The ramen is really good. The different kinds of soup actually taste different and they use different noodles for each kind of soup too! The give a large chunk of char sui as well. I'd say it's the second best ramen in town after Shiki Menya.
4.5 stars, the ramen is great. They have varying thicknesses depending on the soup base and ingredient combination. The portions are definitely small and you're not getting a lot of food for your money, but what you do get are bold flavours and quality. The alternative dishes seem to be pretty good too, but have not had a chance to try those.
A hearty ramen "house" with a surprisingly varied menu. Warm server experience, the chef even came out to discuss food options and variations.
The deserts are excellent and sized small so you can enjoy without the guilt :)
The food here was absolutely fantastic. We had the Kabocha Gnocchi to start, and it was really well done. Great gnocchi in a really good, slightly spicy, sauce.
I had the Yuku Soy Chicken Cutlets and my girlfriend had the Lamb Rib Cacciatore. Both were incredible. Highly recommended.
We visited Carino during the soft launch of their new venture, JJ's Ramen. The server was awesome and snuck us in right at the lunch closing time of 2:30pm. The ramen was the best I've had in Calgary - and we have sampled a number. The flavours between the two soups we tried were distinctive, unique and just really, really tasty. I can't wait to go back and love having it in the hood.
The service was exceptional and friendly. This Italian and Japanese fusion restaurant has a menu full of enticing options. Out of the three starters and mains we shared, I did enjoy the pure Japanese offerings a little more, but saying this, the "duck, duck, duck" was fantastic. It's a small place with a modern designed interior.
