Review Kane's Harley Diner - Calgary

Linette Anne
I actually stumbled upon this diner while walking down Inglewood and was pleasantly surprised when I walked inside. I just couldn't stop taking pictures because of the nostalgic feeling of it all (though I never actually lived through that era, ha!). It's a very picturesque place, and the food is really good as well at a decent price - very delicious milkshakes! It's the only one in Canada, so definitely worth checking out!

Great value, nice staff and good service. Wasn't very busy when we visited this Saturday morning so lots of space. Milkshake was pretty awesome and the kids really liked it. Food was pretty good as well.

This place is pretty much perfect. The food is great, cheap and the service is fast and super friendly. I had the veggie burger ($11) Could pass for a meat burger it was so good. The vintage setting and jukebox are fantastic. And the milkshakes are a work of art! Do yourself a favor and eat here.

Food specials are fantastic here, a couple could done easily and be satisfied for under $40. The retro theme is really beautiful and nostalgic, with a dedication to Harleys. It was quite dead for a afternoon but it was also a weekday, and seems more of a brunch spot. Waitress was inattentive so the experience stretched longer than necessary. Would definitely come again though and try out different things on the menu! Fish and chips were amazing

The search for a nice local diner lead my girlfriend and I here. Its a quaint little place with 2 bit motorcycles in the front windows, and old style harley davidson memorabilia everywhere. It definately has a lot of character! The food was absolutely delicious! The cinnimon bun is just a touch crispy and has plenty of frosting as shown in the photo. The meals themselves were very filling, I didn't need to eat again until dinner! I would like to have given a 4.5 star because though the server was courteous and kind, it was hard to find her to get my 2ater refilled, or to order more food. It would be nice if the server would do the rounds a tad more frequently. Other than that however, I had a very enjoyable experience and would not hesitate to come here again!

If your looking for a great place for a good charbroiled burger and a milkshake in the metal cup with a 50/60 theme this the place. Service was quick and the server was friendly. Reminded me of a burger I would make at home. Fries were crispy and tasty

Food was so totally amazing. Has the cool RETRO diner feel. The milkshakes were a great size for the price. The tater tots are to die for. Will be coming back for a very long time.

Good food, lots to look at, nice atmosphere

Stopped in for breakfast while I was getting an oil change done on my bike. Love the look of the place with all the memorabilia from another time. The Captain America bike is an amazing replica that appears to be accurate to the finest of details. Had the Nitro burrito for breakfast and enjoyed it along with a bottomless cup of coffee. Wait staff was very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate about making a return visit anytime I'm in the area.

Had the 1lbs burger...best burger i ever had ...food delicious and staff very friendly!!

It was my first time here, the coffee, food & service was great! There was one contradiction though, we automatically received straws in our coffee however your poster in the bathroom say “ only upon request “.
Devin Flewell
Great place for a burger. I have never been dissipoineted. The service and food is consistent and there have been a lot of improvements/repairs to the restaurant in the last year. It's a cool theme and a great diner experience!

Back in the days that I went to the diner, the food and atmosphere was awesome!! The decor is amazing and loved the menu choices!!! Back then, part of the staff was this awesome married couple(can't remember their names) they were due to have a baby, Oh boy! Must have been over 10 ago..But they offered the best service bar none!! Keep at er Kane's Ride On!!!
Sadie Dancey
Love the decor. Staff was amazing considering how busy it was with the Sunfest going on. Food was great.
Kathie J Covell
Love the atmosphere, friendly service and breakfast is always good!
Elaine S Mohan
Good food especially the Mac and Cheese. Great atmosphere!
Shaila Mdog
Food out weighed the service by a long way!! And the servers should keep their comments about what you ordered to themselves!

I've only lived in Calgary for 3 years but my hubby and I love coming to Kanes :) Last year we stopped in on Canada Day and we plan on coming by again this year on July 1. Sounds like a great tradition to me :) The portions are huge and I can never finish my pancakes but boy oh boy are they delicious !!! See you in a few weeks Kanes !!!!

We had our annual "girl family" reunion and it was wonderful!! Our service was great and the food was too. Can hardly wait until next year :)

Good food, large portions & affordable.

