We ordered the beef sate pho, seafood sate pho, beef and chicken mixed banh mi, Jasmine tea and iced vietnamese coffee. The price and the portion were great. Everything was very flavorful. Service was a bit slow we had to call someone over to order and the place wasn't even busy other than take out orders. The ambiance is good as well not a hole in the wall but not fancy either. Would come back if in the area.
A very busy little restaurant with incredibly generous portions of fresh food at cheap prices. To start I got an order of salad rolls. The rolls were very fresh and came with a delicious, rich sauce. For my main course I got B10. Combo Three: BBQ pork, shredded pork, and spring rolls on rice vermicelli. An absolutely massive bowl of bun arrived remarkably quickly (one thing here is that the service is almost scarily efficient). The BBQ pork was definitely: a delicious marinade and the meat itself was perfectly carmelized. The spring rolls were alright. Tasty comfort food, but probably not the best I've had. If I'm in the area, I might stop by to try satay soup I've heard so much about.
Friend told me to try this place and I finally did and was super impressed! The place was packed, but there was lots of staff to keep things moving. Of course I had the Beef Satay Soup and for $9.95 I recieved this massive bowl of deliciousness! The taste beef was extremely tender and the broth was fantastic. I even had to take half home for later, which never happens. Service wasn't bad either.
Pho is the ultimate comfort food. Nothing beats an oversized bowl of hot beefy broth in an abundance of slippery noodles. I like getting a mouthful of noodles, thinly sliced beef, crunchy bean sprouts and basil all in one bite. For this post, let’s listen to something pho-nomenal. I like Pho Huong Vietnamese Noodle House because its close to our house and cheap. This small restaurant is always busy, even at off times. I think its popular because the portions are massive, the prices are cheap, and there aren’t a whole lot of Vietnamese restaurants in the hood.
Really good and well-priced Vietnamese food. It's one of my favourites in the city. The vermicelli bowls and Vietnamese subs are really great. Plus, the service is quick and friendly. It can get quite busy during standard lunch and dinner times, but this restaurant is definitely worth a stop!
Always busy here but it's worth the wait to get in. The Pho is consistently good and would always be my go to order. Haven't tried much else on the menu except for the salad and spring rolls which are nothing out of the ordinary. Not the friendliest service but stick to the soup and you'll be happy.
Extremely simple and cramped place but amazing food. The thing that everyone has here is the noodle soup, many varieties of those portions apparently designed for giants or equivalent, we had the seafood one, brilliantly spiced with every sip full of flavour.
Equally good are the vermicelli buns - there are no buns here- it is essentially vermicelli type noodles with toppings and sauce, the barbecue pork complemented the middle really well. The noodles with chicken and lemongrass sauce was also really good.
Only thing I didn't like was the salad rolls which were very bland. Wash down the meal with the bubble tea which is again very popular. I was having this for the first time and really liked the avocado flavoured tea.
A great meal...
Still one of my favourite Vietnamese restaurants in the city, I will still stop by every now and then even though I have moved further from this location!
The staff are very efficient and accommodating! The food is well portioned, extra delicious and the price point couldn't be much better!
The worst part about this restaurant is some days it's quite busy, but I assume that's only because its so great ;)
Best Vietnamese in the city! The Sate soup is outstanding, curry is delicious and subs are great. Prices are cheap for the portion size. Improvements could be made regarding cleanliness and service but the food is so good I don't really care.
Their sate soup is in my opinion the best in the city. There are tons of pho places in the city but in terms of price, I think it's pretty reasonable and it's one of the reason's why I always come back. The place can get busy, usually after 6pm but I try to be here before or just after lunch where it is a just a bit quiet. We live in the NE part of the city, really close to the airport, and for us to drive 25-35 minutes to get here for soup is quite a statement. Overall, the food is tasty and the staff is mostly courteous.
We've been coming here for 7 years and have been obsessed with B3/B4/B5 vermicelli dishes because they're typically loaded with meat. Things have recently changed. Any of the vermicelli dishes seem to be loaded with sprouts and minimal meat/vermicelli/lettuce these days. Makes for a much smaller and very sprouty meal.
Otherwise, no complaints... but fix that vermicelli please!
You have no menu on Zomato and your website is just a page with writing nothing else.. If you offer take out and delivery might wanna add that stuff just an opinion though!
