This place has amazing BBQ! The food is delicious, and the staff are super friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend this place for awesome BBQ!!
Ordered the platter for 1 person but the larger version which we split between 2 people. The mashed potatoes are super good, the grilled corn was pretty standard. The BBQ sauce they use is way better than Hayden Block in my opinion. The pulled pork and grilled chicken were also great. The brisket was not my fav but my partner liked it. We added on cat fish for $7 to our platter. It was okay but I have never really liked cat fish so not the best judge. My only thing is that the food was a bit cold when it arrived? Not sure if the meat is not suppose to be hot when it is served? Also parking is hard to find, as there is only 3 stalls infant of the place, you have to park on residential streets and a lot of them say permit only. Overall will come again
Every time I come here, I make it a point to try something different off the menu. I have yet to be disappointed. This is absolutely one of my favourite places to eat out.
Chicken and waffles is all I had and all I'll ever need. Well, not really. Hoping to try more of their menu. The chicken was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. The waffles were ok, but it's the sauce that I fell in love with. Sweet and hot, plus I added some of their BBQ sauce. I'll be back soon!
I was looking forward to trying a new BBQ restaurant in Calgary. The interior of Jane Bond BBQ is definitely very inviting - from the lovely decor to how incredibly friendly the owner is, you instantly feel right at home. I decided to try the Smoked Brisket with Coconut Cornbread and Baked Beans and Corn as my sides ($15) while my friends both got the Pulled Pork ($14) with sides of fries, creamy coleslaw, and onion rings (add $1 for onion rings). Service was very attentive, but it did take quite a while to get our food. Portions were quite generous. I have to say I was a little disappointed with the brisket - it had a nice flavour but was a little too fatty, and the exterior was verging on burnt. The pulled pork, however, was absolutely delicious - tender and flavourful. My favourite of the sides were definitely the fries (which I think were double-battered) and the onion rings - both really, really good. Being something of a cornbread addict, I was a bit disappointed with the coconut cornbread - it was overdone, dry, and had very little coconut flavour at all. The baked beans were alright, but I prefer it when they're slightly sweeter. Unfortunately the coleslaw was just weird: way too much mayonnaise (my friend didn't finish hers). Overall, it was fairly tasty, and I'd definitely recommend getting the pulled pork with fries and onion rings.
This place is just great. My friend and I went there on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy or loud. The ambience is great and the service was very friendly and attentive.
We ordered brisket and two extra sides at $1 each. Which is nuts because the amount of side you get is a lot.
My favourite things were the BBQ sauce, bacon wrapped corn and coconut corn bread. I could have eaten about a dozen pieces of corn, it was that good. The corn bread is genius! It is sweet and not dry at all. The macaroni had a smokiness that was so unique. The beans were good but I was missing a bit of sweetness.
We ordered the peach cobbler for dessert and let me tell you... I would go there just for dessert. It was amazing. If you go there you must order it. Plus they serve it in a mason jar. Super neat.
Ordered the brisket meal with mac & cheese and coconut corn bread. Came out to $16 and took a while but dang was it worth it !
The brisket was flavourful and barely needed bbq sauce, the mac &a cheese was made with real cheese and tasted amazing. I was initially worried about the corn bread (being it was a coconut cornbread) but it tasted amazing and the coconut blended well with the cornbread flavour !
Coming back for sure !
Came with a groupon because everyone told us to come. Now I have spent a good chunk of time in the Southern US and I'm up on the BBQ. Maybe for Calgary standards this is good BBQ?
We got our take out order, but also ate in, had the ribs and nachos, with sweet tea ... or I guess that is what they refer to as sweet tea. I wish they had dry rub ribs. Just regular corn bread, better sweet tea and more choices for BBQ sauces. it was OK. However the nacho's were kick ass, they were incredible. I would come back for those bad boys. I see a lot of comments with amazing sauces.. but ... it's hard to compare when there is nothing really in Calgary to compare it to, only a handful of BBQ places.. Head to Tennessee and tell me what you think. Meh like I said. OK for Calgary. Good deal with the groupon.
My wife and I had just received a menu for these guys in the mail last week so we decided to check them out. I am so glad we did! The food was amazing! I had the bond burger and my wife had the chicken and waffles. Both dishes were very good especially the burger, which was recommended by our lovely server. It had smoked brisket and this sweet and tangy house BBQ on it. An instant classic! I needed to try the jerk chicken because it looked so good and the sauce they had on the table smelt dynamic. The server suggested that I get a piece on the side. Not to mention the epic Caesar that was an entire meal on its own. I am going back for sure and me and the wife are going to put this place high on the list for places to go when we both don't want to cook. 10 out of 10. Nice work Jane Bond!
