The French toast is fabulous - like a peanut butter, banana, raspberry jam sandwich for adults - delicious!

Great little diner. The atmosphere was very cozy. Breakfast (eggs benny) had some surprising twists that showed some imagination out of the kitchen. Perfect place to meet an old friend I hadn't seen in years.
I love the Beltliner. The food is always great. Especially the chicken and waffles, the chicken is ridiculously good, as is the country gravy. The specials are always awesome too. I go back as often as my budget allows.

Great food, eclectic decor and fantastic service. Brunch menu has many choices. The bill arrived inside a board book donated by the public library. We will definitely return the next time we are in Calgary!
Amazing egg bennies here. I also love the unique stacked hash browns they do. Everything tastes fresh and is bursting with flavour, and the service is fantastic as well, every single time I've been here. The interior has comfortable seating with lots of space, with lots of fun quirky decor without being cluttered. Very diner-inspired, but with a clean and modern twist. I'd highly recommend this place if you're looking for a brunch place downtown.

Beautiful Day off. Long walk. Decided to try this place. Had intended on Salmon Bennies but went for the Reuben. Amazing perfect Reuben. That the the wine and the service Can't wait to come back bravo. Go enjoy
Consistently good breakfasts here. Big fans of the eggs benedict (all of them) & the french toast. Lots of options on the menu for meat eaters but also vegetarians. Flavors are impressive. Often quite busy when we are there yet the food comes out in a timely manner. When we've asked for changes to our order it's not an issue & the food always comes out how we've asked for it. Appreciate how the staff are consistently attentive and polite even when they're very busy.
This place serves the craziest Caesar. We ordered one with perogies. People at other tables had burgers on top of theirs. The hashbrowns which came with my smoked salmon benedict, were like layers of potato chips pressed together - very crispy and tasty.
Only thing I've gotten on the menu is the chicken and waffles + chicken noodle soup and I've been multiple times. Their chicken and waffles is different than any other I've ever had, it's my type of comfort food. Only thing to keep in mind is the parking!

