Review Crave Cookies And Cupcakes - Calgary

Victor Law
Received some mini cupcakes from Crave. They were put together in a special packaging specifically made for their mini cupcakes. The package fits and protects the mini cupcakes very well. We received an assortment of mini cupcake. Every one of their cupcakes tasted great! My little ones ended up eating most of them and kept devouring them. I guess you can say that my kids approve! Will definitely need to buy some in the future!

We ordered mini cupcakes and a cake topper for our wedding. Communication during the ordering process was great as I asked many questions during the planning process. The cake and mini cupcakes came out beautifully and tasted great. Thanks for being patient with me and for baking great tasting cakes.

Had a great experience with one of the girls at the counter!! I think her name was Veronica. She answered all my questions and took the time to offer suggestions for what my dinner party would need. The 24 mini cupcakes were so delicious and satisfied all of my guests! Will be returning for all of my events! Thank you Crave!!!

We hired crave to cater for our wedding. Their catering department is great, easy to contact and flexible. They allowed us to increase and then decrease our order size as our guest count fluctuated. Pickup on the day of was seamless. Cupcakes themselves were obviously great, exactly as you'd get in store, and we received many compliments from guests.

I love this place! I think it’s real cute and the cupcakes are fluffy and great! The icing is very unique. Crave is reliable. Sometimes the icing is a bit too sweet for me or the cupcakes themselves are but I would still give it a 5 stars because they are good and the service is friendly!
Amanda Ndlovu
Yummy vanilla cupcake and the velvet cupcakes were amazing as well. The service was great. The chocolate cupcakes tasted like they came from a store bought ready cake mix. The icing was too sugary and sweet for me, overall decent cupcakes though.
Olga Courtnage
Ordered online for school fundraiser. Set up your own pick up. The cupcakes were so wonderfully packaged and the pickup was easy. I have to say I rediscovered crave. Used to order regularly for kids birthdays and events, then kinda stopped. Happy to discover it again. Great gift idea as well.

The amount of options in this bakery...is wow (in a good way). They also offer seasonal goods. Their cupcakes range from mini to large in multiple flavours, moist and well made with icing (which can be too sweet for some). $21 for a dozen mini or can pay for 6 large. Their cookies here are also really good and soft with unique flavour options too - selling for $3 each. Have tried their delivery service and it is also very good and well organized. This place is a good place to treat yourself or a loved one.

I ordered a custom cake for my boyfriend a few months ago. They got everything I wanted it, even customized the flavour. Delivery was made right on time. Communication is also great. I've also attended to some of the classes and purchased lots of cupcakes from Crave. Nothing bad to say. Their service is beyond excellent!
Christina Fortin
The cake looked great except they messed up on my order and gave me a BLUE cake instead of white. Additionally, they did nothing to fix it. It’s not the first time this has happened. I advice ordering anything in advance there except cupcakes - the only thing they don’t mess up. Thanks for ruining the event

We have been loyal customers for years! Whether it be for custom orders (birthdays) or a weekend treat, Crave always meets and exceeds our expectations! Nothing else compares! Thanks Crave!

I ordered my wife the Chocolate German Cake for her birthday. She loves chocolate and I wanted something a bit more special than our typical DQ cake (what a mistake). I picked it up yesterday before closing and we had it today. I've had better chocolate cake out of a box than the 2 layers of "most chocolate cake" that it promises. Also, the layers of milk chocolate ganache aren't actual layers, they are small smears on the outside of the cake to make it look like layers. When you cut into the cake, there is no chocolate to be seen (took a picture as well). I was prepared to spend a decent amount of money on a small cake but was expecting a product that matched. We would have been better of picking up a cake from Sobey's or a box at 7-11, I don't think anything could actually match how dry this was. The worst part, my wife loves chocolate and cake and was so disappointed (as she should be). Even our twin, chocolate obsessed 3 year olds didn't want to eat it after a few bites.

They're very nice and the cupcakes are fresh bake awesome so yummy willow park branch keep it up guys!!! thanks again for taking our orders even if it's almost closed...good costumer service.

