Review 4th Spot Kitchen And Bar - Calgary

Solid neighborhood eatery. I like the variety on the menu. There’s definitely something for everyone. The French Onion Soup was delicious! I love the cheddar puff on top. Nice touch and great presentation. The tacos were good too. My partner had the pizza and he said it was slightly undercooked in the middle. This isn’t a fine dining establishment so don’t expect the service to be amazing or you’ll be disappointed. I’d come back just for the French Onion Soup!

Went with a friend just after Christmas. Amazing food and service. Everything was flavorful and perfect. Good beer selection. More IPA would be great. They do make a delicious caesar though. Definitely recommend this place. Have also heard that the pizza is amazing but haven't tried.

Poor service but Good food. On our last visit to this restaurant we were made to wait for around 1.5 hours. People who came after us had even finished their meals. And our server messed up the order. We ended up getting only 2 tacos instead of 3. $18 for 2 is pretty expensive. The burger was great though.

4th spot is a cozy local haunt that serves comforting food. I really love that the restaurant pays homage to the neighborhoods around it with photos of well known areas throughout the years. Our server was friendly and efficient and the food was tasty. There is a small covered parking garage and pad that you can access from the alley behind.

Friendly service. Established kitchen with an array of tasty pizzas from crust to sauce to toppings. Fine beer selection. Enjoyed the Medicine Hat Red Ale to the mellow Stone’s Beast of Burden. Marble bar counter with comfy chairs. Up and downstairs. Booths and open spaces. Happy hour specials to keep a working stiff going. Shout out to Juniper

Was here first thing when they opened on a weekday and they weren't busy at all (total of 4 or 5 tables were occupied) so it was a nice place to sit and enjoy our lunch. The food was very quick to come out and our server was nice as well. The only thing was the food was cold and the pasta was really hard. I have had their carbonara on another occasion and it was really good. But this time it was cold, not as saucy, and the overall taste was very bland. We will be back and hopefully next time it's a bit better.

Really sad I never went here earlier. Everything on the menu is handcrafted, probably the best wings I’ve had in the city. Pizza was too notch too. Lots of great drinks and draught beer options. I only I wish it was walking distance to my place.

So we went to this pub for my moms 60 birthday. Went on Monday had pizza. We waited 48 mins for 3 pizza and it wasn't busy maybe 7 tables in the whole place. Not only was the service absolutely terrible. When you finally saw a staff member you had to flag them down . After placing our order all the staff just vanished leaving all the patrons looking for their server/ staff. People stood at the door no joke over 15 mins. 4 party's of 2 . Then get burnt pizza. Are you kidding me for my moms 60 birthday. What a joke. I had a thing of flowers for her it was obviously it was for an occasion. It was absolutely a terrible experience. Why on earth would I spend my hard earned $$ then the service be better at home.

We have tried several times. With take out, they give small portions knowing you won’t open it until you get home. I also ordered based on their menu on line and they did not have the one thing I had asked for, and had no similar replacement unless you wanted an easy salad I’d make at home for a lot less $ or all meat-based. Also, I asked if there were different sizes of chicken tenders, she said no and then quoted us 2x the amount that was listed on the online menu. So apparently there are different sizes but they are not listed and the phone menu person answered incorrectly. So many issues for such a simple order.

We went to this restaurant for poutine with purpose. They did a Guinness Stew Poutine for about $15. The meat was super tender and it tasted pretty good but I don't know if that was a Guinness Stew; more like gravy with meat on the side with fires and cheese curds. Overall, big portions and good service so we're happy.
The burger was really great. Good meat-to-bun ratio and the French onion soup was amazing!
Mike Billmer
Burger looked good but was not good, too much pepper in patty and the beef was fine ground, the texture was not right. I also got a poutine, not enough gravy.

Maybe it was just an off day … too bad, I was really hoping to get a good burger, not had one yet in Calgary.
Will try the chicken burgers, and maybe pizza next time.
I saw someone with nachos on the table, not enough cheese, about 50% had no cheese, and I really recommend organic non-gmo nachos because corn is one of the worst offenders.. as with soy.

My bf went there tonight to pick up the 2 take out pizzas we ordered. Not only did the waitress short us about $1.70 (which isn’t much but either way is stealing, she just assumed she deserved that money that wasn’t hers to begin with) but our pizza was also over cooked and tough. Will not be going back. Very disappointed because it was our favourite pizza place until now.

Everyone seems to love this place, maybe I ordered the wrong things but was not that impressed. Have come here on 2 occasions. The first time I got the chicken and waffle poutine. Honestly it was not good. The chicken didn't have much flavour, the waffles were super dense and like cakey, the fries and gravy were less than stellar. The second time I got the pizza. It was nothing to rave about. I prefer pizza hut pizza to the pizza I had, that might say something. Maybe in the future I will give this place another try as I always drive by it and see it super busy. Maybe whatever everyone else is ordering is great?

Nice spot. Local owned, friendly attentive service. Food always looks amazing, apparently the pizza is on point. We go for the fish tacos, get an extra aka carte and share. It’s enough for two. The patio is the place to be in summer. And $5 draft everyday. Can’t go wrong.

4th Spot is an absolute favourite! It’s in a great location (although parking can be a pain at times) and almost always busy! Like many of us who grew up in NE Calgary, our family used to go to Karouzo’s Pizza back in the day, and they have saved that memory (and presumably the recipes?) on their pizza menu. I love that the decor represents a love and history of Calgary through photos, maps, etc. I have tried a lot from the menu and have almost always been happy with my choices (although a few misses too.) I almost always order the French onion soup- I ordered it once and now almost always try to order, it’s so good! My only complaints are: it is often very loud (although I’m finding this a frequent complaint now that I’m firmly established in middle age!!) and their fries often leave something to be desired. On numerous occasions, either myself or others have been disappointed by fries that are either soft , barely warm, or even burnt. I suspect they sit out, rather than frying them up as they’re ordered but I don’t know for sure of course. Overall a great menu and experience!

