I never really thought of a "Mediterranean" deli before but now I can't stop thinking how this is a perfect combination. Exceptional food and great service we will be recommending to friends and family.
This is a great place. The food is fantastic and very interesting. Having a bit of a deli and a range of hard to find spices doesn’t hurt! The staff is friendly and very helpful. Wonderful all round!
This is my my new go-to donair place to go to. The staff are super friendly, he asked if it was our first time and he gave us samples of the beef or chicken. My only complaint is that I decided on the beef, and he made me indecisive when he gave me these samples!! lol!! (I'm joking about the complaint, I actually have no complaints). Food is great, reasonably priced and staff are amazing!! Well done!!
We got lamb shawarma, chicken samosa. Jamaican Chicken Pastry, and an assortment of baklavas.
The samosa was good, the pastry was good, the small sized shawarma was really huge and delicious. The all the types of baklava were really really delicious. Awesome place to get some good delicious food.
I have been here at least 3 times throughout the year and every time I order something different and they still manage to surprise me. The service is fast and accurate and also there is additional seating on the second floor if you decide to stay and eat. There is also a supermarket if you decide to do some shopping there too.
Great food for take out, or at their limited outdoor seating. The Shawarma’s are big portioned, messy, and extremely tasty. Delicious baklava of all sorts as well. Highly recommend.
I love the atmosphere and employees! Everyone is funny and kind. I have never been disappointed with an order. I recommend Jimmy's to everyone looking for a good shawarma.

The bomb.com. Came in on a Sunday morning with the GF and they were still setting up the deli counter. Super-generous with samples, which are all homemade. Amazing selection of Mediterranean goodies like baklava and taboule. She's Italian and the olive selection was out of this world for a neighbourhood grocery. And the people are fantastic. Definitely worth checking out. Double thumbs up, best of Calgary.

Great friendly service, fast, and efficient. On busier days and times it takes a little while to ring your order through but is well worth the wait.
The donair meat is the most tender meat I have ever had in a donair- not dried out and chewy like a lot of places. The sweet sauce is amazing!
They have a huge selection of other foods as well, like samosas and salads.
Only thing is that they are definitely pricier than most donair places- at over $11 for just a medium beef donair.
If you are in the area and are craving good middle eastern food, however, this place is SURE to satisfy!!
Just amazing. I was in Calgary over the weekend and went here for the first time. I had the falafel pita which was pretty good, but when we told the cashier I was from Lethbridge, she also gave me a sample of the beef donair and chicken shawarma, which I gobbled up. Being in town for a short course, I had to go for the donair and it was super delicious. Perfectly spiced donair meat that was tender, fresh pita and ingredients and just the right balance of spicy and sweet. I will be coming here any time I am in Calgary.
Service is great. They're funny and always busting jokes. It's always super busy. Because it has such a big family feel sometimes you'll feel like you're standing there waiting to pay forever because everyone is always chatting so much. Their spanakopita is really good!!! I always get 6 and get the garlic sauce instead of tzatziki and it's a perfect match!! If I get a wrap its usually in a salad. Even the medium is huge. Nice place to come and try out but just be warned that you might have to wait a while for your order

Best donair I've ever had! Portion sizes are gigantic and it's just so tasty. I love the family owned feeling and the staff is always good for a laugh. It's definitely a place I go back to time and time again when I want a good donair. Try it as a salad too, it's so yummy!
My husband and I enjoy Jimmy's a lot more compared to other similar places in the area. I always get the chicken shawarma either in a pita or the salad if I want to avoid carbs. I always ask them to stuff the pita if I get the sandwich as it is less messy to eat that way. If you do not tell them to make it this way they are more than likely to put it together like a souvlaki pita. My husband can never resist their fresh samosas. He will usually eat one as our order is being prepared. I've tried their baklava and they are good, but I prefer ones with a bit less of the Rose water taste. The small pita sandwich is quite substantial as they really over stuff it.
My family has been eating here since I was in elementary school. One of the best shawarma places in Calgary. The portions are huge, so you are definitely getting a bang for your buck. I always get the chicken, it is so well spiced and very flavourful. Not much room to sit and eat at the place, so we always end up getting our food to take home. They usually package the meat, veggies and sauce separately to make our own shawarmas, to avoid them getting soggy by the time we get home.
I believe that Jimmy's has the best donairs in Calgary. They are big and very delicious, it can be a bit busy and it's a bit more expensive than some others but I think that it's worth both the wait and price. The staff has always been friendly and service is prompt. I wish that they had more seating.