We ordered cupcakes for our daughter's birthday - beautiful glitter, shiny unicorns, and one special rainbow glitter with "Happy Birthday Julia" on it. Well, someone at the day care took that cupcake, and it made our daughter cry. So, I called the store again asking if they could re-make the very same cupcake again. Not only did they make that one cupcake for her again, they did not allow me to pay for it! I was blown away! What great service! From now on I will always order only with Crave! Thank you so much for making this experience the best EVER for all of us!
Jen Schmidt
Not only are these cupcakes delicious, but they also donate cupcakes to the food bank. A wonderful establishment.
Hayley Kelly
I ordered custom cupcakes for a first birthday party. Each cupcake needed to be a different tsum tsum character so the order was fairly specific.... Jenna was ON IT! She did an amazing job taking care of us and the cupcakes were PERFECTION!
Erin Bogle
I have been a loyal Crave customer since you opened in 2004 and I continue to be amazed at the freshness of your baking! The quality of your products and the smiles I get when I walk through your front doors are second to none. Thank you for making my days a little brighter and a whole lot more delicious!
Stephanie Andrews
Delicious, home made and lovely service. We celebrated a special event with them and will always remember our pink cupcakes by the river!
Courtney Jolene
Loved our first experience from Crave!!! Got 36 mini cupcakes and they were a huge hit!!! Landen's 9th birthday party was a success and the cupcakes were awesome!!!!

How can I keep my cupcakes fresh for as long as possible? Our cupcakes are baked fresh without preservatives the morning you purchase them, so they are best enjoyed the day of purchase. I found this on your website in the FAQ section. Your company states that the cupcakes are baked fresh without preservatives. Can you please clarify that statement? Are you claiming that there are no preservatives in any of your ingredients or that your company does not add any additional preservatives to your awesome cupcakes?
Dawn Furze
Worst customer service ever. I have been trying for days to get the wedding planner to return my call as I wanted to order a wedding cake and cupcakes for my daughters wedding. I have taken my business elsewhere and I will suggest to everyone I know they do the same.
Barb Korencik-Allen
Crave, you make some fabulous cupcakes...but maybe you need to work on your cakes and your customer service! Super disappointed in the service my sister in law received from you this weekend. Lose an order, deliver a cake an hour late and that is the wrong color, and collapses because it was not made in the appropriate time line...for shame. Would not recommend you guys to anyone

Best cupcake I ever had! The icing is to die for
JDub
The best. What more is there to say. Great people and great treats. Kids and adults alike love it. The red velvet is to die for. The icing is addictive.

I have ordered from this location multiple times and only had an issue with my order 1 time, but the staff and management were quick to resolve the matter. In terms of the actual cupcakes, themselves, they are always good. The favourites for us are the Crave-O-Licious and the Lemon Lime Twist. Delivery is also quick and easy. Whenever there is a special occasion, I never hesitate to give Crave a call.
Mish
Best cupcakes I've had, hands down. Also have amazing gluten free cupcakes. The variety of the cupcakes is awesome, and they always are so fresh, delicious and soft. It's a bit expensive, but well worth it. I'd rather pay the price and get a few crave cupcakes instead of a box of cheaper ones. Crave is amazing, and if you're in the area and craving sweets, definitely check it out. My favorite is red velvet (:
Nicole Sa'id
This is my go-to cupcake place! Nutty over chocolate and red velvet Elvis are the favorites at our house. I find the cupcake prices to be very reasonable however the last time I ordered a cake I was a bit surprised at how tiny it was for the price i paid (but it was beautiful and delicious!) I have always found the ladies working at the shops (Kensington & crowfoot) so be very sweet. Online ordering is super easy and they reply/confirm quickly.