We went there for lunch and once for happy hour. The food is above average but what turned us off was that they wanted to charge us for the packaging for any take home food!!! How distasteful. Never heard of a restaurant charging for the paper/ plastic containers for the take home items!

Been here a few times only tried there pizza and wings both are good the sweet chili coconut and the karate kid wings are delicious also wings are cooked perfectly.
Zolaman91
I have been here 4 times now, they have excellent pizzas.
Their service can be slow sometimes but otherwise excellent.
Used to go to Una Pizza for pizzas but I go here nowadays.

Took me a while to try this place since there are so few highly rated restaurants in the NW and I was pleasantly surprised. I've had the meatloaf here three times and it's quite good and consistent. Their maple bacon potato chips are really flavorful and unique. Portions are not an issue with these guys.

No reservations available after 4pm since I guess they're busy enough. The other thing that stands out is their large menu. Lots of variety with pastas, burgers, pizzas and more. Will definitely be back!

4th Spot Kitchen and Bar is one of those hidden gems that I was lucky enough to try. These guys don't seem to advertise themselves enough in Calgary. What I truly love about this place is their pizza. As a kid my family used to own a pizza restaurant in Calgary. I would always travel with my dad to buy fresh ingredients so I know what quality is. The pizza here is authentic (fresh toppings, dough cooked throughly with a nice crust, and also uses a similar italian sauce recipe my parents used to use). These guys also have wing nights on Wednesdays (good wings). I'd recommend giving these guys a try for their pizza.

Let me start by saying our waitress was AMAZING I really liked her, the service was great and the atmosphere was as well.
I unfortunately didn’t love the pizza here. It was really over priced in my opinion and the pizza tasted very basic to me. That would be my only complaint about 4th Spot!
Ordered the:
• 8" the butcher pizza: very flavorful
• 8" deluxe pizza: very cheesy pizza
• Lady spaghetti and meatballs: didn't like the bread it came with and the meatballs were very hard
• Kitchen sink penne: didn't like the bread it came with but the pasta was good
• Stampeder: not good, pretzel bun was very dry and the caeaser salad made him sick afterwards
• Chuck wagon chicken: just okay
• Meatloaf: good

Server didn't talk much and wasn't very engaging.

Love this place! The burgers are awesome. The appy shrimp is tasty. The pizza is also so good. Great little neighborhood pub. The service is friendly. the atmosphere is cozy and clean

This place is awesome!!!
There's a quaint patio out front and there's a restaurant in the middle where you first walk in and then if you go up a small set of stairs there's the bar. The place is huge. Service was awesome. They had amazing happy hour specials. $4 for a whole bunch of different appetizers from quesadillas to chicken bites to nachos to personal Pizza's. 2-5 daily.
Stephanie was our server. Very sweet and efficient. My friend and I shared a burger and it was delicious. For a burger and three happy hour specials, 2 beer and a coke our bill was $55!! The menu looks really good and there's a ton of other stuff on there I want to come back and try ASAP

I've been here many many times. Either after a sports game, team outing, Sunday golf or date night. They are always consistent with their food. Quality is there each time we go. Burgers and sandwiches are the best there. Also, try their old fashion drink. They make a very good one!

First time there, we went at 6pm and there was no wait (bonus)
I have a two year old and we felt very welcomed as there were other families there too.
I got the chicken quesadilla and fries, and it was the perfect amount of food, and delicious!
I ate it all and don't even feel like crap (like I usually do)
Will definitely be returning

4th Spot has been on my wishlist for a long time, but I hear that it can get pretty busy some evenings, so I hadn’t yet ventured out with Jay. I was treating my sister in law to brunch for her birthday and the weather was horrid (lots of snow and bad roads!), so I didn’t want to drive downtown as originally planned. 4th Spot was closer, and probably turned out to be the better choice anyways.

I have been to 4th spot a few times in the past few years. Each time I go, I enjoy the food I get as well as the service. It has a great atmosphere and design both inside and outside. Parking is very limited though, so you may need to par on the residential streets and walk. Recently, I went to try their nachos. They have changed it and now only have on size in comparison to a few years ago when there was two sides. We added pulled pork onto our nachos and we were extremely glad we did. It made the nachos much more delicious. Also, you can't go wrong with the portion size of the nachos. I would definitely recommend coming to 4th spot.
Cindy
Finally got to try 4th Spot after driving by it every day. This place is great because they're on the app "Nowait" which allows you to put your name on the waitlist without having to wait. A must-have is their thin crust pizza! I loved the "Three little Pigs" one. Not feeling pizza? Well then get their French Onion Soup!

I've been coming to the 4th Spot pretty regularly for the last several years. I'm very sad to say that we're ready to find a new 'go-to' restaurant. The last 5 times I've been the food has been a bit cold and clearly reheated. I used to find the prices fair when the food was 'Spot' on, but lately I just feel ripped off. Why do we keep going back? I guess we've been thinking they were isolated poor experiences. After tonight, taking my whole family to try the once to-die-for meatloaf and all receiving cold, bland dishes (one with a bonus long hair) I think we are now done. 3 stars? The service is usually good and there are some interesting signature dishes. They just need to get a proper chef back in there who doesn't cook ahead and reheat. No excuse for that with the prices they charge and how busy they are.

