Review Spolumbo's - Calgary

Jill Hacker
Had been wanting to come here for ages and finally made it on Saturday. Ordered the 9th Ave which is pictured here. It was pretty good - felt like it was missing something but otherwise satisfying. Large portions. Only complaint was every single table was filthy. Crumbs, smeared food, wet rings from beverages. It was mid afternoon and while it was steady, it wasn’t so busy that they could’ve have had a staff cleaning tables. The bathrooms are in the basement - hopefully there are more accessible washrooms on the main floor. This is something I always think about as someone with a limited mobility family member.

Update July 11 2022 - I love it, Wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often. But what happened to the bread on the meatloaf sandwich? The meatloaf is still outstanding, I'm not sure when they changed it from an Italian bun to this pita like bread but it takes a great sandwich and makes it very mediocre at best. Yuck. The Tomato salad is so delicious here, wow good! Update Jan 26 2022 - It's been quite a while since I've enjoyed the delicious food here, what with Covid and all I guess. But I had an appointment nearby so stopped in and grabbed a sandwich to bring home. Of course the cutlet parm, still incredible delicious! I've missed the pickles! Thanks for the delicious food again today. Original Review - I travel a lot, well not these days, but one thing I love and pretty much every city I've been to or town on any continent is the fact you can get a great sandwich pretty much anywhere. Calgary is my birthplace and I love this city, but I always tell people it is chain restaurant hell here. Spolumbos Is a special place, a place where everybody can feel welcome even though it is sports themed inside. It is owned by former Stampeder football players, and more often than not you are greeted by one of them coming in and yelled across the restaurant thank you when you were leaving. I don't mind the drive coming here because I know that the food is always incredible and then the atmosphere is great. I pretty much have to go-tos, either The Mamas meatloaf or the cutlet sandwich and I add hot peppers to both. Both of these sandwiches are so filling and you know you should only eat half and take the other half home but you can't stop because they taste too delicious with the amazing tomato sauce dripping down your hands and arms while eating them. Wow I'm getting hungry again! They also have a counter where you can buy different flavored sausages and a freezer where you can buy prepared meals all for very reasonable prices. This is a must eat at place if you are visiting Calgary and a must eat that place if you live here.

This is an iconic place in Calgary and, if you haven't been here before, you should definitely give Spolumbo's a try. I've shared many meals here over the years with good friends (my favorite is the Montreal smoke meat) and they make terrific sausages! What keeps us coming back is the desserts. We can never leave this place without bringing home extra peanut butter chocolate chip bars, date squares, chocolate brownies and the incomparable magic squares which are truly magic!

Been coming here since I was a kid. Great food, amazing staff. It was a pleasure meeting Connor recently who treated me and my co workers exceptionally well whenever we come in. I find these guys make great consistent food, it’s always perfect. And everyone is super smiley. Thanks guys! Keep it up

Always loved the food here. Their sausage products are the best in town. I was absolutely blown away by how much the owner does for the community. Brings extra meaning to "support local".
Nicole
Would recommend going in if possible. Have ordered them on skip before, the first time it was great but she second time they sent me pork instead of chicken. I don’t eat pork for dietary reasons. Couldn’t get it refunded, super disappointing.

Can't beat this place when your in the area and need something to eat. Not in the menu but ask for the budget special! One of their sausages on a bun with 2 huge meatballs and tomatoes sauce, its so good.
Shawn Patterson
We've been in the area 5 times now and never seem to get here in time to pick up their beef chorizo sausages. Frustrating. Sorry can't get there after work. Sunday also you are closed. We are in the area all the time but can't get there within your business hours. Any options?

