One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the city, and arguably the best one in its near area. Rau Bistro boasts an inspired menu from around the country with precision taste and speed every time I’ve been there.
They feature many items of which I haven’t tried at other Vietnamese restaurants and are very helpful in explaining them to my family and me.
We had the fried cuttlefish which came topped with something like a dried shrimp jam, amazing. And the Beef dishes combo for 2 was an experience that was nothing short of changing how I perceived Vietnamese cuisine.

A real star in the community.
We’ve been here a few times and Rau Bistro does not disappoint! Flavourful Vietnamese-style soups! Bun Bo Hue soup is not as flavourful (only a hint of fermented shrimp paste) as our other favourite Viet places -still okay though!
It's a clean and spacious restaurant, it's perfect for my family of 5.
The Vietnamese guy who works there is gentle and kind, the food is so good, and the place is clean!
We order the grilled pork with marinated egg yolk (I think), and the house noodles, it was delicious!
The washroom is clean and looks luxurious.
We will be back again when we visit Calgary.
First time coming to their newly opened shop since they moved and I really like how they modernized their concept and interior renovations. The service was great, and the food came out fast and no real complaints about the food. I did order what the reviews told me to order which was the salt and pepper cuttlefish fish and the bun mam. Definitely good set to have !
If your looking for something new to try. We had the Bò 7 món (7 courses of beef) which is set for 2 people. The service and atmosphere of the restaurant was great. Just wished the portion size was a little more than 2 pieces of the grilled beef la lot & grilled satay beef to make the wraps 🥲 but overall the Bò 7 món was good.
We stopped in for the Bahn Mi. We tried the chicken and the fish cake with pineapple. Would say the chicken was the winner for us. The pricing can’t be beat, at $8 each!! Friendly and efficient service.
I have always love this place even at the old location. They have added more dishes to the menu with the expansion. Unique dishes that are nicely presented.
Vietnamese food open late until 11pm - glad to have this type of place.
- Calamari was pretty good. Had a nice touch of dried shrimp pieces for extra flavor/fragrance. Kale salad was also nice although kale usually has a nasty bitter taste and rough texture. This one was marinated in a tangy apple vinegar and was pretty mild texture.
- Pho was good also. Meats were good quality. Noodles and broth are not memorable, but they were not bad - decent. Vegetables were fresh.
- Plenty of space in restaurant. Nice and clean looking.
Great place for a late meal.