I went here when it first opened about 15 years ago. I could not recall whether it was good or bad. But we went last Saturday afternoon. They were not busy. Service was so so. Food was pure unadulterated crap. Ordered a burger and fries and now I know why I never retuned. Total 100% garbage. Dry meat and over done fries. I would never recommend this grease spoon.

Service can be a hit or miss, but no complaints of the food. The Harley Diner is in the heart trendy Inglewood so it's understandable that there will be peak times, but we have come to rely on Google Maps that reports busy times. If you are there at 2pm on a Friday afternoon it's not busy but if you go down at 11am on a weekend, then be prepared to wait.

Me and my wife brought our 2 kids for a family breakfast. We sat ourself and after 15 minutes we had not been acknowledged, no menus were brought, no hello, no "we will be with you shortly"<br/>So we got up and left and on our way out heard a snide "goodbye" and a chuckle from one of the staff.<br/><br/>They had 3 servers and about 10 full tables.<br/><br/>The decor was great and I was lookimg forward to trying the place after hearing good things.<br/><br/>I cant rate the food we never even got to order. But the service today was terrible and we went somewhere else.
Konnymi
Awful service we got there at 3:10 didn't get our drinks until 15 minutes after then our orders wasn't taken till another 15 minutes. Took about 30 minutes for our meals to come. I would of been okay if the waitress said hey sorry about the wait but she didn't. Unfriendly and it wasn't even packed. The food was okay the burger good. My Mac and cheese was very watery. Milkshake looked good but I've had better for cheaper. Loved the decor of the place but unfortunately will not come back.

I have always liked this place and have eaten a few meals here in the past, but today I just got a cinnamon bun to go. The service is always very down to earth and friendly which is excellent. I'd heard their cinnamon buns were quite tasty so I wanted to try one for myself. It's $4.50, comes warm, and with a smear of cream cheese. I was a bit surprised at the size; somehow I expected it to be larger due to being called "Hawg Wild". It was homemade tasting, grilled, and not overly sweet. I found this pleasant as most of the store bought buns and icing taste like chemicals. The bottom portion was sweeter, but still not overbearing. I'm on the fence with the cream cheese "icing". It tasted more like regular cream cheese you would get on a bagel, with a very slightly sweeter taste. All in all I enjoyed it, and I will continue my search for Calgary's best cinnamon bun.
Tyler Truport
Not a bad place, but it can be hit or miss. Ive had a lot of great service and great food, and sometimes great service and sometimes great food. Overall its not too bad. Id come back if I was in the area. plus its pretty sweet looking around the diner, theres a lot of cool things to see.
Heideken
Staff is friendly. Atmosphere is cool. Food is not bad at all...prices reflect the quality of the food so even though it isn't gourmet, you never feel ripped off. They do have some standout items though like the deep fried cinnamon bun. So bad, yet so good.
Dwayne Swallow
love the atmosphere. milkshakes fantastic. as far as the burger and fries go way way way to much salt involved. wanna go back but only for shakes probably
Michael Buchanan
When I moved to Calgary seen this place my 1st though was my dad will love this place he does not own a t-shirt that does not have Harley on it. He came out this year so 1st weekend hear I toke him & my mom hear. I was not expecting much but everything was good. I got a burger & fries, the fries where crispy & burger was moist & seasoned well.

Worse place ever to go for breakfast. Went there at 11:30 waited until 12:30 to get a coffee... Oh wait let me correct that we didn't get coffee after an hour wait. Was then told that breakfast wasn't available after 12:00. Well of course not because we had to wait over an hour to even get served. <br/><br/>Place is a f $cking joke.

Kane's is a great place to get breakfast, it's rarely busy (even on the weekends) and is perfect hangover food   ^_~<br/>I like the Biker Bowl, it's like a hash with eggs/meat...good milkshakes and dessert-breakfast stuff too (cinnamon buns).<br/>Cheap pool tables in the back if you want to play while you wait.
Festus
Have had breakfast here a few time while my bike was in the shop. Always good food and service. Will be back . Also love this part of Calgary and the stores in this area. Great place to take visitor.