Don't bother. - ridiculous price, poor selection, staff are ok but no training or customer service smarts. Just not worth the time or money.
Hopelessly Hungry
Excellent cupcakes, fantastic service and great staff. I always enjoy coming here, I do miss the monogram coffee pop up shop they used to host, but oh u cant have your cupcake and eat it too, or can u?!?!?
Lilly Jackson
Cupcakes were fine but a little over priced. A little to sweet and too much icing for my tastebuds. Service was also slow and a little rude.
Email Email
Best cupcakes I've ever had. However, last 2 times I've been there they were out of full size Red Velvets. I got a dozen minis instead of a half dozen big ones. Pricing on the minis is half of a full size, so 2:1. Using a food scale, it took 5 minis to equal the weight of 1 full size cupcake. Minis are a rip-off!
Kathy
Placed an order online with Crave Cupcakes for a baby shower I had to attended. I was extremely happy with the way the cupcakes turned out! Everyone loved them! I was also pleased to see they had Monogram Coffee at this location perfect match!
Miss Zin
Crave makes the best cupcakes and cakes in the City! 🍰 I don't normally enjoy icing but theirs is so delicious and not too sweet. They have lots of flavours to choose from and also have gluten-free options. Super cute stores with friendly, unpretentious staff!
Janijingle
Disappointed in the service for the first time using this location. Information from the store clerk was not forthcoming, delivery policies were not explained correctly, and long distance delivery charges were not communicated, which is strange because my order was within Calgary. With my delivery, they didn't even put the senders name on the box! I wrote the manager, but have not heard back. If they come through with an apology and credit, then I may change the rating.
Elena Ching
What a sweet treat! I preferred the Crave-o-Licious cupcake - the chocolate cupcake was light, moist and had a rich chocolate flavor. The blue vanilla icing wasn't overpoweringly sweet which was great. I also liked the Red Velvet Elvis Cupcake but I wished the cream cheese icing had a stronger cream cheese flavor to it. I think the mini cupcakes are a wonderful idea because you can be greedy and try more flavours. I think they would also make a great gift to share with friends - they taste as good as they look.
Gianni M
5/5 because the cookie sandwiches with buttercream are a gift from God an because they have a coffee bar with beans from Monogram now- best coffee, by far, beyond discussion, in K'ton. Espresso/cappuccino etc and only available until 3pm unfortunately.
Loves2eat
Crave is a really cute shop and their cupcakes taste good. The cupcakes that I enjoy the most here are the nutty over chocolate, red velvet Elvis, and dark angel. They also have other options like cookies and pies. The reason I love this location the most though, is that they created a custom cake for me. I asked for a cake shaped like a present box, with a white bow, and in a specific shade of green. They did an amazing job.
Vitamin Daily
We don’t want to alarm you, but Crave Cupcakes now sells its delicious buttercream frosting by the container. That’s right, our favourite cupcake connoisseur is giving you a chance to try your hand at creating epic cakes by bottling the delicious topping that put its sweet shop on the map 11 years ago. Also available for purchase: Crave's own cupcake mix, sure to impress at your next dinner party.

I wish I could rate this lower! I had a horrible time there last weekend. My boyfriend and I just wanted to try the coffee and while they had 3 staff members standing around no one wanted to help us. By the time the lady was done ordering 100 cupcakes in front of us the bored girl on the computer made us lukewarm coffee and looked annoyed when we asked for extra lids as she could be bothered to stock more at the coffee station. Don't go here!
M
My go to place for cupcakes. It's always a nice mini sweet treat for any occasions.

I like that this location has monogram coffee now and a little sitting area after they expanded. They also serve a bigger variety, brownies and cookies, etc.
Tristan
Crave is always a win. Haven't been in a while and I was pleasantly surprised by their new cookie and pie offerings! This location also now offers monogram coffee which is brilliant and makes for an awesome combo!
Emma Marie
I adore this cupcake joint, not only do you know they use top notch ingredients, but you are able to see the bakers in the back performing their tasks. The new gluten free are so delicious! It's refreshing for someone like me who is unable to digest a lot of wheat to have a good option, and they're available in two flavours and sizes! What could be better?! Also really enjoying the new pairing with Monogram Coffee at the Kensington location, it's so nice to be able to get a hot beverage along with a scone, cupcake, loaf slice or whatever else one fancies. Definitely a good option if you're looking for some classic North American style home baking. Everything is made from scratch, and you can really tell when you bite into it!

Sidenote: Definitely try one of their pies! I'm obsessed with the Apple, but I've heard great things about the Blueberry too!
Kenzie Smith
We used to get gluten free cupcakes for a friend of ours here, since they reopened they told us they don't have them anymore. Very disappointed, also the cupcakes are very expensive and the dozen we got were dry and tasted old. Also the service was lacking. If I'm paying a premium price for a cupcake I would at least like a hello and goodbye. Also we purchased a pie that tasted like it was from a mix.
Pigeon-y
good cupcakes that are notably quite pricey, but what does price matter when you're treating yourself!! cupcakes at this location aren't too sweet (but then again, it's half cupcake and half icing, so it really should be expected), though as other reviews have said, the service really needs work on some days.

personally, i prefer the mini cupcakes because the regular sized cupcakes are a bit much for me.
Millicent.thom
Favorite. Such wonderful, cupcakes and nestled in the heart of kensington it is a perfect little gem