It was 8:30pm on a Wednesday and not totally full. I had the wings and vitamin sea salad. The food was 7/10. A/C was cranked. I froze my butt off for 1.5 hours. Manger closed down the patio that was much warmer than inside. It took 10 minutes to get to order a drink and another 10 to get it. The food was faster. Servers were kind cute. Temperature was as cold as the managers heart. ICE COLD!

Staff was friendly. Had the maple canuck burger, very good. The person I was there with had one of the other burgers and loved it. Highly recommend.

I really like 4th spot. The popularity of this place speaks for itself. The food is delicious, I usually go for tacos or the Maple Canuck burger. The fries can be a bit salty though. They have great specials during the week and the service is always friendly. Decent beers on tap including some local favorites. So happy to be walking distance from this place!

Cool little pub and not too busy. The food was good and came out quick. The prices were not bad either. Worth trying for sure. Especially if you live close.
Miss Foodie Of YYC
I love 4th Spot!

The "butcher shoppe poutine" is so good! Like if you are a meat lover, definitely try it out, and it's a big portion too! Also had wings, I love how it comes with veggie sticks as well, had the "cheesy pick up line" wings and this maple bacon wings. I never expected wings with maple syrup being so delicious. Definity try it!

I can't remember the name of the pizza I ordered, but it was on the spicier side, so I did not enjoy it as much. But don't think a small pizza wouldn't fill you up, 4th Spot very generous with their ingredients.

A really good atmosphere, and the servers are very kind, helpful, and friendly.

The only downside is, it gets quite busy, so sometimes there's a bit of a wait, but definitely worth the wait!

Highly recommend!

Love it! The menu is awesome, the food is delicious and the service is excellent. Every neighbourhood should have a 4th Spot Kitchen & Bar. I.e. Tuscany!!

Every local pub should take note to the success of 4th Spot and if you're hurting for quality food and service then make the trip, you won't regret it!!

Parking was a little tight, but once your eating it hardly matters! The food was great, I ordered the maple bacon burger with French onion soup and it was fantastic! Very flavorful burger with tender meat and the soup's presentation was impressive with a huge and stretched pastry lid baked to perfection. Hubby had the pulled pork poutine and it was delicious.... Definitely going back soon!

Great patio to sit and have drinks, food is good. The shrimp tacos are terrific! Pizza is great! We always have good service here. We have never had a bad meal here.
Jason Klassen
The service was excellent and the portion sizes were generous. The food was just OK. The thin crust pizza was more like a flatbread and lacking some toppings. The burgers were good but not great. I would give them another chance to improve this rating and go back.

We visited the 4th Spot yesterday for lunch. Great casual decor and attentive friendly service from our server Sarah.
Food:
We all shared a poutine as an appetizer. Very good!
Our youngest son had the Mac n Cheese. Flavorful and perfectly cooked. Homemade at home is always better but for a restaurant, very good.
My husband and other son tried the Rocky Mountain burgers. They were big and although the patty itself had a bit too much filler and some type of herb (plain old S & P always allows the beef flavor to burst), they were delicious.
My husbands Caesar salad was bland, warm and soggy and could have used a kick up in the acidity and flavor levels.
I tried the French onion soup and Jerk Chicken Tacos. The French onion soup was topped with puff pastry. Looked lovely but pointless if there is no cheese added. The soup itself was bland. French onion soup is something that should be carefully crafted with multiple types of onions slowly caramelized over time and simmered in a rich beef broth. This tastes like someone quickly fried up some onions and threw in a carton of beef broth. Disappointing.
The Jerk Chicken tacos were also a disappointment as the shredded chicken was dry and felt like sawdust in my mouth. The flavor was ok. I ended up eating about half of one and past the other 1 1/2 to our garburator son who will eat anything offered to him.
We will give the 4th Spot one more try and will order their pizza and pasta next time.

They have the best burgers in Calgary! The maple Canuck is my favorite. We come at least once a month and we always have great service. The waitresses are always so great with our one year old, burger Thursday has become a family tradition.

Food was decent, price was fair. Atmosphere here is great though, service is friendly and best thing is that their meatballs are stuffed!!! The spaghetti is a must try!
Vira Ostroverkh
Although the food is good both times I've been to this restaurant have not been peak times and both times I've waiting for upwards of 40 minutes for the food to arrive.

Was here recently on a Monday night and all of their pastas were on special, so I had pasta. Cold, thrown together and tasteless. Surprised as I have been before and the food has been fine and people certainly rave about the food on this site. Probably just an aberration. I will give them another try if the opportunity comes up.
Mad203
Love it have been here a few times, always have good service even when it's busy and food is amazing. Best french onion soup around and always tastes amazing. The burgars are top notch if you want a hearty meal. Good pricing for how much food you get. I will be returning alot even when I move to the SW.

We live in the neighbourhood so we come here nearly every 2-3 weeks. The only thing I do not like about this place is that they never seem to recognize us. It feels a bit cold for a neighbourhood restaurant. The service is what you'd expect from a pub like restaurant. They have a nice patio and I like that the upstairs bar is adult only. The food is always as expected. It is above average pub food and portions are huge. I often have leftovers for lunch the next day...:). I'm giving it a 4/5 compared to other restaurants of this genre.

