We gave this place a try the other day for takeout. Spicy Hut has a Thai / Chinese mixed menu. I ordered the crispy chicken and Pad Thai. The crispy chicken (super crispy with tender boneless meat) mixed with a nice blend of spices and was well seasoned. It's like the colonel of KFC meets asia (aka asian colonel). The Pad Thai had a blend of peanuts and mixed vegetables with chicken (tasted delicious with a bit of heat). The prices here are about $15 per dish. They also give you a couple spring rolls if your order is over $30. I'd would recommend you giving this place a try.
I love this place. The ginger beef is the best I've ever had. The dumplings are great too! I have never been disappointed with anything on their menu and I try something new every time... But I always get the ginger beef and the dumplings. ALWAYS.
We ordered from here about once a week. Pad Thai is so good and huge portion. The red curry sauce is amazing on everything and they have the biggest chicken wings I've ever seen! Would highly recommend this place to anyone.
I thought I was just biased as I used live three blocks away and used to order Scezhuan/Thai take out from Spicy Hut all the time... but somethings just keep steering me back time and time again even though I live miles away.
This is not one of those luxurious Thai restaurants in town. Those have their time and place.
I come here for the food. It's casual and I like that.
If you feel that "Spicy" should be spicy and you feel that 90% of restaurants overcook their food, then this place is for you.
Lunch specials are a little pricier at 13.95 pp, but it's fast and good quality. Their soups and coconut curries are hand made and delicious. Their stir fries are perfectly cooked... they taste as they should; flame-kissed from a scorching-hot wok and plated. Vegetables are crisp, meat is so tender, and so tasty.
Location is great imo. It's just outside of Downtown with free street parking.
Great for either thai or Chinese for at least for the 10 years I've been a patron!
Definately go try the duck curry! Rich and yummy. The stuffed chicken wing was okay, but a bit pricy. Overall was a great experience. I will go back and try more dishes on the menu
Every new dish presented a strong flavour that differed from the rest. We were taken on a great journey through Thai culture and left craving for more. Spicy Hut offers bountiful portions while being well priced with a massive menu. We're definitely coming back to try more dishes soon!
We were looking for some delicious curry and boy did S week provide us with a lot of options. The final choice ended up being Spicy Hut as it's located close to home. Their menu is ridiculously large and quite overwhelming, but we managed to order a couple of dishes for our spicy adventure! . Tom Yum Goong- Thai hot and sour soup with prawns, mushrooms, lemon grass and lime leaves
Delicious. We got take here for the first time and were very happy with our choice. I had the hot and sour soup, which I couldn't stop raving about the whole way through. It was so flavorful and packed with mushrooms, tofu egg and other delicious things. Also had the pad Thai and the seafood eggnoodle dish. Both were amazing. We will definitely be ordering again. I highly recommend it. Huge portions too. Great value.

I ate at Spicy Hut for the first time last week. Even though I heard great things about this place, I was always skeptical as it looks kinda dingy. Holy moly. The best Asian takeout I've ever had. The ginger beef and lemon chicken were made of quality meat. The ginger beef was the best I've ever had. We had dumplings, rice, and chop suey as well. All amazing. I cannot wait to eat there again as sweet and sour chicken balls are my favorite, so I need to try theirs as I'm confident they will be delicious. I pretty much can't wait to try everything on the menu. I highly recommend this place and will probably eat there at least once a month (I don't eat out much so that's a lot for me).
Hidden gem. Spicy Hut's interior and exterior decor looks discouraging, but that aside, the food is amazing. I can close my eyes and blindly pick items from the menu and I would never be disappointed.
I've been to spicy hut a number of times now and have not been dissappinted by the food even once. The service is ok but the food makes up for it. I find myself craving their pad thai quite often! Although I do agree with other reviews, in that they could make the food spicier!
But i havent been in a few years. i seem to recall the ginger beef and ginger chicken were pretty good

Ohhh, it's sooo delicious. Yes, the spring rolls are greasy. So what, just don't order them. Ppl On here say, "If you like spicy, then it's for you." umm, duh, hence why it's called Spicy Hut! There's a few reviews that say they don't like it. Well, I guess those ppl are clearly idiots! The majority of ppl love it, and so do I!
Great food and excellent value. Huge portion sizes! The restaurant looks a bit shabby but the food completely makes up for this. I recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family

Great Food!. Went here for the first time tonight and the food was great! The service was great! Our water glasses were never empty! The spring rolls were a little greasy, but tasty! I will be back!