This bustling modern diner has a relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Many interesting items to pick from the menu, being our first time there we ordered three to taste and share: West Coast Toast & Eggs, Mushroom Egg Benedict and the Chicken & Waffles. The sourdough bread that came with the West Coast was so incredible tough that even a knife wasn't able to cut thru it. Messy dish because everything was falling off the sourdough while trying to cut and cut and CUT it. It was a decent dish but disappointingly tough bread. The eggs benny came out way overdone than what was ordered. Why bother asking how we like the eggs poached if you are going to serve us fully poached where the yolk was solid. Besides that, the dish itself was tasty and the hashbrowns were unusual and interesting. They were cut into thin layers and piled up then fried in a triangular shape. The chicken & waffles- wow, was enough to feed 2-3! The chicken was deep fried perfectly, crunchy, moist and golden brown. There were 5 pieces on the plate, so more than enough to share, and same with the waffles. The white gravy added a nice flavorful touch to the chicken. Overall breakfast was good and enjoyable, though I wouldn't make a special trip just to dine here.
I've been here for brunch and dinner and they were both delicious and affordable. They also have a great selection of homemade pies to choose from
The smoked chicken wings were fantastic! I was here on a weekday evening and it was a chill atmosphere with very good service. I will definitely be back to try the chicken & waffles.
The fried chicken and waffles were excellent! Coupled with breakfast booze... It's going to be one of my top go to places in downtown in the morning.
This is the place I go when I'm craving for chicken and waffles! No other places in Calgary makes it better. It's no fancy recipe like the food truck, its simplicity at its best! The waffles are super fluffy and the aroma of the buttermilk and the eggs still hits you strong. I especially love the fact that the fried chicken are boneless so you can actually enjoy a bite of the waffles and the chicken TOGETHER without worrying about bones. I think that's how it should be done. The chicken is crispy and juicy, never did it ever come out dry whenever I ordered it.
Went here for breakfast with my girlfriend.. Fantastic little diner, right on 12th ave. You get a nice view of part of the Calgary skyline, and it has a really cool vibe inside as well. The food was quite good, and the service was great as well. Would recommend for a nice breakfast out !!
I love the style/decor, the coffee is great, food is flavorful, but a bit dry for my dish which was the mushroom benedict, it for mention having truffle oil in it but I couldn't taste it, which is probably better than tasting too much of it.
I have always wanted to try this place and we were looking for a pet friendly place with a patio to have some brunch/lunch. I called ahead to confirm we could attach our dogs to the rail and the lady on the phone advised it would be a 20 min wait. When we got there, we were sat right away.
I had the mushroom Benedict and the mushrooms were greatly flavoured, eggs done right (soft). I subbed the hash browns for a salad and the vinegarette dressing was good except the lettuce was drenched in it. I'd probably ask for light dressing next time. My man had the fried chicken and waffles and he really enjoyed it. Friends had the clubs sandwich and grilled cheese, both thoroughly enjoyed it.
The service wasn't attentive at all. The waitress forgot my coffee and never checked on us. Waiting to pay took a long time too. Overall, it's a decent place if I was in the area but I wouldn't specifically drive down to eat here.
Came here for dinner this one night because it was pouring rain and we didn't want to walk any further. We walked into a lovely cute diner style restaurant and greeted with friendly staff. It might not sound that special but I highly recommend the meatloaf. It was almost like eating a really good shepherd's pie!
Love going here for breakfast/brunch and lunch. For weekend breakfast I recommend getting in right when they open to avoid waiting in line. Great coffee. Love that they have root beer "on tap." I've tried a lot of the menu and it's all been good: eggs benedict, ricotta-stuffed french toast, club sandwich, grilled cheese with tomato soup... Love it all.
Any place that serves breakfast all day already gets extra points and the Beltliner never fails to deliver. Usually I have the eggs Benny but today I had the Apple & Carmalized Onion Stuffed French Toast. If you're drooling, that was my reaction too. So so good. It's a lot of bread but very tasty.
The Beltliner is a great brunch choice! They serve bulletproof coffee (if you're into that kind of thing), always have a delicious blue plate special, and their hashbrowns are unreal. If your meal doesn't come with them, I highly recommend you order a side!
I finally made it out to The Beltliner for brunch! I came with a few friends (A, C, K, and N) at about 9:30AM (no wait required of course). I ended up ordering the chicken and waffles (crispy thighs, buttermilk waffles, and white gravy), A ordered the lobster mac and cheese (fresh Atlantic lobster, fusilli, cheese curds, mornay, and a side of arugula salad), C ordered the Blue Plate Special (cheesy grits with a chorizo ragu, and toast), K ordered the Beltliner benny (bacon, sun dried tomato, fresh basil), and N ordered the mushroom benny (charred leeks, shallots, and truffle oil).
Packed on a Tuesday night! My friend and I got the chicken and waffles - DELICIOUS! The portion was generous and taste exceeded our expectations. Classy with a dash of a retro diner feel (root beer floats, pie, grilled cheesies) Love it! Will definitely be back to try their brunch!
Service was good. Resto was packed! Great array of choices. I dig the diner feel and vibe. Food took a bit longer because they were so busy but that's expected. Eggs Bennie was well done. Love the hash browns being different. There could've have been a little bit more mushroom though just saying. Hollandaise sauce was nice. I'll go back for other plates next time.
Been here several times. The creme Brûlée French toast is completely amazing. The lobster Benedict is awesome. You could go just for their hashbrowns alone. Highly recommend.
My friends and I came here a couple weeks ago, and I thought every thing was great! I got the mushroom quiche which I thought was delicious, and the service was great. Our server was super friendly and made small talk with us while paying.
Went here for breakfast on a Saturday with a friend - I had the mushroom benny and she had the creme brûlée french toast. I also had a cappuccino. It was all delicious, the service was great and our water glasses were always full. I would definitely come back here again!
I tried this spot awhile ago.. Right about the time it had just opened. My friend was looking for waffles and chicken and had heard of this place so we decided to give it a go. I have had good waffles and chicken ... In the US but invariably was always let down when I tried it in Canada. I don't remember exactly what the price point was but I don't remember thinking it was ridiculous. The service wasn't bad, we were seated pretty quickly and I liked the layout. I came for the chicken and waffles and that's what I ordered. It did not disappoint. The waffles were delicious and I remember thinking I could eat this alone as it's own meal and not be disappointed, it was buttery and sweet but not overwhelming, and the gravy complimented it well. The chicken was tender but crispy and just delicious. Most people aren't but I'm a stickler for good make syrup and it didn't disappoint. Overall it was a delicious meal and would get it again.
Went here for a late brunch last weekend and was thoroughly impressed by the hostess who was managed hordes of hungry people very pleasantly and professionally. We were served some incredibly delicious coffee from Fratello's while we waited, OMG so delicious, and it was a comfy wait in the lobby of the hotel next door. The food was so so good, plenty of options no matter what kind of mood you are in, and these guys do a really nice upscale kind of twist on classic diner fare. The food wasn't greasy or heavy, and even though they were so insanely busy, the servers were pleasant and the food came quickly. Totally worth the wait!
The Beltliner is the sister restaurant of its neighbour, Taste, and promotes itself as a modern day diner, with an emphasis on traditional diner fare with some creative touches. The pork belly bowl was prepared to perfection, with generous pieces of tender pork belly that melts in your mouth, and a fried egg that pairs nicely with the flavours in the rice bowl. You also can't leave without trying the waffles, which I would argue is the true star of the menu. Made to order, this delicious buttery piece of goodness is only made better with a touch of the Quebecan maple syrup. Worth the long waits during busy times just for the waffles alone!
I had the Beltliner burger with fries today and a cup of the house blend (from Fratello- this place has a serious coffee program, which is so, so great to see at a restaurant that's not primarily or even secondarily a coffeehouse). Coffee was insanely huge- thought I'd ordered a "medium" but this thing must have been 24oz. Great bean though. Fries were just about perfect and devastating with the ramekin of mayo I asked for- this should be standard, a GREAT condiment for Belgian style fries. The burger is ridiculous- it is MASSIVE with two nice crispy flat top patties. I'd actually have liked it with one patty, or to have had that option, because it's almost impossible to get your mouth around this one... and hmmmm I'm not sure if that counts as a complaint. Big food, good service, a great addition to the Beltline!
Fantastic atmosphere, solid service with a smile and the whole menu is just excellent. Whether your hungover and devour a chicken & waffles or health conscious you won't go wrong here for brunch.
Went here for dinner with some coworkers and I was (maybe embarrassingly) charmed by the drinks coming in little mason jars. They had a good selection of local beers, although only one on tap (show pony). I like the decor and how pretty everything looked at sunset. The food was pretty good but nothing amazing, which is perfectly in like with the updated diner feel they're going for.
I hear it's even better when you come for breakfast!
Come here in the evening no line ups but fantastic food. Two of us had the chicken and waffles. Had a good spice to it, batter was a little thick but still enjoyed it. We tried the veggie lasagna which was FANTASTIC, would definitely have that again. Our other friend tried out the pork belly salad, wasent to bad, but not a dish that he would come back for again. Overall staff were great, food was awesome, atmosphere was a good change from the trendier spots. Seems to still be a yyc hidden gem.