My friends and I went here for dinner last night. It was our first time and we were excited to try it out as the menu looked appealing. We came with our appetites! We ordered nachos & the prawns for appetizers. The prawns looked good when they came out - they came in a spicy tomato type sauce with focaccia bread. They were decent - nothing amazing. The bread was better than the actual prawns. The nachos were mediocre - not a lot of cheese or toppings. I don't eat meat (other than some fish) and a few chips into my nachos, I pulled out a slice of porsciutto that looked like a chip because of how big it was. I put it to the side and waited for our waiter to come by. While we were waiting for our waiter, my friend found a slice of some kind sausage in the nachos as well. That's when we decided to just stop eating them because who knows what else was in there. The waiter didn't really have an explanation, and said that he told the manager as well the kitchen staff. He said no one in the kitchen staff would fess up to it and that the cheese and meat are not kept next to each other so he's not sure how it happened besides sloppiness. The manager never came by to say anything to us and the waiter was also surprised that the manager never came by. My friend and I then ordered the fish tacos and our other friend ordered the jerk chicken tacos. Our plates were pretty hot when we got them so I'm assuming our food was sitting for a while. The other reason why I am assuming this is because the fish was extremely extremely dry. The mango salsa was good, as were the smashed potatoes. But wow was the fish ever dry and bland. My friend said her jerk chicken tacos were decent luckily.
Overall our experience was not good at all and we will not be returning. Poor management skills and below average food.

Came here for dinner with some friends on Sunday night. Was not busy at all, good food and good service. Quiet restaurant was nice to catch up and can have a conversation with friends, a nice little gem in the neighborhood. Would come back here for sure.

I really enjoy coming to 4th spot. Every time time I have been here the service has been good and the food is always consistent too. Their weekly food specials are great too! Wine and wing Wednesday is definitely a fave. Quite a few vegetarian options as well. Nom!

Food: 4/5
Service: 5/5
Decor: 5/5

Came here for the first time on a Friday night. It was still fairly busy at 8:30pm-9:00pm. We ordered the daily soup which was a bacon tomato but the smokiness to it was too over powering. French onion was the best one I have ever had! Amazing! It came with puff pastry on top and it was just fantastic! We had the mussels too and they were also really good. And finally, the rocky Mountain burger: double patty, peppered bacon and everything you could want in a burger. My only issue was that we were a party of five and we didn't quite fit in the booth they gave us.
ES
Came during their pizza special night and the pizza was good! I didn't think the service was good though, it took a long time to get food and we waited for service the whole night. Menu seemed to have a good variety and the place was packed for a Monday.

Great place to go with friends. The patio is the place to be in the summer. Pizza at 4th spot is always good. Atmosphere is very inviting and chill. Great selection of wine.

I came here last Saturday based on the high ratings. I wasn't too impressed. It wasn't bad, but it really wasn't great. We waited just under 40 minutes for our meals. My friend had the fish tacos and she said they were OK but nothing special. I had the avocado burger and it was less than OK--The meat tasted weird (my two friends tried it and agreed). My other friend got a chicken burger (I don't remember the name) and he said it was OK. He also had the sweet potato fries and they were too salty (I tried them as well). The only thing that was above average was the french onion soup-- definitely one of the best I've had. I'm going to give this place another try and ask the waitress to make suggestions. Maybe these high ratings are based off of specific things on the menu?

Update: Went a second time, tried suggested things from the menu, and my rating remains the same. The food wasn't great and it took ages to be served even though it wasn't busy. My waitress rarely checked on my table and finished her shift without saying anything so we had to find a different server to pay the bill. Very disappointing.
Kelly M
Visited this restaurant for the first time on a Sunday night for a nice dinner, was extremely disappointed. We ordered the calamari appetizer, which tasted obviously off and as though the kitchen had tried to cover up the flavour of bad seafood by over salting. When we sent back the calamari the waitress was very rude and did not even take it off the bill even though we didn't eat any of it! Terrible customer service. The olive oil pizza was ok, nothing special. Definitely do not order any seafood here! It will make you sick and you'll still have to pay for it. I won't be going back here.

While there are a number of items on this kitchen and bar's menu I always keep coming back for the pizza. Offering an interesting Breakfast pizza for #YYCPizzaWeek 2015, the 403 Meaty Breakfast Pizza was probably one of my favourite pizzas this year.

Topped with huge chunks of a soft Spolumbo's chicken apple sausage and back bacon, this was satisfying in the delicious protein department. Smothered in mozzarella cheese, it was a heavy pizza, but the real highlight was the maple pizza sauce. A sweet base, it was a very interesting choice for a sauce, but it made the pie taste like breakfast because with the sausage it reminded me of a syrupy and savoury meal. Great effort on this pizza.

For the regular menu of pizza, there are some good finds. I know it's a carb bomb, but I actually enjoy the Perogy Pitsa with the mashed potatoes and Spolumbos sausage. Each pizza is loaded with toppings, so they're quite filling. A nice fluffy dough, it's dense enough to manage the toppings if you don't let it sit and soak through. Between their burgers, tacos and salads, I'll probably always choose the pizza.

In the midst of 4th Street NW, it's a bit off the beaten track, but even then 4th Spot is a popular place. A nice neighbourhood pub atmosphere, it's a great place for a drink and satisfying food. I recommend this place to friends looking for a place to meet in the North.

With all the great reviews we thought we'd give 4th Spot a try. Great location on the high street in the Mt Pleasant neighbourhood. There was a long line when we arrived so I thought we were in for a wait but ended up getting seated right away. When I quizzed my wife she told me the line was the wait for the Bar, we had been seated in the Dining Room. I have a theory as to why the wait is longer for the bar. I didn't get up to the Bar area but the Dining room was noisy, I mean, it was loud. Almost every table had kids, so there was a lot of banging and more than normal screaming, yes, screaming. My theory is that this is a regular thing and the people in the know wait to get seated in the bar because of it. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-kids, the fact that this place is family friendly is great. Good for 4th Spot for providing a place to bring the whole family for a meal out. Just something to consider if you're thinking of this eatery, doesn't seem like the place for a nice quiet dinner.Their Calamari we had as a starter was great. Took a while for it to arrive, but they looked super busy. We both had dishes off the Burgers and Sandwiches menu which took even longer to come than the appetizer. The burger itself tasted great but unfortunately it seemed it had sat under the heat lamps for quite a while. Lettuce had wilted and the fries had gone cold. Not sure if Saturdays are a bad time to go because of how busy things are or maybe we just hit a bad night but this was less than enjoyable for us. I'd hate to write 4th Spot off after 1 visit, maybe I need to sit in the Bar next time.

