Review 500 Cucina - Calgary

Hangry in YYC
So glad I was recommended to try this restaurant. The space is open and inviting, with high ceilings and modern furnishings. The server was friendly, attentive and never made you felt rush. The food was rich and full of flavor. Most pasta dishes were ~$19 which I felt was very reasonable considering the ingredients that went in them. I will definitely be back!

Great find! This restaurant has amazing food! We wanted to try everything it was so good and the service was great. Didn’t have a chance to try the arancini because they were already sold out :( Otherwise amazing experience and the food really surprised us. We decided to order a few dishes to share family style as well which worked out good.

The service was spectacular. Felt like we were family. The food was good and was served quickly. Will be back to try more foods. Just wish they had vegan cheese for their pizza. So the pizza looks bare because there was no cheese.

Thankful to have a great Italian restaurant in Inglewood. I've visited multiple times and at different times of the day and have always had a fantastic experience. The service is great, the servers are very knowledgeable, the food is portioned well and presented nice.

Great service, great atmosphere, and great food. The drinks were good as well. I first went here because my stepmom saw it on You Gotta Eat Here, and then I came back again to bring a friend.

A great find in Inglewood. Genuine Italian dining that can accommodate gluten sensitive diners. We had sort of given up on Italian until we found Rocco's almost right outside our door. They even have a gluten free fryer, so we can have the Biftecca and parmesan fries.

Update Mar-2021: recently enjoyed a great dinner of polpette (meatballs) and focaccia, fresh and tangy sauce! Fantastic! Love the gnocchi at Scarpetta Italian Eatery in Calgary, fantastic! My favourite pizza of late is the New Yorker - delish! Friendly atmosphere and great service, I am a regular at this great Inglewood restaurant.

The pizza was really good, we ordered the veggie one and the cheese one, and the waiter was super attentive to us. Just wish they had more options workout pork !

I've had pizza from here a few times and this was our first dine in experience. I wanted to like it but we won't be going back. We ordered fries a pizza and a beer. We drank our beers and waters....and waited...and waited....and waited. Empty glasses and no pizza . One and a half hours later our pizza arrived...no sorry would you like a lemoncello....no sorry it took soooooo long. The fries were a little dry....they might have been under the heat lamp for a while. The pizza was good. But not worth 1.5 hours. They just did not care. Sad.

A real disappointment...we own a business in Inglewood and wanted to support a fellow business in the community. So, we decided to have our staff Christmas Party at 500 Cucina. We talked to the manager/owner Rocco and he said he needed a deposit ($1000) in order to save our reservation for the large group we were feeding. He said it was just to hold the reservation and that we would be reimbursed the $1000. We paid our bill for the night (which was a large bill) and as it turns out he also charged our credit card $1000 which he said was only a deposit. It is 7 months later and he still has NOT reimbursed us the "deposit" and claims it is the banks fault. Bottom line is he is dishonest and has taken advantage of good people who were willing to give him business and support a community member, only to be ripped off.

Some of the cocktails were excellent, and the appetizers, pizza and pasta are very good. They have a comfortable patio that and receives a lot of light, and live entertainment inside (on the weekends I think). I went here a couple weeks ago, then a couple days later to get the diavolina pizza and truffle mushroom appetizer because they were so delicious. Overall good experiences!

Love it! UPDATE: new chairs- fantastic. My favourites are the arincini and the 500 fries. Everything is made to order which is amazing when you have allergies or dietary concerns. Live music lends itself to create a beautiful atmosphere.

Have been here twice.Really great atmosphere and great food. Live music was also a treat. Would return to this restaurant. Good location as well.

The best Italian that you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for.
All the juices for the cocktails are made in house no wonder they are so great.
Uncompromising freshness I didn't know till I got here food items are ordered then prepared daily. No wonder their the best.
Thanks 500 Cucina

This place is really special. The pizza is absolutely to die for. The crust is nice and thin with a little bit of crisp. Perfection! Owner and staff really care about your experience. They are genuine and welcoming. I encourage everyone to stop by and try it out, it will soon be a favourite spot of yours!

The list of ingredients for the items are not exhaustive on the menu so be sure to declare any food sensitivities or allergies when prompted so you don't end up with something undesired on the plate, like I did. To prove their point, they went to the kitchen to query and brought back the menu and told me it was impossible to list all the ingredients so it was basically my fault. They did offer coffee or tiramisu as an apology but coffee in the evening doesn't really work for me! I would not recommend the penne alla pana as the chicken was quite dry and did not taste fresh. The cheese pizza and the meatballs were quite good. Service became quite slow after the complaint despite the number of open tables. Don't think I'll be returning.

This was the worst experience that I have ever had at any restaurant in Calgary. I honestly have received better service at MacDonalds.

It was a disaster from the beginning, our reservation being disregarded and ignored by the waitstaff, finally being seated in a corner table much too small for our party although there was a larger table unoccupied right next to us.