Worst service Ever! Rude Manager!. I was in Saskatoon Crave this week. The service and manager were awful! Not going back there.
Foodie
Best cupcakes EVER!. These are the best cupcakes I have literally ever had. I just read some reviews who the heck cares if the staff are rude, that transaction takes a total of three minutes. It's worth it. Get over it.
Brooke.nash21
Red Velvet Elvis? Oh my!. Great cupcakes! Sometimes they are a tad too sweet, so I usually have to get the minis. They are a tad pricey but I understand why.
Food For Thought
Beautiful cupcakes! The frosting is too sweet for my tastes though. Staff is NEVER pleasant. Now I just make my own. I do not like to pay for attitude, only tasty treats!
JT
Horrible Service. This brunette lady , heavier set was so rude. I came in to grab a couple dozen cupcakes and she was curt & rushed me the entire couple minutes it took me to order. Felt like just walking out right then & there. I'm not one to judge a book by its cover but her personality truly reflects the way she represents herself. I'll take my hard earned $50 elsewhere next time.
Andrea
Great icing. But I would have chosen Betty crocker cake mix over that. The cake mix was so watered down that all the flavors taste the same.
Callena4
To Die For!!. The cupcake sat Crave are some of the best I've ever had. Always fresh and home made tasting. So sweet, rich and buttery but definitely worth it for the occasional treat! Great place!
MaggieMay
Pretty, but too sweet. Looking forward to maple bacon, yum, love salty and sweet but I was so disappointed. Could only taste sugar.
Sam Bader
By far the best cupcakes I have ever had! The icing is to die for.
IndustryGuru
My girlfriend brought over a few of their cupcakes for dessert after a special meal. They were awesome!!! Red Velvet was amazing and the vanilla chocolate blew us away. After a disasterous experience with Buttercreams! Crave has our business!
Gary Hambley
Carve Cupcakes. They are still a great product, always a little expensive, but if you notice they have cut back on the amount
of icing they use to apply. Icing not as high and spectacular as previously. Now they are like a lesser product but
with the same high price
Glutenfreeyyc
Gluten free cupcakes. I was very skeptical about Crave's gluten free cupcakes, because they had so much to live up to. But I can barely tell the difference between their regular cupcakes and their gf ones! So delicious, and I've never had a reaction. It's so nice to be able to have a cupcake with everyone else.
Deliveree
I loved them. The GFF ones are also fantastic! I'm in love with the peanut butter icing...
Peter Pham
BEST. Always my favorite cupcakes

Top Sinful Treats in Calgary!. Crave has become one of the 'must try' Calgary shops while visiting. I take all my out of town guests here and they love it! Yes it very sweet and yes it’s pricey but if it’s just a treat once awhile it’s worth every penny and calorie! If you never tried one, or don’t even like cupcakes.......head there immediately because you don’t know what you’re missing
Sheila C
I like crave cupcakes but the price of them isn't really equal to it's value. I feel like you are paying for the name. If you told me you bought them from Safeway, I would believe you.
Justafoody
Not good. I paid like seven bucks for two cupcakes, high way robery. The icing was WAYY too sweet. Not even sure they use real butter, maybe a mix of butter and some kind of lard. The cake part was not that great. I brought some to a party everyone took one, but not one cupcake was finished. The night ended with a garbage full of half eaten crave cupcakes. Dont waist your money, safe way CC are better. And they dont charge 7 bucks for 2 CC's.
Mitch Hamm
Pfft, ive made better cup cakes.. Came home today to find that my girlfriend finally went to crave, shes been talking about going there forever. so we both tried our first crave cupcake together, we were not impressed, she got vanilla and i got chocolate cake, and both white frosting with coconut. my chocolate cupcake barley tasted of chocolate, tasted like really watered down cake mix from superstore, and the icing was not very well done, looked like a massive mess on the top, and the frosting was awful. i dont understand how people can love these cupcakes, your probably just into liking what others like so you dont have a mind to think for yourself or you have no sense of taste.
its probably a good thing i dont know how much those cupcakes costed.
Alycia
Good. Bought cupcakes from here a few times. They are tad pricey but the quality is up to par in my opinion. I find the icing a tad to sweet though but that's about my only complaint flavour wise.