This place is reeeaaaaallyyyy good! I went there based on reviews and reaaaally enjoyed it....
Naaaaaaaaaaat!!!!!
I'm really stunned why people rated high on this place!!!
The service is good no complain about that, but the food is absolutely disgusting.. We ordered fish tacos, steak tacos and something bee pizza all thre entrees were bad... By bad I truly mean it...
The only ok food we got was a dish of wings...
Never ever go back and won't recommned this place at all.
Sam
Great atmosphere and a nice selection to chose from on the menu. My chicken was a little under but the friendly staff and cleanliness makes up for it. Their spicy ceaser is pretty delisious.
Trent Roddy
We are pretty regular customers there but Friday was a disappointment. Out of 4 meals 3 were below average. One well done steak sandwich was rare and the cuts cut itself was tiny. The medium steak sandwich was fine but tiny and the fries were cold and greasy. Jalapeno mac and cheese was over cooked and pretty small for the dollars paid. Overall not a great value for the price on the 3 meals. Fourth person had a salad which was great they said.
Corbett_
I'd say the service was appalling if we had actually received any. To call this a 3 dressed up as a 9 is generous. Gave this "Spot" a number of tries. I'm done.

Exceptional, casual restaurant with an adorable patio. Delicious food!!! I got the spicy burger :) and my son got a kids cheese pizza. The service was friendly and attentive. I can't wait to check out live music night!

Went there for dinner tonight , we shared a bruschetta which was delicious! Ordered the chicken quesadilla which was also very good. The waitress was excellent!

Fourth Spot is THE place to go in our neighbourhood, hands down.Tired of the restaurants/pubs with the fake decor and a menu and service to match? Then do yourself a massive favour and head down to Fourth Spot. The entire place is a tribute to the neighbourhoods around it - but this isn't why it's so popular. The food is ridiculous. Creative, fresh, great portions and prices that are especially good - not to mention fun (and cheap!) daily specials that quickly become part of your social routine.I won't bore you with details - go explore and experience this awesome local place for yourself - I'm just sorry every community doesn't have such a great place to enjoy!

UPDATE 08 JANUARY 2018:
I now love this place! Never used to like it but after having given it a couple more tries and ordered some different stuff I think it's fantastic! My favourite thing on the menu is the Notorious P.I.G. sandwich. Mmmmmm

Let me start by saying I live in the area so first off I really loved the theme and design aspects of this place with the maps on the walls and such. But I've been here over 3 times and I just can't like it, and I really wanted to like it! Every time I have been there I have tried something new and I always found that there was another place I'd been to that did that dish better. It was so disappointing. And I know that wasn't just me the people I was dining with felt the same way. It's also so close to my house so I was really stoked to finally have a decent place to go to that was close and I just haven't found that here. Maybe sometime down the road I may try it again, but not anytime soon...

A few days ago, we chose this restaurant for where we would get pizza when we emerged from the backcountry. Needless to say, there were some hefty expectations. The pizza was amazing, and will continue to sustain us on the drive tomorrow.
Kaylabmedley
Delicious burgers!! And definitely get the spicy mayo with your fries (it's not really spicy but soooo good). Only complaint was that the kitchen seemed really slow - not sure if that's an all the time thing or just today. Still worth the visit though! Excellent food and nice atmosphere.
Allison Bonell
Great atmosphere... Saucy balls are amazing and French onion soup is amazing. Defiantly come back! Staff was real friendly... Bring your appetite :)

Pizzas have gone downhill, tacos are basic and boring, service is hit and miss with some nice servers and some horrible ones. I used to frequent this place once every other month but think last night was my last.
YYCFoodie
Great pastas and pizzas. Fresh grinded Parmesan cheese which compliments the pastas and pizzas. Friendly staff. Lower level is for family and upper is more of a lounge. Awesome daily specials and good wine list.

Guys had a sweet meal here - meatloaf! For all ya who didn't get that: MEATLOAF! Really hip place, wore my sun glasses the whole time and no one said anything like the jerk at the army suplus.

Tons of beautiful girls where all over me but thats just how it is! Live music that I tried bobbing my head to but stopped cause I couldn't follow the beat very well.

Definatly in my top five for YYC! Hit the follow me button if you like food reviews.
Great Western food - sandwiches, burgers, pizza, etc. They have live music some nights, which is really great. The line to get in can be kind of long, but if you're patient, it's worth it.

4th Spot handles crowds really well, which is appropriate because this place gets crowded fast because of it's size. They handed out free alcoholic drinks and juices to people who were waiting for seats which was nice. The food here is good, and worth the price for many dishes like pizza/nachos. The waitresses/waiters are friendly and efficient. Overall, this place is nice restaurant for gatherings of small groups (6 max?) but I would avoid holding any larger gatherings here,

Great local eatery. We live in the area but have only been here once before. This evening we went as it was 'Burger and Beer' night. Essentially, all pints of domestic beers are $5.50 rather than $7+ and each of the burgers are about $4 off.

The weather is gorgeous so we sat outside on the patio. It has a nice ambiance, it's clean and it is a good size - big enough that you don't feel cramped and small enough that you feel like you're sitting amongst friends.

