I stumbled upon this coffee shop early morning (8am) and got a top-notch americano and breakfast sandwich. No sugar or cream needed, great baristas.
Ive had coffee all over the world, the best ever being in a small local farm in the high mountains of Costa Rica in #Monteverde... Analog is the only place that have come even close in quality and taste.
I have traveled North America. You not only have very good coffee, but you have very good customer service. Love your new SouthCentre Mall Shop. Yesterday, one of your baristas apologized for making a wonderful soy latte without a perfect heart. It's an art and I love it when it happens, but I love it even more when someone takes the time to say that they wished that they could do better. It's a new shop. I believe that I will get the perfect looking latte. For now, I am very satisfied with my #localYYC experience.
amazing staff, great atmosphere. The food and coffee were great, just the place to meet up with friends
Great coffee. Love the vibe. Good people. Also serve quality food. Sounds normal? This place exceeds my expectations!
My morning stop. The staff usually know what im ordering before i even get to the counter. Tastey food. Friendly people. Great cappuccinos.
Friendliest baristas ever!!! I LOVE this place. It goes without saying that their coffee is incredible but the vibe here is also amazing. Amazing team, amazing coffee (and yummy pastries too)!! P.s. the Guatemala is my fav coffee roast.
It's this magical place where you can create and connect the best way.
Love the beans, bartistas & location! Super hip spot filled with all types from the Calgary community. Everyone there is enjoying the vibe Analog brings to the block.
I live in Europe and I'm still searching for a cup of coffee like Analog's!!!!
Analog, best coffee around. Keep roasting those beans!
LOVE this place ! Totally my go-to for best coffee in town.
I'd be lying if I said analogs isn't the best coffee I've ever had !!
Great staff, great location and great coffee ! :)
Great location and vibe. Wonderful atmosphere and so relaxing.
This place is exceptional. Really nice people well. Tried several coffee's here and loved them all
This spot in Calgary is on par with the best coffees spots in NYC, and I've been to all of them! Just wow!
Quebecer here, and I LOVED it at Analog, amazing coffee, great staff, lovely environment! And I love the Big A haha!
The best. The atmosphere was lovely, service wonderful
If you want to start your day on the right note, Analog needs to be your first stop! Quality service, quality coffee and all the trimmings - these guys are doing it right.
I come to visit friends in Calgary a couple times a year and I love stopping into Analog Coffee Bc the staff is always so friendly and the coffee/tea and desserts are always spot on.
Best coffee in Calgary! Great food. Wonderful people.
Best latte in YYC! Plus they made an adorable bear on my son's hot chocolate.
Delightful staff, great location and yummy coffee and baked goods! I'm a regular hehe
Sip on a spiced chai tea and bring a buddy with you! Analog coffee is great the ambiance is open concept with lots of lighting and the staff are energetic and friendly with a smile that is infectious! Parking as with anywhere in the downtown and surrounding region is a bit of a challenge but well worth the warmth in every cup!
Really yummy latte (: macaroons were good too. Nice location and I enjoy the atmosphere. Workers were friendly and interesting to speak with.
We were looking for a coffee spot to hit up before heading back home so I suggested we check out Analog Coffee. I’ve passed by this place many times while perusing 17th Ave but never stepped inside. Always plenty of people sitting outside working and people watching. I didn’t realize they have 6 locations across the city now. Crazy. We came on a Monday afternoon and the place was packed.
It's a trendy and busy coffee shop. Coffee is very good, people are energetic, have outside area toward the street. I also like their almond croissant. It's difficult to find really good almond croissant in town though.
Great spot for a coffee to either sit and relax or for a walk down 17th Avenue. Great fresh brewed coffee, The snacks are great as well. I do enjoy people watching on the patio, Try it. .
Wasn't too excited to go here, seemed like a hipster hangout, since every time i drove by, i see people sitting there with their macs sipping on coffee. Coffee turned out really good, I was quite pleasantly surprised. I've been here atleast 20 times this summer, and have never been disappointed. I only gave this place 4/5 because it's pretty small inside so it's tough to get a seat. On the plus side though, there's a nice park across the street, if you don't mind the bums that come strolling through.
Analog Coffee on 17th Avenue is the flagship cafe of Fratello Coffee, the famed Calgary-based roaster. I love this hipster cafe! We ordered the soy latte, hot chocolate and mocha, which were tasty. Besides coffee, Analog also offers freshly baked goods including cupcakes, cookies and breads. Beware though: seating may be limited because Analog is VERY popular with the crowds. The baristas are very friendly though, and will accommodate your needs.