Friendly 'mom & pop' type shop. Nothing fancy but the food is AMAZING and service is great! Super sweet staff & freshly food. We come for the shawarma but DON'T EVER LEAVE WITHOUT a box of baklava, beef samosas (with amazing dip), spanakopita, pita chips and selection of dips! Everything here tastes so fresh, healthy and filling. For $80 our family of 5 can get an entire feast (with leftovers to spare).
Absolutely wonderful. The food quality is great, the selection is awesome, and the staff are kind, patient and helpful. Oh, and let the lady Who wears the hijab pick out your baklava...what a wonderful experience. A+
Best donair all over calgary, the staff is friendly and entertaining. I ordered medium donair and iy felt like extra large and tasted awsome meat is reallu fresh. Highly recommended definitly worth the visit.
Yum Yum! I had a medium lamb donair and I should have ordered the small because I was so full afterwards. The sauces were delicious and the meat texture was really good. I will be back for sure.

I've been meaning to submit a review on Jimmy's for awhile now. It's definitely the best sharwarma/donair I've had in Calgary. The meat is always tender and the sauce that accompanies the sharwarma just makes it even more tastier. I find the small to be just the right size, but if you're super hungry you can attempt the large, but be warned, its HUGE! The last time I was at Jimmy's I noticed the prices have crept up, which is starting to feel a tad expensive, but for good quality food I'm still willing to pay for it. The baklava is also worth trying, definitely the freshest I've found in Calgary so far, as well as the samosas. We also tried the kibbehs, but they were dry and not that great. Best to stick to the main attraction for the place, which are the wraps.

I'm just glad I have to drive to Jimmy's! If I lived nearby, I would weigh 30 pounds more. If you haven't taken the opportunity to grab a shawarma from Jimmy's then make sure it's on your list of places to eat. Try the lamb, you won't be disappointed!!
jimmy's has the best chicken shawarma, bar none! you can go for larger, but i usually just go for the small size and even then i am always stuffed! very generous portions and sooooo good. super great deal and the staff are always very warm and friendly. if you talk to any of the family that owns jimmy's, especially 'mama', they will talk and treat you like family.
Best Donair/Shwarma I've had in Calgary so far! I've had Lamb, Beef, and Chicken and all are very tasty, Lamb is defiantly my favorite! Good sauces and big portions!
Decent donair, great shawarma if your in the neighbourhood check it out. Very friendly staff. This is a take out place unless it's summer, then you can sit outside.

I have never had a negative experience at Jimmy's. I've been going there for a few years now and the staff are lovely. I especially love it when the older lady is in the shop. Her humour and warm personality are such a delight.
The food is generous and delicious. I've had all the versions of pita wrapped goodness and have never had anything to complain about. The price is slightly higher than other places but in this instance you get what you pay for.

While the location and the appearance are less than appealing - Jimmy's A&A meats is sure to impress. Great authentic Mediterranean cuisine including the best donair I've had in a long time. The portions are LARGE and fairly priced. However, eating the donair can become messy as the pita is over stuffed. They also have a small selection of goods for purchase - if your looking to expand your pantry.
I love this place! I really love beef donair and so far I think this place is the best! The staff is SUPER friendly, they always give free stuff (like a free samosa or dessert). The portions are HUGE, like seriously, HUGE!! Even a small beef donair or shawarma has a lot of meat making it seem like a medium sized wrap in other donair places. Everything is priced very reasonably and they also have a lot of condiments and spices that you can buy in there. Love the samosas!! My friend became a samosa addict after he tried it from this place.