Once our food was ordered it took over 25 mins for the first pizza to arrive. The food did not arrive together despite being ordered together, what was brought out got cold while we waited for the rest.

The waiter did not even come back to the table ONCE while we were eating to ask if we were enjoying our meal.

At the end of this experience I asked to speak to the manager. The manager felt that an appropriate solution would be to offer the remaining persons left out of our party a shot of Sambuca, which seemed rather unprofessional for him to suggest this as a resolution.

The waiter had the nerve to come back and confront myself and the remaining person from our party as to why we were speaking with the manager.

Don't make the same mistake we did and waste your time and money, and take your business elsewhere - the staff here act as if they are too good to serve you, the food is mediocre and overpriced for the quality and quantity

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent warm, early summer evening on a west facing and shaded patio savouring neapolitan style pizza, caprese salad and Peroni on tap. The pizzas, a cowboy and house special, were good value at $18 each and as good as anywhere in Calgary. The salad displayed great tomatoes as to taste and appearance with a large serving of cheese in the middle of the plate . The very experienced server was excellent and he could be characterized as providing european bistro service: efficient, prompt, attentive and unobtrusive. It was understandably busy on a Tuesday evening with a following that will now be increased by two.

This place filled up quick. We can for my brother's bday dinner at 530pm and we were the first ones here within 30 mins the restaurant was packed. Service was good, calamari was great, chicken supreme had delish sauce but thought the salad that came with it could have had better dressing. Lasagna was cheesy and rich. The chocolate layered mousse cake was fantastic and recommend ordering it. I had a groupon tonight, just a caution to take a look at the bill cuz they didn't redeem the right amount off. I had to ask the waiter again and then he had to bring us a corrected bill.

Loved dining here. A very nice waiter who helped us explaining the menu. Loved the food but the price was a little on the higher side. Ambience inside the restaurant was great. Definitely will recommend to friends.

Food is atrocious and the service is somehow even worse.

The table was dirty, there was not one refill, and the food was meh. It took 48 minutes from the time I had a $14 salad appetizer till the main course came out when the restaurant was empty. No refills on my water, or my overpriced mediocre cocktail.

Servers are in their mid 30's and still can't do their job. I had to tell my date to repeat her order because I knew the server didn't catch it.

If you want good food, visit the real Cucina on Stephen ave.
Ed Sparks
Above average Italian fare. The pastas and pizzas our group enjoyed were all delicious.

The waiter was awful though. Some of the worst service I've had. He could not have cared less or had worse rapport. For a place meant to be higher end and authentic Italiano it certainly ruined the evening.

The train rattling by behind the restaurant too killed the patio ambiance.
Sovain
Man oh man. The pizza here is f@$ked up good. Can't believe it. The Cowgirl pizza is unbelievable. They could call it the Oompaloompa pizza and I wouldn't care. It is, and I'm not kidding, one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. Wow! The crust. The Porchetta. Arugula, a squeeze of lemon ....
Fill this place...but, please, save me a seat.
Hungry Hungry Hippos
One of the best spots for pasta in the city. My favourite is the gnocchi. I love the ambience and will have to come back when it's nice out so I can try the patio.

Cute lunch spot in inglewood. The service is great and the food is overall decent. Not sure if I would be in a hurry to come back. Calamari was quite battered with a smokey dipping sauce. The meatballs were delicious and had a ton of flavor. The pizza was okay. Definitely better at cibo or other "like" restaurants. It was nearly impossible to eat as it was hard to cut. I got a glimpse of the caprese salad and would definitely order it if I came back again.

Got a GC here as a gift, so we made our first visit. So glad we did! Fantastic experience starting right from the cocktails. Cibo is usually at the top of our list for more casual Italian and pizza, but this is our new favourite! The crust is very thin, but amazingly crispy all the way to the center! We had the Rochetta with arugala and truffle oil. They were very generous with the toppings. We also had the meatballs and the funghi tartufo (sauteed mushrooms with toasted foccacia). These were also delicious. I would have a hard time trying some thing else next time just bc we liked them so much. I had to add a bit of salt to my my tagliatelle alla panna, but once I did, it was perfect. The icing on the cake was our server though. Redheaded Swedish man. He was very attentive given it was packed that night and was well educated on the menu and made excellent recommendations. We'll be back soon!

Not a huge fan of the restaurant. The server tried to up sale every dish and even water. The food is pretty pricey and only mediocre for what you pay for. In my opinion, there are better Italian restaurants in the city that you can easily check out and get better quality food.
Melinda Lombardo
We came for a birthday dinner and the food was delicious! Pizza and pasta were very good and we were given tirimasu for the occasion. However, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth from the service. We waited a long time for our drinks and even longer to get our order taken. Our drink and food items were constantly given to the wrong people, and when it came it came time for our bill we waited even longer to pay. At this point there was only one larger table seated in our area and the waiters were aware we were waiting with our coats on and we're busy wiping up empty tables and hanging by the bar at 8:30. We finally had to find and walk over to our waitress to request the machine. Food was delicious but considering the unfriendly service I won't be rushing back.

