Review Fergus & Bix - Calgary

Kevin Dunn
Have visited the SE Calgary location and was super impressed so checked out the NW location. Ordered the Ahi tuna as an apple - amazing. The steak was fantastic. Kinda wish they did a tenderloin instead of a sirloin but I love the low fat steak option. Still - would order it again in a heartbeat. 9 people at my table and 100% of the dishes are outstanding. Will be back!!!

I tried the chicken and waffle on the brunch menu this past long weekend. I've been doing city wide comparisons lately. I gave them 5 stars because the chicken was a large (whole), breaded chicken breast that was super crispy and the chicken was still moist and tender. It came served on two perfectly golden waffle halves that sandwiched some delicious bacon and arugula. I smothered the spicy butter (not overly spicy) on top the chicken and drizzled the mound with maple syrup and it was perfect! It was a very large portion. I'd say too big for 1 person but I finished it after much deliberation and ate nothing else the rest of the day! Service was timely and friendly!

Good food, good service and I would recommend this establishment. One big + for an old guy like me was that the background music was pleasant and NOT excessively loud or obnoxious

This is a neighbourhood restaurant with a soul! The burgers are great and the service is excellent! What impressed us the most is how kind and respectfully they treated a customer who likely has a chronic mental health condition. The world needs more of this kind of compassion and I will definitely be back.

We attended Fergus and Bix for a drink this evening. While we were contemplating from the street, a waitress approached us and advised us they were having happy hour. Though I recognize that for some people this may be unappealing but for us it was welcoming and awesome! At the moment they’re serving happy hour and appetizers only but the food is amazing! Definitely will be making this a regular place for us while we’re in Canmore!

Breakfast pizza is so unique and delicious! The flavours change in every bite. Sweet and salty.
Chung Niem
Some of the best French fries and burgers in the city.
Cody Schnell
Cold druaght. We've gotten the beer platter and really enjoy it. I always get the father's office burger it's perfect. The pasta and chicken sandwich is really good as well. Typically good to great service
Holly Morris
The appetizer was really good, but both burgers were immensely disappointing. The patties were extremely dry (hard to swallow), the French fries were soggy, and the sweet potato fries were so salty that even my salt loving husband couldn’t handle them. I will say again the appetizer was really good, and their cilantro lime dip is very good as well.
Oly
recommend the lettuce wrap appetizer!
They also have a decent gluten free option, as my friend is on a gluten free diet.
very friendly staff and good atmosphere.

F&B is inviting whether you sit inside or out. It was a lovely Calgary summer evening so we sat outside. I liked the selections of beer and the eclectic menu. Not wanting anything too heavy we started out with the potstickers which were standard fare, but done appropriately. I finished off with a noodle bowl. It could have used a bit more zing in the broth, but there was plenty of fresh ingredients and overall it wasn't bad. My friend's chicken Caesar also looked appealing. I tried the mojito and don't recommend it. It's a hard drink to get right: they don't. Stick with a beer or mixed drink. Still, this is a pretty good example of a neighbourhood pub - nice environment, pleasant waitstaff, moderately priced drinks and passable or better food.

This place is a true neighbourhood pub. Warm welcoming atmosphere, all different types of patrons from families (when minors are allowed), date night, friends night out, watch a game, after work meet up anyone anytime. Food is fairly priced for the delicious quality you get - rarely a disappointment. Fantastic service and staff. Beautiful south facing patio drenched in sunshine. Definitely a staple for brunch, lunch or dinner! Brunch is a must try here too. Enjoy!

A regular spot for us. This restaurant offers a good variety of options. Service tonight was excellent and wait time minimal. Food was served hot and very flavorful. Price is reasonable and the atmosphere is casual and friendly. Great neighborhood eating place!