We love JImmy's Deli, the samosas are the best in Calgary, the wraps are enormous and they have many gluten free options such as GF tabouleh. We highly recommend.
We can only assume A&A stands for awkward and awesome. Right when you walk in your nostrils are filled with the smell of spiced meats and your eyes are quite weak from darting back and forth trying to assimilate the seemingly random displays of nick nacks, trinkets, and food items. Somehow it establishes itself with slightly silly, awkward, and cool vibe which is in large part attributed to their stellar staff. It’s not s place for the queen of England, unless she is looking for one hell of a big, and one hell of a good kebab. Both the beef and chicken options will not disappoint. If you are looking for kebab, Jimmy’s is a place that should be high on your list to try!

I have been meaning to visit this place for two years, and I am kicking myself for wasting it time on other donairs.
Their donair meat is delicious, it's fresh, and they are constantly making them. Seriously the greatest Mediterranean food north of the Bow, I will go twice more before I move away from this city.
Learn from my mistake, try it now and try it often.
First off I want to say the staff here are super friendly and they encourage you to sample the meat of you never been there before, which was helpful considering there were so many choices for wraps. Got the chicken wrap and it was really good, may be the best in city...
Jimmy's isn't in a great location, isn't around hardly anything yet it ends up on top pick lists all the time. Definitely has to do with the food and the service. Our last visit was awesome we have been many times before. It was busy but the wait was short. The food is always great and excellent value for your dollar. If you want to visit a great Donair place that stands solely on its quality and service this is the place to go!
What can I say about jimmys, in love with it. I feel like family right when I walk in. Being so close to sait it's another great place to take a group. The donairs can get a little pricey but you get what you pay for with the XL donair being about 2 kg of food! The baklava is absolutely to die for and is made everyday. If you live in Calgary you need to go see jimmy!
This place was recommended to me by a few different friends. It's pretty busy inside and it is quite the operation for a small building. The staff work hard there and even though it seems hectic at the cash side the staff have it figured out pretty good. Ive gone there a few times but have only tried the Samosas. They are awesome!!! When I get to the cash they ring quick orders through while waiting for the sandwich orders which is much appreciated. There sandwiches are massive and I'll be trying those next. One friend said best chicken shawarma in town just ask for it "loaded". So far I am impressed be this older looking restaurant. Parking can be a little sparse but no further than half a block away even when busy. Warning inside line can take a while especially for the sandwiches.

You've gotta love Jimmy's. This place is an institution. Best donairs, shawarma, and by FAR the best baklava (momma's recipe!) in town. Worth every penny. Personally, I like the friendly attitude of the guys who work there - it's unique and makes you feel like you're welcome. It shows a level of authenticity that I like.
BEST DONAIRS IN TOWN! The combo is heaven wrapped in a pita. Saucy and deish! But that's not all - this little joint is packed with all the Mediterranean classics! If you want it done right, go to Jimmy's.
We travel across the city for this donair. I won't even try any others as everytime I have, I'm always disappointed that I didn't go to Jimmy's if I do. It's the BEST donair you can get. I grew up eating Jimmy's Donairs and we have friends who have moved away and when they come back to visit they will basically drive straight from the airport to Jimmy's to get their fix as soon as they land. I've recently discovered the samosas and wished I had tried them a long time ago. The nice lady behind the counter (I think Jimmy's mom) is always so nice and funny. She's awesome. Although I must say the Jimmy's on 4th is not as good as the one on 20th Ave.

The Donairs Are Awesome. Ever since Amin's Donair shop stopped serving their donairs, I've been coming here regularly for my donair fix. The staff are super friendly, the serving portions are large and the prices being decent!
Best in the city. Best shawarma place in the city for sure! the shawarma's taste amazing, the chicken tastes like real chicken made in store vs prescription packaged and frozen, the portion sizes are absolutely huge, the garlic sauce is amazing and the owners and staff are awesome and super friendly. shawarmas are a bit on the messy side but that's to be expected when they are so stuffed full of stuff. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place, everyone should try it!

