A good little family owned restaurant.
This is a restaurant that meets par with all the expectations of a restaurant, exceeding in some factors but being brought back by others.
The dining experience is wonderful, you get lost in this thai bamboo jungle that they have created. It's not a restaurant you would just find randomly, you have to be looking for it. So when you do find it the massive set of stairs helps transport you to a different location and forget the chaotic downtown you came from. Great atmosphere and idea just some of the props seem a little used.
Food is delicious! Great flavouring and if you are looking for authentic thai cuisine (which i know nothing about) then this would be the place. Don't expect any high quality design and plating this place just treats you to what they know about. The dish ware is nice and colourful but could use some updating as well.
Overall not much to say about this place, it just is a basic thai cuisine place great for anything you wish use for. Price is mid range.

A wonderful experience with culturally rich interior that can make you forget that your in downtown Calgary.
A note: It is located on the second floor, so it lacks disability access for people who struggles in climbing the stairs.
At first the entrance of the restaurant was greeted with a dark, uninviting set of stairs. It reminds me of a haunted house.
Every time I go to a Thai restaurant, I always order a Thai ice tea and it was amazing. It was refreshing, cold and just the right amount of that oh so sweet evaporated milk. I highly recommend it.
Our first order was the calamari. It was nicely presented, cooked well, but it was bland. You have to add the sweet and sour sauce that came with it to add flavor.
Our main course were pad thai and hor mok kai, chicken wrapped in banana leaf with zucchini, basil and red curry paste. The chicken was really good that my girlfriend reminded of her food back home in the Philippines and it goes well with coconut rice. The pad Thai on the other hand was OK, nicely presented, but it lacked spiciness , and nuts which I love. The sauce could've been done better by adding just a bit more.
Overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely come back for more.

As for food, we got a plate of egg noodles, but it wasn't anything too spectacular. We also got a bowl of green curry and rice. I highly recommend getting one of the curry's with coconut rice on side. So simple but SO DELISH.
Authentic food, great prices, good service. I had a big review all written here and then lost it when I had to sign in and hunt for my password. Anyways, went with a 12 person group last night and the food was amazing. I wanted to try all my buddie's food. Very good service with water refills regular. The food came a bit irregular with some getting their dishes as other's were finishing, but they probably were not used to people ordering their own dishes and more in line with sharing the plates as they came. Overall, I will definitely come back.
Awesome Thai place. The outside of the restaurant is deceiving in that it does not look very nice, but the decor upstairs was suitable and the food was very good. Started with a Rose Garden combination ( app platter) which included chicken satay, spring rolls, stuffed chicken & calamari with three diff types of sauce, yum! Can be shared by four easily. My partner and I then had pad Thai, which was very good and we received a huge serving. All around, you won't be dissapointed.
Great Spot for Lunch!. I went here for lunch with a friend at 11:10 AM. They weren't opened, despite the sign on the door clearly reading opened from 11 AM to 2:30 PM for lunch, so we called and they assured us they'd open in 5 minutes which they did and greeted us with warm smiles. We had the lunch buffet which was superb! I just came from visiting Thailand and I must say the pad Thai, green curry and Tom Yum soup were on par with what I had across the Pacific. They also had several other dishes on offer which were all fantastic, with only the papaya salad being a little spicy for those heat adverse. The waitress refilled our water glasses regularly and the place was absolutely packed with people within 20 minutes of our arrival; a telltale sign of a great restaurant. Upon checking out the woman at the counter was friendly and engaged my friend in a short conversation about his travels. I'll be going back soon!
Great Thai Food!. We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Rose Garden Thai. The Veggie Spring Rolls were crisp and flavorful. They accidentally brought us Meat Spring Rolls initially but the error was quickly corrected after my husband bit into the first roll and knew they weren`t ``vegan friendly`` right away! Both the Veggie and Prawn Pad Thais were delicious and the atmosphere was delightful. Service was a little slow, our only complaint towards an otherwise lovely evening. We`ll be back!
I've now eaten here twice, and the food has been outstanding!
Very accommodating staff. I have been in a few times for a rush dinner before catching a show, and they have always found a way to make it happen. The food is always delicious.
My favourite Thai in Calgary. This place is great- they have the greatest authentic thai spring rolls I have tasted on this continent. The lunch buffet is fantastic. The ambiance and service are just average but I still give this place 5 stars because I really only care about the quality of the food.