This branch is my favourite place and it's my default go to restaurant. I used to go to the one by 17th ave sw. Now that I moved to the nw I'm glad there's one here as well.
Very delicious pho! Huge portions too!!! The menu has a lot of options. However, it's a busy place so the service is a little sparse, but friendly. I asked to make my pho spicy, but unfortunately it wasn't really. I don't think I'll be going back.
Was there second time the other day, service was so slow. It wasn't lunch or dinner time either. No water or menu for ten minutes. I had to wave my hand a few times before a lady finally answered me. Hubby and I ordered right away and that lady was not friendly at all. We said thank you every time she brought us menu, water, after ordering etc and she never said a word back or there wasn't even a smile. The whole experience would be better without her attitude. Portion is good and hubby loves his Satay pho. Hopefully next visit will be friendlier.
Best viet in the area, always order for pick up so not sure on the service but the pho is amazing, always ready within 15 minutes! Their iced coffee is made with condensed milk.. Highly recommend it!
The food is delicious and consistent. Always busy which is always a good sign however... Why is the floor so dang slippery?? The bathrooms hallways are always super cluttered which is a hazard. As much as I like this place, it seems they take their customers loyalty for granted.
I went here yesterday with some friends and had B3 the Lemongrass bbq chicken vermicelli bowl. It was one of the best and biggest bowl of vermicelli I have ever had. Chicken was grilled deliciously and the spring rolls were amazing. Very huge portions for a fair price. Definitely going again.
Based on the options in the area, it is the most decent place for viet food close to Mount Royal Rec and Killarney Rec.
Due to the scarce options, and lack of competition, this place is always busy. You might have to wait for a seat.
Price is 10-11. Has good volume and is filling. Flavor is decent to good for many dishes. It is rare to see a place top good tendon in their pho. I must credit the tendon here are clear and transparent, cut into thin appetizing slices, and has good consistency.
Atmosphere is a bit suffocating as space is tight, and is crowded with people. Lack of free to use napkins. And the washroom is TOO tight, almost a risk hazard from the door. I would eat here again if I needed a place somewhere close to MRU.
First time here. Had the charbroiled pork sub and it was delicious. Good service and food was ready quickly. Heard that this place is usually full in the evenings, whether weekday or weekends, because it is not a big restaurant.
Love the food here. Had my first pho this weekend and it was amazing! Also like their vermicelli dishes. Bubble teas are good too. Very reasonably priced.
If Vietsub express is closed I will go here! Great pho and bun and I'm never disappointed - but I only come here when the other one is closed.
Really like this place. I find many Vietnamese places try to turn away guests or aren't willing to accommodate all guests. These guys are ALWAYS busy yet still take takeout and delivery orders without any fuss. The food is really good too. Best vermicelli I've ever had. The pho is also great. I should note however that their sate broths are labeled mildly spicy when really they are extremely spicy. I normally eat really spicy food and the sate pho is too much for me.
This place is our local go-to (and pick-up) for Vietnamese in the 'hood. The food is delicious and the menu is extensive enough to scratch all your viet-itches. Although curiously their lettering/numbering system to the menu is hieroglyphic in clarity. There are 6 dishes for instance labelled "combo three" and a couple of "combo four" specials but yet no combo one or two's...anyway the food remains delish and I'm never so conflicted as when I concentrate on their nummy vermicelli noodle dishes! And the price value is excellent!
Have always had good food here - prices are reasonable for the amount you get. It's pretty squishy in the restaurant and you can be guaranteed a wait at peak times, but it's worth it. Can vouch for the chicken and beef rice noodle bowl, vietnamese subs, and wonton soup. We stick with what we like!
Best Pho in Calgary! I can't explain but the broth here is unbelievable. I never used to be big fan of pho but this place has got me hooked! If you like Vietnamese food, this is definitely a must try.
My go-to for Vietnamese food! Prices are reasonable and portions are large. I highly recommend the pho (their broth is fantastic) and the vermicelli bowls are filled with tons of vegetables. If you need a quick and affordable takeout dinner on a weeknight, this place is your winner.
Everything is fairly consistent here. There's a reason there's always a lineup at this spot. One of the best items on the menu would be their Satay Beef Pho. Try it. You'll never have anything else.
