I have no idea what happened here but Jack Astor’s is good again! Get the bow tie pasta with chicken and sun dried tomatoes. So good! Service is as you’d expect, pretty good. Often packed with families, but it’s still worth it.

Close to home, always fun, always busy! The servers are amazing, they know how to make you feel special, and the management is very accommodating! Love this spot!
Used to work close by so would come here for drinks after work with friends. Their Cajun shrimp Mac and cheese is so tasty with just the right amount of heat so that you can still taster everything. Drinks are a bit expensive so I usually just end up getting whatever cheap beer is on tap or on special. Wait staff is hit and miss. Some are great, others you'd wish would just quit their job already.
The chicken fingers though!. They are huge! Order with a poutine and you have a man's meal right there. Very pleased with the food and service. Would definitely return and recommend.
Came here last night around 7. The place was busy. After waiting for a table we got sat in Kayla's section. She was amazing. The food was awesome. It was our first time here and we will definitely be coming back. The kicker was the general manager introducing himself and seeing how our first visit went. Not many places in the city like here.
I liked the food. However, I ordered a Vanilla Coke. The waitress put it in 6 times. It was not until after my meal that it arrived.
Buddha salad was great! If you want a delicious salad that's a meal this is one to try
Probably the best buffalo chicken fingers I've ever had! Fresh chicken really makes a delicious difference. Friendly service and always fun to color on the tables too
Always a positive experience. I LOVE Jack Astor's. You get great sevice, even when everyone at the table orders water for drinks, and the staff remember you when you come back. Never tried something there that I didn't like, and the portions are huge! The atmosphere is great, and the decor is super funky. Plus, you can draw on the table while you wait for your food! The prices are very reasonable, and I almost always have leftovers :)
Not too shabby. I really liked it. I would go back for the Buffalo Fingers again for sure.
First impression was nice. Decor was nice, music was decent. Friendly server and then delicious food. Allison was our server, she was more than helpful and polite and chatty and I appreciated her honesty when she admitted to getting the order wrong. We ended up with free desserts for both myself and my other half. I will be coming back for the great tasting food and friendly service!
Great patio! Sun all day! Amazing food and cold drinks
If you've never had the food at Jack Astor's you're missing out. Crazy this place only has a high 70's rating. It should easily be in the 90 percentile. The food is amazing and the service is even better. Try the cool innovative poutines and the summer rolls. You won't be disappointed.
Can't complain. This place is not nearly as "family" orientated as it used to be. If your kids are 14+, it's fine. I go here with my parents or my friends and have enjoyed it. It recently got renovated in the last 2 years and it looks great. The bar is much bigger and it's much more open than it used to be. I go there for drinks sometimes and the service is always good and punctual. Food is decent. The place is fun and caters to a younger (20-30) crowd it seems. Price is good too. You get what you pay for - in a good sense. The menu is quite extensive... You can pretty much please anyone with it. You can also customize certain things so that's a good sign that it's not pre-made or just re-heated. I've done this several times as I'm particular about certain foods.
Great food! Great service! My kids love coming here! Drawing on the tables, funny tv clips, sports on a million TVs. Only place I can have fun and dine with my family. Staff doesn't make you feel unwelcome when you have a couple toddlers eating the way they do. It's all smiles. Food my kids love, caesar salads with goldfish..... Easily my fav restaurant for dinner or late entertainment!
Sat on the lounge side. Great table, loads of televisions, great service and good food.
I love going to this place and ordering their chicken strips cuz they make it fresh. I also think the t-shirts and the cups with texts on them am the fact that you can draw on their tables are pretty creative. They've changed their birthday song so it's no longer I'm a little teacup which is good but make my friends swear never to tell them it's my birthday when I go there for that occasion. Also you must must must try their red velvet cake it's fairly large though so share with someone or two people if you don't eat much.
Typical place. This place is pretty average. Food ok, service ok, that's about it. Nothing special. The waitresses are nice enough if not a little TOO chatty. The twist they put on a regular Caesar cocktail really sucks. They have bottles of tabasco on the shelves, tables and bar yet insist on putting Franks in the Caesar... Yuck. Along with a shrimp.
AMAZING service.... The service is why I keep going back....meals are served with a smile, in a timely manner no matter how busy. I always order the Nemo and a vailla cola to drink.
First time at Jack Astors on Mcleod Trial. Being a burger fanatic I was eager to try one. I decided on the Smokey Burger. On my burger list, this would come in in my top 25. It was a good looking burger. Not too much bun encasing a good portion of beef, condiments and toppings. The bacon was crispy and the bacon that escaped my bite stayed in the bun.The pickle wedge was a nice addition. My only complaint was the flavour of the patty. Good portion but it needed a little more seasoning and some smokey grill taste. The drinks were well done. The service was very friendly and apologetic but it definately needs some improving in the areas of time and attention to the details of the job. I always tip in the range of 20% so service is important to me. Good service can most times make up for mediocre food but bad service can interfere with your enjoyment of good food. I would return but only if it was a matter of convenience or not out of my way.
Consistently Great!! Amazing customer service. Always greeted and the servers are so friendly and accommodating. (look out for a server named Arsene. His Service is similar to a 5 star restaurant standards). The food has always been great! Never have to wait a long time. Overall my last few experiences have been awesome!! Other chains (BP, White spot, etc) should take note of this location!!

