Review Wakado Ramen - Calgary

Fantastic ramen! Unfortunately no bamboo this visit but will definitely be back. Great selections to pick from but I do wish they had a spicier option rather than adding chili oil

I’ve tried the spicy miso ramen and the veggie ramen. Both were really good. I would wish for the broth to be thicker and the spicy miso spicier, but these are just personal preferences and the dish itself was amazing. Karaage was delicious, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The seating area is very small but cozy. Service was quick and efficient. Prices and portions were reasonable. Overall: It was a great experience, I would definitely go back and recommend it to any ramen lover.

My first time having Ramen experience. I loved this place in downtown. Covid protocols on spot. Friendly staff. Delicious food. I am not sure what authentic Ramen tastes like but I can comment for those who want to try something new should try this place.

This is a pretty great place to eat! The fried chicken was fresh and juicy, the spicy ramen was lightly spicy so you can finish the bowl without sweating. I would recommend this little shop great service delicious food!

One of my favourite ramen spots in the city. Tonkatsu and Chilli Goma were both great. Chilli Goma was spicy and has quite a strong Sichuan like after taste which is quite nice. Tonkatsu was rich and flavorful. Can't wait to go back for more delicious ramen.

I am in the hunt for the best tonkotsu ramen in downtown Calgary. I tried their tonkotsu (shio and shoyu). Awesome service 5/5. The meat was so good 5/5. It was soft and was rich in flavor. The broth itself was good 4/5 Egg cooked perfectly 5/5 The corn and the lettuce threw us off 1/5 It was a great ramen experience overall. I will go back someday after I tried and compared other ramens in dowtown.

One of the better Ramen places in Calgary. Have had a few of the ramen and really love the Chili Goma (I think it has Szechuan Peppercorns in the broth... YUM). Also tried the Pork Chashu Bun which was excellent and flavorful.

Tried the Chili Goma Ramen and it was delicious. The chachu was a decent thickness, very tender, noodles were a good chewy consistency and the broth was flavorful and a pretty mild hotness. Portion was a slightly on the smaller side.

The restaurant is very nice with a great location. Unfortunately the Ramen is kind of Meh. The noodles are kind of spaghetti-ish, they're thick and lack texture. The Cashu tasted good, but didn't have much fat. Which isn't a show stopper, Canadian customers might want leaner meat. However if this is the case you'll need to step up your game with the broth since it's not getting a boost from fatty chashu. Thirdly... Salad greens on top of Ramen? This is a bad idea, lets not make this a thing. They wilt quickly. If you slurp the noodles leafy greens get in the way. Some green does look good on Ramen, why not go for chopped green onions like most of Japan does? Nori and Egg were great ... Chashu had a nice flavour. Maybe a cheap bowl of rice on the side as an option. Kimchi is also popular with Ramen in some parts of Japan. Overall, I want you to succeed. You've got a great location and a really nice place with friendly attentive staff. I'd love to come in again and have a bowl of noodles that was worth $13.95.

Clean place, friendly servers, bad ramen. Far from real tonkotsu. It just needs improvement. Good luck!

Best quality in house made fresh ramen and soup in Calgary.

First time at this ramen restaurant. It’s smaller but the service was fast. Tried the Tonkatsu black ramen and it was pretty tasty. Decent amount of vegetables. Not much in the way of chashu though. Would have like a little more. Overall, it’s a good place and I would come back to try one of their other ramen dishes. 4/5.

Decent, but nothing special. Broth was ok, noodles were not springy enough. Garlic flavour was barely noticeable. Egg texture was good & service was fast though. (3/5)

Tried the Chilli Goma with extra pork chasu. Has a nice kick of spice and a thicker creamy broth.
Service is quick and friendly.
Will likely return again.

Came here on a Sunday for lunch with the family. It's not a large place but it's very open and inviting. A bit busy on this day.

They offer premium teas for a little bit extra then their regular so we thought we'd try it. Good flavour.

For Ramen, all the broths were very flavourful. My wife got the Tonkostu Black, I got the Tonkotsu Shio, and my kids shared the Tonkotsu Shoyu. All very good. We enjoy the pork broth instead of chicken broth. The ramen noodles are straight which wasn't a big deal except that we prefer curly. The egg was cooked superbly with the yoke a mix of cooked and runny. Good portion of corn and other vegetables.

They are great with kids and provided a plastic bowl and spoon for my 3 year old. Great service. A little off the beaten path as we don't usually go down 10th avenue.

Will definitely come back and try again.

Honestly not a perfect 5, but very close and definately deserves more than a 4! Very delicious broth and the noodles tasted anything but packaged. We tried the Spicy Miso and Tonkatsu Black ramen. Wish the noodles were black in the Tonkatsu bowl. HOWEVER, a great bowl of ramen!

It's not 5/5 perfect, but I wanted to rate 4.5/5 to be precise. I was hungry going in at a late hour close to 830 PM (they close at 9). Ordered the chasiu bun to start that came quickly (but there was no other customer). The bun was nice and soft so was the chasiu with good flavour. The tonkotsu black ramen was delicious with a rich and flavorful soup base. The menu was a good selection for a small ramen shop. Staff was friendly and this place is worth returning. I hope they stay in business.

I like the feel and atmosphere of this small place, reminded me of my travels in Japan. I was very disappointed they didn’t have the spicy miso soup even though it was on the menu so I had to get the chicken broth. If you don’t eat pork this place doesn’t offer anything for you. Highly unsatisfied that they don’t even offer chicken or another meat option with their ramen, so basically my soup was just noodles and corn. My friend really enjoyed her tonkotsu black ramen and commented her pork was tender and flavorful!

Excellent full flavoured broth with perfectly cooked noodles. Their tonkatsu broth was very rich, and the miso had a great complex flavour. As good as ramen places in Tokyo. Will come here again. This place should be much busier.

Simple and straightforward menu options. Fast and friendly service. Gyoza was fantastic. Tried the spicy miso soup and it was amazing. I highly recommend.