"Craving" Customer Service. Preorder 3+weeks ahead of celebration; charged wrong amount; go back to have fixed, credit doesn't look correct but instead of arguing check bank account at home; yup, total debits of $333.35 have been made for $77.75 order. Go back again with printout of account, get credit. This should have been a sign.
Day of celebration go to pick up cupcakes, STORE NOT OPEN. Frantically phone alternative source as 35 people due in 1.5 hrs; get desserts in time at a $80 premium.
Next day, no call; go to store, told…oops, our mistake. Given $77.75 credit and offer of coupons for some cupcakes. Refused any other compensation.
Mara Copland
...meh.. A friend brought me a red velvet cupcake since she knows it's my favorite, and honestly, it was like cardboard. There was no flavour in it at all. I'll never be bothering with Crave again.

Not worth it.
Ron
Excellent. Great cupcakes. pricey, but great.
Terry Wray
Bacon Cupcakes and Cookies!. Thanks so much for the bacon cupcakes at BaconFest! I'd love to see these as a flavor-of-the-month!
Hannah
I love love love Crave!! Best cupcakes I have ever had. My favourite is the Blondie, the chocolate buttercream is sooooo GOOD!!
Pau
I'm always craving for their cupcakes eventhough i already know how to make some ;p
Genre Slur
Really? Seriously?. You forgot to put some cupcake in that sugar, ack, choke. Friends disagree, but I am way picky with sweet food, and Crave is the Cheese Wiz of 'foodie' cupcakes. Disgusting attempt at dessert. Head down Kensington road to Melicher's Bakery. Mos def you'll get real desserts, yo.
Jennifiend
Not anything special. I don't understand what the big draw is for this place. Sure the cupcakes look super cute, but taste-wise.... yawn. The cake part tastes like cake mix and the icing (which is supposed to make the different flavours) just tastes of sickly sweet. Overpriced and in all honesty not very good.
Hitting The Sauce
Great cakes. I bought a cake for around $40.00. Worth every penny. It's such a rich cake, you have to cut small slices. There's three layers of real butter icing and nice moist cake. Very pretty too. I bought a chocolate cake with blue icing. Service was professional. The cupcakes are lovely too. Smores, diva, and peanut butter are my favorite. A million times better than Cupcakes in Vancouver!
TheCalgaryFoodie
Just So Good!. We love and we hate it; cake! And when you wrap it up in a little personal-sized paper and top it off with creamy, buttery, sugary, smooth icing there is no stopping us!

Their cupcakes, their Crave Cupcakes....our taste buds secret lover and the enemy of every women's backside.

You will not be able to help yourself as soon as you walk into this cute little bakery in the Kensington area. Clean, bright and smelling like a little piece of heaven. Behind the glass there they are perfectly lined up waiting for your pick. - Just try to only pick one....if you can :)

Stay hungry!

Calgary Foodie
Karma
Piss poor service and attitudes..... These guys are always busy, so it seems they think they can just treat the customs however they want. Which is generally pretty crappy. The new crowfoot location has a staff member "Katy" who's phone manner is-- well if I was her boss, I would her fired ASAP! So rude!!!!
Twice I have ordered cakes, from this new location and both times, decorating wasn't even as well done as a Safeway cake. Just cause the cupcakes taste great doesn't mean you keep your customers when you treat them like crap. Used to driving, city wide for specialty foods, I will just find another place to go, there are many great cupcake venues in the city. Crave has lost my business, due to poor, poor customer service! Regardless of taste, treatment of customers is just as important in running a bakery.
MKAngel
Are you kidding?. I first tried Crave back when I moved into the city, having been recommended by someone that these are the best cupcakes in town. THEY ARE NOT!
FYI, frosting should use butter not shortening. You should be able to taste the flavours. Who screws up mint icing???? Mint is so strong...it's like the forgot all together. I think these cupcakes are great for launching off slingshots, but that is about it.
Trust me...if you like this then you haven't tried a proper cupcake. I have a huge sweet tooth, but I will turn down CRAVE.
Clee
Overpriced. They are good but not great. The prices they charge are just NOT worth it.
Patti Shea
A great treat!. I am in Calgary only a few times a year, and consider Crave's delicious cupcakes a once-in-a-while treat. The minis are just right and you can't go wrong with Red Velvet and Crave-a-licious. They freeze very well and are worth every penny. Friends and family from across the country now know all about Crave, from me having stashed them in the freezer and brought them out as a surprise.
Cybele Night
A nice treat..!. I was head over heels for these cupcakes when I first discovered them, however as time has passed I have become a little less open to them.

