It was our first time there. The experience was wonderful, the food was fabulous and our server was friendly and very knowledgeable about the food. I will and have recommended it to my family, coworkers and all my Facebook friends. Great place!!
If your a meat eater this will be your favourite place to eat. We can't get enough of it, we have to control ourselves or we would eat there every day and brunch on weekend, craving it right now. We alwYs start our meals with the Andouille sausage (so good and spicy). Mac and cheese with andouille sausage and chicken is to die for. Oh and my all time favourite EGGS BENNIE on warm fresh cornbread.... Yes cornbread, absolutely delish... Lots of southern Bbq's mmmm mmmm mmmmm can't say enough about it.
We eat here close to once a week sometimes and the food and service is amazing. The staff is always friendly and helpful and we have never had a disappointing meal. You really gotta eat here
It's an annual tradition to bring the extended family to Big T's on my brother-in-law's birthday. We look forward to it with watering mouths. Fried pickles, hush puppies, Big T's platter, and Elvis platter fills up all 13 of us. In between the yearly visits, I'll come for something simple like a gutbuster.
Went last night for my birthday and we live way out by the airport but it was definitely worth the drive! Great food, great service, great prices and friendly patrons all around. Will be back again soon!

The best ribs I have had in forever! I love the southern flare and was overly excited for real ice tea and fried green tomatoes! We will definitely be returning.

Just a quick note of thanks from my wife and I for taking such good care of us the other night. Best meal I've had in weeks, and great value for the dollars spent. Will *definitely* be back.
Kudos, guys...
Got there at 6 and had to wait an hour to get a table, but it was well worth it! Delicious food! Cant explain how amazing it was! Must try!
Delishes Caesars!! Servings where huge and the food was very tasty!! We will return!!
We recently had dinner with close friends at the Deer Ridge location and thoroughly loved our experience. Although familiar with the brand and product (from the Calgary Farmers Market) it was our first time to the Deer Ridge restaurant. The decor is simple and rustic, fresh and clean. Staff are helpful and friendly. The place smelled amazing and we were quickly salivating while waiting at the bar for a table. Busy place. Enjoyed our visit and the food immensely. We will return!
Had the 2 meat platter. Pulled pork with Brisket. SC mustard BBQ sauce. Killer. Then topped it up with the Chess Pie. WOW. Never had it before, but I'll
Have it again.
My daughter took me here when I visited her in Calgary recently. We ordered the Big T's Platter. The food came out relatively quickly and was not disappointing with the brisket being the exception (dry). It was a lot of food for $80.00. We ate what we could and then packed a few large containers to take home. I would definitely eat/order from here in the future and hope that a franchise comes to Edmonton soon!
Came here with a group for a birthday celebration, and we all enjoyed the food. Everyone ordered something different, and the portions were surprisingly large! Our only wish was for them to take reservations, we had to wait 50 minutes just to get a table! Otherwise, it was an enjoyable dinning experience.
Very decent BBQ. Really large portions.
I had the the deep fried pickles to start which were really good. Crispy outside and not soggy at all, which I have found happens a lot of times with other pickles. They give you about 7 large spears for $12 which is a good size. It comes with a creamy ranch like chipotle horseradish dipping sauce that was really tasty.
I had the prime rib beef bones. You get 4 large dinosaur-esque bones, a piece of cornbread, and 2 sides for $30 in this meal. The ribs were very good. They weren't fall off melt in your mouth type bones like I've experienced elsewhere (even Tony Roma's has a little bit more tender), but I enjoyed them. Cornbread was just ok. It was dry-ish even though it felt spongey and bouncy to the touch. Fries were hand cut and yummy, I used some of the different BBQ sauces for them and thought they paired nicely. Especially the sweet hot sauce which I forgot the name of now, but it had a sweet very spicy flavour. I also got the spicy coleslaw which was REALLY make your nose run spicy (still totally enjoyed), and had a creamy vinaigrette consistency.
My date had brisket, baby back ribs, smashed potatoes, and dirty rice with cornbread. He enjoyed it as well but said the level of Yum was not the same as his last experience there. I tried the brisket (good but again not melt in your mouth like I've had before at other places), and the smashed taters which were nice.
Overall it's really quite delicious and I would return for a special occasion.
The food is good. Favorite is the brisket or chicken and waffles. We recently tried the platter for 3-5 people and it was great, made it easy to order for the whole table.