Had lunch at 500 Cucina today. The steak sandwich was tasteless and horrible service from the male server. Just a note to bring a jacket and keep it on while you are eating here.

We tried this place for the first time. We ordered the pizza (quartoformaggi) and pasta (gnocchi). Pizza was really good! Pasta was just okay, I was not a fan of the sauce, felt it didn't have much flavor. Service was very slow...Food took over 45 to come out, I guess because it was really busy.

What a fantastic meal at 500 Cucina!!! The food is delicious, especially the Triple Pig-Sequel Pizza. This is a modern authentic Italian eatery with heart warming rustic food served with passion! This is La Dolce Vita!!!
Mandy
Our waiter was maybe a little too anxious to serve us seeing as he checked to see if we were ready to order every two minutes and never cracked a smile but other than that the service was good. There was live music that night and the food was yummy.

Great meal with coworkers here! I had the tomato gnocchi, coworkers had the veggie sandwich and the margherita pizza. All loved our meals. Service was friendly, our reservation was honored on time. I saw many things on the menu that I would like to try.

I used to work right above 500 Cucina and so I've had quite a few meals there.
The Chefs are the friendliest guys in Inglewood, the place is great both for lunch and dinner, and they even have a nice patio if you want to have some wine in the afternoon while you perfect your tan!
Food wise, everything I've had was delicious: be it the Caprese Salad, the Gnocchis (both options are good), the Triple Pig Pizza (their 2014 YYC Pizza Week entry reviewed on my bloc) or the Arancinis... totally good place for a romantic dinner, and you may even catch a concert if you go there the right evening!

We went to this restaurant when it wasn't busy the service was horrible. When we asked where her food was after 40 minutes or server snapped at us and said that it was on its way. He then came back a few minutes later and apologize for being rude because you realize we had been waiting a very long time for our food. He did not come to check on us afterwards. The food was OK but the service on its own is a reason why I will never return.
KnitClub
Great restaurant, our server was very knowledgable & the food was amazing. I would recommend The Arancini balls & Rochetta pizza. Charcuterie plate was good but could use another sauce and a softer cheese.
Sharon
I came here a few months ago and the experience was average. We ordered a pizza, pasta and truffle fries. you could not taste the truffle at all on the fries, the pizza was ok, but i didn't like the crust much and the pasta was a bit soggy and the sauce was super heavy. I heard mix reviews and thought i would try for myself. I wouldn't mind coming back to give it another try.

Best pizza. This is THE BEST PIZZA in town for anybody who know Italy.... it is the real deal OMG I want more and more.

Will not go back - very poor Gluten-Free awareness. We just went to 500 Cucina for the first time on Mother's Day 2015. My daughter and I both have Celiac so we asked what they had that is Gluten Free. They were able to accommodate us with a Gluten Free Pizza (which my daughter had) and a Chicken Dish (which I had). My son had Pizza as well but he is able to have a regular pizza.

When they brought out the Pizzas the crusts looked exactly the same on both of the Pizzas. I said to the waitress that my daughter's pizza didn't look like it was Gluten Free as it looked exactly like my son's. She had no idea so took my daughter's back to the kitchen. She then came back and said they were making a new one. She did not apologize for the mistake, just said the kitchen didn't get her information that one was suppose to be Gluten Free.

My son, my husband and I all ate our dinners while my daughter waited for hers, as our dinners would have gotten cold if we waited for hers. The Chef came out and gave my daughter her pizza (which looked 100% different than a regular pizza as the regular crust has a bubbly high looking crust and a gluten free crust is very thin).

We assumed the restaurant would apologize and at least take off the cost of her pizza since it was their mistake but they did not. We were charged full price.

We will not be returning to this restaurant because they did not apologize for the mistake, were very casual about the mistake (even though we explained we have Celiac Disease and not just gluten intolerant) and did nothing to compensate us for their mistake. If I had not noticed the crusts were exactly the same and questioned it my daughter would have eaten the pizza and then been sick.

Probably won't go back, so sad after 4 visits. We had dinner reservations at this place and right from the start the waiter seemed to be hurried. Special ribs were ordered and one serving was decidedly more sizeable than the other. One would think being on the same table they should look the same size. The gnocchi was incredibly spicy and one guest did not enjoy the meal at all and the only thing the wait staff could say was they usually add a bit of red chili for flavor. This was too much chili for enhancing flavor. The waiter actually took a knife out of another guests hand as she was finishing her dinner. She placed the fork on her plate and he grabbed up the knife then left without letting anyone ask a question. Had to ask for a cola twice and I had to ask three times for a coffee black before it finally came. the waiter then reached around behind a guest to remove their water glass without even asking if they were finished.
To finally cap my disappointment was when the bill was presented and we were sitting enjoying our conversation over the loud live but nice music. Three times the waiter approached the table with the machine for payment even though I was clearly not indicating I was ready to deal with the bill. the third time he approached I put my hand on the bill folder and looked directly at him and asked if they had some sort of time limit on the table because I did indeed felt like I was being rushed out the door. I paid the bill and gave a 15% tip because I do not want to be thought of as vindictive but in the end, I am the disappointed customer who with three other guests will likely not return to this place again.