Do yourself a favour and get the Chicken & Waffles. They're calling out to you on the menu. You want to get them. Just go for it.
The Beltliner has become my unofficial spot for the summer of 2015. I've gone several times and each time the food has been satisfying, it's been easy to get a seat and it's been a chill place to have a meal with a group of friends.
Obviously I'm a fan of the Chicken & Waffles. I'm a sucker for the savoury gravy on the soft and crisp waffle with a dash of syrup. The boneless chicken has always been a delight with a think and crunchy skin. Some have argued with me that the skin and batter is too much, but if you like a fulsome fried chicken, I think this dish may be for you.
I've been pretty satisfied with the menu items outside of the Chicken & Waffles. Also loved their starters like the assortment of deep fried pickles with a really crunchy batter and assortment of delicious dips, as well as the warm biscuits paired the cup of salt and savoury gravy. The Hangtown Fry is pretty great with a generous portion of scrambled egg at the bottom and topped with a rich fried oyster and creme fraiche. The fish and chips had a couple of small fish on top of actual chips which was interesting, but slightly underwhelming. I also thought the Oyster Po-Boys were a bit smaller than I expected them to be, despite being a really good concept on what looked to be a fried oyster slider. Everything was still good enough for me to keep coming back.
The other thing to try and resist on the menu is the house-made pies. There's an assortment of pie choices they have exclusively in house and you never know what will be on the menu. We lucked out and tried a really interesting popcorn pie concept and while the texture was interesting with the popcorn and the flavour was nice and rich, it wasn't my favourite pie ever, but it was a memorable dish that I'll tell people about.
The Beltliner is a fun place to go, with fun servers who deliver the bill in kids books, it's difficult not to smile while there. It's one of the spots I easily recommend to friends for a reliable meet-up experience.

