Their deserts are really good. They're a bit pricier than the other Italian bakeries I've been to, but portions are definitely bigger. Their Cannoli is to die for! Their pizzas are amazing!
I am disappointed the reviews here aren’t better. Sauce is a legit addition to the Kill-Shag food scene and anyone who says they haven’t had a great Monday pasta night there is a LIAR. Now, admittedly, I haven’t been on any other night but it’s likely still worth the spend, friend. Get the Bruschetta Quattro an couple of pastas and a decent bottle if wine and it will run you unny-a-hunny. I had the same meal FOR LUNCH at Cucina and it was nearly twice the cost. Plus the bruschetta was bruscitta by comparison. Feeling like Italian? Do it Mondays at Sauce.
Came here for $12 Pasta Night and the pasta was really good! Flavours were great and generous portions.
Service was pretty good, they were attentive. My parents ordered the mussels to start and they said it was over cooked so the server actually took the dish off from our bill which was unexpected. We just wanted to let them know but didn’t expect for any discounts so that was a nice gesture.
Clam linguine Diablo was great. Husband really liked his Spaghetti Wished they served comp bread ( to entice us to shop in the market). Service was really attentive. Will be back!
Really loved this place! We went for a late lunch, so the restaurant was mostly empty. Our server was extremely helpful and went out of his way to make sure my boyfriends daughter had a great experience as well (she was very excited to be sitting at the bar watching the kitchen). She had "THE BEST MACARONI EVER", my boyfriend had the diablo linguine which he loved, and I had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. If you can't decide what you want, get the tomato soup! We both got lattes to go after lunch, and they did not disappoint either. Not many places do a soy latte as well as the one I had here! Overall great experience.

Whomever makes the vanilla pistachio cannoli should be paid 1000.00 per hour :) absolutely as good as any I have had in Italy.....delicious and perfect. We also tried the lasagne and clam linguine...very good. Can't believe the cheap asses who write reviews on here and want the 10$ or 12$ pasta to be that cheap and are angry it isn't offered on take out orders...stay home!!! Keep up the fair prices and quality food and you'll be very successful here.....don't charge as much as Mercatos and you'll keep your clientele coming.
We went on a Sunday when they had their $10 pasta special. The flavor on all our dishes was outstanding, something I would have paid full price for and still walked out happy. We will definitely be back.
Sweet spot to visit. Met a friend for coffee and enjoyed the place. The coffee was great, the muffins were fresh and the sun streamed in. In addition to the coffee bar, they have a deli counter and a full restaurant that look interesting. I'll be returning to check out both.
L picked the Clam Linguine ($10 on Sunday and Monday nights). I liked the heat and the taste of the sea in the light sauce. I enjoyed the thinly silvered crunchy red onions and the freshness from the diced tomatoes.
I've been here twice for lunch and tried the carbonara and the watermelon and goat cheese salad. Aside from the watermelon being over ripe, I was impressed. Good portion sizes and good value. Service was great both times. Upscale, but casual atmosphere. The bathrooms are beautiful. I'll be coming back.
I've been looking forward to trying Sauce for some time and finally had the opportunity to have lunch there today. I was surprised to see all they had to offer with a lovely store and restaurant. The bakery section alone with the array of cannolis and macarons has given me reason to return. My lunch companions and I each ordered a different pasta to try and they were all delicious, perfectly prepared and a great deal at only $10 each. I chatted with several staff members throughout and everyone was very pleasant and helpful. I'm looking forward to returning with my family.
Sauce has been a welcome addition to the neighborhood. My co-workers and I frequent Sauce for healthy, delicious and quick lunch options that we can walk to. I would recommend this place as the food is great, lots of selection, and great prices. In fact they just dropped off a free family size salad and gift card just to be neighborly.
I have been there numerous times since they opened and the food is always fresh, delicious and so well prepared. Try the Calabrese salad with chicken at Lunch. So, so Good. My favorite is the pork chop on the dinner menu. Tastes great and is always tender.
I would also recommend trying the 1/2 price bottle of wine on Wednesday. It really makes easy to enjoy a bottle of great wine (really good selection of Reds) with their pizza or pasta choices.
Looks fancy, but I saw a lot of families coming in, I entered dressed quite casually. You walk in and there's actually a market and Cafe. I've enjoyed trying some of their pastries, and going by some reviews I'll have to try some of their lattes.
My mom bought their take-out chicken before ($30, it was a great portion for us 2 small ladies). For dine in I went on Pasta Monday ($10), I ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese and it didn't disappoint (I love the traditional tomato meat sauce). I've tried bits of other pasta flavours when my mom brings them home, and they've all been pretty good. I also tried their Arugula Beet Salad (It was gooood). We went around 5pm (wanted to beat the dinner rush). The service was great! Like really :) I asked for their Sauce Card before leaving, because why the heck not? I think you get 10% off in their Market, and some other perks about wine for 2 or something ? (I need to pay attention better)
Overall I think it's a great addition to 17th. Forgot to take pics because I was a hungry hulk that day, guess that'll be another time!
Very clean, new and bright restaurant and coffee shop. I have mostly gone there for coffee and am usually impressed. However there must be better consistency in the cappuccinos and lattes, some days they are fantastic, other days tepid. They use good beans so it makes up for it. I think there is an employee who is South American-she makes the best espresso based drinks-everyone there should learn from her! Otherwise good snack food and pizza. We may try the actual restaurant this week as it is close to our house.
We came here for date night before a movie. I liked the decor and layout. I found it odd that they had a Dinner menu and a separate menu for pizza and wine. Why not put the pizza with dinner if you always serve both?
You could tell they had just opened, service was very rusty. The hostess sat us, and then we had 2 different servers coming by our table asking us the same questions (do you want water? Are you ready to order), even after we told them the other had already served us.
