Been here many times before at several locations. This time was very good. Had a slight problem with a bizarre vodka martini but as usual the staff bent over backwards to resolve the issue. Was eating solo and the waitress did a good job engaging me in polite conversation which is nice when you are on your own. Food came out quick and was fresh and hot. Steak was as requested albeit mildly over seasoned. Love that they offer small versions of desserts. These places would sell a lot more sweets if they all did this.
Had a nice dining experience in the lounge at Chop. Our server was friendly and attentive without being overly keen which was nice and allowed us to have a pleasant dining conversation. Our food was really delicious and the one thing I noticed was that everything was perfectly seasoned. The food still had a line-cooked feel and some of our vegetables were underdone but overall a nice dinner. Price point is comparable possibly slightly higher than the keg. I would highly recommend the prime rib.
Steak was really good. Definitely get the truffle scalloped potatoes. I ordered the bone-in steak(?). Good soft texture, mildly flavored. Loved it. :)
An excellent steakhouse without a doubt! If you're getting steak, make sure to top it off the "The Chop Experience" and get the butternut squash soup. It is fantastic. On top of excellent food, we also received great service. We got a free mini creme brûlée since it was a birthday. I love their decor as well.
I had dinner here last night while staying in the adjacent hotel.
You always kind of worry about what you'll get when you're staying at an airport hotel because you're kind of a captive audience. However despite those conditions Chop exceeds the standard expectations.
From an atmosphere standpoint it's a fairly standard steakhouse - low lighting, dark colours, lots of wood - like any Keg you might have visited. We ate in the bar area, which was a little more brightly lit and open (and louder, although in a friendly way).
The service was very good - both servers who waited on our table were friendly and helpful without being obtrusive. Service from the kitchen was also pretty good, with a minimal wait despite a brisk dinner hour rush.
The food was excellent- steaks cooked to requested order, good sized portions, hot and fresh.
The price point is what you'd expect, about $140 or so tip and bar in for two. The quality is high enough that it's still reasonable value for a business traveller. I'd come here again, particularly if I was staying in the nearby hotels.
I had supper this evening at the Chop Steakhouse, which is close to my hotel.
I sat in the lounge, rather than the dining room, which was more relaxed. Sabrina, my server, started me off with some complementary warm rye bread and butter ... yum! I ordered prime rib with a baked potato (minus the horseradish). I found the huge plate an odd choice as it made the baked potato look small (which it was). I ordered my steak medium. It was cooked just the way I like it ... just a bit pink. It was good, tender and tasty but cold and the au jus was warm but not hot. They need to adjust their temperatures a bit. I would have given four stars had the steak been the proper temperature. Sabrina was very friendly and took excellent care of me.
Most amazing dining experience in a long time. My husband had made a reservation for our anniversary and the staff greeted us by saying Happy Anniversary when we arrived. We were each given a complementary glass of champagne plus received a card signed by all the staff wishing us a happy anniversary, with a gift card for next time. The customer service was fantastic - and the food was excellent! I had the hunter chicken, and it was to die for! It was perfectly cooked, tender, juicy chicken with an amazing sauce and the roasted vegetables were cooked to absolute perfection. I substituted the wasabi mashed potatoes for the lobster mashed, and they were delicious. My husband ordered the prime rib, medium rare, and it was the most perfectly cooked piece of meat he said he has ever eaten. He had a baked potato and roasted vegetables and said they were phenomenal as well. We started our meal with the steak bites, and they were so tender, buttery, melted in your mouth. For dessert we had the trio which came with small portions of three different options. The rum cake was ridiculous - soft, moist, and the strawberry coulis was perfect. The chocolate cake was very rich and had real dark chocolate. And the creme brulee was incredible, with a perfect crust on top, decadent center, with a hint of fruit topping to make the whole thing perfect. Our server was Mikayla, and she was a true gem. She was incredibly attentive and very, very friendly. She made suggestions and explained the menu fully, which was helpful since we had never been there. The food arrived fairly quickly and we were never left with empty glasses. The prices were comparable to other mid-to-high end restaurants like The Keg and Moxie's, and the portion sizes were great - we were both very pleasantly full by the end of the meal. The only slightly annoying thing the entire evening was the little manager guy with the Bluetooth thing in his ear, wandering around and talking to everyone at their table. I know that's what they do, but we were on a romantic date and our server had taken care of all our needs, so we really didn't appreciate him hovering at our table asking us questions that our server had already asked and taken care of. Other than that, this was by far the most incredible evening out we've had in a very long time. Highly recommend it!