Cute little corner café. Very limited seating inside and the outside has some wobbly chairs that almost force you to leave in record time. The coffee however makes up for all that. Served as a double espresso unless a single is requested. Their service was good and their staff very friendly. Prices are reasonably and the interior of the café is very laid back with a modern twist.
Absolutely love Analogue Coffee! It's the perfect spot in the city to meet up for a coffee date. Their coffee is really well done - I prefer the single shot, else the taste becomes too burnt and bitter. Their service is really quick, and they always make sure to call you by name. Only down side are the wobbly chairs and limited seating! But it is a great atmosphere and I will back :)
The most hipster experience in Calgary is Analog Coffee on 17th Ave, serving coffee roasted by Fratello roasters. But thankfully that also means, the best coffee. Although you can't buy any of the hundreds of records on display, you can savour their delicious V60 pourover, the best you will find in Calgary. One plus is they are open til midnight!
Finest spectacle of hipsterism meets more hipsters. Can't complain too much: coffee is good, food is edible, and you can observe people with 99 problems but being cool ain't one. I say, "bring me my pumpkin spice scone!"
By God above, it has been long overdue for this review! Analog is probably by far, my favourite place for coffee in all of Calgary! The classic combo of a classic macchiato with a glass of ice water and an almond croissant is a tried and true combo with me, and always goes down smooth no matter what! The coffee is oh so smooth and well rounded, that you'd swear that you've sipped water from a divine fountain above. I've tried each little thing on the menu, and I love each and every single thing about it!
The only thing that I can say that really hindered Analog a bit was the closing of Corbeaux Bakehouse, which put a bit of a damper on them. But Analog stood strong, and sprung back with grace!
Another thing that I must give full credit to Analog for, is being an amazing part of Calgary's up and coming urban and metropolitan coffee culture, which is really shining through. And Analog deserves big props for that as well, which especially makes the five well warranted!
Warm and friendly reception with a bustling yet cosy atmosphere; love the decor and the drinks are delicious! The prices can be high even for a trendy cafe supporting local businesses. The cafe itself is quite small so seating is very limited. I still love it and would recommend it to anyone!
Loved this place! The staff was nice and knowledgeable they answered all the questions I had and the coffee was really good. The wait time wasn't bad got threw the line quickly and got my coffee and food fast.
One of my favourite spot in Calgary. Always so busy, but you will get a great cup of coffee. Their coffee is worth the travel.
Wish they have more tables…
A cappucino and vegetarian sandwich will cost you 15$
But damn, it's a good sandwich and the cappuccino was extremely smooth, I didn't even need sugar.
My favourite coffee in town. Always busy and social in here. Will continue to return and for nice coffee is reasonably priced I think. Recommend you go here
Analog's got quite a distinctive flavor when it comes to their espresso drinks. They use their own Fratello roasts and their beans are very fruity/acidic and has thick body. You will either love it or hate it. The baristas are usually very friendly and they will love answering questions about coffee. It's a must location to visit in YYC if you're a coffee lover. Only complaint I have is that this place is usually packed full everyday and it's hard to "chill."
Beautiful coffee shop! The latte wasn't the best I've ever had but it was definitely good! Loved the overall look of the place (makes for great Instagram pictures 😂)! Prices are comparable to Starbucks
Analog is hands down our favourite coffee place in Calgary. They use Fratello beans and their method of preparing the coffee means that it tastes delicious. Their food selection isn't huge, but it tastes great. We usually go there just for the coffee anyway. We've lost track of the amount of times we have been here. It's consistently rated as one of the best coffee places in Calgary. Don't skip going here!
Best coffee in Calgary! Centrally located. Cozy. Usually busy but I've always found a seat. Not many varieties of desserts but again this cafe specializes in coffee. Analog coffee is also sold at Corbeaux bakehouse which has food and desserts too.
Undoubtedly the BEST expresso in Calgary. I can not get enough of this place.
Friendly service, amazing ambience, attentive coffee makers and an overall great experience for the consumer.
If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favour and check out this place. There is no such thing as a bad coffee here.
Analog coffee is a local success story that follows the journey of a coffee stall with modest beginnings at a farmers market, to the coffeehouse that has become a staple of 17th Ave's food scene. From the freshly roasted beans, to the delicious pastries that they offer, Analog has created a cozy niche for itself that invites both mainstream and hipster cultures to enjoy their experience at this cafe. One minor piece of feedback for their coffee was that I would have preferred a stronger natural tone of the bean, as I did find it to be slightly less powerful than I was expecting, but this could be remedied through the addition of an extra shot of espresso, and just reflects a personal preference. Try pairing a latte with a Nutella shortbread cookie, you won't regret it, definitely a local favourite!