As a frequent visitor, the food is always consistent here. It is one of the best vietnamese restaurants around town. The service is quick and food is always great. Their broth isn't as salty as other places and not heavy on the MSG (which is a huge pet peeve of mine if there's too much because it makes me want to chug down a bottle of water). Their pho, egg noodles, and vermicelli bowls are oh-so-good. I gave their banh mi's a try today and did not disappoint.
This is my go-to spot!
Great Pho at this place. Some of the best broth I've had in Calgary.
Viet is my go to food ... and who can mess up viet? I have heard much praise about this place, but never had a chance to go since it's out of my way. Finally in the neighborhood and gone. The service was fair, food was good but not as amassing as recommand.
Best Pho in town!. My husband and I are pho connoisseurs and this is hands down the best Pho in town. We recently moved and drive out of our way every Sunday to get our fix. Soooo good!
Slam dunk every time...been going to this place for 4 years and it has never disappointed...always busy, and this is for a reason...best Vietnemese in Calgary...
My go to Vietnamese place in Calgary. Love it. Good, fresh food - good value too.
Hands down the best pho in Calgary. Any of us who's ever had the sweet experience of slurping pho down your throat knows that "pho-craving." It comes every time when the weather's cold, if you're hung over, if you're sick, or if you're just a routine pho eater. And Pho Huong Viet on 17th ave is that place where all your pho desires will be fulfilled; it will hit the spot every time. Their broth is fresh and has that good balance of enough greasiness and savoriness. And the noodles play along with their amazing broth. The price is great too. The bills amaze me every time I visit. The service though needs some work. I understand that the place is packed all the time, but still no excuse for bad service. Great restaurant overall!
Best Vietnamese in the city. Hands down my favorite place to eat in the city. Awesome tasting food, large portions and cheap prices. This place gets pretty busy as well, so I usually just call in and pick it up. I've never had a bad meal. and gotten several friends who live far away hooked. for under $9 a meal you just can't go wrong.
Good noodle soups. Huong Viet probably is one of the best around the Bow Trail area. I have been to this place many times and the quality remains consistent. I always order the rare beef, tripe, tendon noodle soup - large. The broth is flavorful and served very hot. The beef always comes out medium rare. Spring rolls are crispy. Their prices are very cheap, so it's a bonus. Though the best Vietnamese noodle soups are still in the Forest Lawn, Marlborough areas, it is a little gem in the SW when I don't want to drive that far.
Just found this place as just moving in. I got it addicted. Will be back often!
A New Favourite. I'm an avid fan of Vietnamese food, and I'm always trying new places. I have relatives that live out in the west end, and I've come here on a couple occasions, and have absolutely loved it. Service is prompt and friendly, decor is very fresh and clean, and the food is not only delicious, but it's also cheap, and well portioned. Whenever I'm in the area, and I'm hankering for some Pho or a vermicelli bowl, I'll be coming here.
Simply the best. One of my favourite places to eat in Calgary, if not the favourite. I favour the spicy sate noodle soup with beef or seafood or a bun dish. Generous servings with fresh ingredients. The marinated beef skewers as a starter are to die for. I need my fix once a week. The interior is also tasteful. This place is head and shoulders above any other Vietnamese restaurant in Calgary. Always great value.
Worth it! Fast service G.... Worth it!
Fast service
Good food (we're vegetation and all had multiple options)
Really enjoyed it and its a good choice.
Was packed on Sunday at 6pm - a good sign!
Better Service is Needed. My boyfriend and I love this place as it's central and the food is tasty and usually pretty fast, however, please train your staff on basic service and how to tend to tables! We were there last Sunday and had the same awful waitress who mumbles and surprise - she forgot my order! She didn't apologize and even better, avoided us the entire time afterwards. The manager was attentive enough to notice and I got my food in a timely manner.
Anyways, my boyfriend loves the sate soup and has never disappointed, the #9 is my fave and we'll come back for the food but the service needs to get with it!
One of the better Vietnamese restaurants in central Calgary. The food here is delicious and flavorful. I highly recommend their Pho Sate (they have beef, chicken, or seafood). Decent sized portion of meat.
The rice with meat/spring rolls dishes are also well done.
Prices are extremely reasonable.
