Been here twice now, and the food quality has been fantastic both times; really brings home the authentic taste of the 牛角 franchise from Japan. Prices are reasonable, the portions are solid, and the staff is quite friendly. Highly recommend reserving a table during prime time, but it's even better after 9pm because two can dine for $50 (and lest we forget $15 pitchers of Sapporo).
Me and my friend had the Happy hour lunch set menu. Lot's of food and very filling. Our server Yuki was awesome too! Will definitely be coming back again and in.
Great job! Gyu-kaku Calgary team. :)
Wow! What a great experience! I LOVED my server derrick, he was charming, observant, and not to mention quite a good looker! The food was nothing short of amazing! Definitely will be back for more :) I would not get barbecue anywhere else! 11/10 would recommend!
Excellent food and great service. Our server Mami was extremely helpful by giving us instruction of the duration of BBQ per item.
Really tasty food! My group was stuffed when we were done. Service was great when I went and the floor manager came by which was really nice. I highly recommend making a reservation, we got there exactly at 5pm and almost didn't get a table.
Our group got the meal for 10. The food was wonderful. There was almost too much of it to fit on the table. The leftovers I ate the next day were still delicious. Would eat there again.
My group went here Sunday evening for the dinner special and it was amazing. We've been to other BBQ places in town that were really terrible so we were skeptical. Made a reso on open table and had no issues when we arrived. The food was fresh, the cook plate was hot and the staff was very attentive.
We will definitely be coming back and telling our friends.
Love the service there! Our girls dinner made extra special by Aaron the owner. Thx again!
Was just looking for somewhere to eat before going to the airport and decided to try this--so glad I did! The food was delicious, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be going back next time I'm in Calgary.
Amazing food and service! Highly recommend this restaurant

We were there for my son's bday and it was his idea to try this restaurant out and we were not disappointed. Our server was Eric and he was the Best! Explained the meal in details gave some recommendations which we took him up on. The food as excellent came quick and just the right amount. We over did it on the appetizers but were able to take some home. We will definitely be back and we hope to see Eric again. Keep up the great work you all do there.
The presentation was delightful, the staff was friendly, prices were very reasonable, but most importantly the food was absolutely incredible. Live in Red Deer but will make sure to stop by again in the near future.
A very nice place to celebrate special occasions.
Excellent food.
Been here twice. I really enjoy the food. Brought my kids here on the second visit and they really enjoyed their udon noodles. Service is friendly and prompt.
A little on the pricy side if you are selecting premium meats, but the flavour and tenderness of the premium is well worth the addition. Melt in your mouth beef, porks with the perfect amount of fatty goodness. A few tips...ask the server to replace your grill too often...add extra oil on the top for that sizzle...and make sure not to toss the meat down before the grill is the right temp to prevent over cooking. For some reason our server kept turning out grill down... kept messing up the flow. Surprisingly the beef tongue was pretty good. Texture of back bacon or a thicker cut of ham. Marinade for the meats were spot on. Fun times around the bbq.
We frequent this place for lunch almost weekly. The food, lunch specials and service are what keeps us coming back. One thing I really like about this is the ventillation of this place, most bbq places leave you reaking like food, Gyu Kaku doesn't. Reservations are a must as I've seen them turn away walk-in patrons. Good value and great food :)
Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ is located on 6 Ave SW downtown Calgary. It was my “N” times having lunch at Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ, but it was my first time having food at Calgary location. Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ has three locations in Vancouver and one in Calgary. The one I’ve been is in Calgary. The same as before, I have ordered lunch combo – Beef Tofu pot with salad. The price of the food was a little bit more expensive than Vancouver locations. The salad was fresh and the taste of the salad was the same as other places. The tofu soup was different from other locations. The taste was decent, but I like Vancouver more. In summary, the food in Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ was OK. Not very excited. Miss Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ in Vancouver.