I ordered the veggie burger - I think it's called the Curry Samosa Burger or something like that and decided on the French Onion Soup that came with a $3 additional charge. Hands down, this was the most flavourful veggie burger I have ever had - the chutney didn't overpower the flavoured patty, it comes with spinach instead of iceberg lettuce and a tomato (standard burger toppings). Seriously delicious. But, what really stole the show was the French Onion Soup. When my plate landed on the table my eyes popped out of my head - the presentation is stellar and instead of just having croutons/cheese melted on top it actually came with a full on puff pastry with cheese. It was insane.

My boyfriend ordered the Maple Canuck Burger. He's a total burger-dude and he said "the patty is pretty awesome" and "I can actually taste the maple" This might not sound like much to you - but in my world, this means he really liked it LOL. As a side, he had the smashed potatoes, which came with a gravy and flecks of cheese in the potatoes, which he raved about. Who knew?!

All in all - awesome experience; the food was excellent and the ambiance was great. Our server provided excellent service. My only complaint (and really, everything else made up for this) is that it took too long for our food to come out given the place didn't appear to be all that busy. People in the restaurant industry are probably thinking "well, that doesn't mean much" but really, I was a little surprised that it took 35 minutes for two burgers.

I definitely recommend checking out this place and I want you to get the French Onion Soup - you won't regret it!

Always enjoy but just silly this time. We order weekly takeout from them. Usually have no complaints. Called to see if they could make us a simple BLT and was told the kitchen was unable to make it.....huh?
Good Bite
Pretty yummy pizza!. Lunched at the 4th Spot for the first time today - meeting an old friend I haven't seen for a while that loves the place. I really liked the vibe inside and the homage to local history. Always brownie points to restaurants that put hand lotion in the bathroom. As I waited for my friend I looked at the thin crust pizzas so many people seemed to be ordering and decided that was the way to go. I wasn't disappointed with the "Ring of Fire" - served piping hot and full of heat. My friend was not so lucky. He ordered a burger with sweet potato fries that he had to send back because they were "not even warm". I would definitely go back.

What a great neighbourhood place!! The service was fantastic as was the selection of drinks.

Not Worth the Money. Not at all worth our $80 bill. We waited 35 minutes to get a table just to get substandard service and a dry, over cooked meal. A kid-friendly place (whixh is great,) but I wouldn't recommend it for any other reason at all.

Was happy until the bill arrived. The food and service was good.
My daughters wanted root beer with there dinners.
Unfortunately the waitress didn't inform us that POP didn't include root beer off the kids menu. So I was on the hook for an extra $8! I wish she would have stated that root beer is NOT considered pop off the kids menu, made me unhappy she didn't state this prior.

Can't go wrong. Good food and good service, had a great bartender. Thanks Paul!

4th Spot is The Spot. We tried 4th Spot for the first time tonight. We arrived at approx 5:45 pm and already the wait was about 25 minutes, but I think we didn't have to wait as long as that - we did end up getting a table in the bar area when we requested the dining room , which turned out ok in the end. We find bar areas usually quite noisy(thus our request for the dining room) and this was no exception. I think my only complaint about the place was the noise, which was just as bad in the dining room. However, I look at it this way - long line ups and busy dining room usually ends up equating to good food.

We ordered the housemade roasted garlic and honey wings, which ended up tasting like pedestrian honey garlic wings, nothing special. To give them credit, even though the wings were on the smaller side, they were cooked perfectly. Not overly fried and dry which can happen at other places. The bacon jalapeno mac and cheese my husband ordered was seriously cheesy and bacon-y. It's quite spicy and our server joked that she would be surprised if he finished it and it's true ... this is a dish for true heat lovers. My Mahalo pizza (Ham bacon and pineapple) was ... dare I say ... one of the best pizzas I've had in the city to date. Thinner crust but very generous with high-quality toppings. Our dessert of chocolate cake was very good and a bargain with ice cream at $6.99. Overall, servings are very generous and we saw many people leaving with packaged left-overs.

The decor of the restaurant is modern but warm and inviting - it's a place where you'd go with friends and hang out over a beer, which we saw many people doing. The servers can't do enough for you and greet you warmly plus make sure they thank you for coming in. Highly recommended for a casual night out with friends - not so much an intimate dinner as the room is very noisy.

Great spot. Better sounding Menu then taste. My husband and I have been here twice now. The line up is usually 20-30 min wait but it seems to go by quickly. The front of house staff are friendly and efficent. The wait staff are also friendly and prompt. I have enjoyed my drink selection each visit but this past time the app we got was calamari. I did not enjoy it at all. Too small, over fried and just seemed off. My husband got the braised beef I believe. He enjoyed it. Said it was almost too much to eat in one sitting. I got the avocado friend hamburger. It was just ok. The sweet potatoe fries and dip made the meal for me. I will return but I will try something different. Maybe the pizza.

First of all FIX YOUR HEAT. On a freezing day in calgary they had their AC on over the lunch hour. I had to wear a jacket. Ridiculous. Took ages for food to arrive. Fries were warm when brought to table...so cold within a minute. Lettuce on burger wilted. (Maybe frozen...haha). Burger good but not over the moon. Overall: meh.

Great Service, Good Food, But.... My partner and I decided to try the 4th Spot on Wing & Wine Wednesday. Their menu online seemed really excellent, and we were excited to finally be going to this cute and friendly-looking neighbourhood spot.

When we got there, there was quite a large line up waiting for tables, but their staff members were quite organized--they took down names and gave out very accurate wait times. While we were waiting, someone came out offering up hot slices of house-made pizza. What a treat to have the establishment care about waiting customers.