They are a bit too sweet for me, but I do love the chocolate buttercream as well as the Nutty Over Chocolate cupcake.

To avoid being sweeted out, try the mini cupcakes rather than the full size. Also, go early as flavours often run out early in the day.

Be prepared to spend quite a bit as well. The sweets here are pricey. But worth treating yourself to here and there.
Simon
Gourmet. Great tasting cupcakes. A little on the expensive side but hey, gourmet cupcakes.
Sarah
Best cupcakes in Calgary. Yeah, they're sweet, and yeah, they're expensive, but have you tried the cupcakes from the competitors in town? Nasty. Crave is definitely my favourite cupcake place in town. They use butter in their icing and that makes such a difference. The cake is perfect. Love 'em!
Maxine
Way too sweet. When I first moved to Calgary people used to rave about Craves cupcakes so I just had to give it a try. I don't know what people are talking about, the icing is so sweet it gives me a toothache. The cupcake itself is pretty standard too; vanila and chocolate being your only options. As far as I'm concerned this has nothing over a cupcake bought from a supermarket other than the presentation.
Cclemon
Frankly too expensive for what they are. They are overly hyped for a niche idea...

How did cupcakes get so high priced???
Audrey
Never again. Trying to plan a baby shower for my friend, I thought a cake from Crave would be the show-stopper. Two weeks before the Sunday shower date, which is what I thought to be more than enough time to order, I made a call to the "order line" only to receive their voicemail. I explained the order I wanted and the date I wanted it for and left my name and phone number. This call was placed on a Friday.
Saturday came and went with no reply, so I called again only to receive the voicemail again. I left a second message. No call. I called again on Monday only to find our they're closed so I would have to wait another day. Tuesday came and went, no call back. Finally on Wednesday, still a week and a half before the shower, I received a call from a girl who informed me they "did not make cakes on the weekends". I said ok, then instead of a Sunday pickup I will get it on Friday to which I was told they were already booked for cakes that week and that I should have called earlier.
I was, needless to say, irate. They took their sweet ass time to call me back and it's MY fault??? And nowhere on their website does it mention that little pearl of wisdom about no cakes on the weekends, otherwise I would have saved myself 5 days of wasted time and frustration by ordering somewhere else.
Just by coincidence I was close to the Willow Park location the Saturday before the shower so I took a peek inside. And what did I see in the showcase? Cakes!
Crave has completely lost my patronage and that of my friends as well. A good experience will be told once, but a bad experience will be told a hundred times over.
Nmarie
Yummy! Overpriced so I only get one once in awhile
Robyn
Very sad, we have been going to this place since day one. The cupcakes are getting smaller and smaller and the price gets bigger and bigger.
KY
I don't get it. I don't really have much of a sweet tooth. But frankly i don't understand everone's love for cupcakes in general. I've had some pretty good cupcakes along the way but i find that Crave's are too sweet for my tastes. 3 bux for a cupcake? pfft no thanks
Mamasita
Too sweet. I don't know why ppl like these over sugared heart stopping cupcakes. its like eating a pound of sugar. i can't even finish one without feeling greasey buttercream going down my throat
Simon Jackson
Not craving, but reasonable. Firstly, I'll admit I'm not a big cupcake guy. So take this with that in mind.

I'd say for cupcake fans this is doubtless a good spot. A friend regularly stops in for her fix. For myself I found the choice of cupcake really affected the opinion. Pumpkin was a great option, and complimented it's icing well. Others...a little too much sugar for my taste.

You'll have to give them a try for yourself...
PorkChop
Get the minis. Yeah, they're sweet. Try the mini cupcakes - they are delicious and just the right amount. The icing is super rich and sweet, but that's what makes you crave the cakes (you like that?).

The cake itself will melt in your mouth.

Holy crap they are expensive, though. And it's really annoying when they run out hours before they close.

