Review Boogies Burgers - Calgary

Skye Cameron
I haven't been here in a Very long time but this location is still super busy, the service is fast and friendly, and the food is still delicious. Honestly I tried the mini corn dogs on a whim and they were perfect. Everything was fresh, crispy, yummy and the milkshakes were so cute and really a light rich creamy taste I am a fan of. Yes, I had to take a pic of the bathroom with a pic of the bathroom (with a pic of the bathroom) in it.

Honestly this place is such easygoing vibes. Nothing pretentious - just good burgers and nice staff. I Love the retro look of this burger joint. I totally recommend sitting up at the bar and watching the action. If you see the ice machine, tell me if you get it! When you get it, you get it!! Haha the burgers are all good. I’m my pictures that’s the regular burger with two patties. If you’re with a friend be sure to share an order of fries. As and option, if you like spicy fries, be sure to try theirs.

Loved our meal at Boogie’s Burgers on Edmonton Trail! Food was delicious. Many unique burger and milkshake options. Staff spontaneously offered us a free second milkshake because the kitchen put someone else’s order on the grill ahead of ours which caused a delay. We hadn’t even noticed or complained! Great customer service!

Can't beat boogies!! This funky little place has tons of personality along side their quality food. The staff is friendly and the large portions served for the burgers is truly a great bang for your buck, mix that with an out of this world milkshake and you're set for a great meal.

Been looking for a good burger place for a while and saw them on Google maps with rave reviews. Boogie’s Burgers definitely delivered and craving satisfied! My burger was super fresh and delicious. Definitely worth the bit of wait. We had the crispy chicken, regular and Shawn burger. They were all fantastic! Looking forward to trying their other burgers.

Stopped into Boogie's Burgers for a diner and the place was just a hopping. It was my first time so I didn't know what to expect. When you come in you grab a menu and take a sit scan over all the menu you items then go up to the counter to place your order. I just wanted to test the waters by get the regular burger with double patty and cheese and 🥓 and regular burger for my wife and crispy onion rings and fries. The service is great and fast / friendly couldn't get much better. The burgers are home made with fresh ground beef. The onion rings are the thick cut style and fries well nothing special a little on the salty side. I'll post photos of the meal items. The only things bad that I had ordered burgers with Bacon and they came without. But they were quick to fix that issue. And I don't think they do much about the second thing but parking is very tight and limited. All in All I will be back again in the future to try out one the specialty burgers.

Kool vibe with classic old well used arcade machines. Takes about 10-15 min to make a burger which is good to know its fresh. And overall not too greasy of a bite

Food was amazing, had a burger, some spicy fries, and a mint choco shake. The atmosphere is great, the staff were really kind, and bob ross on the TV was an extra bonus. If you enjoy an extra kick of spicy definitely try the house hot sauce.

The official Burger of Deliciousness We took the Burger Tour YYC on one of Calgary’s snowed out days to Boogies Burgers on Edmonton Trail NE. Many people still claim to have never heard of it, since it opened in 1968. This place has nostalgia, pop culture, musicians, Elvis everywhere, mexican wrestling masks, skateboards, retro video games, Boogies is a really fun & cool place to eat at it & visit. We ordered the Sam’s Burger with mac & cheese wedges on the side, it comes with a 100% Alberta beef patty, melted cheddar & we added an extra veggie patty made from crushed beans & spices. Toppings on this beautiful burger are boogies special “Red” sauce, fried egg over-easy, crispy lettuce, tomato & onion. The bun was light and fluffy with a sesame seeds on top. This burger was top notch. Flavors were perfectly balanced. We loved this burger, best of the best! BurgerToursYYC.Wordpress .com

Went today for the first time. The burger was huge and delicious! And the fries were awesome! I only regret I didn’t have a milkshake! I don’t get into the city often but I’d definitely go again and recommend to friends!

Puts Fatburger and Smashburger to shame! And the bacon infused shakes are to die for!!!

Different from all the rest. Feels like you're stepping back to "Happy Days" the food is great but that's not what makes Boogies. It's the atmosphere. Love this place!

Boogies burgers are the best. Stop by and try them out. Been going there for years. Need more parking but food first rate. You wont regret the trip!

We visited Boogies for the first time today. If you want to indulge in a great burger, sides & milk shakes. Then this is your place. Great atmosphere and staff SUPER friendly! We will be back! cheers from Drumheller.

Great burgers. .. Great staff. The burger, milkshake and service was amazing. Thank you.

Worst service, worst meal i've had in probably 10 years. couldn't even eat my disgusting burger. Employees don't give a FUCK about customers here at ALL. I wish i could give ur shitty QSR a worse rating but it doesn't go lower than 1 star.
Kevin Pastershank
I am ashamed to say that this was our first visit. The food and service was awesome. By far, this is the best burger we have ever had. Definitely will be back for more goodness.
Robin Fudge McCarthy
The service was amazing during a busy Friday lunch. The food was equally fantastic. I had the mushroom burger and my daughter had Faye's burger. We shared the Yam fries. We loved it! My son really enjoyed the Blazin Saddles with spicy fries, as he loves things hot! The milkshakes were 5 star as well!