I wasn't blown away from what I had initially expected based off the reviews and recommendations I had been told. It was ok, the food was good but nothing overly exciting, the service was alright again nothing stood out as exceptional and the drinks were average. I mean maybe I built it up more in my head which was my own fault but I was expecting something different

I love craft beer like I love food so I love that places like this popping up with good beer selections with good food. The staff was awesome got there around 11 & was empty there but had 2 members of the staff taking care of me both were awesome & genuine. The edamame were great not over cooked season well & the El Chuco an oven roasted chicken sandwich with onion, mango, peppers & jalapeno served with a smoked jus. The El Chuco had a little too much going on but was definitely good.

All I have to say is Ruby Ruby Ruby! Best waitress ever. She has such a personality, she made our night! I'd come back just to see her! We love the food at Fergus and Bix!
Food123
Definitely a great neighbour hood place to eat. I have been here on multiple occasions and it is always good. I definitely recommend the Pork Bao buns with coconut rice. They are sticky, sweet and delicious. I would also recommend the beat salad, it's so good with the fried goat cheese. My husband had the Wonton soup and he said it was the best he's had. The staff is always friendly and the service is good.
Chunny
This is a great addition to the neighbourhood! The food is delicious and the portions are large! They've got a good selection of beers and there's nothing quite like hanging out on the patio on a sunny lazy afternoon enjoying a cold one.

I have been to this pub twice, the last time during happy hour about 2 weeks ago. The prices were very reasonable, the food was very good and the service was superior.
Nicole Justine
Been here twice now. One was during the playoffs so was quite noisy as people had come to watch the game. The second time was nice. Food is good, ordered the Niçoise salad which was very nice (I love ahi tuna!) and have had the steak sandwich as well which was cooked to my liking and seasoned nicely.

The last time I went to Fergus & Bix I was very disappointed. I don't eat beef and pork for personal reasons, but enjoy chicken burgers with typical 'beef burger' condiments and toppings. I asked to have the Fergus and Bix burger, but to sub the beef for chicken. I let the waitress know that I was fine with an upcharge. Unfortunately, she let me know that the chefs would not complete the substitution. I would have to pay for the burger AND pay for a full chicken breast and they would just take off the beef and serve the chicken on the side. This seems ridiculous and like a convoluted solution to a simple request. The waitress was very accommodating and was helpful in providing me other meal suggestions. She did a great job negotiating the ridiculous policy. The food is good, but not great and the price tag is high for what you receive. We live close by and would like to have made it our 'go to' neighbourhood spot, but not at these prices for what the restaurant provides.
Alexa
Sat at a table for 20 minutes and no one came. Went up to the bartender who told us a waitress would be right out, 15 minutes go by and no one comes! What a joke
Beer Lover
A good place I think for your standard pub favourites although likely more suited to a pint with a friend and a few chicken wings in lieu of the full meal deal. We had the penne pasta and it was just so-so ; really nothing you couldn't whip up at home.
Valve Guy
Decent food, good beer selection always excellent service with a smile. Kid friendly on the weekends which is a great option on the west side.

Fergus & Bix is a great go-to in the neighbourhood for pub food and beer.

Service is consistent, reliable, and great. Going out of the way at times to ensure guest comfort. Atmosphere is good, however the noise level can get a little loud at times from other patrons conversing.

The beer is IPA only, they are great at guiding at the in's and outs and there is usually a seasonal beer which to try.

The food is good, not all necessarily traditional, however there is a great selection to choose from. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask, last time we found out there are a couple more traditional wing flavours then the ones on the menu, which is nice.

Stopped in for a beer. Sat at bar. Was thinking of ordering an appy but didn't bother since the gal at bar didn't ask me if I wanted to see a menu. Bar wasn't even busy. Maybe they don't serve food at bar part. Certainly had no idea of what food offerings if any they had. I was going to flag her down and ask her for a menu but I didn't bother cuz I wasn't sure if I wanted a nipple. Point is, had she asked I probably would have ordered something.

Mediocre food, good service and very noisey. Went there after their renovation, its definitely nice and light in there now but because it is so wide open there is nothing to deflect sound. Especially on a Sunday afternoon when it is full of kids. Food was priced on the high side and I would rate it as mediocre, gluten free buns were very dry and burger was hard as a rock. As for salads let's just say my wife's had half of the core and stem in it.