This is an great place to come with a group of friends as you are cooking your meal around a grill in the middle of your table. The concept is virtually identical to the more common Korean BBQ with the exception of Japanese sides, different meat marinades and Japanese sauces. I found the ventilation wasn't perfect so if you wear glasses be aware that you may have aerosol from the cooking oil deposit on the surface of the table and your glasses. They offer a huge menu with a la carte options and BBQ combos. I will be back to try some of the other combos but I get the premium meats combo the last two times I went and it was excellent quality with way more than enough food to fill your stomach.
Never give such a high rating but if you love bbq and you love flavors this place Is for you. Never have been disappointed here. Been about 4 times. Always great service. Their dumplings are awesome. Their bbq meat is very good and consistent experiences here.
Been there a few times. It's ok, nothing special. For this kind of barbecue, the grill needs to be changed quite often, otherwise meat is very easy to be burnt.
Fun place to visit with friends. The meal is very social. I traveled to Japan a fee years ago and this is the closest I have found to the bbq there. The meats are tasty and you cook them at your table. The sides are also good. Great drinks specials too. Make sure to have a reso. as it is busy
Was here on a Friday lunch, booked on Open Table. Lunch specials are $10 and we all noticed that the meats in the dishes are relatively smaller. Sad.
Drinks were yummy. Food was good but still ended up being pricey. Would have liked more rice to be included. Wouldnt go bak prefer korean bbq.
LOVE this restaurant!! Service food and location! Tons of meat and veggie options and healthy food options and a really fun experience. 5 stars!
Only realizing now that Gyu Kaku is a Japanese BBQ chain.. Having already visited the location in Vancouver on Nelson St a few years back. This visit was on a whim with a strong carnivore cravings.
This visit was on a Saturday evening and the place was bumping, luckily we didn’t need reservations nor was there a long wait to snag a table. Our server was very informative, she was keen on describing the menu and differentiating the set meals vs ordering off menu. During dinner service she was sure to be near to keep an eye on our grill and refills. Great energy from all staff.
First time visiting we had ordered off menu, this visit we opted for the set meal “Premium Meat Lover’s” - ($75) - for anyone and everyone who loves higher quality cuts of meat, apparently. This set was labeled “for 2” but could easily pass for 3. We left overly stuffed and with leftovers!
Gyu-kaku salad - ⅔ - Eggs were way overcooked. Yolk was powdery dry.
Miso Soup x2 - 4/5 - Classic and not overly salted. Light palette cleaner to start off this meat lovers delight.
Chicken Karaage - ⅗ - Light and crispy batter but the actual meat wasn’t nearly as seasoned as I was hoping it would be.
Beef sukiyaki Bibimbap - ⅘ - The fun was watching her mix this up, and the goodness was the crispy bits of rice that clung to the hot clay bowl.
Harami Miso Skirt Steak - 5/5 - MY FAVORITE BEFORE AND MY FAVORITE NOW. STILL MELT IN YOUR MOUTH GOOD.
Gyu-Kaku Ice cream - > Green Tea and Lychee -> Get the green tea if you love yourself.
Kalbi Short Rib Sweet Soy, Filet Mignon, Toro Beef Sweet Soy, New York Steak Miso,Chicken Thigh Basil, Mushroom Medley, Corn ->everything else was basic and uneventful to me
The presentation was delightful, the staff was friendly, prices were very reasonable, but most importantly the food was absolutely incredible. Live in Red Deer but will make sure to stop by again in the near future.
Been coming here since opening regularly. The staff are some of the friendliest ,nicest people. If you aren't experienced in grilling your own meat ,they'll instruct you on how long to cook each cut. Each meat comes with several different marinade options, the drinks are reasonably priced and happy hour is a great deal. I've never walked out unsatisfied. 10/10 would recommend.
The meat here isn't bad, I'd say it's not premium but still decent. It's there only Japanese bbq I know of in Alberta. Weekends are really packed here. If you want to try it out do weekday. Happy hour has some good drink pricing. For sure it's a place to try out at least once.