Service can be hit or miss, when it's slow the service is great but when it's busy it can be slow service. We've waited for 15 minutes before anyone came by to take a drink order and we had to flag someone down, even though we saw waiters taking time to talk to other tables. Maybe they were understaffed that night? We still go back, we just prepare to wait a little longer than usual for service if during peak times.
I thought the BBQ was pretty good at Big T's. The brisket was lean and properly smoked. The bun was fresh and the hushpuppies hot and perfectly done. Overall my Sliced Brisket sandwich was on par with most good Texas BBQ joints, which is saying a lot. A Southern Wrap was also enjoyed. We started off with some onion rings, which at $9.25 are expensive, but the home-made rings were again, about as good as you could get and very enjoyable. A Thursday special Long Island Iced Tea was pretty reasonable at $5.50. My only complaint is that for lunch, you are basically limited to pulled pork or brisket sandwiches and a few wraps. Anything beyond that and you are up into the supper pricing. There is no 2 meat plate at a reasonable price for lunch or any of the other lunch combo plates that typically appear on BBQ joint menus.
We'll be back.
I bumped into this place quite at random and didn't realize it was on "You Gotta Eat Here". I arrived at 1930 on a Saturday night and it was pretty quiet in there. Hopefully that wasn't a sign of what my experience was going to be.
I was promptly seated at the bar and left to browse the menu. Lots of variety on the menu... Everything from sandwiches to ribs of all shapes and sizes, chicken, and even some greenery. I opted to go with the 2 meat meal and ordered brisket and meatloaf for my two meats ($23).
Brisket was very tender but served cold. Tasted great with the original BBQ sauce. Meatloaf was a bit dry (also tasted great with the original BBQ sauce). Mashed potato was piping hot and veg was crisp. Cornbread was yummy (I like my cornbread on the dry side) and had good texture.
Service was great (they were quite overstaffed) and I'd say I got good value for what I paid. Can't wait to go back to try the chicken and ribs.
Really impressed with the food. Briscuit was excellent. Sauces are great. Hush puppies are delicious. Will be back! Staff friendly!
Wish I lived closer!
What can I really say? Everything off the menu is fantastic! Ive had close to everything off the menu now, and I havent been disappointed once. The Cold Smoked Bourbon Cheesecake is to die for. I am addicted.
We really enjoyed our meal! Our only drawback was that we were seated at a very small table and are a family of 4. We made it work though. Food and service was great. We'll go again.
Quality BBQ all around the city and now in the SE. Only complaint would be they are short staff at times but even then it will not disappoint.
This is the closest thing you'll get to southern barbecue, I found this place on a cooking show now I can't help but think of this place 24/7. You get three sauces there that are out of this world, and they also have to die for food.
With the expansion of Big T's BBQ into the south they bring a great spot to compete for your meat cravings. Probably the best thing about this location opening in the corner of Deer Run is the offer of a reasonably priced, quality meal. At a price point of $11 to $15 for a BBQ sandwich, it's difficult not to be tempted to return day after day.
The brisket is tender and juicy on a soft bun. This is my go to meal. However the main menu shouldn't be ignored. Primarily the ribs are a decent deal at $22 (half) to $28 (full) with some really flavourful rubs.
Of course they have housemade sauces for sweet and hot palates as well as a special mustard for more zing. Top it off with a wide selection of sides from fries, hush puppies, corn bread, dirty rice and more and it'll definitely satisfy the hungriest customers.
My partener and I went for the lunch menu. For 11$ I got the beef briscuit/potatoes and gravy and he got pulled pork slaw sandwich/potatoes and gravy. The briscuit was tender and delicious. Pulled pork was also good, though we both preferred the briscuit. The sauces provided are all homemade and are very good and flavourful. Service was good and put food came fairly quickly. The lunch menu is a great price and I will be sure to return.
Love this place!! Decided to check out the restaurant in Deer Ridge and exceeded my standards, excellent service, speedy and the food was fantastic! The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere overall is enjoyable!! Will defiantly be a regular here
Awesome food, awesome service, but $12 for 7 deep fried pickles is a bit harsh
A welcome addition to the neighbourhood. I'd heard from others in the neighbourhood that there were line-ups at this place during the week for lunch so we decided to give it a try on the weekend. My husband ordered take out. He ordered the beef ribs with spicy sauce, potato salad and beans. I tried the original ribs with corn bread and coleslaw. It didn't take long until both meals were done and the dogs were out back chewing on a beef rib bone. We were both really pleased with the size of the portion, the tenderness of the meat, the side dishes and most importantly the taste! We will be back again for lunch and dinner.
Awesome service!!!! Great food! Love the atmosphere! Love the catfish poboy!!!!