Saved my day. Fergus is my go to restaurant in West Calgary, there beer board for two is always a take home theres so much. Today my wife and I had lunch there and upon leaving find out the car wouldn't start caused by a dead battery in the remote fob {this type of car apparently can not deactivate the alarm without the fob} Iwas put on hold by taxi company for 10 minutesas I needed a cab to get home and get another fob , so while a waited I went into the restaurant and asked Neil the manager if he could give me a ride if about 5 minutes to my house and get another set of keys, not only did he give me a lift he brought me back saving the wife a trip and would not accept a tip for himself or for his staff. Been their over 50 times will definetly be back again.
Harlow

Inventive Comfort Food. Though the reviews for Fergus and Bix are relatively uneven, we needed to find lunch in the West Springs area and decided to give them a try - and we were glad we did!

The restaurant has very comfortable seating, but more "communal tables" than I would like - which made me make note to come on a quieter day. We scored a comfortable booth (you just walk in and seat yourself apparently) and were right away impressed by the menu.

Mom had the Full Moon chicken sandwich which was a generous serving of a whole chicken breast on baguette, plus very, very tasty with chili aoli (not too spicy) and plenty of fresh veggies. My husband had the Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich - the smoked meat is shipped in from Montreal. An excellent choice on fresh rye, plus it came with two sides as all sandwiches do. The price point at Fergus and Bix is very wallet friendly - the servings are huge (like someone said, are we in the US?) and come with two sides. I would like to see maybe a little cheaper prices and one side, but that's just splitting hairs. However, my husband with his he-man appetite thinks not; I am speculating he would like double up on the amazing smoked cheddar mashed potatoes.

My Fish and Chips were done up in a beer batter; the fish was maybe a tad oversalted and a tad overcooked - however the coating was light and crispy, and non greasy. It came with a house-made tangy mustard tartar sauce plus an inventive fennel coleslaw. The fries it came with were obviously hand cut and done perfectly. Service was attentive and very friendly.

We are already planning to go back to Fergus and Bix - hopefully our second experience will be just as good, taking into account the uneven reviews. Looks like Mondays are a great time to go with a beer and burger only 10 bucks.

Great Spot. Love the variety of on tap beer, food is great, service 95% of the time is fantastic

Always Delicious. I've been to this location several times over the years, and it never fails to impress. Friendly staff for the most part, delicious vegetarian options. Probably not for the hardcore foodie, but no complaints if you're looking for good fusion, which is what it proclaims to be. I like the portions to be enough to fill me up. Favourite item: the veggie burger.
Kit
Portions are HUGE. I have eaten here twice and will likely go back. They have a menu similar to JOEY with a good variety of fusion foods, gluten free options and man oh man the portions are RETARDED. I felt like I was in the USA. I ordered a salad which didn't come in half size so I thought, ok I'll eat this for my dinner. I only finished HALF. The orange juice sucks, btw. But the food is AMAZING. You could order 1 meal and share for 2 people easily.
Jenny S
Underwhelming & disappointing. The food at F&B is massively disappointing - overpriced, under-flavored and mediocre all round. The beer selection is not bad, but for what you pay and what you get, there are vastly better restaurants out there. Give this one a miss.
Culinarygangster
Found the food lazy and uninspiring.. Go elsewhere. Worst pizza I've ever had
Elaine D
Awesome! Been coming since they opened and food has always been great and the staff is very friendly. Even though Friday can be busy I'd rather wait than go elsewhere! Definite try.
Anton Ego
Once upon a time.... This place once was a great place for food, atmosphere, and good drinks. Yet again, it seems that the shine of it's glory days has worn thin. Now the food is mediocre at best, service is friendly but rare, and the overall experience leaves you in disappointment. I've had much better overall for much less expense.

I've been a frequent customer of this fabulous restaurant which provides amazing food served by wonderful staff. Their flatbreads are great and many times I've been allowed to get my favorite (the Sicilian) without a tomato based sauce that I'm allergic to. Recently the Westsprings establishment has refused to simply even delete the sauce using an excuse that it reduces their food integrity and spoils the presentation. Disappointed and frustrated with their recent lack of flexibility which I really haven't found at any other place I've dined at.

