Amazing food! Finally amazing gluten free food and the best vegan cheese! for a small place it sure is pumping out some good eats! Loved it and will definitely come back again.
This place was awesome! Just a tiny place to eat in but it was a perfect spot for my husband and I to have a dinner date. Eating at 100% gf places makes me feel like a normal person again. I can go in and order ANYTHING I want and I don't have to ask a zillion questions about food safety and cross contamination. Service was awesome. Pizza was divine. My husband (the gluten eater) also really enjoyed it so it definitely passes the test. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a great thin crust pizza!
I'm brand new to the city and I've had celiac's since I was very young. My sister discovered this place and "gifted" me a pizza. It was wonderful! I'm so relieved to have found another place to eat where I don't have to worry about being sick after! Great attention to flavours, the crust was perfect, and I'm now in a blissful cheesy coma. Thanks again!
It was the best pizza I've had in Calgary. Love the halal and vegan options. The service was great and the staff was nice and friendly. Definitely going to be our go to for pizza from now on.
With a serious gluten allergy in our family this place is everything we had been looking for. Healthy, safe, friendly, fast and super delicious!! Thank you!!
I am not much of a person to write reviews about food or restaurants, however, I am making this an exception due to how impressed my wife and I were with the food here. I have never eaten any pizza this tasty and the fact that the entire menu is Halal is especially salient as a Muslim. MashaAllah, the highest level of quality of the ingredients places this pizza on a plane way above the others when it comes to finding a good Halal pizza. I hope to try everything on the menu inshaAllah! It was also great to see an old friend, an added surprise to my first visit! Wonderful food and amazingly friendly customer service. It was great seeing you again bro! Salams!
Amazing pizza! Love the focus on local ingredients and great combinations of flavours!! The squash hummus was incredible and the vegan cheese blew my mind. Highly recommend !
Loved it! Due to food sensitivities, I needed to order both gluten free and vegan cheese and I couldn't tell that I was eating either one! It was super yummy and we will be visiting again!
Best Flatbread pizza ever - Plus it's gluten free! All pizzas can also be made vegan or vegetarian - love this place! Excellent unique artisan creations -
I am in pizza heaven when ordering from you guys ! Impressed that with every savory bite I cannot tell that it's gluten free! It's my new guilty pleasure ! Love that there is healthy choices then your competitors ! Coming back for more real soon
This is the Best gourmet pizza place in town! Fresh high quality ingredients.
Great service, delicious pizza & best vegan cheese ever! We will definitely be going back for more!
My new favourite pizza place! Had the Marda Loop and Kensington pizzas (both veganized) and they were awesome. Yes, pizza can be healthy and still have a ton of great flavours! Unique, fresh toppings, a tasty crust.... I can't wait to have more.
Loved it...yum yum yum fresh and flavorful. Can't wait to go again
Just go get a Village Pizza already! The best Pizza I've ever eaten! I love that all the pizzas are named after Calgary neighbourhoods.
Went on a Saturday evening and got a table right away. My partner and I split a Killarney with vegan mozzarella, a mint kombucha and piece of the raw chocolate nut cake. All of it was phenomenal, like, phenomenal for food, period, gluten or no. I have no idea what's in the vegan mozzarella but it tasted almost like goat cheese. The bacon on the pizza was savory and salty with a nice, aged depth. The crust was crunchy and flaky, with a texture somewhere between traditional pizza crust and mochi. And the bill came to $40 including a nice tip. We'll definitely be back.
The owner of this place remembers me even though I've only been here twice - I frequent his old restaurant, Avatara, but this blows it away. Seems he brought his secrets with him!! Definitely worth a shot, gluten allergy or no!
Best pizza in Calgary! Not ashamed to say we order this once a week. Best gluten free crust I have ever had. Vegan mozzarella is amazing if your dairy free. Most pizza leaves you feeling guilty and gross after but not village flatbread. Salads are great as well! 5 stars :)
This place is always awesome. I keep coming back for the Britannia, with added banana peppers and chicken. Soo delicious, you won't be disappointed.
Ordered two vegan pizzas (asked for less fake cheese than normal) and both were delicious. The cheese they use is delicious (nothing like dayia)! Ordered a Shaganappi and Tuscany, the Tuscany was amazing. Highly recommend trying it!
This place is fantastic! So many great vegan and vegetarian options! I think the closer for me was that when you talk to the team about where their food comes from, they can tell you exactly where it started. Real food just taste better. Also they have CITY WIDE delivery, and great online ordering.
Really good. Thank you for the creative vegetarian/vegan options and the ability to order half pizzas so I can try more faster. Had no problems with the online ordering system.
This place has great pizza, but be prepared to be patient with payment and delivery. If anyone reads this that is in the payment process business go help them out stream line.
Great pizza place. Take out for just hanging out after a long week. Great thin crust. Not greasy. Not dry. Better with a glass of red! Must try
This was simply excellent pizza! The ingredients used were fresh and tasty. It was only after eating my first pizza that i discovered their crust was gluten free – very impressed – i prefer it to regular wheat crusts.
Service was also great.
Village Flatbread Co. is a very unique dining experience. Though their space is a small one, they manage to create a tremendous sense of inclusion and community for every Calgarian who walks through the door. With inventive and delicious pizzas named after different communities throughout the city, the charm of the place is the first thing that gets you. Just wait until you take a bite of your pizza, it seals the deal!