As a visitor in Calgary, I asked where would I find the best burgers in town....they said Boogies Burgers. They were right. I love locally owned businesses that have stood the test of time. The food was delicious and portion sizes were perfect. Even the fountain pop was better than anywhere else!
Genevieve Head
Always great food and smiling faces! If you're in the area it's definitely worth stopping in!
Jason Paulhus
Great food, great service. Literally puts Peter's to shame.... Funky burger joint, family friendly, great vintage arcade games.
Trevor Cadieux
First time here, waited 40 mins for 2 burgers and paid almost $40. I won’t bother again.

Boogie’s burgers is a burger joint located in Edmonton tr NE, I believe they have been around for more than 50years! They opened second location at Marda loop recently. <br/><br/>Surprisingly, it was my first ever visit to Boogie’s this time and I loved every single bits!!<br/><br/>Menu was so unique, a they have big selections of burgers(as expected) and many flavors of milk shakes. They have veggie burgers, chicken burgers, salmon burgers, etc. <br/><br/>Doggie burger that we tried looked like a monster and it tasted delicious!! Salmon burger was so good, I “mac”ed and added extra cheese and pickles , it was a great choice, tasted delicious! Their buns are so soft and fluffy, even though the burger is pretty big, I was able to finish it because of the fluffy buns and juicy sauces. <br/><br/>Milk shake was just amazing, I have tried mochacchino, and it looked pretty. Milk shake was so smooth, unlike those thick texture ones. It was so good, I’d stop by just to get milk shake for sure. <br/><br/>Price was average for deluxe burgers. There is Peter’s drive Inn close by, compare to them it is expensive but the quality is worth the money. <br/><br/>The store is so cute, it has arcade game machines inside. It is small but really cute and cozy. <br/><br/>Service was nice and friendly. I saw some regular people and them and servers were like a family. Very nice atmosphere!

It was a nice retro themed burger place. Staff was helpful. Food was good. The shake of the month: pumpkin shake was killer.<br/><br/>I also ordered Buffalo chicken burger and onion rings.

The burgers here were delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely. Service was great as well. I’ll definitely be back to try more from their menu.

I been here years ago and liked it. I tried it again and was pleased to see their standards gone up if anything. Obviously with out argument the best grease spoon in Calgary. Super flavorful fresh juicy burger and super fresh fries. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Compliments to the grill girl and staff! I will be back!
C
One of the best places in the city for burgers by far. Flavourful, delicious, goes perfectly with a milkshake and some fries or onion rings on the side. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. Love the retro vibe & interior, price is great for the quality & amount of food you get. Honestly nothing I think they should change.

Everyone kept telling me I HAD to try Boogie's burgers, so I'm shocked that I'm not a big fan after three visits. Starting with the upsides: the sauces and milkshakes were tasty, and it's a fun and unique ambiance. In terms of why I am not as enthusiastic as others: It costs as much for a full meal and has as long of a wait as many sit-down restaurants, but the flavour and eating experience range from fine to a little disappointing. The menu descriptions always sound so delicious, but then I've found the flavours just don't stand out. I've also found the way the burgers are put together makes it so they fall apart when you're eating them and you're left with a soppy mess. The fries are quite different, they're like the small leftover bits you get at the bottom of a fry bag. Maybe there's a niche of people that really enjoy those and I'm just in the minority? But as someone who loves to dip my fries, it's unsatisfying to try and dip a tiny fry nub into their (delicious) sauces. Overall I prefer other places for burgers and fries.
Chris McFarland
Sam’s Burger, fries and a Peanut Butter Cup milkshake from Boogies...🤤🤤 Amazing! Small place, but worth any kind of wait for sure! Boog Mak is pretty awesome too. Peter’s honestly can’t hold a candle to this place in any way. While enjoying a milkshake from Boogies, I don’t feel like my face is going to suck itself inside out like at Peters, where I personally find their shakes too thick. Will always love this place!

I can't believe it took us 4 years to try this place. Everything tasted so fresh. My hubby had the raspberry shake and loved it. I tried a sip and it was thick, creamy and tastes like fresh raspberries. We shared the large onion rings and they also tasted fresh and home made. We also liked it that they were light on the salt. I tried their version of the Big Mac and added bacon. I could only eat half of it as it came with a double burger. Hubby had their regular burger in a double and added cheese and bacon. They allow and encourage you to customize your burgers. The bins were also super fresh and held the double burgers well. We liked that the burger covered the entire bun. Staff was friendly and service was quick. You order at the cash and the staff brings your order to you. They do have a liquor license and sell a small assortment of beer, wine and ciders.<br/>

Boogie's Burgers has been in the Cresent Heights neighbourhood for years and I have never had a bad experience. It's an open concept location where your order via cafeteria style and your order is brought to you when it's completed. Pricing is good, restaurant is clean and it serves many local clientele.