It was cool to finally be able to experience the Japanese grill environment! The food was fantastic, and I was especially a fan of the ponzu sauce on the yaki-shabu beef. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and responsive. I definitely recommend this place :)
Excellent meat quality and a nice selection of cuts. Ordered just about everything on the menu, and is generally all good but I preferred the fattier cuts more. Would like a little more selection of vegetables even if it is a BBQ place. Service was good. I had a great experience here.
I dine here almost on a bi-weekly basis. Love the quality, flavour, and vast selection of meat. Definitely come for the lunch specials, you won't be disappointed!
Service was genuinely friendly. We shared a bunch of different meat options - soup and salad included - and it was all delicious (and I'm picky about my meat cuts). Prices were very reasonable for downtown. Can't wait to go again!
One of my friends highly recommended me to try this place since I was in Calgary. I don’t think I’ve been to Japanese BBQ before but boy was it delicious. We ordered the Meat Lover 1 (~$65), which fed 2 people, but we also ordered additional dishes. The meat was seasoned very well and it was tender and juicy. The waiter just kept bringing out different types of meat and I had no idea what they were but they were all delicious. I also ordered a Garlic Beef Noodle, which was superb. Ambience and service was great and I enjoyed the ice cream at the end. Will definitely come back if I ever go stop by Calgary.
I came here for lunch and ordered the Premium meat lovers combo for 2. Oh man it was delicious! The beef sukiyaki bibimbap was amazing! All of the meats were marinated well. I reccomend to order Sapporo beer! It's cheap and pairs so well with BBQ.
The service here was on point. Our server was so knowledgeable and had a great personality. Everyone says goodbye on your way out as well!
I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend and she took me there on a Saturday night. I soon realized why she insisted on making reservations as the place was absolutely packed! Without a reservation the wait times were up to an hour. We had the Premium Meat Lovers Combo, which is one of their pre set menus. Everything was amazing! All of the meat was tender and just melted in my mouth. The rice dish (beef sukiyaki bibimbap) was delicious and was my favourite dish of the evening. The service was wonderful, I just wish there was some consistency - we had 5 different people serve us during the course of our meal. I really like how they have sauces on the table (spicy, soy and an umami base sauce) so that you can adjust the taste of the meat before or after you grill it. The food was meant to be for 2 people but we had plenty of leftovers! The food is a little pricey than if you were to go to a Korean BBQ restaurant but in my opinion it is totally worth it. Try this place and don't forget to make a reservation!
Came here for my mom's birthday. The atmosphere was nice and our server was attentive. The meat was good, although the portion was smaller then expected (especially for the boyfriend and brother).
Came here for lunch with my friend. 3 dishes of meat, soup, salad and rice for each person. Foods taste good and it's enough for a female, but I don't think they can fill up my husband's stomach. Service was a little slow. Overall worth a try.
Came here for lunch with 3 others during the week and we all really enjoyed it. We all decided to do the Japanese BBQ option. We chose the 3 meats (many options) which included a soup or salad and rice. They gave generous portions and were trendy and flavourful. We also tried a few appetizers but I'd stick with the Japanese BBQ next time. Service was good. The manager came by to make sure all was well. The fan system was awesome. It sucked up the steam and smell from the BBQ right away and directly from the grill. If you've had Korean or Japanese BBQ before, you know you'll leave the restaurant smelling like BBQ afterwards. Will definitely be back.
I've come here several times since opening. The service has ALWAYS been really good. The food quality has been consistent and good. Most people compare this place with Korean BBQ. Gyu offered marinated meat that seems like more a premium cut. The meat quality is quite good. Prices are good, while the portions are small. When ordering, the set menu seems like the goto thing. Their summer special and happy hour is always the safe picks. You need to make reservations, as this place fills up quite fast.