Lackluster at Best. Visited for lunch on a Sunday. The lady and I ordered a Napa Valley Cab ($31 for a half liter) that was served in white wine glasses without a taste or proper pour - Very unimpressed. The Lettuce Wraps were the only redeeming quality of the meal - were tasty and reasonably portioned. Gluten Free pizza was very poorly executed with no care in preparation or ingredients. Had a burger that was none too exciting despite costing $18.

The servers were happy but inattentive and quite apparently undertrained.

Not worth the $ and I will not be returning.
Alan
Horrible services. Waited an hour for food. Waitress didn't come back to refill drink. Got completely ignored. Clean inside. Food was ok probably more irritated with the service.
Laura.sc
Calamari is amazing. Ok, so its got a "franchise or chain" feel. Server was not knowledgeable about beer menu...but also barely 18. I get it. At least try it. But....the calamari....crazy amazing. An asian fusion flavour with sesame seeds and a soy dipping sauce. I crave it.
Glutenfreeyyc
A great pub/lounge experience - but gluten free!. It's very refreshing to be able to go to a pub/lounge and have a beer and a burger - and having it all be gluten free! I am always happy to go to Fergus & Bix, where unlike other pubs, I am offered gluten free burgers, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and bottles of beer. I always have a hard time choosing what to have and am never disappointed.

My favourite is a Bard's beer with the messy and delicious pulled pork sandwich.

However, I would recommend that because they have so many gluten free options, they consider having a dedicated gf fryer for the french fries, etc. The only sides we were allowed to have with our gluten free meal was a salad, which was pretty disappointing.
Mad Hungry
Tuesday at lunch, rolled in with my brother, wife, and 4 week old sleeping baby.
Manager approached us and said " Hey guys, good news bad news. Good news is we are family friendly on weekends, bad news we are not family friendly during the week".
I was hungry and enjoyed the food last time I was there, so where the eff is the good news?
I failed to see the logic as there was only 6 other people in the restaurant (why only on the weekends when they are already busy?).
I respect that they stick to their policies, even if it makes no business sense. But I was hungry, and now my memory of the place is tainted with the cheeseball voice "good news, bad news"...
Oh well, good news for me-globefish is across the street.
Adam D
My wife and I both had the beef dip, and it was probably the best beef dip I have ever had. Using slow cooked beef ribs instead of sliced roast beef like other pubs made all the difference. I will definitely be back for it again.
Jack
Great Canada Day Treat. We went here Canada Day and enjoyed one of the best meals we have have in years. Fish and Chips were super, well cooked, large portion and extremely tasty and moist. Ribs were fantastic as well - a very large portion and very tasty and fall off the bone good. The Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich was also great - a large meal with all the trimmings. Beer sampler was a great way to try their assortment of brews.

Service was very good with friendly and attentive staff.

We will be back.

Great food. This is a great place to go watch the game or have a ladies night out. friendly staff, healthy menu options. Great atmosphere and many gluten free menu options!

Great Breakfast on Weekends. I stopped in at Fergus & Bix two weeks ago for an early lunch on a Saturday, and discovered they still offered brunch. I ordered the Eggs Benedict w/ Smoked Salmon, which is a favorite of mine that I've ordered a dozens of places over the years. Fergus & Bix served me, without question, the BEST smoked salmon Bennies I've ever had. The salmon was light and fresh, the eggs were poached perfectly, and they arrived with just the right amount of Hollandaise sauce (which was also expertly prepared). The hashbrowns were crispy and full of potato flavour, and the fresh fruit cup included citrus & berries instead of just mellon like so many places. This was a FAR SUPERIOR breakfast than I've ever gotten at the former Nelly's place across the street for the same money; my only complaint is that they only serve breakfast on weekends.