Whenever I come to Calgary or the mountains, I always make a pit stop here! It's a hidden gem, and one of the best places to have a burger. Milkshakes are amazing as well!
JimmySweetzYYC
Boogie's is definitely a contender for the best burger in town. Lots of unique burger options on the menu which are very intriguing. They are big burgers, but in diameter not height, which is a breath of fresh air. And they had the Jays game on the tv which was nice.
Katrin Wittke
You can’t go wrong with Boogies!!!<br/>Whenever we have visitors in town, we make sure to eat at least once there and everybody is uberly excited about the place. If you like it a bit spicy, go with the Blazing Saddle. It is out if this world. The BoogMac wirh extra bavon is my personal favourite. We are also ordering the spicy fries (which can vary depending who is in the kitchen) and onion rings. You won’t regret it. Oh and don’t forget their amaizanaise. It’s their homemade cajun majo.
Nicole Justine
Came here last night for dinner. Is a small joint, but is clean and open. Boyfriend ordered the Mac and cheese burger and said it was good. Ordered their spicy fries to share. They were good - wasn’t a huge fan of the lemon aioli though. Ordered the fay burger which has bacon, mushrooms and mushroom sauce. Added cheese. Should have removed the bacon since it took over a lot of the flavour. The bun was soft and the patty was very good. Mushrooms and mushroom sauce were very good on the burger. People working there were friendly. Would come back.
Stephen Rozitis
Simply the best, better than all the rest. I love everything about this place and if you haven’t ordered a caeser yet do it, you won’t be disappointed
Jana Schmidt Bienz
Food was very good. Especially liked my milkshake. Place is small so for best chance at finding a parking spot and table inside go at non-peak hours.
Leslie Anne
Been here twice now and both times we're good. The food is made within 5-10 minutes of ordering and it's yummy. I liked that the waitress came to check up on us within 15 minutes of getting our food.

I had a Fay's Burger and my sister got the Red Dawg Clogger.  We also shared an order of tater tots.  The food was good and was a big portion.  The burgers come with a knife if that's an indication.  I had to cut mine in half to eat.  My burger was messy and fell apart so I did end up eating some of it in bits and pieces, but I enjoyed what I had.  The tater tots were hot and fresh and my sister really liked her hot dog though she found the bun kind of disintegrated as she ate it.  We went on a Sunday afternoon and parking was fine.  Service was polite and friendly.  I would love to come back to try something else.

My go to place for Burgers. Friendly service and great selection. My favorite is the Boog Mac and spicy fries. The milkshakes are awesome. Cool place too. Some old school video games
Oatmealforlife
Food was decent but didn't meet my expectations. I had the jerk chicken burger with a side of fries. The burger was average in flavour and not at all spicy. The fries were thin and cooked well. Overall, good value for the price but nothing to write home about.
OAK4EVER
So overrated. I guess it's popular for the distinct "people" in the area it's in, which explains the decent reviews. Ground beef is oddly seasoned. Milkshake was almost warm...made me sick. There is way too many other better burger options out there.
Poguzia
Two friends and I went here last night and got the fat elvis and key lime milk shake, fries, and three burgers. <br/><br/>The decor was amazing. Very old school with the video games and leather seats but it was so nice that we sat outside on their patio. <br/><br/>The service was friendly fast and profesional. The burgers came out with a knife because they were huge and you needed one. The price was amazing but the burgers worth it. You can't get prices like these in Calgary anymore. The only thing which was missing was the fries, they were burned. Otherwise amazing and will be back again.

-Parking can be tricky during busy times<br/>-Order at the counter then find a seat (some didn't catch on to that)<br/>-Staff is friendly, great customer service<br/>-Good portion sizes, they give a decent amount for your $$<br/>-Spicy fries with Aioli are great (shoestring fries)<br/>-Fay's burger was great, could have used a bit more sauce though<br/>-Overall experience was pretty good, no complaints other than the parking issue, and I'd for sure go back!<br/>

Boogies Burgers has been around a long time, and its a neat fun place, hidden away off  Edmonton trail and 8th street,on the whole the funky combinations are cool and off the wall, part of its charm is its worn appearance,it certainly doesn't fit the mass chain appearance, and that is kind of nice for a change, however on whole the burgers are just OK , I wouldn't say earth shattering , the combinations of what you can get on them are fun, i will go back , it was a neat place and the overall feel of it was good.

Parking can be tight and the place has a grungy vibe. Don't let that stop you. The food is very good. It is less expensive then I expected. Defiantly has a hippy/hipster thing going on. One amusing observation - there were a surprising number of men in beards.

