At Matador Pizza last night for Jade (Bumblebee Baskets) and Rich (Splash It Painting) Xmas get together. The absolute best pizza, ever!! I'd drive up there just for the pizza I enjoyed it that much. Also, the lady serving that crowd last night did a phenomenal job. Didn't miss a drink or a plate and so nice too. Thank you.
I like the pizza, a lot!! And I normally like thinner crust pizzas. But they are very generous with the cheese and the toppings at Matadors.
I prefer their pizza over their pasta, but I've always enjoyed my meals there.
They also have wonderfully friendly wait staff.
Great family restaurant. Excellent pizza. My fave meal: ribs. And the caramel banana bread cheesecake is absolutely to die for.

Love going to this place! They messed up my pizza but gave me a new one with two desserts for free! Thank you so much for handling this so well. I hate complaining but you went above and beyond! Also thanked me for being so understanding. I already recommend you to everyone but I will be even more so because of the excellent customer service. Plus the food is amazing.

Matador Pizza is always wonderful. The Caesar salad is amazing with the added touch of dill.
We usually order the Bullfighter pizza and it is so full of meat sauce onion, green pepper and lots of cheese.
I order mine in Gluten Free and it too tastes great.
You will not be disappointed.
Been at Matador Pizza and Steakhouse many times. No complaints. Service is good and the food is always good. The best pizzas as far as we are concerned and also those we have taken there agree.

I have been here twice now. Once for dinner and today for a meeting. I can not stress enough how amazing the service and food is. Even the coffee is great! The staff is incredible and service fantastic. The food is so delicious that we have already made reservation to bring friends to try it. You need to go with an apatite because the portion size WILL be very filling, and you won't be able to stop till the plate is empty. Fantastic! I can not wait to go back!
Ordered a pizza and short ribs tonight. ABSOLUTELY amazing. Pizza was perfect and all requests followed...short ribs....INCREDIBLE!!! best food I have had in SO long. HIGHLY recommend. Do not miss out on this gem.
This place has one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I love the style of pizzas and the quantity. If you're in around varsity area and craving a pizza forget about going to a chain.
Very good restaurant and good service. We ordered steak and meat spaghetti and bbq ribs, portion was reasonable for their price, salad was fresh, steak was cooked just right, and the ribs were huge. We would definitely return.
Thick heavy pizzas at its best. Loaded with cheese, loaded with a creamy red sauce and loaded with toppings, these are filling and satisfying pizzas.
Of the broad selection of pizzas, my favourite is the Meat Lovers packed with Italian red meats including Spolumbos sausage, thick salami and house-made ground beef. The amount of meat makes the pie really juicy. A close second is the Matador Special packed with a good balance of meats and veggies.
With the packed toppings, the crust can become a bit soft and wet if you leave them to sit, but right out of the oven, they're pretty amazing. Soft and doughy with a firm crust, if you like pizza bread, this will give you a good amount.
Matador has been around in Calgary's Varsity area for a few decades and has become a trusted neighbourhood spot for getting a good meal. There are other steak entrees and pastas to choose from, but I've only ever ordered the pizzas. They do it well and for a family restaurant they're a reliable spot.
Best take-out lasagne in the city! I haven't dined in but if you're feeling Garfield and live in the north this is pasta-crack. Love finding neighbourhood gems like Matadors.

Not rushed!! Nice atmosphere. We came here for our anniversary dinner. My partner got the ribs special. I got the Matador Special pizza. My Pizza was huge & loaded with ingredients. Perfect amount of tomato sauce. My partners ribs were delicious. It was not a busy night when we went. We were not rushed. No pushy attitudes at all. Wonderful place to go!!
Never let me down. I`ve never been let down by Matador Pizza & Steak House! I can always be confident to find friendly staff and food that`s consistently delicious! You can always count on it. I`ve introduced many new and happy customers to this restaurant over the years. Unlike Tony Roma`s at Crowfoot... bad service, bad food. Go read their reviews if you want to get depressed. But come back to Matador, it was refreshing to come to the page for Matador. Read all the positive feedback for this outstanding restaurant. They know how it is done. Keep up the great work! I`ll be over for lunch this week, bringing a friend for her birthday, it is our tradition.

