Review Pho Pasteur Saigon Restaurant - Calgary

Gaion Jang
This Vietnamese restaurant in downtown of Calgary offer the pho (rice noodle with beef or seafood broth), good bun (rice vermicelli with various grilld meat, spring roll, and vegetables), and really delicious spring roll. And servers were kind. The taste was quite good and quantity was also generous, also the price was cheap. Just it seemed the broth of pho tasted some lack of complexity of Vietnamese various ingredients. Also they didn't serve bean sprouts what normally othere Vietnamese restaurant serve for pho. But when I checked thr photos before writing this review, they served bean sprouts. So if they wouldn't serve it, plz ask! At here you should pay only cash at counter, they didn't give us check or receipt, and just show us the numbers on a calculator.

Sadly at start of Covid-19 they shut down for good. Past few years they been struggling due to Calgary recent downturn. Covid-19 was just the final straw. It was a great place for a hot bowl of Pho. Best in the city in my opinion. The service was friendly and great price too. I will miss this place 😢 Now a new Vietnamese restaurant is taking it's place. I wish all the best to Pho City and hope they can stand the test of time.

The restaurant and seating are basic, but the pho here is solid. Noodles are cooked just enough and the beef is cut into easy to eat, bite sized pieces. As usual, it comes with a side of bean sprouts, Thai basil, and lime wedges. Service was quick but minimal. A satisfying and enjoyable meal on a chilly evening.

Some of the best noodles I have ever had... And I have a lot of good noodles. Pho Pasteur is quite the experience; a cash only, little hole in the wall, but the food is absolutely delicious. If you like noodle soup, make some time for this place. I would bet money that you won't regret it.

A simple, low key Vietnamese restaurant serving in my opinion the best pho and bun in the city. You don't come here for the decor or the atmosphere, but you come for the simply delicious food that is consistent and never disappoints. A true gem in Chinatown. Order in or take out, you'll be happy about it. The staff and servers are so lovely as well!

This is a nice small inexpensive place. The service is not the fastest but the Pho was quite good. I had the beef and brisket medium bowl; there was a good amount of meat and the broth was quite tasty. The large bowls are big. This is a cash-only place, no cards accepted. Overall, this is a nice place to go but it's not phenomenal.

Excellent soup with fabulous service. A nice tight menu, with Pho, simple Bun and the best spring rolls in town. I've been eating here for 30 years and have never been disappointed. If I could I'd give them 6 stars.

Quite possibly the best Vietnamese place in downtown, and maybe the best I've ate at in Calgary. Lightspeed service, an extensive but affordable menu (sub $10 prices on most items), and lots of flavour. Excellent spring rolls. Note that this place accepts cash only. Also note that to pay, you'll need to go up. They won't bring the bill to your table.