I really respect the owners who have made it their mission to include everyone in the design of their menu, source local ingredients and pay their hard working staff a decent living wage. Most people today just want lots of food, cheap, and fast. That's not the name of the game here, and it's a refreshing change.
It's really hard to find a GF place that doesn't also sell non GF stuff and potentially cause contamination. They also have delicious halal protein choices that stand out above every other halal pizza joint I've ever been to. Offering vegan is always a bonus as well. I have read the reviews here and people's complaints seem minor in comparison to the huge effort these guys are making to serve so many different segments of Calgary's dining scene. Go in for yourself and see what I'm talking about, this is the kind of pizza you feel good about eating and it's the sort of joint you feel good about supporting.
I had received the flyer from Village Flatbread but never really had time to go and check it out until recently. I took the trek down 17 Avenue from my area (which is the main area of 17 Ave with restaurants and whatnot) and gave it a try. The inside of the restaurant is rather small with a single table for eating inside and a few for eating outside. I checked out their menu for a little bit before deciding on trying the Kensington. They let me know it would be 12-15 minutes before the flatbread was ready so I sat down at the table inside and waited. Not sure if it was just broken at that time, but I couldn't hear any kind of music inside so that would be a suggestion. Just beats dead silence in there.
When my flatbread came the crust was thin and crispy and was loaded with the toppings. It tasted absolutely delicious and I'm kinda disappointed that I only went for a half order instead of the full one. I've never had goat cheese in my life but the monterey goat cheese they put on here was delicious. My favourite part was probably not the chicken like they want it to be, but the corn and black bean chili. It was the right amount of spice without being overpowering. If all their flatbreads are like this then I will definitely have to come back and try other ones. I like the idea of the Richmond and the Mardaloop.
The food was absolutely fantastic! I am not someone who ever writes a review, and was so impressed I came home and immediately wrote this up. Love the menu (all items are named after Calgary communities), the crust was fantastic (and impossible to tell it was gluten free), and the flavours of the flatbreads were unique and very tasty. The restaurant is both community and environmentally conscious as well. Loved the place, will be my new go to for sure!
I went to Village Flatbread one day after just moving into the neighbourhood, and was so excited to find a place that perfectly fits my (very annoying) dietary restrictions. I ordered the Sunnyside. First note, I love that everything is named after areas of the city, very cute. Second, this was seriously some of the best gluten free crust I've had, and I've tried A LOT. So crispy and delicious without being chalky or crumbly at all. I also loved how it wasn't drenched in grease, and didn't have an overwhelming amount of cheese, it actually let the great flavour of the sauce and the quality ingredients come through. My only criticism was that the egg on top was a little bit too runny for me, the white wasn't quite cooked enough. Other than that, wonderful food. I'll be back again.
Husband picked me up from work on Sunday and we headed to Villabe Flatbread Co. for lunch. My husband ordered the Parkdale bun and I got the Richmond flatbread for the girls and I. All the meats in the bun had a nice flavor but it could use something to add some crunch as everything is pretty much the same texture inside. Overall it was good but not as good as the fantastic flatbread! The crust on the flatbread was perfectly crispy and chewy. The toppings all complimented each other and the chimichurri sauce was bursting with flavor. To top it all off the owner was extremely nice and provided wonderful customer service. They just opened recently so there isn't much seating inside yet. I can't wait to try more of the menu -- especially the salad bowls that I saw another customer pick up and their signature drinks they plan on offering soon.
Yet again another amazing experience at The Village Flatbread! Ordered my all time go to - The Aspen! Exceptional customer service and this is one spot that has been consistent with the flavours! Please consider coming to Edmonton; we have no halal options for good Italian pizza!
Best vegan pizza I had in my life, period. I loved the dough, loved their own vegan cheese (which was a generous amount, not like other place, even those famous ones), ingredients were excellent quality and you could eat all of them in your every bite (not like other places that you find one or two of the expensive ingredients on your whole pizza). You can customize each and every vegetarian and meat pizza to your liking. If you want regular meat pizza or Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, even Halal pizza, all options are available. Amazing experience, I recommend this place, was my first time but I think I will be a regular soon.

It was the healthiest pizza I have ever had if you can imagine such a thing!
Love that the whole menu was halal & gluten free. It was my first time tasting gluten-free cheese and it was different but not in a bad way.
On the other hand, the crust was dry for me.
If you are gluten free you MUST try Village Flatbread! Absolutely everything on the menu is gluten free so you can try everything without a million questions or any need for worry. It's delicious and the ingredients are all locally sourced. In fact, they take local seriously, even naming each pizza after a Calgary neighborhood! Lots of vegan options too, or create your own custom pizza. They even have take and bake options - try the mac & cheese!
One of our party has gluten intolerance, and we had recently found about this place. We honestly couldn't tell that it was gluten free, as it compromised none of the flavour.
I had the vegetarian maple pizza, great flavours all well balanced, with nothing overpowering the rest.
More than happy to go back, and will be recommending to friends.
Did a make your own pizza - vegan version. Was good. Staff were friendly
Absolutely delicious pizza! BEST GF, DF, Halal pizza I’ve ever had. Ordered the East Village pizza with vegan cheese, pineapple and side of dill sauce. Pizza was fresh, flavourful and well put together. Really enjoyed. Highly recommend
Love that I can have my gluten free pizza and my husband can have his dairy free. The gluten free crust is one of the better ones. Would definitely order again.