I still like it but I used to love it.... I still enjoy thenfood, but In feel economic oressure has put a squeeze on the quality control as I can have "great as it always was" one day and then "oh that 's unfortunate" the next visit. Never bad, but 1/4 times is seems I get a bland tasting entree (I love to mix thing up , but haven't found it particular to one thing as it might be the pizza , the baked pasta or the veal. I don't know if it's a change in suppliers, ingedients, or just kitchen staff differences, but it's unfortunate since it has left a bad impression on two family members so it's not a go-to anymore. I used to also order a ton off their Late Night menu as it was great and open 'til like 4am like Manny's downtown (although Matador was great food, unlike Manny's). Now however I'm older , wiser, err..... a bit rounder.... so no more 4 am feasts. ;-)
For steak I always went to Nick's so dunno if the Matador steaks have changed.
I still like it, but like I said no longer rave about it, as at times I would put Matador up there with Rhea's, which is consistently fantastic , other times Matador is competing with the likes of BP or PH. Consistency is my issue here... and it's never been fast which was ok, but is an issue if it's one of the days it's not great.

Great pizza. I went here for lunch today and the pizza was fantastic!!!! They sure aren't skimpy on the toppings. Very delicious. It wasn't too busy as we went early but service was friendly as well! Will definitely go back.

Never Disappoints!. Went to Matador for dinner the other night - there was a line up when we got there so we contemplated going elsewhere (I hate waiting for anything...) they seemed to be really organized at the front desk and were turning the tables over quickly. We were told about a 20 minute wait, it ended up only being 10, we were glad we decided to wait because, SUPER FANTASTIC yet again!!! I had a pizza, 'the vegetarian deluxe' OMG delish!!! One of my friends requires a gluten free meal so she tried their gluten free pizza - It was REALLY good! Nice and crispy, no gross aftertaste (whish she said can be a problem at some places) the only complaint was that it is only available in a 10inch size so she had to take pizza home with her (who complains about leftover pizza?!? Good grief!!!) Another friend had the greek salad with chicken - another fantastic meal! And, last but not least, another friend had the baked lasagne - I have seen this dish pass by me at least 5 times everytime I go to Matador and it always smells soooooo good - according to my friend, it tastes better than it smells! We started with a new item on their menu, 'shrimp kapow' or something like that? They were battered shrimp that were fried and then tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce - they were so light and crispy and the sauce was so delicious! had a little bit of kick to it at the end - we could not get enough! (AND, they were listed as gluten free!!!) One of my friends said that the menu is new, I apparently do not pay enough attention when I go out for dinner as this got past me without notice! When she asked the waitress, it was explained that the menus were new, (one for lunch and one for dinner) but that most of the old standbys were still there with some new features added. Without a recollection of the last menu, I can only say that I loved the variety on the new menu and think that even the most finiky eaters will find something they want on this menu! Once again, Matador did not disappoint - Great service, great food! If you are looking for REAL food, no crazy frills or drizzles or froo froo, go to MATADOR. That is all...
Great food, great service. I've driven by so many times and tonight finally tried it with hubbie and kids. We ordered gluten free pizza, which was very good. We also tried the ribs and it was tender and came with stuffed potato, garlic toast and veggies, and a side of soup. Big portions. The Caesar salad had a touch of dill and was perfect. Food is delicious. Best of all, the service was awesome from front door greeting to wait staff. When we left the staff at the front thanked us for coming. Will definitely be back!
I used to eat here like 20 years ago and it was so good. Met up with some old friends for dinner. Place hasn't changed one bit...I think some of the regulars were the same. Ended up trying the lasagna...soooo good. I'm sure I'll be back again.
Whoa slow down on the salt please!!!. I have eaten here numerous times and been quite satisfied. Last friday I order an XL pizza and had a couple of pieces on three separate occasions. The pizza was very good, but way way too salty. To the point that I could not sleep through the night as I was so thirsty I drank 2L of water. Today I ate the last two pieces for lunch and the thirst is aweful. I'm on my 4th glass of water and crave more. I don't have any health issues, so that's not the cause. Please cut down on the salt or I won't be able to eat your pizzas anymore. Thanks.
My sister had mentioned to me that Matador is a great restaurant. I had to check it out for myself. I was pleasantly suprised to have a great experience. The chicken wings, Caesar salad and gluten free pizza were unreal!!! I will definitely be back to have another amazing experience!
Go here once a week and the food is amazing, they give you tons of food whether it is pizza or pasta.

