Awesome little cafe. Good coffee, great baked goods and friendly service. A Sunday morning and 3 of us were the first patrons of the day. The aroma of fresh baked muffins was pretty much irresistible and I made sure to try one with my perfectly made latte. I opted to also try their house made mushroom quiche...while the flavour was good, the fact it was reheated in the microwave made the pastry soggy and ruined the joy of a good quiche. They made the same microwave choice for my brothers sausage roll that was also soggy...which is curious because they have a salamander that would do the food proper justice. My dad very much enjoyed his oatmeal save for the fact they were very skimpy on the toppings. Overall the atmosphere, service, coffee and muffin were enough to make me want to come back another day.
I love love love Bumpy's! It is hands down my favourite Cafe in the city so far. A friend suggested this place for some morning coffee and I'm so glad she did. It is a very 'in the wall' place but I love that quaint little feel. The decor inside has a little throwback vibe which is great. The cashiers are ALWAYS enthusiastic and excited which is great.
I usually order the Viet latte which is amazing and if you go there you MUST try one of their pastries. Especially the muffins. If you're luck you will have walked in right when they just came out of the oven and you will be sent to heaven after one bit. You can tell these muffins are well made with real ingredients. My favourite still stands at the peach raspberry muffin and the scones are also amazing.
All in all great coffee place for lunch, for small talk, catching up with friends.
Amazing muffins and excellent friendly service!. The cashier is always very friendly and the service is fast. They have a variety of baked goods that are excellent, especially the muffins.
Best Americano and consistently awesome service, hands down! No pretention here, you kind of feel like you've been transported to an episode of Portlandia.
This is my favourite coffee shop in Calgary! The coffee is soooo good and they bake the most delicious muffins in house everyday! The staff is so friendly and warm, they remember your order and even my name!

Located next to Beer Revolution on 8th Ave SW, Bumpy's Cafe is a quaint little diner that you might miss if you weren't intently looking for it. The interior is very whimsical and to me, feels like a cafe that comes from something you would find in a fairy tale or JRPG. Bumpy's give off a very local vibe, and the cashier was very enthusiastic.
I got the Featured Mac & Cheese, which was pretty darn delicious. It came with 2 types of cheeses melted on top, while the peppers and spinach added flavour and weren't overpowering. It also wasn't rich to the point that drags you down, and came with a pickle on the side.
My Mango Sweetened Iced Tea was not very strong on mango flavour, but was a more subtle sweetness (in contrast to something like Nestea Iced Tea). Very refreshing!
Bumpy's is a very enjoyable little cafe with comfort food and a relaxing environment. The music is loud enough to hear, but drowns perfectly into the background while you enjoy whatever it is that you want to enjoy. :)

Cute, little cafe ordering comfort food. I love its chili and butter chicken! Though it came in quite a small portion. It is our to-go place whenever we feel lazy to cook.
Kev and I discovered a hidden gem in Beltline not too long ago as we searched for a brunch place on the weekend. On a cold, snowy day, all we wanted was something to comfort our tummy. That’s how we decided to check out Bumpy’s Cafe. This little cafe was bustling with customers coming for a cup of coffee or grabbing a bite to eat. What immediately caught our attention was its emphasis on delivering home-style and house-made food & drinks. On the shelves sat packages of locally-roasted, organic coffee. All its baked goods were made with real butter, real sugar and real flour.
Great comfort food - fresh coffee.. I have walked past this little cafe and diner a number of times. I'm glad I checked it out today.
It was drizzly and cold today. comfort food was all over the menu with Beef Stroganoff and Chai as specials. I had the lunch special with a fresh cup of coffee for about $14. hearty and heartwarming, the stroganoff had dash of fresh dill which is a fresh change.

Cheaper than expected!. I always walk by Bumpy's but never actually go in because I always seem to walk by it after it's already closed. Today however, my friend and I went for lunch and were pleasantly surprised at the prices. SO CHEAP! For $8.95 I got a half panini (on homemade bread), soup and coleslaw. I was definitely happy with the quality of the food for the price. It was good café food. Nothing fancy or out of the ordinary. But for the price it was nice. Service was great too!