My usual go-to around-the-corner coffee spot. Great coffee, great food. Unfortunately I'm almost always stuck ordering to go, it's very rare that I go there and been able to find a free seat.
Also I wish they'd put prices on the baked items in their counter instead of leaving me to find out how much stuff costs at the till after waiting in line for so many minutes. Just like at Corbeaux down the block there's a massive board for their drinks prices but for some reason nothing easily-viewable for their pastries etc.
I love this little hipster place, even as someone who isn't one. It's cozy, intimate, and the coffee is great! Great for a date place or to catch up with friends, and if you can score a seat outside in the sunshine, you'll be one of the lucky ones people watching on 17th Ave!
My favorite coffee in town! Service is friendly and prompt and i have yet to be disappointed. Love the vibes and hope that they pull out some of those records again! Fingers crossed!
Great service, fun atmosphere and delicious coffee. It definitely can get busy at times but that's part of the fun as it's on 17th Ave. Perfect place to grab a coffee and sit outside on a beautiful day!
We ordered a mocha to go, but really wanting to go back and chill there! Very nice coffee shop with somewhat high ceilings from what I recall. And the staff was super friendly.
Nice cafe off of 17th, I like the coffee here. The place is well kept and pretty clean. I like that there are tables outside too. My only complaint is that it's so busy and people with laptops hogging the tables inside all day long that there are no places to sit, ever.
Favorite Cafe in Calgary! Love their coffee, tea, lattes. I really like their decor and the atmosphere. Usually really busy so it's hard to get a seat and also it can get very loud.
Pourover coffees are mind-blowingly delicious and I love their cappucinos. Frankly, the prices are competitive with other "third wave" cafes in Calgary and the product is better.
I haven't sampled the food selections extensively, but I've yet to be disappointed by anything, although they were still sourcing their sandwiches from Sidewalk Citizen (I think) last time I ate there (I think they're from the neighbouring Corbeaux Bakehouse now).
Great coffee and super fun decor. It is always quite busy but it is still a nice atmosphere. My order is always correct and delicious. I have never had a bad experience here.
Really enjoy their coffee. Only had their batch brew because that's what I usually drink. Aromatic and smooth every time. Have not had a bad cup since becoming a customer at Christmas 2013. Service is friendly and prompt: Well, the batch brew is a virtual no wait product. The others such as steamed coffees requires a bit of a wait because of the cafe's popularity.
There is a display cabinet with really good looking fruit danish and an outrageous grilled cheese sandwich. Must try sometime. :P
Casual ambiance and loads of interesting clients to people watch. Decor is a dose of nostalgia from the 50's & 60's. Prices are higher than most cafes, but worth it.
Good, not great.. The drip coffee here is some of the best I*ve had in Calgary, but the espresso is a bit lacking. Caffe Beano nearby is much cheaper and Phi & Sebastian*s offers a customer loyalty card ontop of having better espresso. All of the Analog pastries are from Corbeaux, so it*s actually significantly cheaper to just walk two doors down and grab something at the bakery instead of paying the cafe mark up.
The staff here have personally always been polite to me. However, I have had many friends and coworkers -- some of these people being baristas -- complain that the staff were rude, some of which to the point where people demanded refunds.
Bottom line, drip coffee is great, espresso drinks are pricey, quality of the staff varies.
I can't get enough of the Sundrenched Chicken Sandwich or the peanut butter cookies. I'm in heaven whenever I eat one of those. I buy my beans here and occasionally get the poured over coffee to go. I tried the espresso recently but it was awful. I've had espresso in Vienna and I just don't think any North American cafe can top Viennese espresso. Analog's is too sour and astringent.
Lovely coffee and pastries. I loved their nutella cookie! Also really enjoyed the environment and also watching them prepare the coffee. Coffee was worth it and I will definitely come visit again
Joy. This is one of my new favorite places to go,I enjoy going here even when i'm alone.
Quality coffee, sidewalk citizen baked goods & an awesome ambiance. What more do you need from a coffee shop? Open a location in NW Calgary please!!
Second visit in. Better than the first time: because I always enjoy this space, especially when seated with a friend. It is a beautiful conversion from its original space, as a corner store--totally redone to the t.
But worse because the espresso machine was broken, and although the pour over coffee (can't recall which bean) was delicious I was disappointed I couldn't get a cappucino. But life goes on.
It's nice that this beautiful space is associated with one of our great local roasters.