Back a couple months ago we decided to try Gyu kaku Japanese style BBQ, first of its kind in Calgary. I usually rank 5 stars if you are the best in the business, but sorry so many other Korean bbq with same cooking style taste better. Service is better than the reviews it had before. But I don't care about service it's all about the food. The meat looks fresh but after cooking it the taste is a bit less fresh. It feels like they bought bulk meat and froze it for a while to cut costs.
Had a great time at this restaurant! Food was fantastic and the service was great - so accommodating! I messed up and made my reservation for the wrong night and when my group of 6 showed up, they did what they could to fit us in! We all had a great time and very much enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Would highly recommend gong to this restaurant. Great place to go as a group of friends and also family friendly. Would definitely go back.
I came here with a group of 8 for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The service and experience was all great. I did not feel like grilling my food today so opted to order the ramen lunch set for 9.95. You get a choice of shio or miso ramen, which comes with a hard boiled egg and a piece of fatty pork. This set also comes with 3 gyozas and a salad. I really liked the dressing on the salad and the ramen was the full size even though it was a lunch set. My meal came to less than $11 and it was a great value for money. The rest of my party also enjoyed their food. Will definitely return for lunch and now also really wanting to try their dinner menu. They're obviously used to dealing with larger groups for lunch, there was no fuss when it came to splitting our bills and I appreciated that they did not add auto gratuity and I ended up tipping more than that anyway because of the great service.
For meats, we pretty much picked one of everything on the menu. We ordered: Bistro Hanger Steak Miso, Filet Mignon, Kalbi Chuck Short Rib Garlic, Angus Beef Ribs Sweet Soy, New York Steak Miso, Toro Beef Sweet Soy, Yaki-Shabu Beef Miso, Pork Belly White Soy, Spicy Pork, and Pork Toro White Soy. The only thing we didn’t try was the chicken, shrimp and more expensive cuts of meat.
This place was good! The portions are decent and it's moderately priced. The service was great and quick. I've been to a similar place in a different city but the quality cuts of meat is way better here. Definitely will be back
Great presentation and ingredients, well furnished and good service. Gyu-Kaku has all the makings of an excellent self serve BBQ!
Even the menu has a few starters that might grab your fancy along with an assortment of Japanese treats for dessert.
This place is amazing and all but the thing is, dress it up all you want Japanese BBQ just seems like a lesser version of its Korean cousin.
There's something about the marinade that just doesn't quite cut it and the portions are much smaller. Still there's more variety in flavour if Korean isn't your thing though!
After coming here, I decided I like Japanese bbq almost as much as I like Korean bbq. Similar concept but smaller portions. The selection of different meats is quite large but I found that only some were good. My favourite was the kalbi short ribs. The ones marinated in their special sauce were not that great and all the veggies were kind of unnecessary. Their house salad and chicken karaage are very good! Also very interesting that you can make your own s'mores! Come during happy hour and you great a pretty good deal.
Came here for lunch and luckily got here before the rush! My friend and I got the "meat lovers" and it made us both very full. The service was great and the restaurant manager even came by to show us how to BBQ the meat perfectly! The sesame ice cream was delicious and a great way to end the meal
What a great way to spend a long lunch with friends or co-workers. I can’t call it a lunch ‘hour’ because it definitely took longer than an hour! Four of us shared the Samurai for 4 for $27.50 per person (see menu here). Yum!. We were served miso soup, a nice looking salad, and tofu with kimchi to start. There were so many great colors and flavours and we were looking forward to more! After some fried chicken we started the Japanese BBQ. For the Japanese BBQ they cranked up the heat on a grill in the middle of our table (much like Korean BBQ if you’ve ever done that before) and you cook your own meat and veggies. It’s very interactive, so it does take a bit of time.