Best Chinese/Thai in the city. I have been to a lot of these types of restaurants in Calgary and this one is the BEST, by far. The Ginger beef is amazing, and the Pad Thai is awesome! I also really enjoy the Wonton soup, super tasty! The atmosphere is nothing special, the service is fine, but the food is excellent!! I do recommend this place!

When you eat in, they always have awesome specials too. Mongolian Beef skewers= delisciousness.
You can get a large amount of high quality Thai/Chinese food delivered to your home for under 35 bucks. Easily enough for 4.

Its chinese/thai fusion, great panang duck, pad thai, crispy fried chicken (my favorite dish), yellow curries etc. Its a lot of bang for you buck, large portions and cheap prices.
Tasty hut?. Our delivery was amazingly fast, and the food (tom yum goong and pad thai) was delicious. I was very disappointed in the spice levels: when I order from "spicy hut' I expect a challenge! Our dishes were rated 3S and 2S, the hottest and middle-hot levels respectively, but didn't even get my nose running. My wife could handle them easily, and she's not very good with spicy food. We'll order again though, it was extremely yummy.

My addiction. Spicy Hut has never let me down. Many of the reviews here have already rated several of their menu items as I would but I need to make some additions...
I order the Peanut Curry Tofu often - which, in my opinion and all whom I've introduced it to, is the best way I've ever eaten tofu. Even if you don't like tofu or have never tried it - try this one. Fried chunks of tofu covered in a spicy peanut curry sauce with carrots, onions and peppers. Have it over coconut rice. So amazing. It is NOT on the menu but I discovered it when they once had it as a special. Ask for it. You will want to lick the plate.
I also order the salt and pepper eggplant very often. This one is best eaten in the restaurant as it looses some texture when delivered. If you like salt and pepper squid, try this one. Again, when I share with someone they become hooked on this salty savoury surprise. Again... this one is not on the menu!
If I could have one soup before I die, it would be their Tom Yum Goong. I think this one keeps me healthy ha ha. Burning hot with mushrooms, lemongrass, tomato, lime leaves and prawns.
Yup, it's a dive, but crazy good stuff comes out of it.
Food ok enough, prices ok. The food is ok. It's not great (I have some doubt about the quality). The service is ok, not great. The prices are good. The ginger beef tastes ok so I'll go again.
Spicy but yummy..... I have been going to Spicy Hut for years and I always order the Ginger Beef, Duck Panang Curry and usually the Crispy Chicken or the battered Seafood. Spicy Hut is a much better deal than eating at a Thai restaurant -- Spicy Hut is Thai/Peking style so you still get the coconut rice and the curries but you get a twist on the Thai/Peking style recipes. The serving sizes are always decent sized and we usually end up taking home leftovers!

As an avid Thai food consumer, I've found it difficult to find a place that really make an impact. Fortunately, I was told about Spicy Hut and it really stepped up to the plate. If you can get past the typical low esthetic appeal of the restaurant itself and focus on the food experience, you will not be disappointed. This place has the best Ginger beef, Thai green curry, and battered eggplan hands down. If you like Thai, then you need to experience Spicy Hut.
Mmmmmmm spicy hut!. Really delicious and cheap! Fresh ingredients, tasty spices, and super fast delivery! The veggy curry is so great and they offer a free dish if you sepnd so much $$. We'll be ordering again soon!
The ginger chicken was pretty crunchy but satisfying with a nice sweet and spicy mix, the beef dish was amazing with just the right amount of peppery goodness and the pancakes were awesometown, kind of like build-it-yourself Chinese burritos.
We got a flyer in our mail so thought we would try it out. I had heard good things. The red curry here is awesome. We had it with the coconut rice. Despite the “spicy” in the name, you can get everything without spice.
I like that they have free delivery within 3km and you get free things if you order over a certain amount. We ordered over $40 and got some really yummy chicken fried rice.

Spicy Hut is one of our favorite local Thai-Asian Restaurants in Calgary. Simple decor & great friendly service at this family run business. Try the stir fried beef and brocolli w Cashews and definitely don't miss our favorite the Salt and Pepper Squid. Yummy.

It's not fine dining but it's still excellent Thai and Chinese food. A veritable trove of dishes to select, each marked for heat (if it's spicey), which is delivered to the table in a timely manner, especially when you go before the rush. Every time I go it's a good time had.
Super busy. Wait was longer than usual. However it was Mother's Day and the dine in and take out was non stop busy.
Always Great food. Worth the wait.