Really cool restaraunt, beautiful decor and friendly staff. I ordered take out as I had a groupon (thankful for the Groupon as I would have never heard of the restaraunt otherwise). We had the combo 2- BBQ chicken (incredible so juicy and so much flavour !! It was blackened but not burnt), pulled pork (so juicy and delicious), beef brisket (pretty good overall some pieces were slightly dry) and 2 sides: mac and cheese (delicious and a great touch with the coconut cornbread crumbled on top) and coleslaw (crunchy And tasty). It was a great meal. I feel for the size it would have been expensive without the Groupon but with the Groupon I felt that it was priced right. Would love to return and sit down to eat - especially to try their $16 Cesar it sounds amazing and like a meal all by itself.
Ordered takeout here at work for lunch one day. Got the bond platter. The sliced chorizo is spicy but not too bad. The bacon wrapped corn is very tasty and the corn is nice and sweet. Pulled pork melts in your mouth and has great seasoning. The coconut cornbread for dessert is a great finish. Would definitely order again.
Thanks to groupon for finding me this place. I have been to Jane Bond numerous times now and i havent had one thing to complain about. Great savings with the groupon and delicious food such as the jerk chicken, and their house sauces are to die for, very drinkable stuff.
Personally my favorite side has to have been the baked beans and mac and cheese. There is still plenty i want to try on the menu so i will for sure be coming back.
Also, they have just opened up a pretty sweet eatery which serves up some really awesome specials daily.
Check it out!
I've been waiting for a place like this! Nice rustic comfortable decor and a very relaxed vibe. Love it! The food is real deal BBQ! I've been all over the south and tasted all kinds of BBQ and this is as authentic as it gets. If you've been looking for something special that you can call your little secret, this is it. My prayers are answered :)
I loved all the food. I got the pulled pork with the bacon potato salad and bacon wrapped corn. I also got a side of mac and cheese which was incredible!!! My boyfriend got the parfait which was also amazing. The house made barbecue sauce is unreal and I would definitely buy a bottle of it. I really can't say enough great things.
I had the BBQ brisket with bacon wrapped corn and coconut corn Bread. Bbq brisket was amazing. Couldn't ask for more. Corn was good but needed a bit more flavor to make it just right. Coconut cornbread was good but the coconut wasn't the best thing to add. jalapeño corn Bread would really set it off. Over great food for the price. Will be back
Dern near the best jerk in town. ate that jerk til it was slick as a ribbon. tender as a judges heart. Dam good! Great service/ hospitality
Interesting little spot in a gas station plaza, where you'd least expect to find a Q joint. It's takeout only. I suspect it's under new management. I just have to say that I'm a Q snob, I've been all through Texas, Weezie, Missisip and Tennessee. I know good Q.
Overall the food quality isn't bad. It's definitely homemade. I had the brisket with bacon wrapped corn and the potato salad. The sauces are from scratch, but there isn't enough of them -- tiny little thimbles that amount to barely a teaspoon. The BBQ sauce isn't very authentic, it's honey and ketchup based and could use some more heat. I suspect the brisket isn't the signature item though it's the most expensive thing on the menu. The corn was brilliant and the potato salad was tasty but needed more zing, I found myself adding salt. The pickle was pathetically small -- if you're going to give me a pickle, make it a good one. I make refrigerator pickles at home and it's not exactly rocket science.
Minor criticisms, though. Overall, portions were substantial and prices are reasonable. It was a good lunch. I'd like to go back and try some of the other items like catfish which you get everywhere in the Southern US but rarely in Canada.
UPDATE: She's changed, she's not in the gas station anymore, now on 17 ave SE. It's more of a full sit down thing and a bar. It's nice. And nicer. The food is still good. The place is beautiful. She's awesome. Thing is now we're on 17 SE and we've got some serious food on this road--and booze. $12 drinks aren't going to cut it. I like it. I like the people, just not sure it's in the right part of town--and she knows me now, I'm not hiding
Great little spot! Personally, I highly recommend the BBQ Parfait, the Hush Puppies, the Southern Sirloin Steak Bites, and the Hoagies. Everything is great, though! :)
LOVE IT! The hoagie is AMAZING!!
My friend got the jerk chicken which I thought was really great too. I am really impressed with this little place!