Over a month ago, my boyfriend and I stayed in Calgary over the weekend (for once I know!) for our friend's wedding. On the Sunday, we decided to have a date night at one of the newer restaurants in Calgary - Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ. I'd heard good reviews about this place but I had also been warned that the wait times for this restaurant averaged for hours. So we went for an early dinner, around 5:30pm when it was just about to open for the night. We were greeted with Japanese greetings - I couldn't tell you what they said as I have no knowledge about Japanese words. Speaking of which, I should learn some words because we venture off to Japan in a couple of months ...
First time trying out this new Japanese BBQ joint. We ordered one of the combos so we could have a good variety and try multiple dishes. The price point is higher than a regular Korean all you can eat place. However, the cuts of meat were excellent and if cooked properly, are super juicy and tender. The marinates that the meats are marinated in go very well with each cut. However, you can choose a different marinate if you would like. The service was excellent. The servers are all super polite and really explain the process well. They will introduce you to their menu as well as suggested cooking time for each plate of bbq they bring out. Our grill was changed twice. I was splattered with hot oil on my shirt, as well as my face when they changed the grill. The waitress apologized many times and offered me ice. Then the general manager came over and offered us a discount on our bill as well as offered me his business card to pay for any dry cleaning fees. I later saw him talking to the waitress informing her how to change the grill properly. The service is definitely really great at this restaurant and the food is also very good. Another plus is compared to other bbq places, you don't leave smelling like bbq. The ventilation system is great, and built right into the grill. I would recommend this location and would most likely return.
One of the spots I go to for group dinners and happy hours in Vancouver. Friends go to Gyu-Kaku in Cali and New York. It was about time for a Japanese BBQ spot to open up in Calgary, and the only one too. Gyu-Kaku is pretty consistent across their various locations unlike other chains. This new location has been crazy busy since day one. There aren’t competitors in the city so it’s a one-spot for Japanese BBQ.
Happy hour at 9:30 PM! It's $50 for two people and you get all sort of beef, chicken, bibimbap, dumpling, soup, salad, and vegetable. They didn't have the filet Mignon so we were substituted with the kalbi beef... That was a little disappointing. Other than that, the rest of the food was good. It was a fairly decent portion and well marinated... Except for the steak which was marinated with their special miso sauce that I'm not a big fan of. The vegetable came wrapped in tin foil. It was recommended to cook two-three minutes per side but if you're the type of person who doesn't like their veggie raw, definitely put on the grill for longer than that. The veggie didn't work for me anyways. The broccoli was salty and peppery and this mixed mushroom was soooo salty from the sauce they prepared. We also ordered the calpico soju and It was the perfect combination with the meat! Will probably be back to try different things on their menu - ie. A different meal set. Honestly, it was only a $10 difference from the happy hour and you get to try more kinds of meat. For this price, it's not worth to wait for happy hour and to have your supper this late, of course, unless you wanted to eat late anyways.
This was our first trip to Gyu Kaku. We showed up at 4:45 on a Saturday and the wait staff did a great job at squeezing us in. Let me say this place is fantastic. The service is great and the food is out of this world. We arw definitely going to put this place on our regular rotation. Highly recommend.
I have tried this in Vancouver and was so excited when we got our own! We tried to make reservations a week in advanced and were told to "just come in at 4:45pm and wait". When we arrived at 4:45pm, I noticed there was also a few people there waiting. The gentlemen in front of me walked up to the hostess to ask for a table and was rudely cut off by the hostess and was told to "just wait"... So she can enter in a reservation for the next week for someone else. Isn't the person standing in front of you more important than a reservation for next week?? Like other reviews before me, it took another 15-20min for the hostesses to sort everything out.
Once we were sat, everything went great from there. We noticed they had a grand opening special: $2 for the first glass of Sapporo!! Our server Derrick was so attentive and kind to us, and he made excellent recommendations. Our drinks were always filled and our grill was always clean. Food has always been excellent from this franchise so no complaints there. It may seem like small portions but it is quite filling! They have a 2hr limit which is understandable (and do-able) if they count from when you are sat and not by when you made the reservation for, seeing as how it can take them at least 15-30min to seat people.