Yummy. I read lots of reviews on Thai food before we went out tonight and lots talked about being authentic or not. I'm no food critic and don't exactly know what would make Thai food authentic or not (we did go rock climbing in Thailand 10 years ago and loved the food) but I do know what we ate was quite delicious tonight !!
My wife had Pad Thai and I had the chili prawns and rice. We had the deep fried spring rolls which were also quite good. It wasn't exactly cheap (came to $56 with 15% tip and a glass of pop) but the food was super good. We were also in and out quite fast tonight (went in around 6:30pm on a Saturday night) and the restaurant was about 60% full. Our server was polite and helpful, we had our food quite fast, and the food was super yummy
Love their lunch buffet. I've been here a few times before for their buffet and regular menu and found the buffet to be a much better deal. For $16.99 you get to sample over 10 items plus a good amount of fruits and desserts. Even though I haven't been here for a while, I'm adding my review now b/c a team lunch today reminded me that I really enjoy the buffet here. My favorites are always the papaya salad, chicken skewers (with peanut sauce), vegetarian spring rolls and a sweet and sticky chicken (can't remember what the actual name is). I also like their cashew chicken but didn't see that at the buffet table today. The food is generally good but you can tell it's a bit westernized. Service was decent - they refill your drinks quickly and try their best to clear empty plates as much as they can.
Amazing!. I haven't eaten here in probably almost ten years but I still remember how good the food and atmosphere was. Perhaps it has changed since then but I really want to go back the next time I'm back in Calgary!
This was my first Thai experience. I came here based on the reviews I read on urban spoon. I was expecting good food and it was better than I anticipated! We got pad Thai, garlic prawns, ginger fried chicken and the pork fried rice. Everything was delicious and the flacours were very unique. I will be back and hesistant to go to any other Thai place. I recommend this place!
Lovingly addicted!. My favorite Thai restaurant in Calgary! I crave the cashew chicken and cocunut rice all the time. I eat there often, and I also order it for takeout to eat at my desk at lunch when I'm working. Mmmmm.
Most Authentic Thai in the City. I grew up in Thailand in Lampang and when my family and I returned to Canada all we wanted was some decent Thai food! We searched high and low and finally one summer we were walking down Stephen Ave, we noticed the small entrance to the Rose Garden. We ordered all our favorites: Tom Kha Gai, Panang Moo, Pad Thai, ect. We weren't so impressed with the authentic recipes and great service we have been going on a regular basis ever since. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any individual who loves Thai and wants to have a unique night out. For spicy food lovers: don't forget to order Nam Pla!!
Great food, but poor service. My husband, sister in law, her husband, and myself all went here for dinner before a concert and thought we'd have enough time. No waitresses came by and we had to flag someone down just to place our order. Our appetizer came and shortly after, our food came. It waz amazingly tasty but they messed up one of our dishes and we had to send it back and wait for the new one. We had the pad thai, tiger cry, red curry, and cashew chicken. So good, but only go if you have time to wait.
Been here for a buffet lunch before, but decided to come here for my birthday dinner after reading a number of positive reviews. The food was pretty good and it came out quick, although the restaurant was not that busy (Wednesday night). Pad Thai was standard and good. Salad rolls were surprisingly good and the sauce was not quite what I expected. Of course it was not cheap (never expect that from a Thai restaurant), but its right on par with similar places. Recommended for the meantime.

Yummy. This place is kinda hidden on Stephen ave, once you find, you go up the stairs to find the fancy little restaurant. I went during lunch time for the buffet. I think the place is a bit small, especially when you go get the buffet items, it's a bit cramped but the selection of food is wonderful. There was a lot to choose from and the food was actually pretty good for Thai. And the people there working was so nice and was on top of things when buffet needed replenishing.
We used a living social voucher to dine here. The food was alright, but the service was very slow. It was also incredibly hot inside the restaurant (it was a warm summer night), so much so that both my boyfriend and I were sweating a lot and we could see that the other guests were clearly hot too. Overall, it was an OK experience, but we probably won't return.
The Best Thai in Calgary!. We discovered this place about 2 years ago and fell in love! The dishes are soo delicious. I have tried many restaurants in Calgary and Rose Garden's dishes always remind me of the food I ate while in Thailand. A Downtown Gem. If you work downtown then you need to go here for the lunch buffet, it is one of the best places downtown. You will have to make a reservation to get in on any day of the week or do what we do and get there for 11:15, but don't be any later. The food is very fresh and the service is very good. On top of all of this it looks very cool inside with the huge statue.
Amazing thai food. Cutest restraunt. From the outside, Rose Garden Thai looks like quite a dodgy thai restraunt. Going up the stairs doesn't promise much more. There are soo many decorations, but some how, instead of making it tacky, it just makes it cute and quaint. The owner who served us was very cute and polite. English wasn't great but he was very friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic!! For those of you who was 'authentic' thai food, don't get your hopes up. Wasn't overly spicy but more westernised. However i loved it. The spring rolls were great, the green and red currys were extremely tasty and the mango juice is awesome. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants thai food! Soo good!!