This is one of my favorite restaurants, we rented out the whole restaurant last year for my birthday, that was my first experience at Cucina 500 and I've been in love with it ever since. The food is amazing. We had my birthday there again this year and dinner there again a month later for a friends birthday. Our dinner parties there are always extremely enjoyable. The staff are always eager to help and are very friendly. We have pretty much sampled the entire menu and I have nothing but great things to say about the food, everything is delicious! I will be returning again and again.

This is an amazing Italian restaurant. In fact it is the best Pizza pasta and appetizers in the whole city for Italian food. It has amazing service that you can't criticize. If you have children and you are looking for a nice restaurant to dine at this is what you are looking for. I have been to this restaurant several times and the service has been amazing each time. It also has the best Italian in probably all of Calgary. It is real Italian food not jersey food.

Dinner. I don't normally comment on sites but I feel obligated to do so this time because the other 2 people at the table had comments and I did book the reservation. Anyway, we found it extremely smokey, it was as thought the exhaust fans weren't working properly in the kitchen. We left smelling like a grill and we were seated at the far end (back) of the restaurant. The waiter wasn't very good. He made a couple of errors such as removing the plates from the table before everyone was finished their meal and removing our wine glasses without asking if we wanted another drink. It felt like we were being pushed out. No cream for coffee? Who doesn't offer cream as an option with your Americano. The waiter brought diluted whipping cream.
The food was pretty good but by no means awesome and the atmosphere was good.

Dinner. Was not impressed with the steak at Cucina 500. Spent a lot of money , 2 out of 5 meals were exceptable. Never asked once how my meal was. Do not know how to cook a steak and pizza wasn't that great either. Will never go back and don't recommend. Left my number with a manager, and was never called back

Better Italian. Went to "Cinque Cento" with my wife for dinner. A great experience. Great pizza. Good Calamari and Arancini
Will go back soon. I Recommend this restaurant.

My boyfriend and I had never actually dined in the inglewood area before. We decided to try this 500 cucina place because it looked so nice outside and in. But it was the worst service we have ever experienced! Our food had arrived barely warm! And our glasses of water sat on our table for the entire time we were there when a table near by with 2 women had several visits from the waiter. We had to wave a waitress down to get water eventually. After finishing our cold and dry pizzas and no one came to clear our plates or anything so we could ask for the bill and leave, we left the money on the table and left. It was at that point where our waiter finally spoke to us. He wanted us to wait while he counted the money. "Good enough guys, bye" was what he ended up saying to us. We were relieved to leave and made a decision we will never come back.

Worst dinner in Inglewood. As residents of Inglewood we often support local business. When this restaurant opened we visited it 3 times always with mixed feelings. Either the service was bad or the food was lacklustre. After a very long break we finally decided to give it another try tonight. By far and away the most disappointing visit.... We ordered the zambucca prawns which we had always previously enjoyed, they were not fully cooked and you could taste neither the fennel or the zambucca. We asked to return them and they offered to make us another round. We requested an order of bread with the second round and when both arrived the bread while toasted was cold and the prawns were still bland and underdone. We did not finish either. We ordered a pizza to share as our main and it was in fact really good. The house made pork sausage had excellent flavour and spice. When the waitress returned to check on us we told her that the pizza was fantastic but we were really disappointed with the prawns and toast. Both my husband and I are business owners in Calgary and would always prefer to have negative feedback than no feedback and no repeat business so we felt that sharing our feelings was the right thing to do. The end result of the evening was that we received the bill for both the prawns we didn't finish and the cold toast. This was our last visit to this local business.

Nice restaurant, average food, poor service.. Service: I was there with a group of 10 - granted the place was packed with other large groups, but our server became increasingly agitated throughout the night for some reason. He did not pour our wine except for at the beginning of the service, we waited for over an hour for food (and when it did arrive, one person's order was missing), requests for cutlery were not fulfilled and our drinks were empty for a large portion of the meal. Our large group meant there was an automatic gratuity of 18% but if I had the choice there would have been very little tip.

Food: Average at best. Nothing outstanding about any of our meals. I would not have paid that much if I knew what was coming.

Atmosphere: The place is very modern and aesthetics are great. The bar looked to have a smaller selection than others, but it did not impact our drink choices throughout the night.

A pleasant place. A salad, pizza and wine with friends much enjoyed in this pleasant place. My only complaint was the limited wine list and even a couple of those wines were not available. Nice pizza, not Italian, but nice. I miss good pizza but this will do until i get back to Europe. Service was good, nicely timed and friendly. Price not unreasonable. Good atmosphere.