Stopped by for an early dinner around 5:00pm. The bacon and cheese burger was fantastic! Patty was a good 5 - 6 oz, hand made fresh, NOT the preformed freezer patty (see pic). Choice of sides. Chose a garden salad. All the salad veggies were fresh and arranged in an attractive presentation. My friend had the same with fresh cut fries. They were yummy (of course I stole some)!  <br/>Service was efficient, but a little confused about what was available or not. Alas, soup of the day was not available. What diner doesn`t have soup! The food servings are generous portions and very good. <br/>Decor is FUN! Classic diner with Harley Davidson motive. Clientele were mostly middle-aged bikers. <br/>I would love to return.

Dude, me my fiancee and friend went in here just spare of the moment, i had the Mac N Cheese it was Delicious so cheesy and so much flavor, they had the spicy chicken burger thing, they loved it to, food was super hot and fresh, the milk shakes are huge and you can add alcohol to them they were also delicious i really would go back again and recommend this place to everyone 10/10 <br/>

Disappointed. Took my 12 year old to view the bikes at Kane's, he enjoyed that part of it. <br/>The Diner has huge potential but is currently very ragged and is in need of maintainance.<br/>Good was average, service was poor and we were hurried out early as they were closing at 3pm on a Saturday due to lack of staff. <br/>Very dissapointing.

Yuppies, STAY AWAY!. Don't come to eat here if you're a yuppy, you won't like it. They don't have gluten free, and the coffee isn't organic. Drive you're little Prius up Edmonton trail and go wait over an hour at OEB. If you are a decent human being, who likes home cooked meals, check out Kanes. My BF and I have been dining here for years, and have never had a bad meal, or service. My BF usually gets the Ultra 3 Meat, and I usually get the Shovel Head. We have never had to wait to be seated, or received cold or unattractive food here. They also have really great coffee for a little diner. I also really enjoy the alternative staffs and their general attitude towards life.
Infinityb3yondboo
Bad service!. Today I went there and a server was absolutely rude and was yelling at me then continued to follow me out and scream at me then closed a door right in my face, it was the worst service I had ever got! The back people are defiantly fantastic! They supported me and made sure I was ok. <br/>I have no idea how someone like her could get a job there!!

Used to be loved from the inside out. This used to be a true diner with great food and fast service. <br/><br/>But what’s happened?? The floor tiles have lifted, bench seating is ripped, clutter (and not the Harley on-pointe décor) is disgusting, I wasn't sure the table was clean. There was one waitress and 7 tables occupied (mid-week, mid-morning). We waited for menus, we waited for coffee, we waited for water. And inefficient? OMG – let’s shuffle all the way to get 1 item while passing by tables waiting to be cleared. She didn’t smile, she avoided all eye contact, her tired eye-rolling was tedious. We waited 1⁄2 hour to get a refill on coffee (at a ‘diner’, serious?!). The food arrived (from a new cook – and apparently, ‘it’ was all his fault) and food was OK - except for the frozen hash browns from a bag - most certainly not what it used to be. Waiting for the bill, and payment processing was ... simply painful. <br/><br/>Save yourself. Go 5 minutes east on 9th Ave to the Blackfoot Diner – the place is cluttered too, but almost happily so. The waitresses are fast, know their menu inside out, and appear to really like their jobs - - and the coffee literally flows – and not just from your own waitress, but whoever has time, just walks a pot around. And the food – fast, hot, heaping plate-full o’diner goodness. <br/><br/>Kane’s Diner used to be great – but someone somewhere stopped loving it – I think, from the inside out.

11 am. Will never go back would not cook us burgers at 11am wow I've lived in inglewood over a yr and yeah so uncool

Horrible. Filthy, poor service, dry hamburgers and hard as a rock French fries. Burping lunch - Nasty. Stay away! Will not return.

Filthy and Neglected - Don't go there.. This place is a filthy dirty diner with water marks above our head to floor tiles missing. Dirty walls, dirty ceiling, dirty floors, dirty booth and counters. Did I mention dirty? It is so obviously neglected that it makes you wonder how they could possibly be fit to serve the public. The "dreadlocks" staff (people that don't ever wash their hair serving you the food) don't seem to care about themselves let alone the place or the service. Run away from there if you get close.

