Great broth, friendly service with fair pricing. Wasnt the biggest fan of the veggie spring rolls but I will be back to give it another gooo.
Ah, Pho Thanh. The portions are the biggest in YYC, price is good, avocado milk shakes are legit and service is super fast. In summary: Big bowls, big fish and big G's. It may not be the best pho broth but it's the best pho experience. Make sure you're strapped.
Me and my friends go to Pho place.
Always good service and well priced food.
I come from Toronto and this is the only pho place I've found that you get what you pay for.
I've tried at least 6 different pho places in Calgary and they all have jacked up their prices.
If your looking for a quick meal, that's the place. Fastest service ever. Great pho & vermicelli bowls. Reasonable prices. Can't go wrong with that place!
Went in on a Saturday afternoon and the place was very busy, however being just my fiancé and I we were seated almost instantly. Clean tables, although somewhat small sized. Food was easily ordered as is expected from a Vietnamese restaurant with the number system and it came out fairly quickly. Our bowls of Pho were fresh and hot, and the base broth was very tasty. Portion size were also very generous for the price. Quick service. Would go back if I'm ever in that area again.
Pho is good, 3-size choices, haha, small one is already enough for me, materials are fresh. Very busy restaurant, service is not bad either. Had some spring rolls from my husband's dish, yummy. Will go back there again.
Usually a 3/5 for me but they seem to have been improved a bit and tasted better. But still way too much noodle and balance in broth and meat.
Staple pho restaurant in Calgary, have been coming for years. A little story to sum up why they are one of my favourites.
I had a coworker ask me to order a Pho Dac Biet XL for him one day as he was going to be late about 10 minutes. When he shows up to his bowl of Pho he's just about to dive in when suddenly the older lady (who I presume is the mother of the family who owns the restaurant) takes the bowl away to the back, without an explanation. We sit there dumbfounded for about a minute (I eventually dive in because I'm selfish and starving) until she comes back with a new bowl of heaping hot Pho. She then says in a very matter of fact tone "Soup no good when cold, this is better." My co-worker happily agrees with her and digs in. Add to the fact that the restaurant was busy as per usual with no empty seats. Their attention to customers and their standards for good Pho are probably the reason for their success and why I keep coming back.
Also, classic hangover spot.
Been coming here for years, vermicelli and pho are both great here. In my opinion best value in the city. Try a Vietnamese coffee if you never have before. Also some reviews said this place is cash only but that only applies to bills under 20$ or something like that.
Felt like I was walking into the 90's. The decor and atmosphere is definitely a reminiscent of those times and has not changed. It reminded me a lot of Pho Xuan from the NE.
I walked in and it was quite busy, 80% capacity. I was seated and served quite promptly despite the volume.
I got tai with tendon pho for $10. Tendon wasn't the best, but everything else tasted and seemed decent. I was mad thirsty during and after eating. They must put a lot of MSG in the broth?
Fast service, decent food, reasonable price. Only complaint is payment is in cash only.
Best Pho in the city! Good sized portions and who doesn't love free tea! Extremely fast service and polite staff. I've never had a bad experience here.
This is my favorite Pho place in Calgary! Tried many different vietnamese places and this one definitely stands out! My favourite is rare beef pho with side of sate sauce. There is something about their sate sauce. Other places normally have peanut taste in the sate which I don't like but I can't taste any peanuts from their sate sauce. The broth is very addicting and the portion is fairly good. Sometimes they are not consistent with portions though. I definitely recommend this place!
I always thought that all pho tasted the same. Everywhere I went, I was happy with the taste. Pho Thanh was definitely a place that changed my mindset.
Something about their broth is SO GOOD. I have no idea what it is, but this is the one place where the flavors really stand out to me.
The service is also amazing. I used to drop by during lunch breaks, and despite having their lunch rush, we were always immediately seated. Our food always came within 5 minutes of ordering, which still amazes me every time.
They sometimes seat you at similar tables with other people to get all their customers in, but that didn't bother me too much.
Overall, this is my fave pho place in Calgary!
Another order & eat type of Vietnamese pho place, but they have one of the butteriest and nuttiest briskets on this side of the Bow River. They are also more generous with their platter of bean sprouts and herbs than other pho places up north. Serving staff seemed to be more friendlier and approachable than the last time I was there, though this isn't an establishment made for chitchat between staff and customers (you order, eat, talk a little, pay, and gt hell out). They offered satay sauce, which a) not every pho place tells you that they offer it and b) has a stronger kick than their hot sauce. Broth has solid flavour and once you add in greens and herbs, you don't really miss the sauces (or at least I don't). There's more parking on the side of the building.
I only go to this location for the rice noodle beef soup now! It has won my heart as the destination for my family every week!
By experience, I would recommend people to go at exactly opening time or within the hour of opening where the soup is still so fresh and full of flavour! It is the golden time to eat the noodle soup; but if you prefer the meat dish I am not sure if morning is the only good time because I only go for that good soup at the morning! Definitely a good try!
this is the place to go when you craving pho at a reasonable price!! everyone goes here! their prices did go up a bit the last time i went but thats businessss. cant go wrong with this place.