Lack of attitude, poor service, poor management.
had a date night and reserved a table for two for dinner. the staff does not care about reservation and gives seats at the bar for couples and keep tables for bigger groups (profit is more important). (their bar is a line of chairs facing the wall with kitchen equipment (mostly ovens).very romantic!).the night was ruined.
I tried to explain that I booked a table for dinner not seats at a bar for a quick drink. no luck. the manager advised to came back next time. Kidding?
just need to add they can seat 154 people and 605 were empty.
500 cucina= place not to go #1

Amazing food and beautiful setting. Love going to Cucina, always greeted with such great staff and service. The food hands down is one of the best in the city for Italian the owners and chef take total pride in everything they do! Everything on the menu is amazing! To top if off listening to Angie Hills and Aaron Young makes the experience so beautiful! Great date night :)

I recommend all my friends and family there!

Great Sunday Night. My girl-friend took me to this incredible place last night for my birthday dinner. It was more than I ever imagined! The food was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive! The food was to die for and it was the best Italian food we have ever eaten in Calgary!! Better than Little Italy in NYC and we have tried several places down there!! Emily and the italian chef Joe took amazing care of us and was very friendly and thanked us for coming.
Can't wait to get back again to eat here and share this restaurant with our friends and family!!And the deserts were amazing and very delicious ....

Visited November 2014

Slooooowwww. Omg so so slow. Pick it up people. On top of that mediocre food for premium prices. Never again.

Not worth the money. Not impressed with the service or food. Had 2 staff on and although restaurant not busy at all it took us waving them down to get service. Our server showed up at beginning of main course to check on us and that was it. He also failed to remove the large dirty appetizer plates the whole meal. We ordered the mussels & french fries as an appetizer, lasagna to share and "organic salad". My french fries were the best part of the meal which says something. Food not horrible but lacking flavour for sure. 22$ for their mediocre sized lasagna dish seemed steep, especially since it was 5 out of 10. Numerous other places I would have rather spent my 100+ dollars at.

Fresh food. We visited 500 Cucina for a quick working lunch and were both impressed with the food and location. My gnocchi was fresh and plentiful, with a nice bite and just the right amount of tomato sauce and shaved parmesan. They also have a good selection of interesting non-alcoholic drinks like minted ice tea and pear juice. Our server was great too. I'd definitely go back.

Previously I have only stopped in here for a drink and ended up staying all night! Cute little restaurant with very friendly staff and an awesome bartender! Recently I ordered from them through skipthedishes. The portions were a bit small and they were overpriced. However, the flavours were really good. I really enjoyed the truffle mushrooms though it was quite expensive.

Thoughtfully preapred and tasty food. I have been three times and 500 Cucina is a tasty treat each time. This week I had the Arancini and a Caprese salad with shrimp. Both were tremendous. The Caprese was among the best Iv'e ever had with lovely ripe tomatoes, oily garlicky dressing and a huge blob of fior de latte. Very good value with food quality much higher than a basic chain resto but about the same pricing.

Amazing Food. Went here on a Tuesday evening because they had $5 glasses of wine! That part turned out to be a disappointment because the wine glasses were not even half full.
Anyways, the food that we ordered was delicious!!! Both the pizza and the pasta were amazing! I will definitely going back to try more items on the menu. Great atmosphere and awesome food!
Shaunna
Disappointment. I found the food mediocre and overpriced the pasta menu was three kinds of pasta with the same sauces and the pizza crust was soggy in the middle and burnt on the sides. We were there on a Saturday and the live music was good but that's it. The night we were there of the five meat dishes they did not have three of them only had a $30 chicken and an over priced ribeye. Don't go there if you want good Italian food this is not the place for that.
Denisedignum
I think this is a real gem. I have eaten half a dozen times at this lovely Ingelwood spot. The food has been uniformly delicious and well presented. The service has been friendly and prompt. The live music on Saturday nights is a real bonus. I'm not sure why this restaurant isn't busier.

Inglewood Gem!. I don't normally take my 19 month old daughter out for diner, however my parents were in town and they wanted to take the family out for a nice meal. I've been meaning to try this place since it opened and I noticed the front sign said families...so I thought I woud give it a try. What a fabulous family friendly resturant, although it looks very modern, they were very children friendly, with available high chairs and small orders of pasta for the kids. Not only that but the open kitchen allowed my daughter to interact with the Chefs - who went out of there way to come say hi to my little girl and let her watch them as they cooked. The food was amazing, and the service was wonderful. I can't wait to have a date night , without the babe, to truely enjoy this little italian gem in Inglewood!

Modern hip feel resto w authentic Italian food. Hard to find in Calgary. Great service & atmosphere (they had a live band too) Had the prawns to start & the gnocchi, both were cooked to perfection. Highly recommended for a fun night out.