Came in last week, close to last call so the food came out fast and was excellent! Never had bad food here!! The only reason I have to complain was our server, we forgot to look at the bill for her name but she was blond and the number on our visa is 17 if that means anything. She would disappear into the kitchen area for a long time and we could hear her talking to someone and laughing back there. From our LONG time spent looking around we noticed she was the only server, with a good looking bartender at that ;) It was quiet in the restaurant because the restaurant was not busy so I would advise staff to ensure conversations are kept quieter at night. There were a couple times where we had a question, or needed a drink or just would have appreciated seeing her walk by. Our experience was still good and we will come back but....strike 1. Ps, usually service is pretty decent here, maybe she's new and this is an exception!

Great food twice--will go back. My wife and I have eaten at the West Springs location twice this winter after receiving a recommendation from a "local" to the area. We had thin crust pizza and beet salad both times and certainly enjoyed them. The person next to us had a huge bowl of wor won ton soup that he confirmed tasted as good as it looked. Service (at the bar) was excellent and the micro-brew beer selection has good variety. It appears there is a considerably better level of customer satisfaction at the West Springs location that at the Marda Loop location, based on reviews at this website.

Great service and food. Stopped by the West Springs Fergus & Bix with a friend for a late lunch. It was pretty quiet given that it was after 1:30, but the service was great - very attentive waitresses. The menu offered a variety of pub food, and the food itself was great. My only qualm would be when I asked for the rest of my meal to be wrapped up. The waitress took my plate, but also proceeded to clear the table and attempt to juggle everything (used plates, cutlery, napkins, etc.) back to the kitchen - there wasn't really any separation of my remaining meal, which to me was very unhygienic. I think it would be a much better idea to either take the remaining food to wrap it on its own (before cleaning the table) OR bring an empty food container to the table and wrap the food in front of the customer.
Devon
Cassie and Kylan were amazing. They satisfied all our needs. The food is supurb and more people should come participate in the beer challenge.
Shane Fallis
Cassie was the best manager helped us with anything we needed! Food was great, good beer and are server was super hot kylan!!
Foodie
Amazing. I have been to Fergus & Bix several times and have been impressed each and every time. The food is always great and it is very consistent each time I go in. In response to a previous review about the management, I have to completely disagree. The managers are always very friendly and quick to respond to any issues that may arise. I also appreciate the effort they put in to talk to customers and make them feel welcome. I have a hard time believing that they dealt with an situation in a way that seemed unprofessional. We love this restaurant is definitely one of the best hangout spots in Calgary!
Craeanne
Disappointed in the Manager's response to a bad meal. I wasn't going to write this review as we used to love coming here... however, upon reading Amie's review I was a little shocked to discover the SAME THING happened to us. We had a bad steak (it tasted so old and rank) and the MANAGER tried to pass the blame to us telling us the chef tasted it in the back and it was fine (the chef tasted a steak we gnawed on??) and that it was "personal preference". Give me a break!
The nachos were also burned and dry ... the manager said "you are right, I looked at the nachos and they are a little dry"... you are right? Ya I am. I wouldn't have sent them back otherwise!
Amie
Started Out Great!!. Found this place and was wowed by the food and service. Couldnt ask for more so fresh and healthy. Then as time went on we noticed that the service got worse and the food was much worse. I think its when the owners opened up the second marda loop location. Its too bad all of a sudden they couldnt even cook a steak. And some girl had the nerve to argue that it was us not them. How rude when someone spends alot of money eating there on a weekly basis. It has been a while since we have gone back and probably never will. Use to love this place but again the food has gotten so crappy over time its just not worth the price.
Pavlinathornton
Favorite local spot. We have eaten here at least 2 dozen times and the food has always been delicious. My husband has tried pretty much everything on the menu and loved it all. Our favorites are the beef dip, pulled pork and the pizzas. The food, service and overall experience is always consistently great. We eat out a lot and that's a rare thing to find.
Charlie Brown
Typical pub with pub food and pub atmosphere done well. Great food and service, will definitely return!
Brittany Anne
Awesome food and beer selection. Friendly and attentive staff too. A place like this is a rare find.
Cs
Tried their beer board appetizer last night and it was delicious!! My friend had their Montreal smoked meat sandwich and that was horrible!! We mentioned the stale bread to our server and she couldn't have cared less. Then she followed up with lying to us with regards to how the sandwich is made...ummm who gives...fix it. Too little too late. The beer selection and their appy's are delish but the staff are uneducated and useless. Twenty minutes with empty glasses and no tab in sight. Useless.
Helen Tarkowski
New Marda Loop location,
Did the owners forget to decorate? Did they not train their staff? Food unremarkable. What is a Beer Market?

