This is a great little restaurant and one of the best pizza places in the city. We’ve been coming every Thursday for last few months and have always enjoyed it. In addition to the great pizza, the service is also excellent; especially Ealat, she is the best. If you are looking for a hidden gem in Bowness, this is “The Place” to go.
The place is very cozy. I ordered the veal cutler and steak cutlet. It came with garlic bread,salad and fries as sides. The server was very friendly and overall it was a great experience. Will definitely recommend this place
I have ordered here a few times I have never been disappointed they make very crispy wings with the sauce on the side and their lasagna is to die for definitely a plus plus for me
Great local spot for a family meal! Classic pizza, steak and baked pasta like the old school steak houses, you can't really go wrong if you stick to these items. Atmosphere is welcome and the staff are great. No complaints, it's going to become a regular stop for us.
**UPDATE ** been in Bowness for a few years now, and The Place is STILL a regular stop for us. The staff are super friendly and hard working, may not always be the quickest but they are earnest and try very hard. Food is delicious, always. Supporting local business is easy with places like this around.
My wife and I love this quaint little restaurant and come fairly regularly for the delicious pizza. The service is always great and it's a very welcoming atmosphere. Would recommend!
Delicious and excellent service!. We were a party of 4 and I had the chuckwagon steak which was excellent. The Ceasar salad was also great tasting. Friendly and attentive service as usual ! For Calgary, the prices are very reasonable, and the atmosphere is homey and comfortable. We will return !
Best Veggie Pizza Ever!!!. Ok, it's not fancy, but I LOVE the "Slim Jim" vegetarian pizza!! So good!! They've got great steaks and pasta as well....super awesome staff at a cool old school restaurant....check it out!
Awesome!!. My parents are visiting from Ontario and we thought we'd try The Place. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the food is great!! I'll definitely go back.

Delish Food. The atmosphere and food at this neighborhood establishment is good. I have had the pleasures of a few visits and that in itself is a treat. My take out pizza was fresh and cheesy and the take out service deserved a good tip. My in house stay was pleasant and
I enjoyed pasta with seafood tortellini. The seafood and customer dervocet was abundant. I strongly urge yoy if in the city make a special trip to The Place in Bowness it is great food and the decor is of a treat back in time! SERVICE IS WONDERFUL Thanks to Ray!
The Place gives Matador a run for it's money!!!. Woo Hoo! Finally, after looking for what seems forever, I've found a place that gives Matador in Varsity a run for it's money! Incredible pizza, low prices, and...they DELIVER!!! Not only to your door, but in service and quality as well. I encourage anyone who's eaten at Matador to check this place out. I like it sooooooo much better!

Best Pizza around!. Love the pizza! We grew up in the neighborhood and we come here all the time. The decor hasn't changed since around the time I was born, but the food and service are fantastic. Kelly is the best waitress ever and always remembers us and what's going on in our lives, along with our orders and drinks.
For an appetizer, try the bruschetta pizza with feta (Kelly's idea), its delicious!