This is one of the franchise from Japan and I have been longing to try this restaurant for quite sometimes.
Finally got the chance to try it last week! My friend and I made the reservation at 7:15 pm, we arrived on time and still took the staffs 15 mins to seat us. The front entrance was jammed pack with ppl waiting to be seated and yet the tables in the restaurant were empty. I really think the staffs need to be more efficient. Beside the seating problem, overall I had a really great time.
My friend and I ordered the premium dinner for 2, the quality of the meat was pretty good and tasted great too. At first, I thought the portions of the food seems tiny but we were both really full at the end.
Our server was very nice and attentive and clearly explained the cooking time for each different cut of meat. I really enjoyed the experience and definitely will be back.
Note: Ordered the Miso Ramen for lunch the other day and it was the most disgusting ramen I ever had in Calgary. The miso soup didn't taste like miso, just like those canned chicken broth and the egg wasn't soft boiled.. it was an entire HARD boiled egg!! Major disappointment! Just stick with the BBQ menu from now on....
First off, BOOK AHEAD if you are going on weekends. I had to book a week ahead and the only time available for Saturday for 2 people was at 5:45. Anyways, a Japanese bbq place is definitely something new to calgary and because of this, the restaurant was packed. The food was really fresh, and all the different cuts of meat we ordered were delicious. They have many different types of marinade for each meat and we pretty much tried all of them, and they all were awesome. Next time I'll ask the servers for their recommendations for marinades for each meat. The only qualm I have is with the portion sizes. Dishes were 5-10 dollars depending on the cut, and for two people we ordered 6 dishes plus a rice dish and it ended up at around ~$60. So think all you can eat price but with better cuts and obviously not all you can eat. I'd come back but maybe with more people to try out more dishes
I've been hearing a lot of buzz about this place and was excited to try on a double date. We came in with reservations for 4 at 8pm. Upon entering, I noticed the decor was very much like the Japanese restaurants in Vancouver.
It was very busy. Most of the tables were booth seatings. They specialize in BBQ and the cool thing is their ventilation. The ventilation is within the grill so the smoke hardly goes upwards.
The food itself seems little but it is actually very generous and filling. The combos give prime beef and the server will advise how long to grill for. They bring out the food in rounds so it nearly seems endless and perhaps that's why we felt so full.
The dessert was neat, they had s'mores which you use the grill to melt your marshmallow. They also offer 3 flavours of ice cream and black sesame is one! Yum!
Overall it was a good experience. I would def go back with an emptier stomach!
First time here tonight as recommedations by a coworker. Made a reservation ahead of time because they were super busy. Got sat at a booth right by the front by the window. Service was fantastic and our waitress Erina explained how it all worked and advised us of the different marinades you can choose from for the meats and how long to grill catch different types of meat. The manager Jack came around and gave his recommendation which was helpful and was super friendly as well. We decided to order the meat lovers for 2 for $55 and then order other side items. The extra sides we got was: crispy bacon chips, spicy tuna volcano, takoyaki balls, cheese wontons, salmon poke, and beef garlic noodles. Everything was excellent and delicious, except the bacon chips were ok would not order again. The chicken karage that came with the meat lovers combo was really food and I really liked it. Super crunchy. the meats were marinaded really well as I liked the sweet soy sauce for dipping. Totally would recommed this place and come back again and again.
I was so excited before going that restaurant since this restaurant is from Tokyo. The foods were delicious and clean. Staffs were nice, pleasant. Reasonable price. I feel like I will go there again and again.
The restaurant definitely offers a fun, communal experience. Because it is a giant chain, it could offer top quality meat at affordable prices. Nonetheless, we felt the service a bit rushed – the dishes just kept coming even when we had a full table. At one point, I had to ask the server to slow down and give us some time to finish the existing plates.
