The eggs benny are great here but sad that they only make it on weekends. I could not believe the menu on line, it is a picture of the menu which you cannot even read what is on it . Would be nice if it was readable.
Such a gem! Stumbled upon this lovely place while in the area. We had the huevos rancheros (so good). Fresh squeezed OJ & coffee were great too. Cool retro vibe and great brunch/lunch menu. You order up at the counter and the food is served at your table. Loved the neighboruhood diner feel and will definitely be back!
Awesome coffee (badass coffee art!) and super friendly staff. We had breakfast here and it was the standard diner menu. The portions were generous and very filling. Cute little neighborhood too.
Must have timed our arrival perfectly as we were able to find a seat (at the bar, mind you). We successfully navigated the menu for a gluten-friendly, dairy-friendly order and it was delicious. Service was excellent - friendly and efficient. Would love to see more gluten-friendly/non-dairy options (toast maybe?) on the menu but we survived just fine. Coffee was fresh and tasty!
A lovely spot for meeting friends for coffee & brunch. All the dishes I've true have been amazing. There's a variety of food to please everyone. Glad to have discovered it after newly moving to Bowness.

Really good coffee, service is friendly, and what I have had of the food is great.
It's tough to get a seat in here, with it being on the smallish side and a popular spot on the weekends, whenever we have gone to try it as a family, we have had no luck and had to abandon our plans. That said, I have stopped there to meet friends or by myself for coffee and been able to snag a seat at the ledge table by the window to have a quick bite - my fav being the Mini w/ avacado on these occasions (not an option when we have the kiddo in tow) or grab some of the predone baking items to go and I have not been disappointed yet. I look forward to being able to have better timing one of these days and sit down to a full meal!
Update - finally got to swing an actual sit down breakfast here and it was everything I dreamed it would be. I had the Pacific Benny, my boyfriend had the Classic, and we both really enjoyed our choices. The smoked salmon was perfect, as was his back bacon (apparently, I can't eat it :( ) As usual, the staff was terrific as was the coffee. We even had a glass of the fresh squeezed OJ this time as well. Perfect little Sunday breakfast date!

An eclectic, efficient, and memorable breakfast & lunch diner: simply order, take a number, find a seat, eat and be merry! I'm partial to their sandwiches (love that they offer sprouts as greens), salsa, and regular joe coffee. One of these days I will splurge/let myself go and get dessert there...
LOVE THIS PLACE. We absolutely love this joint! Nothing fancy. Almost like a greasy spoon, but the staff is friendly, efficient and just pretty much awesome. We have been here for breakfast a handful of times and are starting to make it our weekend brunch location. Fair warning that space is limited and it can get busy. Great menu items, coffee is stellar and the food is served up fast, hot and delicious. I recommend this place to anyone who asks about good breakfast locations.

Lunch is always great. Been a few times for lunch and always had a good meal. Staff are friendly, food is good, lattes are great (and they're NOT Starbucks!), and the baking is fantastic!! Not close to where I live, but well worth the drive on a day off!
New Regular. Cadence has become my home away from home. I can always rely on a good meal, friendly staff....and the only decent flat white in town!
Friendly energetic and helpful staff. Food was fantastic. Great burger. My picky 2 year old nephew loved the grilled cheese. Overall fantastic find, I must try and go back for the breakfast.
Yummiest Americano!. This place is no easy trek, for those not acquainted, or close, to this neighbourhood. But the coffee is good (JJ Bean from Vancouver) if you ever find yourself in the neighbourhood. Try an espresso-based drink. There are a few goodies about and the menu's not half bad.
Its.. Ok.. Over rated. Coffee and pastries are good, but the breakfasts are way over priced and nothing special. Omlette was small with minimal fillings . Potatoes are dry. I wouldn't pay for breakfast there again. Go to diner deluxe... The best!
Delicious!. Ordered one of the soup specials - roasted red pepper and tomato. It was delicious - homemade rich flavour. And the garlic bread.....yum!

I had the tuna melt and espresso con pana. They were both excellent. Good wifi and service with an atmosphere to go along. Prices are a bit high but its worth it. Would recommend to anyone.
Cool coffee joint. Great muffins, sandwiches, breakfast, lunch and oh yah.....coffee. This is a great meeting place, lots of room, great eats and drinks. The place feels real and fun. The meals are a bit pricey but stick to the basic coffee house stuff and you won't be disappointed.

Great food and fantastic coffee. We have been eating at Cadence for over 10 years and have never once had a bad meal. We have over the years taken many people with us to enjoy the amazing coffee. The atmosphere is casual but energetic and the staff have always been friendly. The food is great and the very reasonably priced with some of the best coffee in Calgary.