Deliverance (for 1). First time in years, I have a few dollars left on the LAST day before payday.
And for the first time in years, I ordered in...
Thought about hopping the bus to bring a pizza home but nahhhhh.
I was hungry. I wanted a good meal. A steak sandwich from the Place meal.
Thanks to the internet, I found their phone number and a kind lady voice asked? "Take out? Or delivery?"
"Do you deliver?" I asked, dumbfounded.
"Yes," The lady was kind, in view of my no-brainer comment, but it had been sooooooooo long.
Most the time, delivery for one person is either a) too expensive. Or b) part of a deal that has fdod I don't like. Or c) not in my area.
But the Place IS in my area. And the kind lady told me prices -- a steak sandwich, with caesar salad and baked potato, AND delivery charge of $3.50 -- for under $25!!
I was so hungry, I nearly ate the phone! "Wait a half hour," the kind lady said. And deliverance came about 22 minutes later...
The aroma down the hallway was enough to make my neighbor flip (a little Bowness senior peered from her chain lock.)
I paid the man, including a humble tip after a toonie fell behind my shelves, and felt bad. The smell of the food, which he handed to me, coupled with the weight of it, made me wished I were rich enough to tip $10 or $20...
It looked awesome like it was hot off the grill (cept for the salad which I dug into. It was soooooo good.)
Somebuddy once told me they make their own dressing which is a fine compliment to the healthy-crisp lettuce and crunchy croutons, all bite-size -- never needed a knife to eat this salad!!
The baked potato was nice and tender inside, and just soaked up the butter and sour cream. Dang!! I forgot salt and pepper. But I was too busy devouring my feast to get up. Besides, I didn't need it. Tasted great just as it was. Mmmmmm.
And the steak, still pink the way I like which was a nice feat for the kind lady, on a busy Friday night, juggling 2 phones, who forgot to ask how I liked it cooked. In a word, yummy. Seasoned, yes, but in a way that highlights fine Alberta beef, its juices running into the thick garlic toast placed beneath it.
Oh God, it was a good feed!! And the portions were so generous I had trouble eating the last few bites. But I made room. (-: No wonder the delivery man says he comes to our building "about 20 times a night!" That alone tells ya that people like the food. And the delivery.
All in all, a nice treat at the end of the month.
My only critique is not the food; it's my tip. I still wish I had more to tip the guy who braved the rain and cold.
Maybe somebuddy reading this will order in. And pay him well. That'd be my deliverance...
This place is what you would hope for from a family neighborhood "place". Not fine dining, but good food with really friendly service.
Great home style food with excellent service. Lots of vegetarian options too which is a plus for me.
Fantastic pizza! Staff and owners are great: make you feel like you are a regular whether it's your first or sixth time there.

Have eaten here many times - all of it has been great. A nice pizza with lots of choices, steak and pasta all done properly and the onion soup is flavourful and not overly-salty like it is at so many other places. Good-sized portions and the sides aren't neglected either. Wish they had a better beer selection, given the incredible array of Calgary breweries. But good food and good staff make The Place a nice, friendly place to come to.
Cute little hole in the wall place. Very clean. Service was great. Server took care of us, but was not overbearing. Food was fantastic. I had a steak, it was cooked right, and tasted good. We also had a pizza, and it was good as well. If back in Calgary, would definately go again.
Great service and good food. Steak we had was slightly tougher than we'd like but cooked right, good flavour and portion sizes are enormous. Great value, large menu and outstanding service. They gave the kids freezies free of charge after the meal. Was our first time there and will be back. Thank you for some much needed family time.
Great local restaurant!. Went here for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised. My girlfriend and i each had an individual sized pizza and shared the potato skins for an appetizer. the individual booths with lots of privacy is a nice touch and the service was prompt and kind. Definitely some of the best pizza i have had in a while with fresh ingredients and a nice tomato sauce .my daughter really enjoyed the baked fettuccine. i will be back to try a steak and highly recommend the pizza!
Very friendly staff!! Very welcoming, and they greeted all their locals by name as they came in and left which was nice to see. Excellent service, and my steak was cooked very nicely! Reasonable prices too. It seems like a real neighborhood staple!
We’d driven for 11hrs from BC, checked into our hotel and needed a late dinner. Pre-Covid hours online said open till 11 but when we got there they were closing in 20min at 10. But they didn’t turn us away - super friendly, we ordered dinner to go & sat comfortably while we waited. Salad & pizza were just what we needed. We appreciated the great customer service, friendliness & yummy food. 🙂
The stumbled on The Place looking for a place to dine in as many places do not offer dine in service during this Covid 19 event. We sure are glad we went. Don't let the 70's steakhouse decor deter you. For us it enhanced the experience! The staff are truly excellent. Friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and served piping hot. So nice on a wet Sunday evening. We would not hesitate to go back. Places like this are becoming more rare, so please check this place out and understand why this place still exists in an age of craft beers and single origin coffee.