This is by FAR the best place in Calgary!!!! Tony Spolintini has the biggest heart, the staff is warm, caring and friendly beyond compair! I can't say enough about this wonderful family. I will forever be grateful for their kindness and generosity. The food is insane good! The charity they give back to those in need and their community is inspiring! Best Italian Deli in town!!! ❤️
Ger Forbsie
The best deli in Calgary, the three amigos Tom , Tony and Mike are the most generous philanthropists in town and don't mention a word about it. Tony's Mom and dad work at the deli and they are both gems. It doesn't get more old world, old values than Spolumbos. The food is fresh, locally sourced and amazing

Spolumbo's is a true Calgary gem and a must for anyone visiting town. The amount they give back to the community cannot be measured. Serving great food and treating you like family on every visit.
Bobby Jobin
Had a sandwich there about 16 yrs ago and bragged to my family about how great it was, finally got a chance to visit Calgary again and took my daughter there to try one of the sandwiches. She absolutely loved it. The place sure has grown in those yrs but the food and service are still awesome. We went to St. Mary's high school when Mike Palumbo was there and he was a good friend of my brother . I will be making Spolombos a regular visit on my trips to Calgary

Never ever have I been there and had a bad meal! Truly an amazing place and atmosphere - like everyone is sitting at one big table and eating together. Thanks!!

A good Italian sandwich shop serves crisp bread not soggy mushy chewy right out of a plastic bag. The beef was overcooked and dried out. I grew up in an Italian neighbourhood down east with legendary shops like San Franchesco and Comisso Bros. and Racco. You do not even come close. Warm and crisp is the minimum standard for an Italian sandwich and there you fail dismally.
Phil Hammond
The best deli in Calgary. No doubt about it! Great guys too! Do so much for the city.

Whether I'm in inglewood, at a flames game or now at the airport , eating at spolumbos is the best. As good as the food is the people are even better and deserve all the success that they have!
Rex Scott
The food just melts in your mouth. Mmmm , I had the turkey loaf. Just as good as Mamas meat loaf.
Suzanne Falardeau-Russo
Always the best! Food is always fresh and the best taste. Service from absolutely everyone has always been exceptional.
Kylea Isaacs Evans
awesome food , great service and the best sausage on the planet
Steve Hurley
Always great food, big portions. Meatloaf sandwich is to die for!
Janie Mcbride

The other day my husband and I went to have some lunch. When we left my husband said "What did we do to deserve that?" Apparently our lunch was on the house! This was so amazing to me and I can't express enough thanks! You guys made my week! I would have expressed more thanks while there had I realized what had gone down, and I don't remember names, so please take this thanks as my best way to say "WOW"...and ...the food and the service was TOP NOTCH!
Darren Pettipas
Ate here for the first time in 2007 and ever since then have been obsessed! Just visited Calgary again this week and ate there 3 times and bought some sausages to bring home! Bring Spolumbos to Halifax please !!
Tom Buck
I love this place and get regular cravings for the meatball sandwich.
Kurty Bird
Great place, food was good. Meatloaf sand which was good, but weird!
Jacob YYC
If you love Spolumbo sausage you will love the deli. Either eat in or take away the food is well portioned for the price and location. I have had an issue once with a roll that was dried, but it was replaced with a fresh roll and a sincere apology. Diverse menu of hot and cold items and a clean, nostalgic ambiance. Another Inglewood delight!
Kelly Durocher
I love this place! It’s close to my house. The sandwiches are great but it’s not my go to. I love the lasagna and stuffed peppers for take out. It’s so easy to stop by and pick up pasta and sausages. It’s such an easy healthy meal when I don’t feel like cooking. Back to the sandwiches, they are fresh and delightful. (The side pickles are so yum) <br/>One of the things I love about spolumbos is they always support the community and always help with donations for community events. :)

