Good service and a flavourful broth (I get the chicken pho) make this my favourite Vietnamese place in the NW. The chicken spring rolls are also great. They taste very fresh and chicken is a unique choice for spring rolls, which I appreciate.
Great food. The satay beef pho is the best in town, if you like peanuts, which I love. We drive there just for the satay beef. The green onion cake is really good. Staff are friendly compared to other Viet restaurants. Clean. Portion size is good. One of my favorites. Definitely recommend.
I don't know why the rating is so low. If order for you to get pho quality like this you would have to drive down to forest lawn to eat. It's not my top 5 for Calgary but it's close to it. The broth seems slightly better in the 17 ave Pho Hoan and that's my top 5 in the city. I don't rate for service but this place has better service for a viet place.
Btw just come down for pho and nothing else.
It's expected to receive less or simply mediocre service at pho restaurants. However this was not the case! Staff was very friendly and checked our table consistently to make sure everything was okay. I do not have knowledge of authentic, home made pho. But to me, this was great! The broth had a great flavour (most important!) and they were generous with the meat. The restaurant is quite large and pretty nice and clean. Great stop for a cheap, hot bowl of noodles in the NW!
My wife and I love this place. My favourite is the seafood noodle soup with the sate beef broth (you have to ask for it since it's not on the menu). Their sate broth has a perfect balance of peanut, depth of flavour, and heat. Love it.
Service is great. Place is big and clean. Bathroom are nice. Can't complain.
Came here on a Friday evening and was surprised to find it quite busy inside, especially since it was Canada day. I had ordered #15 on the menu, which was pho that consisted with all the meats they had on the menu and my boyfriend ordered the bun bo hue. I was surprised with how much meat was in my bowl and how large the "large" size was. There were three sizes. Extra large was way more than enough, based on our neighbouring table. The bun no hue was nice and very spicy but not excessively. The soup broth of the pho was delicious and I was surprised with how much meat I was given in my bowl! All in all, this is a delicious and in expensive place to go for a large bowl of pho! Would definitely go again in the near future!
I ordered take out, so I don't know how is the service in the restaurant, but from what I can see from the server that helped us, the staff seems very friendly, and the environment of the restaurant is really nice (very spacious but with a mom&pop kind of feel). The food was delicious, and they serve a lot of meat in the pho. I will definitely go back and have a meal at the restaurant (will update as soon as I get a chance to go there again).
So after reading the reviews for their pho saté, we decided to give this place a try for Sunday brunch. They were not busy and the place is huge and clean.
Ordered their pho saté in a small and it did not disappoint! It's the right creaminess and good amount of peanut in the broth. It came with three maybe four pieces of beef but large slices. I still prefer pho saté in the hood, but I am so happy that I don't have to drive all the way south anymore. I can say that it's the best pho saté I've tried in the NW. Will definitely go again!
Recommended by a Veitnamese friend.First visit left a good impression that I would return. There is a varied menu besides the usual appetizer rolls, pho, bun and the rice platters. We tried the HUGE green onion cake (surprise) which was very good. I tried the house special pho. It came in one size. The broth was good. Pho sides included a small serving of bean sprouts, Thai basil sprig and a lime wedge. Server was friendly and efficient, but communication seemed a challenge.
Would love to try the other dishes next time!
a nice vietnamese restaurant in the NW up in royal oak. It is located near egg oasis the newer development to the right of Wal Mart. I haven't been able to find any good quality pho places in the nw till recently. Pho Vanh and this place are on the list.
I usually order the Sate Chicken, BBH and the chicken wings here are delicious.
The sate is semi peanuty and have amazing flavour with the right amount of kick.
I prefer the chicken over the beef because i find the chicken more tender. Sometimes i find the beef chewy.
I rarely order wings at a Viet restaurant, but my cousin raved about how good they are and they ARE. They are simply fried and seasoned, and its always sizzling when they bring it out.
A reliable spot for your fundamental Vietnamese neighbourhood restaurant. You'll find the basic phos, buns, and rice dishes at this shop and they're all good enough quality to satisfy your cravings. It's also a large enough menu that you might find some interesting stand-out dishes.
The pho is a good flavourful broth and the satay has a distinctive hearty spicy, but one of the more interesting items is the hot and sour broth that I get with seafood. Good flavours of tartness and spice that go really well together.
The service is fast here, orders come out very quickly, less than ten minutes for a pick-up. It's also a large restaurant - really friendly for larger groups or families. In a pinch, this is a pretty convenient place to pick up a quick simple dinner.
Ever since our last favourite Vietnamese pho place started skimping on ingredients, we switched over. Broth is acceptable, quality of meat is quite good (buttery enough for our fanily). Service has always been quick & efficient with us because we know exactly what we want on the menu, and staff there know we want to finish our food without interruption. This isn't a place where you like to be fawned over constantly throughout your meal, and that's not unusual for most restaurants that serve Asian cuisine.