Love this place, food is great, I got the eggs Benedict, delicious and the potatoes they serve with it, amazing. The atmosphere is super cool. It's a little small so we had to wait like 25 to get in, but worth it for sure. Little pricey, but you have to expect that being downtown. Really enjoyed it. Only 4.5 because our server was meh. Great place !
I have had the pleasure of visiting the Beltliner Diner multiple times and thoroughly enjoyed it every time. As a new establishment, it has been fun to watch it evolve and improve with each visit. Highlights are the fantastic staff, the fun and unique decor, and the creative menu. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention their coffee as well.
Regarding the food, I have enjoyed trying the various items for both breakfast and lunch but not yet dinner. The Fritatta was quite good and the Pork Belly Bowl very enjoyable while the Hash Browns are one of a kind and a must for breakfast. And it appears that the staff are not afraid to adjust their menu based on feedback. If you are just looking for bacon and eggs for breakfast, perhaps you might be underwhelmed but if you are interested in something off the beaten path, the Beltliner Diner is worth a visit.

I enjoyed my meal. But, left unsatisfied as the portion was small. The dinner menu offers some interesting choices but nothing which really stood out to me. I feel that I may have made an error in trying it for dinner and will have to revisit it for breakfast as the menu appears much more appealing at that time of day.
Really enjoyed this restaurant! All the staff were really friendly and happy. The frittata was very good and the space is bright and open. Will be back
Awesome food great value. This was excellent dining - the service was a bit slow but it was Friday long weekend first week of opening so I give them all the credit for making it work. The place was packed and buzzing. Chicken and Waffles with a hint of dill pickle - yum - ask for the gravy on the side. My husband had the hang town fry - really different and unexpected. I'd like it to come with toast and fluffier eggs but still unique. A few flaws, but understandable. I'll definitely be back!
Great breakfast and atmosphere!. I've been really looking forward to the opening of the Beltliner for a long time since there aren't many breakfast and lunch options in my neighbourhood. Came in on a Wednesday morning so I was sat right away (I bet the weekends are going to be that annoying "wait for 45 minutes for eggs" lineups). I'm so glad this place is around! They've done a great job. Menu looks great, classic breakfast was delicious. Housesmoked bacon and homemade hot sauce? Yes please? Coffee that's actually roasted! Yes please! Great environment, PERFECT music choice- chill and not too loud, big bright windows. All good!
As long as this place sticks to the basics, continues to deliver on good food, doesn't get too cocky and raise their prices because they can (the curse of the restaurants who start off well and then take a nosedive) this place will be around for a long time. And I'll be back again and again!
Very modern, very nice breakfast place. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and all the touches are present.
Latte was among the best I've had. Jam was fresh in house made. The hash browns can be upgraded to pave (layered potato roasted and cut into triangle wedges). The chicken apple sausage is made in house. They have a coffee flight sampler where you can pick three. All in house personal touches that make a place so great.
Everything was on point. I will be back for breakfast next time I'm in Calgary.
Modern diner in downtown Calgary. They have a team of very nice and welcoming staff. The food is tasty and presented very well and the beverages are simply delicious. Also have a small patio. Definitely recommend this place.

Busy place but still accomodating. Best breakfast I've had in a long time, hands down. Both myself and my friend had the Cilbir and were raving about it for days after. Highly recommend!
The food here was delicious and the service was decent. They have a couple of patios on each street and they allowed dogs on the patio which was nice. I ordered the Happy Hour fries and chicken wings which I enjoyed. I also order the Pineapple Blond Ale and I am not sure if I misunderstood but the it didn't taste like pineapple at all but did come in a nice pineapple glass. Beer was good just no pineapple flavor.