Do not eat here please. Although the food is good, the owners are crooks. If a staff member moves on to work elsewhere they never receive there final pay. Several staff members have had to come In and eat and drink then run out the front door just to get some of what's owed to them. Food friends family is there sign out front but the last two r bull. Please do not support this place. If staff are not happy imagine what they may or may not do to your meals. In the past I wrote a good review but now I know how they operate I must retract my initial review. It's a shame because it has potential but you can't treat staff poorly and be successful

-----18 May, 2014-----

Great Experience. If you do not give this restaurant a try you are truly missing out. The owners and staff work as a team and truly believe in what they are trying to accomplish. That is to give authentic Italian taste right here in Calgary. Some staff are new but the enthusiasm and knowledge of the dishes and wine are exceptional. I have traveled and dined at many fine places and I can absolutely unequivocally say that you will enjoy your experience here. I suggest sporty casual for attire. ENJOY !!!

Had a great night at 500! The food was excellent (try the Burrata and tiger prawns). Atmosphere was energetic and service was great. Thanks again

Wonderful. Had a wonderful evening with my niece. Service was excellent, our food was delicious and hot and the courses were spaced well. The server was attentive but not intrusive and when we finally left we realized they were closed and had just let us keep visiting. My mouth is watering as I remember my meal. So incredible...

Canadian Business Chick Event. We have been fortunate to have stumbled upon this new great spot in the heart of historic Inglewood through a mutual friends. The Cucina 500 team is a pleasure to work with! From the moment you walk through the door of this modern eatery with a fantastic open kitchen you will quickly understand the owners live and breath the Cucina core values...friends, family, and food. We have popped in just to say hello for a quick meeting mid afternoon and hosted events for our community of women. The food is fresh, tastey and definitley a favorite desitination! Looking forward to our upcoming events at Cucina!

Lunchtime in Inglewood. Was there today for a business lunch.......not too busy so service was very good, food dishes of prawn starter and pasta special were right sized for lunch and delicious.
The fresh ice tea was a nice change from whats offered at other establishments as was the Americano coffee.
Looking forward to revisit with my wife for supper.

Authentic Italian food. We went to Cinquecento last night for our first time and had the prawn's, pasta Arrabiata, and the Salsiccia pizza, with a nice bottle of Primitivo . We have food allergies (nuts and citrus fruit) and can be demanding customers, but our allergies were considered and handled without any problems, as everything was made fresh and on site. The service was friendly and considerate. What struck us was that the food was really authentic Italian, like it would taste in Italy. The ingredients all had this aspect of freshness and ripeness, which was amazing for Calgary in sprinter (spring-winter) they were really good smelling and tasting. The pasta was really done to perfection and the crust on the pizza was thin but crisp and with a slight hint of sweetness (if you're a thin crust fan it was awesome!) The live music was a great touch and not so loud that you couldn't talk, we will go again.

Superb Dining!. I have been to Cinquecento a number of times. From the pasta dishes to the meat and seafood plates, the food was always excellent. Service is consistently friendly and prompt. The decor is a harmonious blend of modern chic and old world rustic charm. As an added special treat, on the weekends, enjoy romantic classical guitar performers or dj music.

Cinquecento is definitely a place for not just tasty food, but for a great experience!

Great restaurant. I have eaten here quite a few times as I always find the food excellent. I have tried a number of items on the menu and have enjoyed them all. The atmosphere is nice and modern and the location is great. I have found the servers to be friendly and attentive. I have read that some people have had bad experiences at the restaurant but it is new and worth another try. Nothing is perfect but I quite enjoy 500 Cucina and will be back many times!

The food was fine; this is unfortunately a scathing review of the service.
-server seemed as though she could not care less
-we had to grab her attention for additional drinks
-could not grab her attention to take our payment and took it up ourselves
-for most of our meal we were the only ones seated in the restaurant!

Was there this morning for brunch with my bf and another couple. While the boys were delighted with their breakfast pizzas, my friend and I ordered Italian French Toast and both left still hungry. Remember, Cucina: if you're going to serve brunch (breakfast + lunch) there needs to be a significant amount of food. Two pieces of bread for $14 did not do the trick. An egg and some fruit would have gone a long way.

Wouldn't bother.... The basics guys, wine glass dirty and soap stained, entrees for a table of two served 5mins apart, pizza crust soggy in the middle. These are things most chain restaurants can get right, this place missed the mark.

Love it!. Amazing server, wonderful wine selection, and incredible pizza. Not to mention, I am celiac, and the gluten free crust they prepared was one of the best I've ever had. A nice modern atmosphere, with unique art placed everywhere (make sure and check out the bathrooms). Great location, and a perfect price for the quality you're getting! I would absolutely recommend this place.

Amazing. The best pizza and the best cafe latte in Calgary. I like how I can sit at the bar and the chefs create right in front of me with nothing to hide. Great selection on the menu for lunch and dinner and a fantastic wine list. My friends and I love the atmosphere and the casual live entertainment. Rocco and Gennaro (the proprietors) make you feel welcome and like part of the family.