I recommended skipping the appetizers (they were mediocre and just a stomach filler) and ordering only the meat. My top picks are beef tongue, yaki-shabu beef, toro beef, harami miso shirt steak, and bistro hanger steak.
The wait wasn't too long tonight. First time here, staff are very friendly. Service is great! The food was delicious, and price was fair for the quality of the meats. Coolest part was the smores and the fun of cooking it ourselves.
Had a great dinner at this place tonight.... although it was a lonnnnnng wait, but it was worth for the wait, food and services are great.... something new and different in Calgary. Will go back many times. everything is tasty, don't even need to use any of the sauce on the table for any of the BBQ meat. LIKE IT !!
Dined on Monday, waited 50 minutes to be seated. It's no joke when they say wait time will be between 45 min-1 hour. Super great addition to Calgary!
It was super busy when I dropped by Saturday night, but it was worth the wait! We got a combo meal as it was easy and came with plenty of food. The server actually forgot to add on two extra items we wanted, but in the end it worked out because we wouldn't have been able to finish all the food! Grilling your own food is kind of an novelty and I was very happy with all the cuts of meat and marinades we got. In fact, you probably don't even need to use any of the tableside sauces provided! They were very prompt in changing the grill plate and re-filling our tea cups. You even get a nice discount right now because of the soft opening. I'll definitely be back!
Went to try out tonight for dinner, very good experience, will definitely go back to try out more that I can't try tonight! The KOBE BEEF are excellent!!! Something new style in Calgary to try :)
Great food, Great place, Great price!! Will go back again and again!! The Kobe beef was fresh and yummy!!! Like it so much!!! Location is convenience too!
This place needs more waiters, everyone seemed hardworking but they were unable to cover all areas without too long of a wait. Food (raw meat) was delivered to me about 15 mins later which was unusual for BBQ restaurant. The combo/ saving sets are designed for two people or more; I wonder if the owner would think of the individual patron that eats a lot like me? I alone spent CAD $75, hope they think about it. Food was good regardless.
We had a wonderful dinner at Gyu-kaku, it's our first time dinning out here at Calgary and we made a great choice eating here. The host Mr.dean was very nice and as well as our server. She was very accommodating and friendly. The food quality was good and we highly recommend the harami beef and their salad. Also try their Tiramisu dessert it's so yummy. Definitely will come back when we are here at calgary.
Thank you Mr. Dean for my husband free Asahi beer. He love the Japanese beer 🍺 now.
This was my second time here and am still very pleased with everything. I am soooooo full. Maybe too full for a Friday afternoon. Everything is just way to delicious. The staff is fantastic and friendly. Food is always above par. I can't recommend this place enough.
We tried Japanese BBQ for the first time and it was a wonderful experience. The staff were so attentive and kind. Due to the floods in Vancouver there were a few meat items missing from the menu but the staff were so sweet and apologetic. They substituted that meat option with other meat options and even gave us extra meat for the inconvenience. The food was absolutely delicious. We loved the marinades and flavours!
Walk by the restaurant every morning on my way to work and have always wanted to eat here. This was the 1st time going and the food was delicious and flavorful! A fun experience.
A downtown gem - the cuts of meat are fresh, marinated perfectly, and very easy to grill. Love the atmosphere and service. A great experience all around and prices are fair as well. Great deals for groups especially.
Not as expected good but not bad.
In my opinion, only the short rib beef is good meat, altho I don't think it's close to prime rating.
Tbh I expect to have some Wagyu in there, but don't see any in the menu.
Another thing, this is not traditional coal BBQ tho, it's electric.
We went here for lunch today and came leaving satisfied. We ordered 3 of the 2 meat lunch meals and one 3 meat lunch meals. The best meat we had was the umakara pork! Another good one was the kalbi beef. Unfortunately they ran out of salad dressing today but they provided some alternatives.