My family and I love this place. The price is lower than most Vietnamese restaurants in Calgary, and the portions are excellent. My husband and I can never usually finish a whole bowl of Bun ourselves, always split with our 6 year old. My taste of the food is telly yummy and fresh. Try the strawberry bubble tea, it's also the best I've found in the city so far. We have always had excellent prompt service as well.
Perfect Hangover cure. If you are suffering from a deadly hangover, you must try the seafood pho here. The service is realy fast, the price is amazing, the portion is perfect...and it'll cure any hangover in no time! My favorite pho place in cowtown!
Awesome food...good price!. I went here for the first time tonight and read some of the reviews about it beforehand, I was expecting a cramped, dirty restaurant with poor service. My boyfriend has been here before and told me it was the best Vietnamese he has had in Calgary so I was looking forward to it anyway! This place looks like it's been updated recently... it is definitely not old or run down, although it does not look like much from the outside. It was pretty busy but not cramped or anything...we got our food in less than 10 mins and it was delicious! The portions were incredibly generous, veggies were fresh and 2 of us ate for $21.00 with tip...I will definitely be coming back here!
Good food, busy place. Went here on Friday evening after 6 pm, and the place was pretty much packed. There was one table left, and the first waitress told us that it required cleaning before we could be seated. She then turned away and proceeded to help other tables instead of cleaning that table.
Shortly after though, an older woman asked us how many and showed us to that last table. Once there, she realized that it needed to be cleaned, so the did that.
She then returned with our water and menu.
I ordered B10 (BBQ pork, shredded pork, spring rolls, and veggie on rice vermicelli). Companion ordered the medium #4 (medium rare steak noodle soup).
We also ordered an appetizer, salad rolls.
Overall, despite the busy nature of the restaurant, our food arrived very quickly, with the salad rolls first. It tasted fresh, and one thing I did like was they had a cucumber spear in their salad rolls versus basil leaves. The shrimp was nice and plump, but cut in half. One thing noticably absent was a slice of pork. The hoi sin sauce wasn't watered down, but thick and yummy - they also added an extra ingredient in the hoi sin sauce, unfortunately i was not able to identify what that extra ingredient was.
My B10 arrived in a big bowl, and was packed with food. The bbq pork was very flavourful and contained a nice bbq taste, but was very thin so it wound up being a little dry and tough. I also didn't get much shredded pork either, but the spring rolls were good. Veggies consisted of lettuce, pickled julienne carrots (very good !), and julienned cucumbers. There was soooo much food that I barely finished my meal.
I tasted a slice of my companion's medium rare steak, and it was quite yummy and very tender.
Service was basic, we were asked how the meal was, and the empty bowls were taken away in a reasonable amount of time. The only thing missing at our table was chopsticks. I noticed that every table had a brown container with chopsticks, spoons, and a sauce dish, ours was missing. Depending on where you are seated, the seating arrangements between tables are cramped. I did find it distressing that if someone is seated in the booth seats, and needed to get up, they had to squeeze between tables, thus you were subjected to the other person's behind while eating.
Decent value, for 2 people (incl. appetizer) total was $22.73, not bad.
If you go to the restaurant's website, it says that there are 3 locations, location #2 is actually Vietsub Express, and is much cheaper than Pho Huong.
Best in the South West!. We've been coming to Pho Huong for a few years now. They partially renovated the inside recently, and the tables and seating are much improved. The food is excellent, and made doubly awesome by the price. I've had Vietnamese all over the city, and in my opinion nothing else competes with Pho Huong in this or the next price bracket. The shrimp salad rolls and spicy beef ball soup are my favourites, but everything I've tried has been really good. The kitchen is quick, and the servers are usually very good about keeping your water glass refilled. They are also accommodating to special orders, which is really nice.
Got pho sate with chicken, to go. It was excellent with lots of sprouts and basil on the side. Broth is amazing! Good prices too.
The lunch usual. My work-mates an I have been here so many times I'm kinda tired of it. The prices and the food are good. The service is fast and consistent too. Yeah, the decor sucks, but who cares? And remember the rule: if you like a restaurant, don't look in the kitchen.
I keep coming back!! this place really is delicious and has about a $2(less) difference then other Viet resteraunts. I am here very often for dine-in and take out!