First Impressions. Walked into this cafe to the sound of a friendly employee greeting and conversing with customers. Noticed the decor is spectacular and tacky.
I couldn't see a drink menu while standing in line. No problem, I didn't need one but it would've been nice to see what other additions were offered.
I ordered from an ethusiastic woman, and five minutes (or so) later the drink arrived at my table. It was pretty decent--I will say that I enjoyed it. It just wasn't the best espresso-based preparation I've tasted. If you care: the latte art was horrible. But why fuss?
So far a good environment to meet with someone for lunch/breakfast or grab a solitary coffee. There are enough tables, and the dining room/bar are relatively comfy. Just don't expect Calgary's best coffee (small latte wasn't the best I'd expect). "Merely" some of its friendliest service.

Good quickie place. Good place to stop by for a coffee and quick snack. Decent food and drink quality with friendly service. My only problem is they close too early and really does not fit my schedule. I would stop by this place way more if they have longer hours.
Best service in Calgary. Period.. Very good coffee, especially espresso drinks. Staff are friendly and professional. Claire is the most amazing person I've ever been served by at any foody establishment. Super friendly. Makes my day.
Long time favourite.... Have been going to Bumpys for about 4 years now and love them deeply. I know some of the staff personally now because of my almost daily visits. They have reliable good coffee, chipper staff, (you know I mean you Clare ;) ) And they always remember you and what you like! They remember little details about your life which makes it that much more personal of an experience. I will always love you guys! :)

Muffins are so good!. Love their "all from scratch" muffins! Freshly made and tastes delicious. My favorite is their savoury muffin but it's only available on some days!

Great place, good atmosphere, amazing baked goods (MUFFINS) and super friendly, family-like service. Great place whether alone or with a friend. Plan an extra 15-20 mins to your regular coffee shop plans. I order a double of triple espresso and a muffin (or two) every time I am in Bumpy's. Recommend both.

muffins. it is all about the fresh baked, amazing muffins. I went in to Bumpy's on my walk to work and was intending to purchase a double espresso only but the muffins they had at the counter looked too appetizing. Apple spice and banana coconut are two muffins I would never order normally but I could not refuse - these looked tasty and smelled amazing: could not refuse...
Good thing for the muffins as their friendly service is at the slower pace. This is okay with me because they are working 6 folks often behind the counter that should maybe fit 3; slow and steady wins the race. Super happy, friendly and family-feel from the employees which gives me a feeling of my coffee shop at home (Marietta, GA, USA) which I am away from 3/4 of the month.
I just plan my day 20 mins earlier on the days I want a muffin and espresso - I don't want Bumpy's to change a thing other than delivery service for those days I can't stop in on my way to work - wishful thinking!!!

Not in a rush and need a place to catch up with a friend?. They certainly don't rush out the orders, but inside and out on the patio, it is a great place to grab coffee with a friend.
I am a big believer that there is a time and place for every restaraunt... this one happens to fall under my favourite category: comfort.
Grilled cheese and ketchup chips? Yes please! tea with a friend or a good book? Even better!
This is not Tim Hortons - skip if you are on your way to work. It would probably mellow you out too much anyways.

Nice quick lunch. My friend raved about Bumpy's Cafe to me years ago and how good the baked goods were. So I go to Bumpy's and ordered a soup and sandwich. Makes no sense, but it wouldn't be the first time that I would be accused of doing something that doesn't make sense. I was there at about 2:00 pm on a Saturday afternoon. Bumpy's is everything a little cafe should be. Nice atmosphere, artsy looking people working there, small and quaint, etc...
I asked the guy working there what panini he suggested and we decided upon the Rueben. It was pretty good. I ordered the half panini combo, which came with a cup of soup, and a choice of coleslaw or potato chips. I picked the carrot ginger soup (I'll soon be posting a stellar reciped for roasted carrot ginger soup). The soup was good but might have had a pinch too much ginger in it for my liking. I went with the coleslaw instead of the chips, because it looked appetizing, and it was.
Bumpy's was voted best espresso in Calgary, and from sitting down watching people come and go as I ate the meal, it really is about the coffee, so I'm thinking I have to go back for a coffee and a muffin next time. With a bottle of lemonade, the total cost for lunch was $10.75.