Best Thai food!. This is AMAZING!!! Possibly the best Thai I have ever had. The Pad Thai was DELICIOUS, a little greasy but still tasty. The summer rolls were to die for, the pineapple curry was one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten and the papya salad, although it wasnt as spicy as I have previously had, it was tasty! The food came out quickly, and it is making my mouth water just talking about it! If you want some Thai food, you have to go here!
Regular customers. We eat here fairly regularly (once every few months) and they have never disappointed on food or service.
The lunchtime buffet is excellent value for money (if you can get a seat, it's very popular!) and has a good mix of veggie and non-veggie dishes.
My only minor quibble.. I wish they would replace their rickety plastic terrace furniture! Eating inside is great, with comfortable furniture and interesting decor, but eating outside in the summer is pretty uncomfortable.
Delicious, fresh Thai food. I haven't been to EVERY Thai restaurant in Calgary, but so far this place has the best food hands-down. Everything tastes fresh and homemade, bursting with flavor. I go as often as I can, and almost always order the pad tofu long song, the peanut sauce is amazing and the coconut rice perfect.

Best place in town. My GF and I are huge fans of Thai food and so we have tried a variety of places in and around the calgary area. After trying all of them my brother had recommened Rose Garden and after eating their once I'll never go to another thai restarurant in the city. Their portions are enormous and the pricing is well valued. Give it a shot, you wont be disapointed.
Delicious. We had a party of 12 for a birthday party. The birthday gal even got dessert.. Service was efficient. Love the atmosphere. Food was excellent. Only thing was that one of our group ordered a dish fiery hot, and it wasn't. So he supplemented it with a dish of chili.

Wonderful! This reastaurant deserves a whole pile of stars. The service was attentive yet not overbearing. My server seemed to know just when I needed something, despite there being only 2 servers and 12 tables of customers. The Bankok Pork Saray was tender, tasty, and melted in my mouth. O almost ordered a second serving! The sauces were delicious. I had the Spicy Beef Basil Stirfry, with coconut rice. The flavours Were out of this world. Yet not overpowering. I had a Singha beer with meal and a pot of green tea to wrap it up. Next time I am in Calgary I will definitely bring my wife. A great spot for a date or a family dinner! Kudos to the owners and staff!

Veggie Friendly!. I came across Rose Garden while in a hunger fog. By the look of the other reviews, I really lucked out. I didn't expect much of the "stir fried vegetables" and "Peanut tofu" that I ordered,as I haven't had a lot of Thai food.
Dear god I was wrong! The veggies came in a light soy(?) sauce with Thai basil, still crisp but not raw. The tofu was pan fried on a bed of spinach with an awesome peanut sauce on top. And when the spinach wilted from the heat of the tofu (but didn't cook into a slimy mess) something magical happened.
The waitresses were awesome, constantaly refilling our water and being helpful with the menu. I expected some of the dishes to have shrimp paste but the waitress said "o no no! It's for vegetarians!" I was in awe, as vegetarianism seems to be up there with string theory when it comes to most Calgarians. The dining room looked awesome with tropical thai decor.
A meal for two came to $35.00 with tax and tip. We even had leftovers to take home. I'm definetly adding this place to my regular rotation!
Great for Lunch Buffet!. I love the papaya salad and mango sticky rice dessert! Their curries are good too. For $15 it is great value for a good lunch.
Very good lunch spot. When you're in the mood for Thai buffet for lunch, you can hardly do better than to come here. Without reservations you should aim to miss the lunch rush and get here before 11:30 or after 1. The buffet is not huge but most of the dishes are good to very good with only some being mediocre, like the chicken on skewers. The service is always pretty good and the price is fair.
Possibly the best Thai in Calgary. This place is great in every singe way; nice decor, wonderful service and AMAZING food. Everything we ordered was delicious and made with good quality ingredients. We didn't have to wait long for the food and the servers were friendly and returned many times to top up our water and see how we were enjoying our meal. The favorite dish at our table seemed to be the chicken with cashews but everything was outstanding and I wish that I could have sampled the whole menu!
Miss this place. This place is really good. Highly recommend it. I try to go there everytime I visit Calgary. I used to be a Calgarian, and that would be my favourite Thai spot. I'm in Regina now, and I think the Thai dishes here are crap. The prices are over $10, but it is very worth it.
Love the food although I think they can revamp the dessert as the selections are a bit boring.
Rose coloured glasses. This has to be the best Thai restaurnat I've ever dined in. The staff are attenative, beautifully dressed and plesent.
The aimbience is wonderfully Asian.