Very good food at very value. Always busy.
Great food. I love this place. I used to live a couple blocks away and ate here a few times a month. I have unfortunately moved to the NW, now I only get there once a month. Great taste, great portions all for a reasonable price. To those people who said it's "dirty" go to Vietnam and see what their kitchens look like....or actually don't you'd be too scared to eat and starve on your holidays.
Love this place!!!. We have been coming here for years, and we live in the deep south off Canyon Meadows and Bow Bottom, so it's a bit of a drive for us. But worth it every time. Our favorite items are the Curry Chicken on Rice, soo tasty and loaded with veggies. My favorite is number 1, the pho satay beef soup...just so very tasty and so warming on cold days. The Bun dishes are great, number 26 is a real hit with newbies. Service can be rushed and they do have carts of dishes in the hall by the bathrooms, but they're trying their best to keep up with their popularity... Their prices are very modest for the portions. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a new pho phavorite :)
Not As It Once Was. This used to be my favourite place for vietnamese. You always got a large portion for the price and it was a good atmosphere.
They've gone down hill. They've jam packed the restaurant with tables (in which makes for awkward conversation as it's essentially group dining). The food isn't up to par either. The chicken has more fat and skin on it than meat. I like to order the vermicelli as a lighter dish, not a heavy one. Hopefully their quality will go back to what it used to be.
But the bubble tea is still great...can't beat them.
Pho is a go!. Like it, loved it, want some more of it! I moved far away from there but was my favorite place to go! They don't charge for hoi-sin and are very friendly and efficient. Good smoothies and good food! Best seafood curry rice I have tried in a Vietnamese!
Probably one of the better Vietnamese restaurants in Calgary, if not the best in the west. In a city littered with Vietnamese restaurants to the rim, PHV stands out with its incredibly large selection coupled with great QUALITY.
Just about every dish in this restaurant is above average in taste. (Pho, Rice Vermicelli, Rolls, etc.) This is hard to say for other Vietnamese restaurants that provide an equally large selection.
Finally, their take on Beef Satay broth for Pho is easily my favorite!
I love this place my girlfriend and I eat here regularly and I would recomend it to anyone
It's very good I love it. but I liked it a lot more at there old location bacause they had family for staff and a new waitor every time I went.
Excellent Food and Well Priced. I really like coming to this restaurant. All the staff here are very friendly and the food I think is NUMBER ONE IN CALGARY. It's taste very good and really reasonable.
The Noodle soup tastes really good and the SUB is amazing. We are regular here.
I recommend it.
Fantastic food, fast service and cheap!. We love this place. We've been going since our daughter was an infant. Of particular note, the avocado shakes are phenomenal and the beef noodle soups are really good, with a tasty broth. One gem on the menu you might miss is the beef stir fry on rice (number C2) on the menu in the rice section. The key is, order it MILD!! If you don't, it's too spicy to enjoy, but if you do, for a whopping $6.95 or so (the price might change by the time you read this), this is one delicious dish. It tastes a bit Thai or Malaysian as there seems to be coconut milk in it, but it's good.
The vermicelli dishes are good and so are the egg noodle dishes. Unique flavours in the vegetarian egg noodle dish.
This is worth going to and it doesn't hurt your pocket book.
Enjoy!
Sarah and Mark
This place is a gem!. The staff are amazing with children, service is super fast and food hot and well priced! Good for you and your wallet. Love it,
Great Food, Great Price. After moving locations from a small little place on Bow Trail to a larger place on 17th ave, it seems Pho Huong has grown in popularity. The reason i mention this first is because if you're heading for dinner there go early, or late, because it fills quite quickly and you will be waiting at the door.
The Service is a typical service, like anything other Pho or Vietnamese place. They do their best to accommodate the large amount of people and occasionally will screw up an order. But if you've been to your fave place, you've seen it there too.
The food is great, it's simple and delicious. I can vouch for pretty much every Pho soup on the menu, and items 25 and 26. I would list the rest however you can look at the menu.
It's a clean place for the most part, when its packed, the loud conversations and the close proximity of tables will sometimes damper the experience.
Overall this is a great place and should be tried by those who like Pho or Vietnamese.
At there old location the food was good! Now at there new spot here on the top end of 17th they have by far the best vietnamese food in town.