Come on Calgary! Have some class! Don't encourage these kinds of boring places, no wonder people think we are backwards, in Calgary.
The decor or lack of is boring, really no atmosphere? There was no hostess, after waiting, a waitress in a faded too small and shabby black t-shirt , announced for us to seat ourselves. We did, we waited for menus, we waited for drinks, even thought they were not busy. There was no Hi, welcome have you been before? Drink specials, meal specials, she had no skills or personality. Serving is a learned skill.
When we did get our food the fries had a overly peppery taste. It was not pleasant. Our glass ran dry and we were not asked for refills, after making a comment, a refill showed up, too late. As I said Unremarkable. Please folks, don't encourage this kind of establishment. The owners obviously don't want to invest money into anything but the minimum. Again, Calgarians make a statement that you want more, expect more, deserve more for your money. You can get Beer anywhere, go somewhere where you won't have to over pay.
Joe
Joe. Checked out the new place in Marda loop the other day, can't say i was overly impressed. Found it very expensive for the quality of food that we received. The nachos we ordered were very bland and lacking in cheese(21$) please. The server though was quite attentive and friendly. Also not a great place to watch sporting events.
PinotG
Not your average Neighbourhood Pub!. Fergus and Bix is a great change from your regular pub grub. Not to mention a unique selection of beverages from beer to wine to blended concoctions (and of course non-alcoholic). There is great variety on the menu and I would have to say I have tried almost everything once. Love the Wontons, so many great apps to choose from. All the salads are great portions and very are fresh, filled with a selection of veggies and toppings, from Ahi Tuna to Chicken or your traditional caeser salad.