Once we got seated, the servers were friendly, and very efficient--drinks were brought promptly. For our first round of wings, we ordered the Tough Guy (tasty suicide sauce) and the Jammin Mon (homemade Jamaican jerk). For our second round we ordered the Hotty Cowgirl (red mile mixed with BBQ sauce) and the Cheesy Pick Up Line (baked parmesan and red mile sauce). Here are the pros and cons of our dining experience:

PROS:
- Great value of wings for special night. The wings are large and juicy. Plus, the number of wings per serving was perfect.
- Service was incredible. We needed to send an order of wings back (see CONS), and the server was really wonderful about it.
- Restaurant definitely cares about its customers (eg. serving pizza to those of us in line).
- Offered us a beer sampler on a drink choice we were unsure about.

CONS:
- The wing flavours were DISAPPOINTING to say the least. The descriptions made them sounds wonderful. The so-called "suicide" wings were bare a "medium" heat. The Jamaican jerk rub may as well have been called "Cinnamon" because that's all we could taste. The Hotty Cowgirl tasted like unsauce wings--we just had to send this order back to get re-sauced. While the server was truly gracious in obliging this, we got the wings back COLD. Like the person in the kitchen tossed the wings in sauce from the refrigerator!!! So so so disappointing.
- The acoustics of the dining room are very weird, making the corner that we were sitting in thump with the bass notes of the speaker above us, and making it hard to have a reasonable conversation.

Ultimately, due to the service, care, and generally lovely atmosphere, we had a three-star experience at the 4th Spot. We are thinking about giving it another try--possibly for Burger & PInt Thursday, but we won't be returning for wings any time soon.

Always yummy and great service. I live they're meatloaf meal!

Worth the wait!. I drive past this place all the time, always see it lined up and think "It must be good, we have to try it one of these days". Well, finally on Friday night, we decided to make 4th Spot the location of our date night, and I can only say I'm regretting that it's taken us this long.
Showing up at 6pm on a Friday night, we were anticipating a long wait, but it was only 15 minutes before we found ourselves at a cozy table up in the bar area - the place is much bigger than I thought it was from the outside.
We took our time making selections from the unexpectedly great drink menu (wonderful draft, bottled beer and wine selections!) and browsing the food menu. So many things I would like to try, it was very tough to choose, but finally settled on the Station 7 Burger w/ fries for him and the One Love Tacos w/ sweet potato fries for myself. So good - I don't know what else to say, except I have been craving those tacos again since we left. The burger was HUGE and the boyfriend left truly stuffed, which doesn't always happen - he wasn't even able to help me finish my fries.
Everything about the night was great, I can't wait for another chance to return!

Had a fantastic dining experience at 4th Spot tonight! We had the inferno prawns and bruschetta, both wonderfully delicious, then followed with the vegetarian pizza and jalapeño and bacon Mac n cheese. The food was amazing, our server Amber was amazing and all around a lovely evening. Thank you 4th Spot :)

It's a neighbourhood joint. The food is not spectacular and a tad overpriced. Nothing is offensive or outstanding. The service is always friendly and attentive.

Good experience. The Chipole deep fried avocado burger was tasty and very interesting. Very good burger.

Wouldn't be back based on the pizza.. My BF and I ordered two pizzas to share, one thin crust and one original crust. Both were bland and the ingredients were cheap as can be. The pineapple was beige, the tomato was cheap and tasteless, and still green in the middle. the two pizzas were very different but tasted exactly the same. Not worth it.

Also, we waited about an hour for our pizza, but the waitress acknowledged that they had some burning issues in the kitchen, apologized profusely, and took 15% off of our bill and also gave us a free small veggie plate to tide us over.

The customer service was great, the pizza was about as bland and cheap as a school cafeteria.

If only I lived closer!. I have eaten here a couple of times and every time LOVE the food and can't decide what to get. The portions are huge, the quality is great and the selection is second to none. I've always had good service but the last time I was in I had Juniper and she was fantastic. She made great recommendations, was very friendly and we never had to wait for anything. It's nearly impossible to find a server like that in oil-town where jobs are way too easy to come by so you only have to be average to keep one.
The atmosphere is a step up from a neighbourhood pub but not quite a lounge. There's a family section down below and a bar up top. Both have the same menu and are full service. There's a cute patio out front but appears to only have two tops, so you couldn't fit a large group out there.
I live in the south east and 4th Spot is in the north west but if I was closer I would eat here at least a couple of times a month. 4th Spot is one of the best restaurants I've been to in a while and I highly recommend it.

Absolutely love this restaurant. everyone there is so nice and the food is to die for, I go almost every week for wing night. the live music is usually pretty good as well. would recommend

Pizza is greasy flavourless junk. Service nonexistent. Maple canuck burger is one of the best I had.
Gluttony At Its Finest
Spot on!. I decided to take my friends recommendation and took 6 other friends for a spontaneous dinner out. Although it was a Friday night and had a group of 7, the hostess was welcoming and put tables together in order to seat us all. I ordered the Pistachio chicken club sandwich with a side of smashed potatoes. AMAZING! The sandwich had the perfect balance between the seasoned chicken and hint of nut at the end of every mouthful. The smashed potatoes were delicious too. I just wish I could have gotten more potatoes. My sister ordered the Hawaiian pizza, but it was just meh. I would definitely recommend coming here for the great service and food. Ambiance was a plus too! For those of you who pay attention to the small details in the restroom, you'll be pleasantly surprised to find a little station with expensive lotion, kleenex and soap!