Cook. I have eaten at Kane's a few time and after reading what others have said I can understand what others are saying about the place <br/><br/>the food is never the same twice which makes diners somewhat confused as to what they are getting <br/>the plates and coffee cups do seem to be in need of a good cleaning <br/>and the kitchen staff as well as the front staff walk around like they don't care about their job <br/>and I do know both the kitchen and front staff from over the years <br/><br/>pity the place is like a through back from the late 50's and early 60's <br/><br/>Kim get with it please

Crap Service.. Probably the worst service I had ever experienced trying to get breakfast on a Sunday morning. <br/><br/>My wife and I were really excited to try this place out as it looks kind of cool. Unfortunately we made two attempts to eat here, both of which we were turned away. The second time was unbelievable! We walked in and seated ourselves as per the large sign at the front desk. There were quite a few empty tables so we picked one of them... noticing that the seats were all cracked and a little dirty. There was a large group of “bikers” in the middle, but nothing crazy. After seating ourselves we waited about 5 mins before a rude waitress came over and told us she was overwhelmed and couldn't take any more tables at this time. She was basically kicking us out and she didn't even apologize. Needless to say we promptly got up and went across the street to enjoy a nice experience at Gravity Espresso and wine bar! <br/><br/>Service Sucks, Hopefully the food is better! Not going back!

Stopped by last Sat for a quick bite, the restaurant is nostalgic but in extremely bad need of repair but we didn't mind. We sat ourselves and waited for staff, the place seemed deserted. When our server finally arrives. She was helpful. Most of our orders arrived, incorrect. Clubhouses, Wrong bread, cheese included when asked to be left out. The side mayo's missing. My Trike came with rotten lettuce and the side salad was so old that all the lettuce had brown edges.<br/>I would suggest anyone to keep walking not worth the hype.

Meh... Why is it hard to find a place in inglewood for a restaurant that serves consistently great food at a great price plus does not close early compared to usual restaurants? I love inglewood but after coming here I am becoming slowly disappointed by choices of place to eat in this neighborhood.<br/>There are only a couple I would go to in this hood.<br/>I ordered Kane's diner bison burger, since it was lunch. They appeared to have more diner types of food on the menu. I found the burger to be a tad on the dry side and not very flavorful topped in between the white bread bun and mixed salad that looked like pieces of head of lettuce tossed together. My companion had their burger and he was not a big fan- it was okay but dry for him. He actually mentioned his own homemade burgers were way better..lol. The burger meals felt like something from someone's home backyard bbq party. <br/>The service- the lady was super nice but not as attentive. I had to ask for water to be filled with her second check. We also waited quite awhile for our burgers- thought they were out hunting for the meat at the back...it felt that long to receive the meals.<br/>The upside- I really liked the decor and setup of the place. It was an awesome idea for a vintage diner look.

Old fashion Diner.. I stopped here for a burger. I chose the Springer which is a mushroom burger. The size of the burger will make me want to come back here. The burger and fries were great. The fountain pop not so good, almost tasted flat. The prices were very reasonable for this part of Inglewood. Everything about Kane's reminded be of the old soda shops from the mid-sixties. Loved It. I don't think I would wear my Honda Goldwing shirt here, though ;)<br/>I will stop here again to try their breakfast in the near future.
Magically Delicous
Slow unatentive service. My girlfriends plate was filthy with a hard white crust that you could scrape off. Server said that the dishwasher was broken yesterday and its probably icing sugar from the cinnamon buns. How did the cook not see this when he was plating the food?? Gross. My salad was gross. Lettuce tasted dirty. A few cucumbers, 2 sliced tomatoes, thick raspberry vinegarette. Meatloaf dry. We were not impressed!!!! And never be back. Inglewood is lame for restaurants.
SashimiKing
Yeah. Decent, Friendlish Service, Clean, & they have a pool hall available for rental. It's pretty funky in there. You should check it out. <br/><br/>Their Cinnamon bun was pretty GoooeyD.<br/><br/>EDIT*** as of a couple days later, I picked up another cinnamon bun for $4.73 I might add, COLD, with a large PLOPPED icing on top of both toasted buns. They have meals there at $9 bucks a pop, that are rather large in comparison to this. The other day I didn't mind so much, because it was that much larger. & HOT & the person took some time to make the icing presentable. I tipped the other time, & this time. All for pick up. <br/><br/>There was ONE person in sitting, eating.