Must try.... Amazing. I have been to Cinquencento Cucina a few times now and it never disappoints. The food is out of this world amazing. My first visit was for a girls night and we are still talking about the fries. The live music on the weekends is equally amazing. I was there when Dan Arnold was playing. The entire staff is extremely friendly, especially Gennaro and Rocco. The open kitchen is a great concept!!

Outstanding! I will be back, actually I have been pack before I could even get a review up. I went to 500 Cucina for the first time with a group of a dozen women I had never met before for a Canadian Business Chicks function. The service was fantastic, I was never without wine, or more importantly tequila. I had the Gnocchi with creme sauce for dinner and it was fabulous. We were there on a Saturday night so there was a gentleman playing guitar in the background. It was the perfect volume, loud enough so you felt like the place was the best kept secret in town and gentle enough as not to disrupt dinner conversation with new friends. We felt like family by the time we left we were on a first name basis with the executive chefs Rocco and Gennaro. I couldn't have planned a more perfect experience if I had picked every detail myself. If you are looking for the most important three F's all under one roof, 500 Cucina is the place to be...food, friends and family.

Have been here many times. .... Have been here many times.
Have been delighted every one of them!
Being run by the owners and being honoured by the owners is a magic way this restaurant is operated!
The food is extraordinary, the service is equally so and the need to return is easily indulged.
Few if any restaurants in town have such a wonderful appeal.

Superb. Love this Italian place! Not only is the food good! The atmosphere is a happy positive one as well as staff are friendly? Entertainment evenings on the weekend is the perfect touch. I believe this is my fav!

Great Food, Great Service, Amazing Atmosphere!. I have visited 500 Cucina several times now and have been very impressed with the quality of the food, service and atmosphere. Their menu includes a broad variety of choices, has gluten-free friendly options and excellent wine pairings. All of the staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and accomodating and the restaurant has an awesome vibe overall. To top it all off, 500 Cucina is an avid supporter of live music in Calgary and showcases a feature artist each week, which provides a beautiful addition to the overall ambience of the restaurant. The owners are vibrant and forward-thinking and are extremely passionate about 500 Cucina. I definitely give 500 Cucina 2 very big thumbs up!.

-----03 Mar, 2014-----

Great Vibes, Great Food, Great Music, Forward Thinking. Awesome Food! Awesome Staff!. I have eaten at Cinquecento Cucina a handful of time and am always very impressed! If not by the amazing food and staff (service) but they have a great wine list and live music on the weekends! A must try!

Enjoyed dinner here this past Saturday evening and was pleasantly surprised that this lovely Italian restaurant has local live music every Saturday evening!
The food was delicious. We enjoyed the most amazing prawns ever and for our main meal my hubby barely spoke to me as he enjoyed his ribeye steak. I selected the feature, grilled halibut and it exceeded my expectations!
The server was friendly, attentive and knowledgable
The entire evening was a delight and will most definitely be back over and over!

Real Italian cuisine created by real Italians!. I love this restaurant, the food is amazing and fresh! The prices are reasonable and the food has been expertly cooked by two amazing Italians. The owners are fun and have created a very homey and fresh space that also speaks to their heritage. The staff are friendly and attentive, the beverage selections, deserts, mains and apps all reflect a love for Italian cuisine that is well prepared and presented. Each time I visit this restaurant I am treated as an old friend, personally this combined with the fresh amazing food and great atmosphere make it a favorite restaurant to visit.

My fave dish here but so many it's hard to choose

-----11 Mar, 2014-----

Go on a Tuesday they have $5 wine and it's really good too.

-----03 Mar, 2014-----

Looking for a secret gem in Calgary to have a great dinner with your friends? I found it here, and I have to admit I'm hesitant to post this because I enjoy this restaurant so much I would prefer it was kept a secret!
But once again I had such a good experience tonight I just have to share.
Food is fantastic, price is fair, and service is decent. I love it's just out of the dt core (inglewood is so cool) but its the atmosphere that really brings everything together!
Again, calgarys new gem!!

Service, Medicore Food - Dine elsewhere. Had a Travelzoo deal for this place, so decided to check it out.
The deal was for 2 mimosas and 2 entrees, but when our server approached us, she told us we could order anything off the menu and they would apply the value of the voucher ($52) to the bill. So, we ordered 2 coffees, 2 paninis and a margharita pizza (which would have been a total of $50.70, pretax and auto gratuity). When the bill came, they charged us for the margarita pizza and only discounted the bill $36.70 for the paninis and the coffee, despite us acting on the server's advice and ordering to the value of the deal.
The only other server on duty came over to tell us that the deal didn't allow for what we had done and that it was our misunderstanding of the server's comment- thought our server didn't deny the interpretation she gave us. They didn't offer any solutions and so, we paid $15 extra for what should've been included in our deal. We weren't sure what exactly the deal included, so we asked the server - turns out in this instance, clarifying hurts!