This sandwich was pretty Average on Friday at Lunch but theres has been good quality sandwiches. Try to avoid Rush hour as they may have more time on each sandwich
Sobotkajohn
The breakfast sandwich had a pre made egg patty. Was ok overall, a fresh egg would have taken it over the top. Please serve a fresh egg Spolumbos
Emma
Today was the first time coming here for sunday lunch<br/>Got the special sandwich was sooo tasty only down fall was the bread was dried out right thro the middle, Was basically a cracker. <br/>So i ate it with out the "bread" <br/>Next time i will ask for soft bread <br/>But the meats and spread was so tasty<br/>And the pickles OMG so good
Kendra Jones
This place never gets old for me.  Love the salads, and the feel in the place.  Sandwiches are dynamite, only heartbreaker.... they don't open Sundays.  Parking is super easy, they have their own lot on the side.
JimmySweetzYYC
Spolumbo's is staple in Calgary and home to the best sandwich in Calgary, the Spolumbo's Special. The quality of the ingredients and freshness of the bread are consistently excellent. The service is always great and personable contributing to the comfortable atmosphere along with the local memorabilia on the walls. As good as it gets for sandwiches and sausage.

I appreciate the concept. You can get this stuff in Safeway for half price. You get this at the Stumps games. Awesome with onions. The deli brings it into focus. It's a nice spot. It's good. It's Calgary. You're paying for it. It's a hot dog not a piece of art. <br/>

Living in Calgary you're almost guaranteed to come across Spolumbo sausages at some point. They're at the local grocery store or at the local diner. While their sausages are good they are not anything special. If you work in an office you've probably come across their sandwiches as well. This seems to be the go to place in Calgary for Italian sandwhiches. They're big and very hearty. Going into Spolumbo during lunch time, it's generally hard to get a seat. <br/><br/>
Nicole Justine
This is in a great location. Inglewood is such a nice area to wander around when it's nice outside. Came here for lunch with my boyfriend. While I am a fan of their sausages, I didn't know they made anything else until we went in. Their sandwiches are tasty and are well portioned. The gentlemen working there are always friendly and great at answering any questions you might have. Would probably come here more often if I didn't work/live so far away.
Shannon Polasek
Absolutely love it here, it's a staple in our house hold. No other product compares to this sausage, it's natural, it isn't greasy, and the flavour combos are so delicious. In terms of the deli, the sandwiches are so good. The bread is fresh and crunchy and the cold cuts are tasty! Tuesday's are Spolumbo bun day and it's by far my kids favourite thing. I strongly suggest giving it a try, it's busy but the line seems to fly by. Great job to the owners and staff! Keep it up!!
HungryHips
Best sausage I have ever had... Won't buy another sausage anywhere else: also... Meatloaf sandwich is to die for! A family staple for sure, no other product on the market compares. We make sure to head down to the deli on Tuesday's for Spolumbo bun day, they're our absolute favorite!!

Ah ok no big deal, lots of noise over a sandwich, thought it was ho hum, nice to see locals do well but didnt think it was worthy of all the hype.