Said to say they have recently updated and removed some of my favorites, but there is still much to choose from and enjoy. We have always had great service, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Sundays I believe they serve brunch and kids are welcome during this time. We love this place and continue to bring friends and family....looking forward to checking out the new location in Marda Loop!! :)
Caoimhe
Great place. Great atmosphere, great service, great beer and great food. I loved everything about my experience, although relatively expensive. The pizza I ordered (Sicilian) wasn't amazing but oddly enough tasted fantastic for lunch the next couple days. The appetizer we ordered (Handmade Wontons) made us request that the server compliment the chef for us. I could easily order a full plate for myself and not share a single delicious morsel. Loved it and will definately be back to try out more of the entrees they have to offer.
Steakosaurus
Great spot. Awesome selection of local beer, great service, good food. Lots of mounted flatscreens and modern but comfortable seating.
Karen
Off Day maybe. Have been to F&B several times and the food has always been good until Easter Monday lunch. Ordered burgers & fries. Fries were cold, lettuce on burger had gunk on it, and tomato had been sliced the day before. Will give it another try but two strikes and your out!
Steve Reynolds
Had lunch here a few days ago. Loved the food! Our server was awesome, felt like a friend was serving us but still professional. Even looking around all the girls looked nice, so I would come back. Nice location but can't wait until the patio opens!
P-dizzle
I love the 3 Flight Sampler! When you can't decide on what beer you want, this little diddy lets you pick 3. Mmmm.
Rob Edwards
Worth the trip!. I went to Fergus and Bix Restaurant and Beer Market for the first time yesterday, and was blown away by what I found. It was suggested to me by a friend who shares my enthusiasm for good beer. First off, the selection on tap was very extensive, and offered more desirable choices than I could afford to try in one sitting. Although I didn't go for the food, I was very pleased with my Salad as well. Our server was excellent, and her attitude towards her job alone would be worth the trip back. Hat's off to the management for running this establishment so smoothly. I highly recommend Fergus and Bix to anyone looking for amazing service, food, and of course, beer!
Vegetarian Delight
Veggie Burger & Yam Fries & Veg. Okay so even though there's not alot of vegetarian fare, I must say the veggie burger, yam fries and grilled veg on the side = delish!
Best veggie burger in town by far!!!
Cdowb021
Great!. I really love this place. the food is delicious, there is good service, and I love the laid back atmosphere. I have always had good experiences here, and I know I will have more in the future!
Lyss9027
Love this place!. I've been here a few times and ive never been dissapointed. The food is amazing! Even their simple dishes such as their burgers are to die for. The restaurant itself is really nice. It's nice and open, and the layout is very interesting. The only complaint I have is that the staff can be hit or miss. A couple of times the servers weren't very friendly, but there have been some very nice ones as well. Overall it's a nice place to go for a good restaurant experience!
John Bobenic
Great Place. Wonderful contemporary/pub like atmosphere. Great on tap beers, top notch pub like menu, very friendly staff and patrons. 5 star award to servers Vanessa and Anna. A must for west enders.
Lindsay
Unlikely place for... I was craving seared salmon and tuna the other day, but the place who serves it up perfectly (Sushi Ichiban on 37th and Bow) was closed. My heart was set on semi-raw fish, so I was disappointed resorting to Fergus & Bix - though it is convenient/close to home. I was pleasantly surprised to see 'Seared Ahi Tuna' on the menu. I gave it a try and it was absolutely delicious! I did not expect to get something like that at F&B, I was very pleased! :) Thanks for fulfilling my cravings ;) haha
Curtis
Great Food.. Great food and beer. The serving sizes are so big that I have never yet been able to finish my meal. Excellent fish & chips.
Chad Lane
Absolutely amazing! Nothing I would change, or complain about. Great service, even better food. Try it out!
Shannon
Deserves Recognition. My ladies group goes to Fergus & Bix every month. While we find it comfortable and relaxing, it feels much more upscale than a pub. Also, the food is ten times better than any pub I have been in! Their yam fries are the best in the city. I don't usually bother with reviews but since we have had many great experiences there, I thought they deserve the recognition. Thanks.
Westsprings
Poor managers. Excellent food, beer, servers. Never been dissapointed by the service here but the one manager (bald one) made sure i will never return. When there was a discrepancy about the bill he came over and bluntly, if not rudely told me that he would not pay for this and I was going to have to. He also mentioned that if it made me mad well oh well he didn't expect to see me again

Well, he was right, I will never go in again because of him, and only him!
Goloso
Lacking. Great beer selection and friendly staff. The food is average. Beyond a nice Vietnamese soup bowl and another item or 2 it is bland, standard pub fare. Biggest, most blatant error: the patio is exposed to a busy street and the elements. A proper glass enclosure would make it more appealing to guests and they would certainly attract more people. I'll go the extra 3 minutes now and go to Aspen Landing and explore the myriad options there.
Slowjo14
Great Appetizers!. I have gone to this restaurant many times since it has opened. Service has been off and on (sometimes great, sometimes O.K.) but I have never had bad food there. The appetizers are great (try the Asian Lettuce Wraps or the wontons) and, although the food has been good but nothing amazing, it is very filling and portions are pretty generous. I will definitely keep on coming here (I'm always craving those Asian lettuce wraps).
Gary Pearce
Great service, nice atmosphere, and good food. Everything you want from a neighborhood pub!

Above And Beyond The Call Of Duty!. My husband and I arrived back in Canada after a long flight from Spain and our second evening in Calgary, our son and daughter in law took us to their neighbourhood eatery, Fergus & Bix. I didn't expect too much from a restaurant in a suburban shopping mall, especially after the dining delights of Madrid, but trusted in my son's good taste.

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming the moment we walked in, and the food was equally appealing and delicious. We left feeling more than satisfied with a great meal so close to home. We were still jet lagged and a great meal was just what we needed.

The next day, I noticed that my husband's passport was missing, and I was sure that I had dropped it at the airport after clearing immigration. We called around, but no one had turned it in. I felt it might have fallen from my purse at Fergus & Bix, so my son called but there was no sign of it there either. What a terrible way to end a great 8-month trip, losing a passport back in Canada.