Close to home and delicious beef satay!. I've been here several times now since moving to the area and have not been disappointed. Love the beef satay soup and the pho. More pricey than most other Vietnamese restaurants, but there is always tons of food and I'm left full and with leftovers!
Hoan of my new favorites. I moved to the area a couple months ago and was really happy to find this place. Delicious bun, very good satay beef pho, yummy onion cake. Prices a touch on the high side, but not bad for Calgary. Wish they would serve water by default, as I don't like the complimentary tea much.
Fusion?. I don't know about fusion looks like a Vietnamese menu to me but the Bun is delicious probably top 5 I have had. The bun broth is so flavorful with some heat & I like it hot. Very good
We've eaten at many vietnamese restaurants and this place has the best satay beef soup hands down! It's different from others and seems to have a slight Malaysian hint to it. We've had satay soup in many restaurants but always keep coming back to these guys. It's now become our comfort food stop.
Mind Blowing Satay. I'm not vietnamese, so I don't have a lifetime of experience with vietnamese cuisine, however in the past 10 years it has been a pursuit to find the best broths in the city. (needless to say, I LOVE pho and all other associated vietnamese soups!)
First time at this restaurant. We had #48 Beef Satay, upon recommendation. The broth was rich, spicy and peanutty. Aside from being slightly too rich, the flavour was impeccable.. It was served smoking hot with a good amount of noodles along with rare beef. The service took a little longer than most vietnamese restaurants, but I can attest, it was worth the wait. Lastly, It left a good feeling with me as I wasn't overly thirsty post meal.
I'm looking forward to trying their basic pho broth!
Best pho in the NW. Come here all the time and always get the safe beef pho :)
I like this Noodle house. We generallybget take out and have always had a great meal.
Fast service, low prices, clean restaurant, great food. I love this restaurant. I am so thrilled that we FINALLY have a decent restaurant in Royal Oak!
I've been to this restaurant about 4 times so far, and I've been very pleased so far. The staff will greet you the second you walk in the door. Even when it's busy you will never wait for service. Restaurant is always spotless, you see someone cleaning up all the time.
The pho broths are delicious, very aromatic and tasty! My fiancee didn't like the sate broth, he found it sweet, but my beef pho was perfect. I have noticed that the food takes a tiny bit longer than most Vietnamese places to come out, but it's definitely worth the wait! Staff are friendly and prompt, and the silverware is always clean. Royal Oak finally has a good restaurant, and it was worth the wait!
Great Food and Nice Decor!. My boyfriend and I were looking for a nice dinner spot after some shopping and we found Pho Hoan Pasteur and we decided to give it a try, and it did not disappoint! We started off with the green onion cakes, which is an item we've never heard of before, but the first bite was heaven! The cake was warm and puffy, the outside had a nice crisp to it while the inside was nice and soft and really good onion-y goodness without it being too overpowering. I got the number 45 pho, and the broth was flavourful and my portion had a generous amount of meat. Perfect for a cold day! My boyfriend got the vermicelli bowl (32E) he also enjoyed his meal. The overall decor of the restaurant was really nice and service was good and speedy. I would definitely return when I'm in the area!
Best in the NW. The food here is always tasty, fast service, and clean. Not the best pho I've ever had but definitely in my top 3. Nice place for an inexpensive dinner. Would definitely recommend this place for vietnamese food.
Fan of their pho!. We love the Edmonton location so decided we needed a pho fix in Calgary close to home. The restaurant is spacious and modern and the servers friendly and efficient. I had my usual pho with everything and the mister had the beef sate soup. He said it was "deliciously hot" and it burned in a good way. The flavor was consistent with Pho Hoan Pasteur in Edm but it was definitely spicier. I could smell the peanutty broth! I liked the light yet flavorful base of my soup and the excellent noodle to meat ratio. My only complaint would be I ordered a large and I guess I was expecting it to be a bit bigger considering most large sizes I either can't finish or they stuff me (tiny asian for scale). I still left happy and would return.
This place has great satay beef pho. Broth has depth and is full of flavour. Also comes with decent noodles and a good amount of beef. Would definitely recommend.
Hue style soup !. Just tried this resturant a few weeks ago when it opened with a buddy during lunch. I ordered the hue style soup and he ordered the satay and i must say the hue style soup is amazing !! It has a such a distinctive flavour and aroma when it hits your table. My friend also said the satay is good, but when i tried a sample from his bowl it was a little bit on the sweet side. However, the hue style soup is one of the best soups i have ever had in a long time and plus it goes extremely well with this freezing Calgary winter ! you have to try this hue style soup, trust me you will thank me later !
Delicious!!. Finally an awesome Vietnamese restaurant that makes Pho Sate properly; with a delicious spicy peanut broth and high quality ingredients!! This is definitely going to be a new favorite restaurant.
Great new place! I popped i.... Great new place!
I popped in in a Sunday for some takeout-my order was done well within 10 minutes and tasted fantastic. Cheap-ish too.
Excited to try the soup next time!