Awesome little niche on Stephen Ave. Amidst the flashy restaurant frontages and fancy bars, you'll find this little thai restaurant, perched above Stephen Ave (just go up the stairs from the entrance). You walk into a space adorned with all kinds of thai/Buddhist paraphernalia (don't ask me if it's authentic, I don't know). You're also welcomed by a lovely smell, and a friendly person who guides you to your table. It's not a fancy restaurant, but the food's well-presented in nice dishware and pretty pots. My husband and I just went this week and enjoyed the Sweet Green Curry Prawns (mild - I wimped out that night), some kind of beef salad, coconut milk soup (with chicken, mushrooms, etc) and finally the sticky rice with mango for dessert. My curried prawns were delicious (and not overcooked) and there was indeed mild heat to it (just nice when you don't want fire). My husband's beef salad surprised us both: it was more of a "beef & vegetables in very tasty sauce". Plenty of beef (good!) and nice shredded carrots, possibly cabbage (I can't remember exactly), celeri, tomato chunks... it was very tasty. The sticky rice with mango could've used a riper mango (it was too firm) and maybe more creaminess to the rice (or maybe other places have skewed my view of this dish), but the warm sweet rice was tasty nonetheless. People behind us were enjoying some crispy spring rolls & stuffed chicken wings - smelled very good. Prices seemed reasonable for the quality & quantity of food - we'll be back!
Favourite lunch location. Great lunch buffet. Always crowded. Make reservations and if you really want to be there, double check the reservation a day before. I have been stung twice when I made the reservation and arrived to be told it was missing. Good buffet choices and good quality food. Very popular.
Best Thai in the City. Food: 5/5 - Very generous portion sizes for mains that we all needed to take our leftovers home to savour. Pad Thai is amazing. As is the Chicken Curry with cashews. Much more on the menu to explore. Guaranteed to go back multiple times.
Service: 5/5 - Absolutely warm and inviting. Hard to get service as nice as they were. Even helped to try and pronounce dishes in Thai.
Decor: 4.5/5 - An amazing structure dominates one side of the dining room. Adorned with a large Buddha, it sets the mood straightaway.
Ambiance: 4/5 - The staff, coupled with the very nice pots and silverware make you want to head to Thailand to see how the truly authentic experience will be like.
Bang for $: 5/5 - Truly worth the hassle of parking downtown. Highly recommended.
We randomly walked in on a Saturday stroll with no expectations. We are definitely coming back. Food was awesome. We had all vegan options. Loved the green curry. Service was fast and friendly. Recommend!
Great little place on Stephen Avenue mall in downtown. Really great Thai food for a reasonable price. I had the panang curry with chicken and coconut rice and it was really good while my wife had the tom yum gai and fresh spring rolls. Friendly Staff and the food came out really quick. Would eat here again.
Love the location downtown and the atmosphere was great! Food was good - we were a big party, so we ordered a lot of different plates to share amongst eachother. We ordered a good handful of different noodle dishes and they all kind of tasted the same. Portions were decent and prices were fair.

One of the best experience ever🫶🏼 The food was deliciously flavourful. I ordered many times from DoorDash and every time it gets better and better. It’s never a disappointment. I love Thai food and tried many….lol ok “all” restaurants in Calgary and at this restaurant you can get yummy authentic Thai at a reasonable price. The owner is an exceptional person that managed his restaurant and employees to deliver exceptional quality and service. I highly recommend! 🥰 😋🫶🏼👏🏼Hands down the best!!!!🙌🏼