Excellent! Just discovered this BBQ joint takeout. I had the catfish, beans and bacon wrapped corn with cornbread - perfect fish... The price is low and the portions are perfect. Jenny is really friendly and made it a great experience. I have sent 4 co-workers over and all have the same response. Thanks again - see you soon!
Great food! Had the jerk chicken on Friday with sides of corn bread and potato salad and was amazed at how good the food was and quantity for what you pay. My friend had e poutine and it was pretty awesome too!
Definitely going back to try more food.
ABSOLUTLEY WORSHIP THE PULLED PORK! Poutine perfected!!!
Absolutely delicious. Moist meat right to the core. Homemade fries with fresh gravy topped with a Mountain of cheesy goodness! Best hangover food EVER!! Life blood.
I rate this establishment 7/10
Great food for a great price.
Staff are great!!

I've eaten at BBQ Jane's about 6 times now. Price is amazing for what you get. The mac and cheese can be hit and miss. Sometimes it's too creamy for my liking, but the pulled pork cheese toast is a knockout every time. I usually grab a few random orders when I have visitors. My 19 year old nephew liked it so much he went back every single day he was in town. I recommend everyone try it at least once!
It is a take out/delivery only place. I would check out their menu and then order ahead as there is not much room for waiting. I had the fried pickles, BBQ rib tips with mash potatoes and Mac n cheese on the side. It was all reasonably priced and sooooo tasty! Best pickles EVER!! So glad it is in the neighbourhood! Will be back! Friendly service as well.
We were running all kinds of errands around here, and were SO hungry! We came to the right place. The second we walked in, the delicious smell of BBQ took over. That and the superb music selection.
The woman who served us was awesome; she explained the menu really well and made everything sound amazing. Ended up getting the Hangry Plate, to try a few different things. It was all excellent!
The beer collaborations they have with local breweries are great, and what’s a better pairing than meat and beer?
Amazing! The atmosphere is great, service is incredibly friendly, and the food was fantastic.
You can tell they've cultivated a great work environment for their staff because they were all very nice and joking around.
The meat was so good. We ordered the Family Feed platter with an added 1lb of ribs. I'm not a meat expert (lol) but this is probably one of the best BBQ places I've been to in Calgary. It was seasoned well and came with a selection of 3 sauces.
I definitely recommend checking out Jane Bond BBQ!
I found this place because I dropped my car off down the street to get some work done. I was headed to Tim Hortons but I really wanted somewhere I could sit down and get a drink and some real food, I couldn't have stumbled into a better place!! The decor is amazing, I got kind of a beachy surfer dive-y vibe and I love it. Super unique for a place in Calgary!
To drink I ordered the Bourbon tea cocktail and it was delicious. I got the second one in a taller glass because the first one was a little strong for me, but it was reeeeally good!
For food I got the BBQ bun with brisket and I must say, I was intimidated by the ingredients on the bun! (Onion rings, pickles, Cole slaw, and brisket on a bun together?! Idk....) I am not very adventurous with food, but I am super glad I tried it because omg it was amazing! I actually got a fork and ate the stuff that fell out of the bun. I highly recommend it!!
I had the opportunity to meet the owner and her wife, and I must say they are amazing. They provided me with incredible service and I didn't even know they were the owner and wife until I had a one on one chat with the owner after my meal. They are great ladies, not only will I tell everyone about this place but I'll definitely be back! Try this place out, you won't regret it.
Thank-you for the wonderful food and experience!
It was my first time here and I was not disappointed! There's lots to choose from but we chose a platter so we could try a few things out. Everything was delicious and just as good leftover the next day! Was quite surprised at the selection of take home items as well! Can't wait to come back and try some different items.
I came here for my birthday with some friends.
Very friendly staff, and pleasantly accommodating to group needs for a group of 8!
Try out the platter - it’s great! The one thing that I would say I would have loved is having some honey butter for the corn bread…
Took my mom to Jane Bonds for lunch a couple of times and enjoyed every morsel! The smoky, tender brisket was amazing and the coconut corn bread is to die for. It was so good, we also did take out for the rest of my family to share all the goodness! I love the atmosphere and feel of the place and surely can’t wait to go back!
Chef Jenny brings the 🔥 to this restaurant- personality-wise and also through the evident passion in the dishes! The service was very informative, helpful, and friendly because I had no idea how to make a choice between all the scrumptious items offered.
I particularly enjoyed their Mac & cheese and Crawdaddy (crawfish)! Wash it down with a refreshing beer or their own branded tenessee sweet tea (mildly sweet) and it’ll blow your tastebuds out of this earth.