Came here today with a friend for lunch.  It has been awhile since i have been here.  Parking lot is not that big and is always packed. We luckily found parking from someone that was leaving.  When we got in, there was already a long line up to order. We grabbed an open table and went to look at the menu board. There was lot of selection of cold deli sandwiches and hot sandwiches to choose from.  They also have a deli counter where you can buy their sausages to take home. While in line, they have servers asking you what you would like so they can get your order started. By the time you are at the front of the line to pay your meal is ready.  The line went by relatively quickly. I ordered the Cutlet on Kaiser and it was delicious! Big portion and it came with a risotto ball and some pickles.  I would definitely get the same thing next time i return.
Food4thoughtz
I love sandwiches and spolumbos really does it for me. I usually order the spolumbo special and it's rather large so I eat half in the restaurant and then I eat the other half a few hours later. My boyfriend orders the spicy sausage and he loves it so much he sometimes orders two. We are never disappointed when we leave here.
Dawne Law
Staff were friendly and quick, despite it always being extremely busy in the afternoon! It was a bit messy in the serving area as you were not directed toward your order and it was not clear if you were to pick it up yourself or wait for someone to indicate that you could (and whether or not you paid at the pick-up counter or not). The area was a little small for the business that they were getting so there are rarely any seats but I love that there is also patio seating available so customers can enjoy their food outside whenever there's good weather.
Hitting The Sauce
...we popped into Spolumbo’s Fine Food and Deli for lunch. The line-up stretched down past the condiment table but the wait wasn’t long. Employees would pop out and ask you what you wanted so our food order quickly came up. I was delighted to discover that Spolumbo’s sells draft beer by the glass ($3.75) to wash down our food...
Tyrell Scott
Awesome Italian deli food! The meatball sub is a classic and Spolumbos is the best I have had. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and quality. The service is top notch and very friendly. I would eat here more often if they were open later for dinner.
Cheftodd38
Wonderful Italian Deli!. Really enjoyed our sandwiches here. Despite how busy it gets at lunch, they are pretty quick at getting your meal together. Seems very authentic Italian. The desserts were fantastic! Also appreciated all the sports memorabilia on the walls.
Paras2mohajer
Amazing Food. I was surprised by their sandwiches!!! super delicious :)
Jamesbgood
Awesome deli style sandwiches!. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood of Inglewood I always try to grab a bite at this iconic establishment. The sandwiches are always excellent and fresh. If you're a Calgarian and haven't ate here yet then what heck is the matter with you, lol.
El Guapo
Great food, dirty tables. I love the food here, the sandwiches are awesome but there is one issue I always find, nobody ever seems to clean the tables. There are always so many employees working, but not one out cleaning the crumbs off the tables, its unfortunate.
Ian Stinson
Foods OK.... Have been to Spolumbo's 10 times and every time the tables are disgusting. They are either not cleared or are cleared and never wiped clean. This time I would have walked our if my girls didn't want to eat here so badly.
Colin Olson
Just a frigin bute, love their sausages and sandwiches
Peter
Overall Good. For this sausage lover, Spolumbo's makes food that's just fine. I'm pretty sure that it won't impress pig-sty dwelling narcissists with dreams of being the CONfident authority of haute cuisine. If you're one of these people and you step into Spolombo's expecting them to make only what YOU want to eat, then maybe you should spend more time with a specialist. <br/> However, if you appreciate sandwiches then check these guys out! You may be impressed, and satisfied.

No fuss good food for good price. The food is OK. Deli Sandwiches and good cutlets. Price is good too, and the bread is fresh. Although I would like a wholewheat bun too. The tomato salad was way too garlicky. Raw garlic from a jar dumped on top of tomatoes with olive oil and some lemon and vinegar. The rest of the food is good for the price. I don't know how this place has gained a legendary following. If mediocracy deserves a legendary following then this is your place.
Michael Buchanan
Not Great. Only been once so have to give it another try but it has potential needs to get better bread its a sandwich place how can you serve crappy bread at a sandwich shop. hopefully next time better experience.
Ned Tanner
Wow, I read some reviews of this place and was really confused. How the hell can so many people like this place. Been three times and every time I was posses off. Staff thinks they are to cool, my sandwiches have all been bad. You could cut your gums eating that bread. I'm shocked this place is so popular., but so is Peters, and that spot really makes me need to go bye more groceries.
Hopelessly Hungry
Easy yummy sandwiches. Terrible coffee though. Try the Italian Sausage on a bun with marinara. Mmmmmm
THE BEAR
No beer glasses. Went to spolumbos on a saturday last month . we ordered food and it was very disorganized. my daughter ordered a sandwich and they said they would call her when it was ready because they had to cook more sausage. we waited for 20 minutes after they said it would be a few minutes. i had a draught beer that they served me in a water tumbler because the guy pouring the beer said they dont have pint glasses. what kind of place serves beer in small water glasses. not impressed , for the second time i was there. i bet polumbo and spolitini dont drink their beer from water glasses.