The portion sizes are very generous, the Chicken Shawarma was delicious, and the people were great. When the girl at the counter heard it was our first time she brought out a plate with a sample of each of the meats, the lady at the till is full of personality, and it was all fast and fresh!
Delicious! So much more selection than you'd expect looking from the outside and the food is great. And the lady at the till is lots of fun!

The old Lebanese woman that runs the place is awesome. She calls everyone sweetie and complains that she should be retired but just cant stay away. She puts all that love into her food and it shows.

Cross Donair off the Foodie Bucket List. I was at University of Calgary today and looking for somewhere within a reasonable distance for lunch. In all my visits to Canada, I had never gotten around to trying donair. When I looked on US and saw it, I decided it was time to cross it off the list.
Jimmys is a small place on a street corner, but when I pulled up, an ambulance and two fire trucks were parked nearby, hmm, I wonder what's up? As I parked and walked in, I found it was that the local fire station had come for lunch. There was a line out the door.
Never having had donair before I wasn't sure what to expect. If you're a newbie too, think of a big gyros with either chicken or beef, or a mix of the two. I ordered a medium beef with the sauce and peppers because that's what 5 people in front of me ordered. If you're a fan of soda other than what's offered by Coke and Pepsi, you'll love the place. There was a lot in their cases I'd never seen before, plus a few old time favorites, orange cream for me! Lest you think that donair is all they have, it's just the tip of the iceberg, there is all kinds of goodness here, I was impressed. I happened to be there when the owner came around handing out what I'd call rolled baklava to everyone.
I liked the donair, but next time I think I'll get it without the sauce, strangely sweet, but that's just me and I bet half you you just made some comment that it's not donair without the sauce.
A word of warning, they only accept cash and debit cards, and if you're from South of the border, your debit card will NOT work, but there is an ATM at the market a few blocks away. Apparently they've had one too many stolen cards from down South.
Will I go again, yes, cash in hand and hold the strange sauce.
Good stuff. I got introduced to Donairs recently and crave them. I tried this place from a recommendation and they are good. Line ups are long though and it is very hot inside. Only complaint is by the time you get it home it is cold and doesn't taste as good as this is a grocery store with 1 picnic table outside and eating this in the car is not advisable as the sauce drips.
The best chicken shawarma ever! And they're huge! The baklava is also awesome.

Mmmmm.. Best Donairs.. still looking for Shish Taouk (sp?) like Boustan's in Montreal. I love this place for Donair, it's definitely taken my mind off of the lack of a good quickie Shish Taouk (sp?) place in Calgary.
Love Jimmy's for lunch and getting a large pretty much negates the need for dinner.
Big lines, precarious parking, but it goes quickly and is worth every moment & penny. I wish I felt like ordering more variety, but I've tried everything on offer and now just can't forgo the tasty donair for something that seems in a different league. The Shwarma is great and will make it into by paper bag if it's the second visit in a week, but the donair is addictive.
Also enjoy the various soft drinks from abroad and the selection of Hooka pipes.
PS, K.P. you went on a weekday evening and were surprised they were out of meat? Not a good idea to wait 'til the evening to go to a place focused on lunch & midday traffic, also not surprising that you would think it isn't fresh considering how its made and how long it's there and the focus is the lunch crowd not the UK-style late night kebab crowd. You got the same quality as a 3am London takeaway, at least they're drunk, why you'd go sober is a mystery.
Not impressed Jimmy, you have set the bar too high! I can't enjoy Shawarmas anywhere else but a & a! I find myself driving up from lethbridge twice a month.... Usually I'm in a trance and only realize what's happening as I'm passing by claresholm.... Shawarma muscle memory!

Tess and Alex go to Jimmy's and Learn the Portions are HUGE.. Sometimes I crave this place so bad it hurts. It's so yummy and there are so many different things to choose from I usually end up trying to stuff to many things into my shawarma, but it's yummy anyways. I also loved there eggplant wrapped Parmesan and feta stuffed peppers, I stock up whenever I can. Their baklava is delicious as well. Did I mention you'll never be hungry again? GO.