These are not the kind of sweets you want to buy/eat on a regular basis. But between raping your wallet and giving you the best sugar high ever, these cupcakes really are a treat.
Inveigler
OK but I'm kind of Craving a new cupcake place. I'll admit Crave is the best we have for cupcakes. They are good and the copious icing is part of the appeal. They are fresh and offer a variety of interesting flavours although thier signature vanilla (blue) is still best. What I don't understand is how urban spoon rated Crave under cheap eats $ when all the reviewers (myself included) find them on the expensive side. Urban spoon has to come up with a better rating system that accounts for exactly what you're getting for your $. As it is a $7 cookie would be listed under cheap eats. Give us a scale 1-10 for price it would fix the problem
Missdessert
Wow.. these cookies melt in my mouth! ..
Lo
Too sweet.. The frosting is so overwhelming and way too sweet that I can only have like 3 bites before my stomach feel sick. I can't even imagine how much sugar is in it! I think Buttercream or Bliss are better options for cupcakes. Service at the 17th location one is okay.. the ladies there seem kind of apathetic and like they don't care.
L Smith
I tried Crave Cupcakes for the first time today &, for the life of me, I cannot understand what all the hype was/is about! They tasted like no more than a 99 cent baked cake mix with terribly sweet icing! My suggestion, take an hour & bake cupcakes yourself! Maybe even spread some Betty Crocker icing from a container on them...I think they'd be better!!!
Lacey07
Love Crave!. I'd like to start by saying I was shocked, and very sad to see some of the negative reviews here.

A friend of mine introduced me to Crave Cupcakes one fall morning three years ago while strolling down 17th avenue. As we walked past Crave she said "Ohhh no, I love Crave Cupcakes!" I said "I've never tried them..." To which she responded "WHAT?!?" and within seconds I was pulled into Crave, and forced to eat a mini Va Va Vanilla. Now, in the morning, the last thing I want is something sweet. But that cupcake was the best breakfast I've had to date! Ever since that day, I've been addicted. I think the cake is amazing, the icing is incredible. I can't even believe that someone would compare the cupcakes to Safeway cupcakes, really?! You've got something seriously wrong with your tastebuds, darling! I love the idea of having a monthly feature, aka "Crave of the month". My favourite cupcake is the chocolate coconut one, mmmm! I live near the Aspen Landing location, so it's the one I frequent. The staff is very friendly, helpful and seem happy to be working there. I hope they continue to open more locations throughout the city and maybe even province-wide :) can't get enough!

5/5

Good treats. These cupcakes are good and they are so popular because they have no competition.I have had better and worse. If you want to treat yourself or friends with a jazzed up cupcakes buy them.If you want to impress someone make your own. Many small coffee houses have great treats.Try lazy loaf in Parkdale.
Tatiana
A bit too sweet, but way better than most. These are good basic cupcakes with a bit too much icing. No, you cannot compare them to the garbage from a supermarket. The cakes are always moist and full of basic flavor - lemon, chocolate, white cake, and the icing which is a half inch thick is real butter icing. It all tastes pretty good if a bit too indulgent, and worth the occasional treat.
Carb Queen
A dream. Fantastic cupcakes. Overpriced but delish. They should be careful though. You don't want to have too many stores because people always want what they can't easily get.

Dissipointing:(. My cupcake was dry and icing was ridiculous sour/sweet (lime icing), when I brought it to their attention no one even acknowledged my email/phone call.

I will never be returning... Worst Cupcakes and Even Worse Customer Service!!!

Value dropping. The cupcakes are still good, but everytime I go in they get smaller and more expensive. Now they are almost half the size they were in the beginning, and at that price, I'm done with it.

Not sure what's the fuss is about. I was so excited to finally try Crave, but sadly dissappointed. All the icing tasted the same... though I did enjoy the peanut butter. Cakes were dry and tasted like box mix. WAY OVER-RATED

Whats not to like?. You walk in, pick out amazing cupcakes, I always go for the smaller size as they offer a perfect cake to iceing ratio, then the lovely woman behind the counter puts them in a container for you and ties them with a pretty bow. How can you go wrong? I don't know!! And they freeze beautifully!! Perfect.

Yum!. I love these cupcakes! Too much icing for most people, but very moist and rich flavor.
Bec
Very sweet. These cupcakes are overall good. The cake is light and moist, and the icing has a creamy consistency. I just wish their icing flavours tasted like something other than sugar.

Best Cupcakes. Crave Cupcakes are the best in Calgary. Buttercream Bakery has more flavors, but they just can't beat Crave. Some people think they have too much icing, but in my opinion, you can never have too much icing. My husband and I will get some every few months as a treat. Love them!