The panini's were bland and the whole experience took much longer than you would think for lunch (2 hours and a bit) due to slow service.

Autgrat was 15%, but based on the service- slow, poor- we wouldn't have tipped that much (despite the billing issue).

Crazy good breakfast pizza (and regs pizza). Brisket jalapeno egg. Perfect crust. Totally beats Inglewood Pizza and WOP.

Excellent food and service. We went for our first time and everything was excellent. The gnocchi is terrific, the meatballs are perfectly cooked and flavourful. We didn't wait long for our appetizers, the 500 fires are great and they don't overwhelm it with truffle oil. The wine list is nicely varied, we will definitely come again!!!

Great Food / Bad Service. I have been here a few times and have always enjoyed the food and Service .
This time I was far past disappointed with the complete ignorance of the Server HE was awful .
Never came back to check on us . Luckily Melanie was nice enough to get us some more wine and our bill . She even offered us a free glass on her as we had our empty glasses at the edge of the table for a good 15 mins...

Burger and fries were terrific I may go back but I will be sure to ask for Melanie!

Two Thumbs Down. I was taken to the Cinquecento Cucina in Inglewood for my birthday dinner. Both friends had been their before, The server was polite, but distant and cold. When I asked her for coffee she said there wasn't any but could give me a cappacino instead. We found the salad had little to no dressing. We all had the same main dish of riggatoni, ground lamb and measured out amount of sauce. The portions were very tiny for $20, We were all sorry we ordered it. The music overhead was too loud for our conversation, this was very disturbing being hearing impaired. The biggest insult of all was when we stood up to leave the guy cleaning our table asked if we had paid. Never again..

Amazing! Defiantly recommend the chef's selection as they sure know what they're doing. Every bite was delicious

An Italian Gem. We have visited 500 Cucina on more than one occasion had a wonderful food and service each time. The appetizer fries are fantastic by the way. A group of us went in for a weekend lunch and we let Gen, the chef, select the dishes including the desserts. A great way to go if you want to be guided through a great meal with lots of variety.

Would we go back - absolutely!!
Would we recommend to friends? - no question and have done so!!
Price point - very good value for money and the food is excellent
Service - lots of fun and we have been treated very well.
Decor - clean crisp lines in a modern atmosphere

Tasty!. Went there for lunch, the restaurant wasn't busy at all. We ordered the oyster mushrooms, and the quattro stagioni pizza - both excellent! The chef sent complimentary sambuca prawns and 500 fries to our table which were both great - very nice of the chef!

Great Steak & Great times. I had my birthday party there on Saturday Nov 23/13 the food, the staff and the chefs were first class! I recommend this place on a daily basis to my friends and family. I have tried brunch, lunch and dinner and it was always a top notch journey into italian flavor!

Pleasant Surprise!!. Went last Friday with a friend who was reluctant to venture out from her favorite DT hangouts. We decided to check out Cinquecento Cucina in Inglewood. Arrived at 8:30 and it was not to busy. We ended up ordering the Chef's choice for two and Melanie our hostess recommended the wine. We were both very impressed with the service and the food (quality and quantity). Only a matter of time before this place becomes a Calgary hotspot.
Ps. Went back yesterday (Tuesday), the Rib eye and the Burrata Cheese appetizer were both exceptional. Worth the drive!

The first time we came here we were impressed with the food but not with our waiter who ditched out halfway through our meal and didn't bother to tell us. The second time we waited forever for drinks and food and once again had terrible service. The restaurant gave us a gift certificate in order to keep our business so we tried it again last night and the third time was certainly not a charm. There were only 6 tables that were full in the restaurant and our waiter cared more about texting and socializing with other wait staff than serving us. We had to ask for pepper, water and extra cheese which he never brought. The owner did his best to make up for it but that was too little, too late. We won't be back to this local Inglewood restaurant.

I love the pasta and the cheese cake they where amazing I love the presentation.

First time in- heard good things. Food was terrific! Caprese salad was fresh and calamari and tagliatelle were delicious. Tiramisu- yum! Our server Dave was hilarious! Lots of fun- highly recommended.

Came in today for lunch for my first time. Had the tagliatelle and the chef changed the mushroom to roasted red pepper for me. Delicious! And decent price for a lunch menu. Definitely will come back :)
Hermotis
They don't lick the lollipop. The gnocchi should be applauded.

It was a lovely night of great food. Everything is made fresh and you can watch the cooks in the open kitchen from your table. After recently spending a month in Europe, this restaurant reminds me of the European dinning experience. Expect to take your time and be treated to great food and drinks . Staff is very friendly and even one of the owners came to visit our table. The calamari was a highlight for me .

Meh!. The place is nice... Lots of windows, nice decoration and nice atmosphere. The food, wasn't that great. Fries were over cooked. The pasta was greasy. and my friend's lasagna was odd tasting. Should of went to Chianti's for pasta night...