I always love going to Spolombos, especially on Saturday for the porketta muffulata!! It's is the best sandwich I've Ever had!! I've tried the meatloaf sandwich as well which is also delicious but it is a bit messy and hard to eat. The meatloaf appeared to be stuffed with prosuitto and cheese, served on fresh bread with tomato lettuce and mustard. The soup I had was a lentil with sausage it was very good! I could almost picture an Italian "nona" in the kitchen preparing it early that morning. I will definitely be back ASAP, and I might have to make it a regular weekend occurrence!!
Dom Spoletini
Spolumbos is the best! i love everything on the menu !!!
Neil
Food is great (except the meat loaf...gross!) however their prices have gotten so expensive now, I tend to want to stay away.
Grant
I only ever get the parmigiana sandwich, the "budget" special (sausage and meatballs on a bun), and sometimes the classic Italian cold cut sandwich. All are amazing (especially parmigiana). Make sure to get there before 11:30 or be prepared to wait for your food and a seat.
Laura G
Mini Sandwich - Bad Service. Ordered a sandwich in a long line up of people - by the time I got to the till I paid far too much for 1/2 a sandwich that when I got back to work found that everything I had asked to be left off was kept on and everything I wanted on the sandwich wasn't there. Also they left me no napkins in the bag and I didn't get a receipt even though I asked for one. I doubt a sandwich is worth that much trouble on 9th Avenue especially when there are other deli's that are on that street
Herb
Good sandwiches, not cheap. The meatloaf sandwich was really good and it was alot of sandwich. It wasnt cheap and it would be nice if it came with a few chips even or something. The included pickles where good though. At $22 for 2 sandwiches and a pop it just seems a little pricey to eat in. The sausages are great to take home and cook though!<br/><br/>And dont forget to enjoy Spolumbos sandwiches on Westjet flights from Calgary!
DJ Eclipse
Been in Calgary for 15 years yet today was the first time that I've had the veal parmigiana sandwich. I feel that I've been missing out this whole time because it was simply amazing. I also love the chicken apple sausage.
Carnivore
As someone of italian heritage this place is close to heaven for me. The fact that my asian girlfriend craves it more than I do should say it all. Fantastic Saturday lunch joint, if I worked closer it would be a weekday lunch joint as well.
Rebecca Strand Bowman
Just had the WORST service. My husband is Celiac and we asked for a meal without a bun. First got it with a bun, then cancelled the order and got a $6 refund for a $10 meal. WTF?!?! So, $20 for lunch and he got to eat a sausage. Guess we're never going back.
TMS
Great Lunch!. Tried two Spolumbo's Special's with my hubby and we were very pleased! I was also happy that they serve coca-cola in a glass bottle which is my fav. The meat tasted very fresh and the lettuce and tomato were nice and ripe too. Next trip, I've got my eye set on the meatball sub! Great place for a quick lunch.
Vic-20
Stay Away from Momma's Meatloaf! It tasted like major bread loaf! I was quite disappointed at this sandwich. It was like no 'meatloaf' I've ever had. While the flavones were there, the texture was like puréed filler. Blech!
Col. Saunders
Got a chance to have spolumbos for lunch, i had the spolumbo special and holy crap was it huge for the price i paid for it! good deal and i had the soup of the day which was clam chowder, very good! <br/>what impressed me was their customer service<br/>we ordered lunch for 5 people and when we got back we realized they forgot one of the sandwhiches, we gave them a call and the owner came and dropped it off for us! <br/>cant wait to go back and try another !
Quebecoise
Fast & friendly service, nice sandwiches. Went for lunch with my husband a few weeks ago on a Friday off, as I recall, where we were quickly served (thanks to some smarts by the staff who took orders in the line-up). I got the meatball sandwich while he got some kind of italian deli sandwich. We were both pleased with our lunch, though I'd say the meatball sub might rise a little higher in my esteem if it had had some fresh basil on it (it was just missing a 'lil somethin' somethin').

