We first tried this place via takeout on doordash a year ago and it was very memorable. Great presentation and even better taste, and we’ve had a ton of sushi all around the world. Tonight we decided to go in person, it’s a tiny hole in the wall place but the atmosphere is really cozy and welcoming. Would recommend booking in advance as there were less than 10 tables.
The sushi is even better at dine in, and the dishes were presented so aesthetically. Because of the smaller place/crowd, the dining experience feels more intimate and the staff takes time to chat and explain dishes to you. We will be going back for sure!
We ordered a few platters of sushi for takeout during fight night, and wow!!! The flavour combinations mixed with the freshness of the sushi was a game changer. I would highly recommend giving’s Big Catch a try. Big thumbs up to the chefs and will have to try dining in next time.
Love the friendly service, even if it is just for pickup, and the personalized notes can’t help but make you smile :) The nigiri and sashimi are fantastic and highly recommended. But the oshi rolls (the square ones), while beautiful, are not well balanced with too much rice, which doesn’t allow you to taste the lovely toppings. We’ll be back to try their other round rolls and fill up on their amazing sushi and sashimi. Highly recommended!
This sushi is delicious and meticulously crafted. The team at Big Catch apply the Aburi technique of searing the sushi, creating something new and exciting when it comes to traditional Japanese fair. The presentation, and the food was filling, and I enjoyed the shiro rice that uses a red vinegar in its composition. Looking forward to my next dish from here!
Very pretty and finely made sushi that looks like art. Made with care. Tasted fresh and on point. Portions could be more but for Calgary this sushi is up there.
Always an amazing experience here. The service is super friendly, plating is beautiful and sushi is always fresh and tasty. It is fairly small though, so I suggest making reservations.
What a great place for sushi! Limited seats so definitely recommend a reservation for dining in. I think the server said they only do dine in a few days a week and the rest is takeout. Very reasonable prices and I've honestly never seen such beautiful presentation in my life. Small menu but they do it right! Fresh, artfully crafted, and you order on your phone like you would online shop. Very cool! You have to check it out if you're in the area.
The sushi quality is fantastic, the sashimi is very clearly fresh and great quality. Really, all the ingredients are, the rice, vegetables, are all super fresh. They have extreme attention to details, and the notes are adorable.
The ordering system through their website is extremely easy and functional, it's super slick.
And the service was also great as well.
Will absolutely be coming back! =)