Simply, I just find this place perfect to sit down for a short time and have something to eat. Prices may have been a bit on the high side for certain things but not too bad.
Sunday Brunch. I come in every Sunday I am able for not only the Eggs Benny (which is delicious) but the charming and scintillating conversations I have with the young lady in glasses. The customer service is spot- on, and the girls ensured that I have enjoyed every visit.
I hope the owner of Cadence takes the previous comments from it's customers seriously. You can't win (or even successful these days if you don't offer exceptional customer service. Get on it if I built a diner across the road in the vacant building I would bs sure to grab onto the most important quality in the service industry and kick your butt without a doubt. Decide what the customer experience looks like for each and every customer who made the choice to eat at your diner...and hire the type of people that have solid service skills. I won't seriously recommend your business to anyone until the day comes that your staff attitude is seriously improved.
Good coffee, good sandwich, good cookie!. Stopped in for a quick lunch today. Had a fantastic BLT, large coffee and chocolate chip cookie. Lots of other options as far as sandwiches and all priced relatively well. Will definitely be back. Salads looked great too!
Food was ok I had the Greek wrap I liked the salty olives with the chicken. However the nacho chips were stale, I don't think I would go out of my way to. Re visit.
Great rich/strong coffe and free refills with your brunch. Portions are good. Food tastes great! My omelette was chalk full of my chosen veggies. Toast was thick sliced and hot!
A hidden gem. Simply put, I love this quaint little place!! Located on the Bowness Rd "strip", its not calling out for attention so you may miss it if you're looking the wrong way.
I haven't been disappointed yet! The staff are friendly, they take your order and get you a nice hot coffee while grab your own table and wait with your "flag" The food is fresh and tasty with everything coming out in a timely manner. The Eggs Bennie (my staple!) is done just as you ask - mine, the center yolks soft and the sauce is a velvety compliment that isn't over powering or overbearing. Delicious!!
I live on the other side of town, and try to make my way down at least once a month to enjoy a homey breakfast.
If you're looking for an unpretentious diner style brunch in a casual setting, I highly recommend it....it's definitely worth the drive!
"Superfine coffee" is right!. We very much enjoyed our first breakfast at Cadence Coffee in Bowness.
The latte I had was the best ever.
Our breakfast was very good. Another review mentioned small portions - I look at it as reasonable, not super-sized portions. My husband loved his Eggs Benedict. My eggs over-medium with toast and fruit was a perfect, simple breakfast.
The decor is funky diner, not elegant by any means, but very comfortable.
And that coffee - it's like an out-of-body experience. Superfine.

One of the best cafes in town.. Though new to Calgary, I'm a fairly obsessive coffee drinker, and a real lover of small "neighbourhood"-style cafes... not out of any hate for corporate chains, but mostly because I find the independent ones strive to provide better quality products in order to stay competitive.
This sentiment is very true for Cadence. Portions for all meals are large, and everything is fresh-made to order with quality ingredients. The food is neither oily nor greasy, and the coffee they serve is both organic and fair trade (and from a good micro-roaster to boot).
Though they have a very comprehensive menu, I will admit that I go mostly for their breakfasts, which I am happy to say is served all day. They have a great selection of healthy (and not so healthy) options, as well as a huge variety of in-house baked pies and assorted goodies.
If I have any complaint, it is that their opening hours leave a lot to be desired. Though they do open early, their kitchen closes at only 3pm, and the whole place shuts down by 4pm! While I realize this is a neighbourhood cafe, surely they would see some business in the evenings - at least enough to justify keeping some nice coffee brewing?

Good quality food, but small portions. I've been to Cadence for breakfast a couple of times. The food is quite good, but the portion size is a little small (especially for the price). The portions are about right for my wife, who often skips breakfast. When we go out for breakfast (primarily on weekends), she will often skip lunch. When we eat at Cadence, she will still eat lunch at a regular time.
The food itself is very good. The eggs benedict is one of the better ones that I have had with the poached eggs really tender. I found the potatoes a little undercooked, but still good. The coffee is great. They carry Oso Negro, which is a good BC roaster. The banana cake is amazing, and is crumbled with skor bits. The scramble is okay, but when ordered with sausage, I think they only put one small sausage in it and two eggs.
The location is clean and bright. The menu is a bit confusing, since they have fancy names for most everything without a detailed description. Once you ask a few questions about what things are, they pull out a real menu for you to read. The staff are all friendly and cheerful.
I just checked the menu on the web site. It is quite dated. The items on the breakfast menu are different, and the prices are now about double those listed.
Cadence Coffee is a cute little diner located in Bowness that serves all day breakfast. During my visit, I tried the Bowness Scramble - scrambled eggs served with your choice of toppings and baked in the oven over a bed of crisp home fries. I chose to add avocado, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms and swiss cheese. If I ordered the dish again, I would also add bacon and cheddar for an extra touch of salt. Not a bad spot for coffee or breakfast if you are in the area. Interestingly enough, they provide a bottle of Sriracha at every table!