6 strikes and they are OUT!. Have been to Spolumbos 6 times over as many years. Service sucks (20 minutes for a take away sandwich with only 3 customers in line ahead of me?!?!?! and this has not happened just one time). Staff are either confused, surly or just plain rude. Food is overpriced and mediocre at best. And - no - I haven't been there during the lunch rush; I have experienced this 'service' at 11:00 am and 2:30 pm.<br/>Over rated. Over priced. I am so done with Spolumbos!
Brian Eel
In the year 2011, overrated. It's tough to truly judge Spolumbo's in the year 2011. I just recently moved back to Calgary (was living here from 2003-2007) and Spolumbo's used to be something special. But now I get the sense that their menu is getting kind of routine and bland. <br/>The food is fine. Just nothing special now in the year 2011. So I'm left a little disappointed because their food and prices no longer excite me and I don't want to go there all that much any more unless I inexplicably have a craving for a bland Italian-style sandwich.
Denise
Great Customer Service. I frequently drop in to pickup fresh sausage. I had a small issue with a mix up in my order and I later phoned Spolumbos to tell them about it. They were very good about it, said to drop by and they would replace my order.<br/>They not only replaced my order but gave me some extra.<br/><br/>Talk about good customer service!! It still exists in Calgary and you can find it at Spolumbos.
Lars
It can get a little busy but the service and the eats are always worth the wait. You can never go wrong with a Spokumbo's special.
Mamasita
I absolutely miss this place for some yummy deli meat sandwich since being in Vancouver:(<br/>I always get the spolumbo special and they have half sizes for the light eaters and whole wheat bread. I love the tomato salad. I haven't tried anything else but i was told the meatball sub and italian sausage is delish also. they give u a side of pickles along with your sandwich and its always busy there during the lunch time hrs. u have to try!!!!
PEECUP
Awesome!. Spolumbo's Deli rocks! They have a variety of menu items, although I've only ever tried their sandwiches. <br/>It's nice to be able to purchase the sausages for cooking at home. <br/>I recommend spicey italian or chicken apple.