Very fast service and the soup is wonderful. Just have to remember to have cash as they don't accept debit under $20. Always sad when my bowl is empty. :(
Service at the warp speed, great taste and value. This has been our family's go to pho restaurant for over 10 years. The restaurant has an indoor "street food" ambience. Nothing pretentious. Just great basic food.
I love that the pho is served with a generous portion (on the side) of raw or blanched bean sprouts, an assortment of herbs (Thai basil for one) chili peppers and lime wedge. The both is flavourful, with sufficient amount of MSG. Fast service? You can be seated, served and done eating in 10 - 15 minutes.
The prices and meat servings have adjusted to the rising cots somewhat, but is still very reasonable relative to others. One of our favorite item is the shredded pork rolls (4 per order), which few Vietnamese restaurant serves. It's a bit of a unique delicacy. Freshly made every time we ordered it.
Enjoy!
I've tried numerous viet restaurants (even in the 'hood) and this is still by far my fave. Great service (they remember you and your preferences) and prices are reasonable.
Disappointed in the payment policy and not impressed by the food
Dear Pamz There's a ATM at .... Dear Pamz
There's a ATM at reddi mart across from the restaurant, also there is signs before you come into the restaurant and right when you step into the restaurant. There is also a Td ATM right infront of the Canadian tire, next to the pub.
Bomb diggity. We both ordered the beef and tendon noodle soup, and....WE LOVED IT!
The soup was good as always, as they use little msg.
The service was good, they were pretty kind, and the food came fast and swift.
All in all one of our favourite pho places in Calgary! and the best bang for your buck too!
One of the better Pho joints. This is one of my favorite places to go for Vietnamese. I always have the Pork and Springroll Vermicelli here, and it is always great, and the service is very fast. Never disappoints.
Fast. If you're looking for cheap fast Vietnamese food this is the place to go. I can be in and out in under half an hour when I come to Thanhs. If you're expecting some kind of high class service look else where. This place is concerned with a high turn around and serving as many customers as possible. They direct you to a seat, come back to take your order, and then bring you your food. I have never had anyone come by to ask if everything was alright or make small talk and that's fine by me! It can look a little dingy and rushed, but you can't beat the speed, food and price.
LOVE THE PHO!!!!!!!!!!!. We have been going to Pho Thanh for over 10 years!! The food, especially the soup, is so consistent and good that, unless we are not in the area, we rarely go anywhere else. The service is quick. Do not expect anyone to stop by and ask how the food is. That is just how the service is, fast and easy. Fast food, Vietnamese style!
Good and Fast. Best Pho is town. Don't expect service though.
This pho is consistently delicious and fast. The broth is very flavorful and fresh. Definitely a favorite of mine when I'm
Wanting something warm and hearty. The service is so quick too! Great if you just want to eat and go.
Amazing pho sate. Highly recommend ! This place is quick and always on point ! Great for take out ! The salad rolls are also delicious. Superb!
Run down establishment but good food and serves fast. It is amazing how fast they can serve their food (I think they have a very good size kitchen, and plenty of staffs). Yet the food seems fairly fresh. Great tasting Pho and Vermicelli, the place is a hole in the wall. Great for hangovers too.
Don't expect much customer service though. Then again, you're going for Pho (noodles), not anything gourmet.
Cheap food and taste good. I would eat here once a week and the food is cheap and fast. Only downside is the place is kinda dirty and they never clean up my dishes when i am done. 7/10 stars for being fast and good tasty food
A Good Beef Broth or from a can instinct/taste. To know either it is a good Pho specialized restaurant or not is by first stepping into a restaurant instinct. By this means, when you come in for a bowl of Pho at any restaurant if you can sense of the beef broth and secondly if you see majority inside customers are Asian. These 2 hints can help you to decide it's a good pho broth with lots of beef bones (a bad pho broth mostly comes from MSG or artificial pho powder). Most White People don't know what should a good pho broth be or a perfect pho is. Conclusion: the more Asian customers in a Pho restaurant = the better the pho is. Enjoy pho - Pho is healthy and worth the $ than a fries, coke and a burger.
The Best. I love the pho broth, so delicious. Fast service!!! I always have the special pho, and either spring rolls or salad rolls. Sometimes I will have all three. The place is always lined up at lunch time, but the wait is usually not to bad.
My favorite Vietnamese Noodle House in Calgary !!!
Good. Consistent good pho. Fast and efficient service.
Good food & Fast service. Great place if you are in a rush, lunch time this place is packed so come in early or later to avoid lunch time crowds.food has always been good and your order comes in before you can pour tea into the cup.
Addicitive. I have eaten at this place weekly for three years. The food is extremely consistent and delicious. I have not found a better Pho Sate or Spring Roll anywhere else. Service is quick and simple. Your food will arrive within 10 minutes of ordering (normally within 3 min). This place gets really busy at noon and you can be left waiting in the cold. Try to arrive before 11:30 or after 12:45 to get seating. No groups of over 8 as there aren't any tables with more than 8 places. This is a simple yet fantastic lunch spot. Great value.