I think they even have a water jug now so I don't have to ask for a glass everytime. Or maybe I just imagined that--in which case, they should!
Best coffee I have found in Calgary!. I love coffee and when I discovered Fratello Analog it was an immediate hit! Pour over coffee that blew my mind! It's a long drive for me and I still visit often, and great beans to brew at home when I don't have the time.
Great modern styled Coffeeshop. If you are from Europe, be sure to order your coffees traditional style for a really strong one and exceptional taste. Fast and friendly stuff too. A bit pricy, but the best coffee in town in my opinion.
Trendy nice place to meet friends if you can find seats!. Trendy place with decent coffee. Small and always crowded, not easy to find a place to sit unless you go early in the morning like when they open at 7AM! Otherwise it's a nice place to meet friends or to do work (very bright place, great for reading and doing work!)
Very nice about coffee and interior.
Great coffee. This is my go-to place for americanos while I'm at work - they are consistently well-made and tasty. It can get very busy, and the waits for drinks can be long (compared to some other coffee places like Artigiano), but it's always worth it. The space is really cool, and they always have yummy baked goods & sandwiches from Sidewalk Citizen.
Great coffe and pastry. I finally made there and I was NOT dissapointed. Being originally from Europe I was missing a real coffee and I found it. Also, pastry they offer is to die for! Unfortunatelly Analog is on my way to my gym. Here we go! 1 more hr of cardio! Can't say no to their goodies! Very nice coffee and pleasant interior.
Now thats how u make a coffee! And the staff are awesome! My new rdgular! Love it!
If this place didn't have great coffee and cool interior design(which it does) I'd come here just for the staff, consistent, charming and knowledgable.
Congrats Analog!. Been by 4 - 5 times since it opened - so far it is consistently GREAT for both taste and service! I love that it's local & they use Sidewalk Citizen too. There's some other great coffee available in this area, but it will be the service that sets the winners apart - hope they keep it up at Analog.
Looking for a great coffee?. Then get yourself to Analog! I've had a couple of coffees, one which was decaf and a chai latte. All rivaled my personal barista's creations which says a lot since he's Mr. Perfectionism when it comes to making cappuccinos. Loved the quick and easy in and out access.
And boom, fratello suddenly matters.. I didn't want to like it... Like a Mac fanboy at a Surface launch party, I wanted to hate it. I'm a P&S guy, through and through and I've flexed my coffee snobbery pretentiousness more than once by scoffing at Fratello's attempts to compete.
But they've done it. Their SO espresso simply kills it... which puts them into the category of legit 3rd wave roasters in my books. I haven't ventured to try their pour-over bar yet, but that's just because I haven't gotten tired of the espresso.
This is a landmark for Calgary.
Unbelievable! Absolutely the best in Alberta! The Ethiopia Konga Single Origin tastes like a blueberry muffin in a cup! Great eats from Sidewalk Citizen, the staff is incredible and the buildout genius. P & S is good, but Analog is great! Well done!
Coffee Done Properly. Analog has hit the nail on the head with their new Cafe. The space has been quite well thought out and is a pleasure to enjoy your cup of coffee in. Beans are courtesy of Fratello, a local roaster and are exceptionally prepared through a Slayer Espresso machine (Arguably the best in the business) or manually for the non-espresso coffee.
Had the Single Origin Ethiopian Espresso on opening day. It was the perfect texture, density, and temperature to bring out a great variety of flavour.
Their House Blend "Godfather" in a traditional Machiatto the following day impressed me just as much.
Their fastidious approach to their drinks and cafe are matched only by Phil & Sebastian it's nice to see a cafe that treats their craft so seriously - especially down on 17th avenue. The staff and management are quite welcoming and knowledgeable, this place is poised to do quite well.
Finally. Waited a long time for a serious café on 17th. They really brought it with this place - great ambience, great music, the best espresso anywhere with their Godfather espresso.
Love the ambiance, decor and the coffee is teriffic!
Gorgeous location, fantastic coffee. I'm familiar with Fratello as I go to the farmers market location, so I was happy they were opening a location on 17th not far from my work. I am VERY happy with the improvements they made to the building (seriously the Buy Rite Grocery store was a dump).
The coffee is great, the layout of the cafe is finally done in a proper fashion so you can walk in/out without having to push past people. The decor is great and love the lights.
Oh and the coffee is delicious. I had a sandwich and it was tasty but the bread was a little too crunch for my taste. Overall I will probably be a regular here which says a lot considering there's a few other great places to get a coffee close by.
I hope they introduce a frequent drinkers type card. Would be nice to be rewarded for bringing them repeat business ;)