Cutlet on a kaiser - enough said. We finally had a chance to eat here - it's impossible for me to get to Inglewood during the week as I work in downtown, and so I finally had today off and nudged my husband to go. We both love Spolumbo's sausages, but I wasn't coming here to eat that (I ate enough of them over the Summer on the BBQ). What was calling my name... was the cutler on a kaiser. Hubby did end up getting a spicy sausage on bun.<br/><br/>Let's start with mine first. Hmmmmm it was only five hours ago that I was eating this, and I am still thinking about it as I'm typing this. Two pieces of huge, like I mean, really huge pieces of breaded pork cutlet, along with sliced tomatoes and lettuce, sandwiched between a large kaiser bun with mustard smeared inside. Wow. I could not believe how tasty this was, and what a huge portion! The pork was juicy, succulent and with just the right amount of fat for the meat to stay moist. Seriously, I'm 27 weeks pregnant and couldn't finish this - good thing for hubby. His spicy sausage on a bun, in comparison, was a fairly shabby deal for just a dollar less. He definitely was not full from his lunch so he got 1/4th of mine.<br/><br/>The little eatery was fairly packed for lunch (of course). I cannot wait to go back. I wonder how big the crowds are on Saturdays!
Ne Povem
Awesome sandwich. The best sandwich in years.Great bread, excellent salami.
Tatiana
Good sandwiches, bad hours. I live in Inglewood for a couple of years and visited the flagship store whenever I could. But since they keep such asinine hours I would often get there (from downtown, a fifteen min. bus ride away), too late. By closing by 5:30 I bet you they lose tons of local evening traffic that would love to get take out on busy nights.<br/><br/>The sandwiches are solid, from the Special to the messy meatball sub, most are quite good, homey and filling. The odd salad is fine, but you'll be full enough from the sandwich trust me. They're served on fine white buns that (mostly) manage to retain their shape, even while dripping in marinara sauce.
Guysgottaeat
My favorite lunch. I live in Edmonton, but am in Calgary 1/week minimum. I visit Spolumbos on almost every trip. You just can't go wrong. The staff are very friendly, the menu easy to navigate and food is fantastic. My favorites are the Meatball Sandwich or the Spicy Sausage Sandwich. The meatloaf isn't every day, but if you are there and it is offered, you can't go wrong with it either. I always add on a tomato salad. Price is great, parking is ample and free. Get there early, because the line up is long.
Kat
Best Pickles. Knowing Spolumbo's mostly for their sausage, I was surprised at the many sandwiches available. I had the Spolumbos Secial which wasn't really uniquely special but definately fresh and tasty. The pickles that came on the side were amazing!
JunkFoodVeggie
ALWAYS AWESOME!. Usually quite busy at Lunch, line goes fairly fast, but a little extra wait is worth it. You can take home some fresh baked loafs as well as sausages in their deli. I've been going since I was quite a bit younger, I LOVE the pickles, portions are great, sandwiches are FRESH! The owner's are often there, ex Football Players, & they come around & greet you, pick up your tray. Very friendly. Very Italian. ;)
Not_fussy
Consistantly awesome. Where else in Calgary would you rather go for the best, biggest sandwhich?<br/><br/>Not only are the sandwhiches amazing, the sides are also very yummy!<br/><br/>Everytime I come here it is busy (if a place isn't you should wonder why not) but they get thru the line relatively quickly. Friendly and helpful staff with great food.<br/><br/>I love this place!
Big Fat Fatty
Sandwiches what's not to like?. Great sandwiches, The Special is a fav and so is the Meatball. Forgo the soup, it's rarely as good as the sandwiches. Parking is a bit of a pain, but other then that, should be a good time. Perfect for a Saturday lunch while you're out being Joe Hipster in Kensington.
Chris Corea
Awesome, can't beat the spicey sausage on a bun and the kids love the meatballs.
HungryCanadian
It's Alright. I got the Spolumbo's Special, which was ok, but not the best sub I have ever had and for almost $10 if it wasn't for the bun would have been way too much. The Bun was the best part and the rest was not too much different flavor than getting a Mr Sub. I would go back again but not for the sub I would try something else.
Lucy Syh
Its okay. I dont see what the big deal is..<br/><br/>i would never eat there again!<br/>i was the only Asian there! <br/>so awkward!!!<br/><br/>the white people give u stare
Len Lindstrom
The Deli's of all Deli's. You will not find a better place to go get a great lunch. The best sausage's in Alberta with out a doubt. Highly highly reconmend Spolumbos
Katherine
Oh its good.... I like everything about Spolumbos but just one thing I wished they had is mild chorizo like there Italian mild sausage.
CowTown ChowHound
Top notch deli food. When I lived in Ramsey I used to visit the original location fairly often. I've been to the new one a few times and found the quality to be very good.<br/><br/>I really like the sausages and like the fact they are consistent between batches, so you always know what you'll get. I've been to some small sausage shops and find they can vary widely in quality and taste from one week to the next.<br/><br/>As for the rest of the food, their Cutlets on a kaiser are great and so is the Spolumbos Special.
MCalgary
It's okay. I really don't get the big deal about Spolumbos. I've eaten there once and we often have their sandwiches for lunch meetings. Maybe I just don't appreciate lunch meat but I find it quite pricey for just a sandwich.
Dean
Benchmark for deli food. Nothing touches Spolumbos sausage (on the retail level anyways).....I have always had great service and great food. My favorite is the Italian Trukey Panini Sandwich....meatball Panini is pretty amazing also. Never heard a bad word about this place.
Nevin Van Nest
Best place in town to grab a sandwich. Their sausage is also to die for and they have some of the best deli meats in the city. You can' go wrong with Spolumbos.
Purdy
I LOVE SPOLUMBOS!. It's taken me years to finally go and grab a sandwich here..... I was always put off by the fact that I had to pick it up and then find a table (or that no one was going to "serve" me). Finally today we stopped to have lunch there. The lineup was something else, but it did move fast. In no time we were sitting at a table eating the most wonderful sandwich, that was so big. I took half of it home and cannot wait for tomorrow so I can have it for lunch! Excellent place, so sad I waited so long to find out!
Cheryl
Great stuff. I have to say that spolumbos, has a wide variety,of some of the best deli meats, salads, and other delicious foods ,that I have ever had the privlidge of savouring,The staff and owners make, the ombience,a family encounter which makes you want to keep coming back, day after day.Hats off to all of you at spolumbos, for making my experiences at your establishment so rewarding and entertaining
Dish 'n' The Kitchen
When we were finished stuffing our faces with Spolumbo’s deliciousness, I waited in the ‘sausage line’ to get us some sausages for the weekend. From my Spolumbo’s experiences of the past I knew I would be there a while and today was no exception. I definitely think this area of the deli could be a bit more efficient. For example, when the employees see that a line is forming or when there are several people waiting for sausages perhaps it would be a good idea to help out the person working in that area. Dealing with the customer, weighing and packaging the sausages takes a lot of time. Especially if that customer wants every type of sausage in the case! I was second in line and I was there for a good 20 minutes. Not really efficient where there were at least 5 people behind the counter and the lunch rush was over. I finally ended up getting the remainder of the fresh bratwursts for ‘lupper’ Saturday and some maple breakfast sausages for Sunday breakfast.