Service with a SMILE. I was at Matadors not to long ago and it was an all around great experience! My girl friend and I loved the food and the atmosphere, (ps. get the greek pizza its amazing). What really put our experience over the top was the service we received from this handsome young man named Khalid. He made us feel comfortable and welcome put our experience over the top. It is refreshing to have servers that enjoy what they do, and what they do is put a smile on your face :). The food was excellent, the atmosphere warm and the service was over and above!

Awesome. Last week i went there with some friends, and wow the pizza is awesome very good staff and customer oriented we also tried the ceasar salad and it also was very good, i would recommend it any day and very beautiful waitresses, love it.
Great Food. The pizza and pastas are excellent here, the only other place I get my pizza is Atlas sports bar, these two places almost make an identical pizza, Tons, and Tons of cheese on the pizza and pasta's.
Fantastic pizza. Classic Greek style full body and flavour pizza. Great crust and just enough cheese. Flavourful meats and vegs with a robust sauce. Not too salty and soggy. Even better than Spiros. I even love the vegetarian pizza for its flavour!

Awesome!. Matador's seems like one of those places that's been around forever, which I guess is because the food is fantastic there. They honestly make some of the best pizzas in Calgary. My parents have been regulars for years and we go there all the time. Every time I go I promise myself to try something different but the pizza is just so damn good that I always end up ordering it. My girlfriend has had the baked fish before, and some fiends were pleased with the lasagna as well. Really, a can't miss place if you're in the NW by Market Mall. A word of warning though - it gets quite busy during the dinner rush anywhere from 5 - 8:30pm. Well worth the wait in my opinion!

I keep coming back!. I first discovered this gem almost 20 years ago, when I first moved to Calgary and was attending near-by UofC, and I keep coming back to Matador year after year. While the Greek Salad is a particular favorite of mine, I often opt for one of their many tasty pasta selections as well. The staff is friendly, and the location is handy for anyone in the NW. This is the restaurant I take out of town visitors to when they want an authentic taste of Calgary (i.e. not a chain restaurant)!
I'be only recently started going to matador. We've gone there about 10 times in the last 6 months. It is now the place my kids beg to go to! They have just gotten a new kids activity page that keeps my kids occupied, which I love! The pizza is great! Caesar salad is also a fave in our family. We usually go in on Mondays when it is family wing night. It also happens to be pasta night so I have seen plenty of baked lasagna go by our table but none of us have tried it yet. If it tastes as good as it smells, it is probably amazing! Staff is always friendly, I love when staff acknowledge my kids but don't treat them like they are morons. The staff at matador always make us all feel welcome! We will continue to go there as often as we can!
Great Service, Great People, Great Food. There's a reason this restaurant has been around for 35+ years. My family recently held a birthday party here for my Dad and we could not have been happier. The staff and owner were very accomodating and met all of our needs with a smile, not easy with a party of 25. Every meal I've had here has been super tasty and I would not hesitate to recommend this hidden gem to anyone. Party of 25 or party of 2, you won't be disappointed.

Amazing pizza. We order regularly as a group on Saturday's and always get pizza. It is very much enjoyed by all. We have tried other places but they do not compare to Matador's. You cannot go wrong with this restaurant when ordering pizza. I am looking forward to eating in and trying some other things on the menu. They have a nice lounge as well and the staff are always very courteous and customer oriented. Highly recommend

The Nice Tax Lady. This restaurant you can never go wrong at all! The staff are so friendly and the manager always has greetings either as you enter or leave or both. Never had a bad meal the zuchini sticks and that dill ranch dressing are to die for. Oh and PJ's are welcome too and get a great laugh that you acually do show up in them. We have brought out of town company to this wonderful place. They love it and want to go back too when they are back for a visit. Keep up the great work and thank you to all of you and your staff for making your dining place our place (good old fashion sit around the kitchen table at supper) place to be. Yay Matador!
Love it.. My boyfriend's family has been going here since his mother was at U of C. The place is full of regulars, and with good reason! The food is delicious and affordable. Staff is always friendly. Will definitely be a regular myself!