Again, bad, bad!. I have been a regular to this place since they opened, when me and my wife realised they kept Karouzo's pizza menu we were happy, we would go there 3 or 4 times a month, when tried a few other things, we thought good, just good.
Tonight my mom and my niece were visiting, decided to go there for supper (though I have pretty much promised myself I would not go there again, the last 3 times we were there we had to ask the waitress to re-heat our meals, wings, mussels, or burgers, does not matter, were always cold).
The place is always busy, normally had to wait almost 30 minutes to get our food, particularly on sundays at brunch time, only one or two servers and the place 60% capacity.
Still wanted to give it one more chance and...still went back tonight, guess what?, food was cold, we ordered mussels, pizza, and calamari and a bottle of red wine, the wine was great, warmer than food though. In the middle of dinner the waitress told me she had to leave, I asked her "what do we do with the bill and your tip?, I can pay now", to what she replied, well, as you wish.
So, I paid the bill, gave her a tip but she never gave me my receipt, when I was leaving I asked the other waitress for my receipt, she said, "well, it was under the other girl's name so I can't get it", I said, "ok nevermind", some other guy came and asked me to wait for a bit, I said, seriously does not matter, he insisted so I waited...ten more minutes, nothing, then just stood up and left, the guy saw me left and said nothing, I was going to give the girl ten more dollars.
Seriously, I don't believe I will go back again, not worth it!

Hammered Staff. I've eaten here a few times and stopped by for their Canada Day block party. A table of managers had 6 spare chairs but said they were "reserved" and told us to get lost. They sat empty the entire time we were there. Real classy. It soon became apparent that all the staff were completely drunk. Swearing in front of children, falling over themselves and forgetting orders. This was more of a staff party than community block party. No respect or professionalism.

4th Spot? Great Spot!. Love this place, I am here way too often. My only complaint is that sometimes the Tough Guy wings aren't as hot as they should be (i.e sometimes they are really really hot, exactly as they should be and sometimes they are more of a medium which is a letdown when expecting inferno).

Greats daily deals. Love the burgers.Nice to have this place a few blocks from home.

Bad bad bad. I sat belly up after walking in for the first time and witnessed a mother and her child who had booked a private room for a birthday party having quite a arguement.

the lady was early to arrive and was bearing gifts and all the staff were rude and laughing at her.

why is this so very typical in Calgary.

how.does 4 spot have a 89% rating when this bs is going on???

I wont be back after witnessing this crap.

Delicious! Tonight was my second visit to 4th and was not disappointed. Although our starters came out at the same time as our meals, the service was still spot on!

So So. Visited last night. Solo so sat at the bar. Impressed with how busy it was. Not impressed with the service at the bar. Impersonal at best. Food was ok. Return?? Will see.

Nosediving Restaurant. I have frequented this restaurant quite a bit in the past and generally always have a good experience.. not this time. It was Monday and my Jerk wings were not hot and dry, I had to ask for some more sauce and one of the wings on the plate was broken in half from a supplier I suspect, no one cared to eliminate it from service, the carrot and celery looked like it was drying out as well,.. def NOT fresh! for $11.99, What a rip off! My year and a half year old kid was with us too, we ordered a kids meal, our server failed to bring the ice cream it claimed to have come with. The glass the iced tea was in was really cracked and could have caused injury. Our server Taryn was rude and seemed to not care at all. When asked to change the glass she coldly stared and never came back with another drink. Also when packing up leftover food, we clarified to keep the chicken fingers separate as there was was a gluten allergy. She boldy cut me off mid sentence and said " I understand!" I will not send or reccomend any more business here and I will not be back for a very long time and if I do return and this server is still there I will not sit down. I hope the food gets better, it used to be a good spot to eat... NOT anymore!!
Eric
Delightful!. The food was very, very fresh because the restaurant gets their food from local suppliers. I ordered some cheesy saucy balls and ate the mouthwatering steak sandwich accompanied with a divine poutine. Overall, the beauty of dining here lies in its simplicity: excellent service, fresh local ingredients, and impressively prepared food.

Although it was daunting having to wait ~20 minutes before being seated because they do not take reservations, I was surprised to be offered a beer sample while waiting in line, which definitely made the wait less painful. Bonus points to them for doing this!

I absolutely enjoyed my experience. I found this place online as I was looking for a pub in NW. Don't be fooled by the exterior as it is a bit rusty and misleading. The staff were very friendly and the food was awesome. Very cozy place and no extra loud music. They have a dining area and a lounge. The burger was by far the best I've had in Calgary made with fresh high quality ground meet. The only thing I did not like about the restaurant was the fact that I could not make a reservation. They basically work on a first come first serve basis and on a Thursday night we had to wait for about 20 minutes. That aside, every thing else was great.

Great Local Spot. 4th Spot is our local spot and we love it - it's a good mixture between a pub and restaurant. The reviews on here just do not do it justice so I felt the need to help out all those undecided diners...

The food is fantastic, the service is excellent and it has a wonderful homey atmosphere with a lot of returning clientel - in fact it is almost always busy so try to go before or after the typical dinner rush times if you want to get a spot (although totally worth the wait). I don't have a particular favourite from the menu as I typically decide on the specials of the night, but I find the burgers excellent (so obviously I like the burger and beer night) and love that they got creative with the wing flavours.

Three Strikes and out. The absolute worst experience three times!! First was when they served breakfast and the criossant was stale and the butter was rancid. The second time for dinner the pasta with the bacon tomatoe sauce was off and I sent it back. Third a friend wanted to meet there that I had not seen in a long time. I was wary but he said he really liked this place. The wings and pizza was the worst over cooked items that I have ever had. Both of us had extremely upset stomachs from this. NEVER, ever again, bar none the worst place ever!!!