Great cupcakes but they always run out.. I love their cupcakes and their buttercream icing, although I do find that they put too much icing on. They're insanely expensive for a cupcake. They often run out of their cupcakes and close early--at least in my experience. I've gone to Crave a few times and they had closed or were out of cupcakes so I usually won't go out of my way to buy some.

Satisfaction. I don't eat a lot of sweets, but if it's rush hour and I'm stuck on Kensington Road, I'll run in and grab a couple of mini cupcakes. They're overpriced, but satisfy my sweet tooth (I only have one).
Britney
Very, very sweet. The cupcakes are delicious but eating just one makes my teeth hurt so bad from the amount of sugar. Its better to buy a few mini cupcakes or split a big one with someone.

Been meaning to write about this.... A few of us went by the Kensington location a little late in the afternoon and peeked in the window before we went in as it appeared they were getting ready to close. We stood around the door for a minute and thought we should just keep going as it didn't look like they had anything left to sell (not an unusual occurrence!). Well, did one of the girls not come running out and ask us if we'd like to take a few cupcakes home with us for free because they would go to waste otherwise? TOTALLY made our day! Not to mention that as a bonus they were my favorite coconut cupcakes to boot!!!

I sincerely love Crave Cupcakes, I've never EVER been disappointed! And their customer service is outstanding as well!

Whats not to love?. How can you mess up cupcakes?

Good cupcakes, but nothing extraordinary. I've liked Crave ever since they first opened. Their cupcakes are tasty and their icing is quite good. However, since getting my own professional baking supplies, I've discovered that making cupcakes that tastes just as good as Crave's is really not that difficult. For $3 a cupcake, it's actually not really worth it... Sure, it's good cupcakes, but I can make 2 dozen for much less money and in less than an hour. Really, in a way you're paying for the hype. I also find that the icing gets to be too much after the halfway mark as it's so sweet.

Regardless, I still like Crave but I go less often now since I can make my own at home now...

I love it. These cupcakes are amazing. Just mention the phrase "crave cupcakes" and almost anyone will know what you're talking about

Best cupcakes hands down. The icing is nice and creamy with good flavor and the base is super fluffy and tasty. What more can you ask for. It is alittle pricey but very much worth it

Amazing.... For me Crave is a sometimes food. I love getting the mini cupcakes, it's just enough. Every month they have a "Craving of the Month" - like Pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing for Thanksgiving and gingerbread for Christmas. Around St. Patty's they usually have Bailey's flavored, not sure if they'll do it again this year. The Staff is really friendly and even though there's usually a line up it moves pretty fast. The 6 pack regular or dozen mini are perfect for gifts. They also do cookies! I almost forgot, my fav's are gingersnap cookies with vanilla butter cream!
Ava
So yummy!!. I love these cupcakes... they are so delicious... But I can only have the little mini ones because the big size cupcakesare way too sweet by the 3 or 4th bite. My favorite is the coconut cupcakes.

I don't know why this chain is so popular. All the cupcakes are without real flavour (unless you consider diabetically sweet a flavour). The cake has too much baking soda and is crispy around the edges. The frosting is just piled on. Sure they look nice, but at the price per cupcake I'd rather go to safeway and get half a dozen for the same price.

Little Cups of Joy. Sweet and indulgent, I've never come away disappointed after eating one of their cupcakes. And being a coconut fan, the white coconut cupcake has a special place in this foodie's heart!

Oh and memo to the member known as "Crave Sucks" - please define "plenty of time". These guys are still a small operation, and is not Co-op (no offense to Co-op's bakery!) Your definition of "plenty of time" isn't the same as theirs. Think before you grind that axe!
Lindsay
So good..... Get the regular size one and split it with a friend. A full one is hard to handle on your own.

Cupcakes are deliciously amazing for kids. 10 and up
K
Overrated and overpriced. The icing is super sweet but it's good. Cake base is plain. Nothing special.
Cairn
Can't eat more then one.. They are too sweet, but I love the peanut butter icing. Can't walk by without stopping for one.

Overdose on Sweet once in a while .... The frosting is the star of these cupcakes. Comes in many flavours, thick and creamy, and very sweet. Cake itself is good, but nothing special --- comes in chocolate, vanilla, or red-velvet.

I love the minis, as the full-sized ones are a bit too much for me to handle. Red-velvet cake with cream cheese frosting is my favourite --- not as sweet, but every bit as decadent as their other offerings.

Great treat once in a while --- especially for birthdays.
