Service. I've been to this location twice now, and have walked away happy and STUFFED both times. The food here is excellent! Very flavorful and good sized portions - we always have enough to take home for another lunch or dinner. I love the samosas and chicken tikka masala and jalfrezi and of course butter chicken! The owner is really nice but the service is inconsistent. We dined there once when we were the only people there later at night and our food came right away, we never had to flag down a waitress. However, when the restaurant was full on our second visit, we waited an entire hour for our appetizers to come and watched as people who came after us ate and left before we'd received our main dishes. The food is definitely worth the wait, but maybe if it's busy opt for take out.
Love Indian food and this restaurant is my favorite in Calgary. Eat here several times a month. Prices may seem steep but two can eat for one order of rice and one dish. Chicken is always a good texture and the spices are amazing. I haven't found a dish I don't like. Staff is generally friendly and go out of their way to make customers happy. Peter is very friendly and always comes to say hello when we stop by. The lunch buffet is simply amazing and I recommend it to anyone for a satisfying meal at a great price. The restaurant overall is definitely a hit for me. Try it if you are craving good Indian food!
Still better and cheaper than Moti, just sayin'
Good food, pricey delivery.. Can't say anything about the dine-in situation, as I have never even seen the storefront. However, we found the delivery food above par for Indian in Calgary. The lamb vindaloo was very spicy and flavourful, a little on the oily side but very good. The palak paneer, one of my personal favourites but often bland if done poorly, was the best I've had in a while. The portions were good and we made two meals for two out of those two curries and a bit of naan bread, but we did find it somewhat expensive, compared to our favourite home delivery restaurants.
I miss living near the Stadium Green Chili, where takeout was more of an option. We probably won't get delivery again but we may look into takeout or dine-in: the food itself was worth another shot.
Splendid. I have been to 4 different Locations and I find the service very accomodating and the food is oh my my, I am not into spicy food normally however the servers will walk you through to different food types with your liking of spices.
I highly recommend this restaurant chain and I will definately go there again sometime as soon as possible especially with this weather :).
A-List. Great Food Here.. A-List. Excellent food, solid service. These guys know how to cook. Worth the walk or drive.
Decent and affordable east indian food. We order from the 17th ave Green Chili a lot, because it is close, the food is decent and the prices affordable. Is it the best east indian in Calgary? certainly not, but it is tastey for the most part. We usually get the butter chicken or tandoori chicken with the navrattan korma, coconut rice, nann and veggie samosas. The tandoori is excellent and the butter chicken passes the test. The korma I admit could be a bit more consistent (sometimes it has a strange aftertaste). Service is just meh but ordering out we have never had an issue.
Great butter chicken! And I'm a connoisseur! It was so good I'm ordering it again tonight.
Excellent!! And a great amount of flavour and spice.
Taste of Indian on 17th. Had a delightful experience at Green Chili, but the food took a bit to get to us and the wait staff questioned what we were ordering saying they thought we were being too similar in ordering. Which was odd.
Nevertheless, as the food came it came with a good size portion and the taste was very good. I had a mushroom night and had the Mushroom Mattar and Mushroom rice. It was well prepared and the taste was potent. I had some to take home for lunch the following day as well.
Overall, a good addition to 17th avenue, and I will try again shortly. Thanks.