The wine list did not have countries listed and the server told us all Reds were from Italy. This was definitely not true as they had Napa Pinot's and Les Andes Malbec's. The wine list is what I expected, nothing over the top but decent.
After ordering a bottle, we received glasses instead. Honestly, I'm not complaining as these are all kinks a new restaurant needs to work out over the first few months. Just be prepared if you go there in the near future.
As for the food, we were happy. We had the Beef Carpaccio to start - thin, fresh cracked pepper, mustard and a poached egg. It was good. We also started with the meatball - you get one huge meatball in marinara sauce. It was delicious, we fought over who was going to finish it. The menu stated it had crumbled Gorgonzola cheese, but when it came out it actually had blue cheese. Not a big deal for us as we both love blue cheese too, but blue cheese is one of those things people either love or hate.
We split the Hot Sicilian pizza. The Italian sausage was yummy, as was the mozzarella. The only two complaints (and they weren't huge) was the crust was a bit doughy and the sauce was very runny.
One last thing you should know: parking is terrible on a busy night. There is 8 or so parking not stalls in the back (60 minutes only) and a few out front (only 30 minutes).
Overall, I would definitely try this place again and look forward to coming back for the pasta.
Great sandwich and coffee! Club sandwich with a smoked bacon and balsamic glaze. Was a great lunch with a cappuccino after. Great lunch meeting and service.
The restaurant inside Sauce Italian Market is really nice. The décor and layout make it quite comfortable. It feels somewhat upscale, but it's really just very comfortable. The server, who was very polite (perhaps somewhat artificial in his initial approach), but needed to change out of work boots to more appropriate shoes for the venue, immediately offered water (still and sparkling), which turned out to be large bottles of Italian water at $5 each. Since it tasted the same as our local water, we won't do that again. When I see "appetizer" on a menu, I expect the listed items to not be the main part of lunch. Well, an appetizer at Sauce (in my opinion) is just fine for a nice light lunch. However, we made the mistake of ordering appetizers and a main lunch each. Expensive and very, very filling. I had the appetizer Sambuca prawns, which were absolutely delightful. I recommend this highly. Linda had the appetizer beef carpaccio, which I had a taste of as well. Paper thin, and oh so good! I would order this anytime. Linda loved it. For her lunch main, Linda had the clams linguine diablo, which she absolutely loved. It was full of flavor, and sufficient clams (without the shells). She says you can't go wrong with this. I had a very nice arugula beet salad. It was lightly drizzled with one of the best chef-made dressing I have ever tasted. The beets were very nice, but they were difficult to find in this salad, which could have been an all-star. The balance between arugula and beets was completely missing. There was a huge amount of arugula (so much I couldn't even finish it); but I had to search to find the very tasty beets. It was simply out of balance. If they fix the balance, then this will be an all-star salad; much better than most. When I mentioned this to the otherwise pleasant hostess, she informed me (because, you know, what would I know?) that it's unlikely to change since (a) beets were expensive, and (b) it's all done by weight. This didn't impress me. If you have an appetizer and a main lunch, as well as the Italian water, it's quite expensive and likely too filling. But, if you stick to one or the other, there are many really nice choices on the menu, and you'll walk out without feeling that you just paid off the provincial deficit. That's what I'll do next time. I do recommend this place; and I sincerely hope it will succeed. It is much needed here. And the food is good! Sauce is in the new building that houses Corus Entertainment on 17th Ave SW and 33rd Street, across from Spiro's. Parking here is not fun. Fortunately, we knew about the back alley and were fortunate to find a spot there. Walking a few blocks on a cold day was not an option. Parking: 1/5. Service: 3/5. Presentation: 5/5. Ambience: 4/5. Portion Size: 4/5. Flavors: 5/5. Value: 4/5.
Came here for their lunch menu. Pretty decent prices for lunch with $10 pastas. Looking at their dinner menu, the pastas are then $21 (whew, double the price!). The service was alright, they're relatively new but some people working there seemed like being courteous was out of their comfort zone. If you're looking to order still water, it's $5 (some special water... had I known I would've ordered tea instead). The portions are fair for the price point they set it at. It's enough for me but may not be enough for others. I ordered the clam linguini which didn't seem like there were lots of toppings but it was near the middle and bottom underneath the linguini that it was hidden. It was different to see that they didn't put the clams in there with the shells. The fairly small sized clams were cooked with the tomatoes. I'd come back here to try the other pasta dishes.
They did have pastries like scones and macarons as well but a lady working there wasn't quite sure of which macaron flavours there were... bizarre.
Decided to visit this place tonight since it has been opened. Drive by it everyday becasue we live couple of blocks away, so I was curious to check it out. I was making homemade pizza for dinner and decided to go to the deli counter at Sauce. There was lot of selections of meats and cheese which was I happy with so I don't have to drive so far to another italian market I usually go to. Prices was good and there is a little market to browse through. My only complaint was that the slicing on the prosciutto I got was terrible, I think the employee seemed a little new to cutting and could use more expertise. Will definitely go back to check out dinner and cafe.
Showed up on a $10 pasta Monday for the first time. First impression made me feel a little under-dressed based on the decor, but I quickly was reminded of the family atmosphere as we sat down. Was served a delicious sparkling water that went down fast. I had Chicken Parmesan and Aya had Carbonara. I was happy that the chicken with mine had a delicious coating of melted cheese along with the tomato sauce. The house-made pasta was delicious. My girlfriend was off-put with the addition of peas to her Carbonara, but after a few bites she warmed up to it. Tasty!
The portion size was small, but I was expecting it. Next time I come on Monday, I'm going to order two plates to myself to test different dishes!