MMMMuffins. Stopped by for breakfast before shopping at MEC (just around the corner). Terrific latte - you could taste the espresso distinctly. Lovely fresh muffin. A not quite hidden gem.
Great! Went in for a bite to eat with a friend and grabbed two of their rice bowls. Very tasty and lots of flavour, good portions that come with your choice of side..I had coleslaw and my friend had chips. Small little cafe but very cozy and makes you feel at home. Would definitely go back to try the coffee with friends!
Great quick and lost cost lunch. I opted for a mocha today rather than my usual latte. The artwork on the foam was beautiful. The mocha was probably the best I ever had, but next time I would ask for it half sweet as it was a bit too sweet for my taste. I ordered a reuben sandwich, which came on a nicely toasted panini with thick slices of corned beef, a little sauerkraut, swiss cheese and an unknown minimal layer of sauce. Overall the sandwich tasted great and I really like the sauce they added as it gave it a little boost of flavor. Next time I will ask for extra sauerkraut. Great service and very friendly staff.
Delectable coffee, good food. Like everyone else, I agree that the coffee is a huge draw to come to this place. If you have time, grab a panini. I had the breakfast panini with sausage and the meat had good spices and flavour. I also had the reuben panini at lunch a different time, which was pretty good. Tough to get a spot to sit during peak times, though.
Great for a quick lunch. Nice panini's and a good selection of gourmet drinks, nice coffees too. Tasty soups and a quaint decor. Well above the average for a downtown lunch. Come early if you want a seat for lunch.
Great coffee & muffins. Bumpy's is one of the best cafes in Calgary. The coffee is fantastic. If you want it paired with a small snack such as a muffin or yogourt parfait, I don't think that they can be beat. The muffins are made fresh and quite often they are still warm from coming out of the oven.
That said, I wouldn't go to Bumpy's for a meal. I have tried one or two things on the menu and am not interested in trying any more.
Great hidden gem!. The staff is superb, the food excellent and fairly well priced. The coffees are beyond fantastic! Nothing beats the paninis and a latte here.

I’m not sure why or even how I even ended up at Bumpy’s Cafe but it’s like it’s hidden gem! Parking wasn’t too bad as we arrived early on a Sunday morning so there was street parking! It’s not too hard to find as there are 2 entrances to the cafe. Once we got inside, it’s a cute little place with lots of people coming and going – and a lot less customers sitting down and enjoying their morning. We sat down as it was going to be a slow paced Sunday for me. I ordered to start, a cup of Hot Chocolate and it comes in a large cup – which I loved! It’s really creamy but it doesn’t feel thick and heavy. Plus, it’s not overly sweet, so it was just right for me! We also figured they’d do latte art, so we also ordered a latte, and we were right – there was beautiful latte art!! When I use to work at the hotel, one of my favourite breakfasts was their Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Bacon so, that’s what I decided to order from here. We also ordered their Ham and Cheese Quiche which was in a pretty
The decor is a unique assortment of retro and futuristic - think Jetsons and you have the right idea. Annabel enjoyed pointing out all the things she saw "there's a clock! and there's a blue wall! and there's a lellow wall!" It's a neat vibe.
Bumpy's Cafe is one of my favourite in the city. They are winners of the Krups best cup award, for the best cup of coffee in Calgary. They have an amazing team of baristas that can do magic with the espresso machine. They have a light menu, and a pretty central location. If you like coffee like I do I would say, "Check it out".
The staff and atmosphere is great when you step in here. It is very cozy and welcoming. When you order food upfront, you will get a sign and it gets delivered to your table. The panini here is good to have and the coffee is flavourful. Pricing is decently priced for what you get - non bland food that has a hometaste to it. This is a good place for 1-4 people although im sure its possible to have more but loses its cozy feel.

Cute little diner. Good food, amazing tea latte. I had their breakfast bagel but instead of meat or cheese I had tomato and egg. Super tasty.
Bumpys staff are ALWAYS welcoming and friendly. I have never left this place without enjoying every bite of whatever I had. Their breakfast wrap was phenomenal and every muffin or baked good is delicious. They offer a low acidity coffee for those who have problems with heart burn, I would highly recommend it.
Bumpy's does a great drip coffee using their own Bumpy's blend of beans. Their muffins are awesome, and if you can get a seat to have your coffee to stay, it's a great 20 minute relaxing moment in the day. Also a good place for a one-on-one, conversation, but not for large groups. They also have a small patio to sit out on, which is nice and relaxing.

Coffee was delicious, and the breakfast wrap was quite possibly one of the best I've ever had. Simple tasty food, savory coffee, unique place with lots of personality. Might have to be my new coffee spot!