Aside from an amazing sandwich selection, Spolumbo’s also serves up salads and has their famous sausage, lasagne’s and other dishes available for take home. Next time you’re in Inglewood, check it out for either a quick snack or a sit down lunch, your meat craving will thank you.
Gluten Free Edmonton
#fullpost{display:inline;} Photo courtesy of www.spolumbos.com It's May, so it is Celiac Awareness month!  Time to share some great gluten free info! Sometimes people make it easy for us to share information.  A sales rep from Spolumbo's sausages located in Calgary, but distribute in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba emailed me to let us know that their sausages are gluten free.  Spolumbo's has a large list of products, all naturally gluten free, no fillers, no binders.  They even support the gluten free community and were at the Gluten Free Expo in Calgary .   Click here to see their Tweet in support of the expo. Spolumbo's is a great story out of Calgary as all three owners are friends in Calgary that all played in the CFL!  What a great way to support buying local in Alberta! You can find Spolumbo's sausages at  Save On Foods , Sobey’s and Safeways .  Be sure to check out their website to learn more!  http://www.spolumbos.com  or follow them at Twitter @Spolumbos. Next up is Spolumbo’s, I was totally wrong on my prediction of this beef on a bun. This one was heaping full of tender beef, slathered in a delicious spicy sauce in the best bun possible. This should be called a bun around a beef, the bun made this beef so good and we couldn’t stop eating this one till it was finished.

Today both Fuzzy and I went with the Cutlet Parmigiana. What a great sandwich! My mouth is just watering while I write this post. Just a perfect sandwich with tasty cutlets, cheese and sauce on a beautiful fresh bun with a side of pickles. The problem is when I have one of their sandwiches I want to go back everyday for one. If you’ve never made it down to the deli, head over there for some lunch or a snack, give it a try soon, you won’t be disappointed. I wonder if Fuzzy and I should start a Spolumbo’s food truck?

The charcuteri lovers dream spot. Spolumbos is famous for their cured meats and almost always packed deli. They serve a sandwich that is far from average, and is definitely not typical Subway style fair. They also supply many grocery stores as well as Wesjet with their sausage and sandwiches respectively. There is nothing better than hopping on a flight knowing that the food on board is the Rolls Royce of cured meats.

I was definitely surprised at how unsalty the sandwich tasted, despite all the cured meats. There was also a hint of sweetness, that I think might've been from the mustard (or the bread? or the mayo?)
Are You Gonna Eat That
I may be a small, Asian woman, but I often have the appetite of a large football player. So Spolumbo’s pork cutlet on a kaiser ($8.50) is right up my alley. Spolumbo’s was started by three former Calgary Stampeder players. They know how to feed people. Th