Best Garlic Bread Ever!. Jack Astor's is my first choice year after year for my birthday celebration. I am a big fan of the fun atmosphere and crazy cartoons hanging everywhere (ps-reserve early to book "the Elvis booth"). I love drawing on the tables and always, ALWAYS order my favorite Garlic Pan Bread with cheese. I will make the journey from my home in NW Calgary down to MacLeod Trail S JUST to get this appitizer. Not much of the other food is notable to me, and the desserts are sadly lacking where they used to be super creative and yummy. But hey, Jack Astors will always be a favorite of mine as long as they keep the Garlic Pan Bread with cheese.
The one word you need to remember if you ever go here is,. Bruschetta, Bruschetta, Bruschetta, Bruschetta, Bruschetta!
I wish I had a picture to share of this sweet plate of deliciousness, but the second I took a bite out of one, I literally looked like a woman at a bruschetta eating contest and scarfed the rest down within five minutes. The garlic aioli and a balsamic glaze are the ingredients that make this appy pop! As per the description off the menu, "A must-have - if you don't like it, we'll eat it!", or if i'm there, I will eat it for you!
There is no word to describe how delicious this appetizer is, so I am going to make one up specifically for it, ScrumAddExqHea! Which is a combination of Scrumptious, Addictive, Exquisite and Heavenly! The decor is awesome, the lighting is pretty creative and the drawings I completed by crayons on the table made the visit extra fun. Also, I caught myself singing along to most of the songs playing in the background, another great feature to go with this restaurant.
I'd have to say the only downer was my Pad Thai, just didn't work for me, and the fact that this is the only Jacks in all of Calgary. Makes for a drive when you live up in the NE.
All in all, just remember that one word!
Do I really need to say it again?!
Nice little surprise!. Chicken fingers were homemade! (Almost exactly like I make them myself, actually.) Looking forward to trying other items on the menu.
Awesome. One of my favorites. Service is great, and if it isn't, they always adjust your bill or give you coupons. If it is a game night, it is really busy in the lounge, so I recommend sitting in the dinning room as the staff can not be as attentive when they are swamped. The three peppercorn chicken rigatoni is amazing, I order it every time.
Fantastic Service. I'm actually quite surprised that the rating is not higher for Jack's! We love this restaurant, hubby and I always get the Smokey Jack Burger which is one of the best burgers I've ever had in Calgary! It's a BIG burger and they give you lots of fries, so unless you're a big eater expect to take some home. Neither hubby or I can even eat half of our burgers so we take home the other half and have another meal for later.
We have always had fantastic service here. We have been there many times and only twice has there ever been a problem and they were just simply because it was so busy that our meals were taking a little longer than usual, both times they brought us a complimentary order of Pan Bread(which if you haven't tried is REALLY good!!) to make up for the delay. One time one of the managers was so happy with my boys and their manners that she brought them out a big piece of chocolate cake! I've never had anyone do something so sweet at any other restaurant we've been to.
It was our second time here and the service is always great. Last time we dined our very helpful server went out of her way to make me try their lentil soup as I was indecisive of the choices for my starters. Food was great and we had an awesome time. Will be back!
Good food. Nice spot to drop in at lunch.

I love a menu with lots of options. Everything was delicious, We shared, caesar salad, chicken bow ties with chicken and calamari, but the best part of the meal was dessert.