A couple of days later, my son received a call from a man saying he had found a passport in the parking lot in front of Fergus & Bix. When he asked how he got the cell number, the man said there was on a note about a missing passport posted in the restaurant's front window. We couldn't believe that the staff had made the extra effort after our phone call.

As you can well imagine, we were very much relieved to be reunited with my husband's passport, and I am chastened to think that I could have lost it in the first place. Hats off to the staff at Fergus & Bix, for great food, great service and for going above and beyond for a distressed customer.

We're going back for another terrific meal tonight, and an opportunity to thank the staff in person. I'd highly recommend you swing by for a visit yourself, just make sure you leave your passport at home!

Don't want to cook tonight but don't want fried. Eaten here 3 times and haven't had a bad meal. surprised to see it rated $$$. Last trip had the chicken wraps w/2 sides(caesar salad & roasted veggies) and spouse had thai chicken salad. Was very pleased to have a variety of fresh color, (skipped the starch tonight). The beer is cold & the food is dependable.

A decent suburban restro-pub. Fergus & Bix is located out in the burbs in a strip mall and so I really wasn't expecting much more than burgers and fries and standard pub fare. However, I was pleasantly surprised by a more substantial and upscale menu and a pretty decent, albeit small, wine list (along with the pub food). It really is more of a combination "restaurant and pub" than just a straight pub. I had a blackened chicken caesar salad with a glass of sokol blosser evolution wine. The salad was quite tasty and a good size. The chicken was good...although not really blackened (seemed like more of cayenne pepper coating) but it was still spicy and well cooked.

I wouldn't make a special trip out there but, if you happen to be in the neighbourhood, it's a good place to stop for a bite and a drink.

Great place for meeting and socializing. Good food and beer menu. If I could change one thing, I would have a few domestic beers on tap as the heavy microbrews don't always sit well. If they had Bud Light on tap, Fergus and Bix would be perfect.

Great Place!. My husband and I have been planning to go to Fergus & Bix for some time after seeing some great reviews from other sources. The comments on this site seemed quite harsh for everything else that we read, so we finally made a point to see for ourselves this past Saturday. Not sure where the negative feedback comes from, this place was great! It was absolutely packed, yet we didn't have to wait long for a table. Food and Service were very good and the only thing I had to think about was the conversation with my man. This to me has always been my test for a great night out = worry free. Well Done Fergus & Bix, we will definitely be back.

I love love the smoked meat eggs benedict. The meat is super flavorful and goes so well with the hollandaise and eggs. Yum! I also like that you get fruit and hashbrowns

I first went to Fergus and Bix after my girlfriend moved to Aspen and we went to have dinner at the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the young, fun atmosphere but at the time there were like no gluten free options. Last weekend I picked up my girlfriend and her baby at the airport and we decided to get takeout at from Fergus and Bix. I looked at the website at was pleasantly surprised at all of the gluten free options including gluten free pasta, pizza and sammy’s. Wow what a pleasant surprise!! I ordered the caprese pizza and my girlfriend ordered the blackened chicken and the farmer’s beet salad. All of which were delicious and I was so impressed by the service and attention to making sure the dishes were gluten free. Go Fergus and Bix. Thanks for coming to the gluten free side. http://fergusandbix.com/pdf/F&B_Emenu_2012.pdf

They do have another location in Marda Loop which I believe they opened sometime last year. The pub is very comfortable, plenty of tables and just a good place to hang out for some food and drinks. I find the menu has an excellent variety, the food is great and the prices are decent for what you get. I'm always on the hunt for good Nacho's, so this time I ordered their Bix Better Nachos with Cajun Chicken, it was really good, nice and loaded with sour cream and salsa on the side, just how I like it. For our mains we had the Short Rib Beef Dip, which I love, meat is delicious, bun is awesome and the au jus is nice and salty! You also get 2 sides with your meals, so be prepared to be stuffed. The other main we ordered was the Mont