Stick to breakfast and don't expect much out of the servers

Food was alright, basic diner food. Service was embarrassingly terrible. Unfriendly and incredibly inattentive.

If you like the essence of cigarette smoke on your server come on down. Such a shame, I love the diner concept and love Harley's, but this place is a let down, or maybe just a front.
Sylvia Johnston
This visit was very nostalgic for me. Just like at being at my grandmas cafe:) Great old fashioned service. Thank you Kane's.
Breakfast AtTiffany's
Breakfast @ Tiffany's. Novembers choice of restaurant was Kane's Harley Diner.<br/>We had reserved a table because it can be a really busy hub on a Saturday morning. This day, the diner was 50% full. Service was prompt and the coffee was plentiful. We each ordered a different menu offering and were all pleased with the quality of our choices. The decor is bright and airey especially on this dreary November morning. The music was playing but not too loud that we couldn't converse during our meal.
CalgaryMomof2
I love this place! It's a fun place to take the kids out for dinner with amazing food at even more amazing prices!! Burger, fries, and homemade shakes for 5 fir under $50 and we even took a couple cinnamon buns home! The last time we were there we met a couple of the nicest "bikers" ever who answered questions from inquisitive kids and even took them out to check out their bikes. I 150% recommend this jewel!
Smarty
Went for breakfast. It was pretty quiet for a Saturday. Had the omelette and hash towns. The omelette was nice and fluffy with yummy toppings. The hash browns were okay. Overall a decent meal for a decent price.

Great place. Me and a friend finished looking at bikes and headed to the diner for lunch but caught the breakfast buffet. Great food, very home style and welcoming. One waitress was telling everyone to keep going back for seconds. Good prices. Very family style atmosphere. Nothing bad to say about this place
Prince Of Inglewood
Great Diner. We went there to grab a quick lunch in between our XMAS shopping .<br/>The food was plentiful and tasty . The service was fast and courteous .<br/>The server obviously found out who I was becasue he intitally called me "Boy ", then "Man" and ultimately "Big Dog"<br/><br/>POI

Breakfast is great. Love the home made cininimion buns they cut them in half toast them. Be nice to the staff they all look like they drive Harlies<br/><br/>Can not imagine lunch or dinner at This place but a great breakfast

An old diamond in the rough. Many people may be intimidated by the word 'Harley' in the name of this diner. By no means let it keep you from pulling open the front doors and enjoying the experience of eating great food in a wicked atmosphere. You'll get old booths, cracked formica tabletops, a jukebox, a pool room, Harley memorabilia everywhere, neon lights and servers with a sassy attitude and great humour. The other patrons are usually regulars, and there can be conversations being shared between tables. The whole place feels like you're surrounded by people who have been coming there for years, and that it wouldn't be so bad to join them now and then.<br/><br/>Everything is authentic and tasty and well priced, and the service is snappy. Particularly nice is their club sandwich and fries - it's very solid, comfortable, regular-person food. No surprises and very satisfying.<br/><br/>A cool place to bring friends.
Andreasalethechef
...started with this DELICIOUS grilled cinnamon bun that had the perfect amount of sticky, cinnamony, crispy grilled bottom and delicious not-too-sweet icing on top. Four of us ended up splitting this and it was the perfect first bite with some coffee. The best part is that they cut the bun in half crosswise and grill each side...
Kelsey
Quite energizing and filling, yet light enough to<br/>leave you with room for afternoon ice cream :)
Are You Gonna Eat That
The kitschy diner has been in Inglewood for more than a decade. It's not fancy, but it doesn't need to be. Regulars come back for the filling plates and service by ladies who call you "sweetie" and "honey."