Saturday lunch time, all the table was full and finally got table waiting for 10 min. After ordered, i got food in 3 min! Wow, so fast! I ate sate, spring roll and fresh roll. Everything was tasty and satisfied
It offers one of the best pho I've tasted in Calgary. The broth is not too salty, and you can be assured that the meat is fresh because they are packed with customers every day. The quick service is also an added bonus!
Fast service!. May not necessarily be the best tasting pho I have had but if you factor in the amazing speed of service (never takes me than 5 minutes for food to arrive) and the great price, Pho Thanh is definitely a winner. It is a great place to go if you're on a budget, in a rush or looking for some pretty tasty vietnamese eats!
The best so far.. Excellent food - portions and price. service leaves a little to be desired but the quality and taste make up for it. Also not the highest score for decor. Will be back again and again for the taste.
Everyone's right about the fast service. Service was amazingly fast and efficient considering the place was packed full when we walked in. Two other tables around us were seated, ordered, ate their meals and were out in about 15 minutes.
We ordered pho and the spring rolls as an appetizer. Within 2 minutes of ordering, the spring rolls were on our table. We thought that may have been because they were sitting around but that wasn't the case at all. They were blazing hot and crispy.
I didn't like my Pho Sate as much though. The broth itself was good but it was more a broth for regular pho than it was for Sate. If I ordered the regular beef pho, I would've been satisfied with it. This won't deter me from coming back though. I'll just order something else next time I'm in.
The fastest service in the west, or just about anywhere.. I've been to this place at least a hundred times over the years. The service can be gruff (sometimes even rude), but it's usually just business-like. I almost always order a Pho, and it usually arrives within minutes, and the quality of both the broth and the ingredients is quite high and consistent.
At lunch time any day of the week there can be a lineup to get in, but I've never waited more than 5 minutes to be seated. That combined with the fast service once you are seated makes this the ideal spot for "fast food" in the most literal sense of the expression.
Love their soup!! Beef sate noodle soup (#15) is awesome. Ambiance is 3rd world chic and the staff seem genuinely annoyed that you're eating their food but the food and prices make it worth eating there. I eat there about once a week.
Nice little spot. I went here for lunch today, I had #24 vegetable bowl huge portion for $7.50. Lots of noodle and the spring rolls full of flavor, I will be back again service is not so much rude but they don't like to be asked too many question. Food came out super fast with in 3 min and tasted very good.
It's awesome!. Pho Thanh is one of the best Vietnamese restaurant I've ever tried. I love Pho so I am a little picky about where I go. Their soup base is close to traditional (ie. the closest thing to home cooking out there), and the food arrives the table in less than 2 minutes after ordering! How much faster can that be?
I have to admit that the service isn't always 100%, but come on, it's an Asian restaurant and you don't go there for service! I love their food and efficiency! So going back even though driving there takes at least 20 minutes.
Best pho ever!!!! It's all about the pho and the spring rolls! Trust me i'm vn and i love it here. The staff are always very helpful and even offered us scissors to cut the noodles for our 2 ys old. Best kept secret in calgary!!!!
The best pho you can get off of 17th ave SE. I love pho, and this is my go-to pho place. It's close to home, the pho sate (my measure of a pho place) is rich and flavorful, the portions are big, and the food comes out so fast that it's almost scary.
This is the way Pho should be. I sat down, ordered and before I could even take off my coat, the soup was on the table piping hot and ready to eat..;..Well, not quite that fast but I could swear it was less than 3 minutes. It looks like they do huge volume in this place so it only makes sense that they would have pots and pots full of broth for the soup.
PRetty good value as well. Tucked in off the street beside the KFC.
No pretense, just HOT, FAST AND GOOD!. This place is not pretentious, and has no qualms about being a quick serve joint. In this, excellent, quick and reasonably priced Vietnamese pho and bun. I am a big fan of bun, and the ingredients are cooked to perfection. The shrimp stick and the chargrilled chicken/spring roll duo buns are excellent, and the ca phe sua dau (iced coffee with milk) is always well done.
Good food, good prices -- come in hungry, leave full without the empty wallet blues.
All round good food. And fast !
The menu is limited, but the food is great and the prices are low. Service is not the friendliest but it is fast.
Served hot!!. It is one of the fastest food served Vietnamese Restaurants in Calgary. You place an order and 30 seconds later you get your food. The only exception would be during peak hours but you only wait like 3 minutes and then your are eating. We get spoiled here so when we go to other restaurants and we have to wait like 5 minutes for our food, we become hungry grumps. Another plus is that by the time you finish your pho the soup is still piping hot, which we all love. One flaw, the service is ho hum. It is hard to crack a smile from these people.
Whenever I go out for Pho, I always get the same thing. The house special. You know... the one with all the miscellaneous cow parts? It's great. Some people can't do the texture. So I guess it's an acquired taste. And you know what I love about Pho Thanh?