Food : I got a single. It came with shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato, white onion and sauce. It was good but too saucy. The meat was really good but I wished that I had gotten an extra patty. Next time I'll get a double with sauce on the side. Fries are really good! They're shoestring and I think they cut them there. They remind me of a skinnier version of the fries at SpotOn which I love.<br/>Cost : Paid $9 for a single, large fries, no drink.<br/>Ambiance : cute diner atmosphere<br/>Service : was about 10 minutes for my dish at 8pm on a Wednesday with one couple ahead of me. Girl on till was really friendly and had good suggestions for the food.<br/>
Kim
Good, massive burgers that you can try with some funky toppings. Not the best for GF foodies but I was able to have the burger wrapped in lettuce. Our teens in the party really enjoyed it and would want to come back again. But I think there are better done burger places out there with more atmosphere and GF options (Grumans and Naina's Kitchen come to mind).
Mike Lastname
Over - rated expected more based on the hype. It's great if you are a hipster. Burger was just ok. Nothing spectacular. Would I eat there again ? Yes. Would I go out of my way for it ? Nope.

The boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place by accident. We had something else completely different in mind for lunch but as our first couple options were closed at that time we "settled" for Boogie's Burgers... And oh boy, I'm glad we did. <br/><br/>We've lived in the area for now almost a year but never had the chance to come down and try this place. The ambiance is quite cool and convivial, looking like a mix between an old diner and some 1980's nostalgia basement, complete with arcade tables. <br/><br/>I thought the burgers were quite tasty and the portions were generous without being overly large. The food was also reasonably priced and the staff super attentive. <br/><br/>I'm not sure yet if I'll become a regular but I sure will consider visiting again if the desire for a quick, good burger nearby strikes again!
Kyle E. Bridge
Just like me, these burgers are both deadly and ruggedly handsome. The milkshakes are great, and so are the burgers. Can't say that I'm overly fond of the pizza burger or the mac and cheese wedges. But, whenever I'm worried that I've been eating too healthily, I pop on by for a Shawn's burger.
Marc Anthony Heintz
Went here a few months ago. Heard great things but was not impressed with the food. Had a pizza burger and felt is was sloppy yet bland. Maybe the others are better, maybe down.the road will try for better luck! On the plus side, service was top notch!
Milan Todorovic
The inside decor is very interesting and authentic, although a piece of the ceiling has peeled off. The fries and milkshake (chocolate) were good; however, the burger ("Sam's burger") was bland, as well as the house sauce. For a similar price Carl's Jr offers much tastier burgers.
Joeyrivs
My wife learned about the place when it got featured in Food Network's "You Got To Eat Here" and since then she's been askin me to try. So today we decided to eat here and true enough the burger indeed is very good. Will recommend Jebbs Burger bcoz its so yummy and light not overpowering in terms of taste. Always include their spicy fries coz they are equally good . . . The place is vey unassumming but big in taste . . .
Hips Dont Lie
This is a cool place to have around the neighbourhood. It feels like you've stepped back in time inside with its typical funky diner look. The staff were all very friendly and helped with recommendations. The burger selection is quite big at reasonable prices. The burger itself is huge, almost twice the size of regular burgers. Burger tasted good but a bit too heavy to go back for another. We also got the spicy fries and they were delicious. If you're in the area, give it a try!
Quince
Has a really cool vibe with great music. The portions were also generous. The burgers were good, but not the best I've had. The fries were nothing that special, but the onion rings were really good! All the staff were very nice and we didn't have to wait long at all for our food. I was intrigued by some of the other more elaborate burgers, so will probably return to try those!
Scruffle
This is a surprisingly cool place. It's a hidden gem on Edmonton Trail, even though we've all driven past. It's got a cool retro vibe -- like a 70s theme restaurant which is basically what it is. I'm not sure it was by design, it just kind of happened over the years. The air brushed murals on the wall recall happier simpler times. It's not exactly cheap and some of the burgers are gimmicky. I don't consider burgers -- or hotdogs -- gourmet food. But the Elvis peanut butter banana and bacon milkshake is truly divine.

Let’s cut the to chase, Boogie Burgers has legitimately amazing burgers. My final score is a 4, so those with the attention of a ferret on a double expresso in front of a McDonalds salad bar can move on while I rant about how this location is a foodie paradise in disguise, and that anyone that thumbs their nose at Boogie Burgers is an uncultured barbarian. Because don’t let the fact that the bathroom smells like a skunk died in the septic tank of slaughterhouse fool you. Don’t be confused by the retro 80’s arcade machines or the colorful chairs lifted from a foreclosed elementary school, this place is foodie heaven.   <br/><br/>Here’s where readers are obviously confused—a lot of people’s assumptions regarding foodies are endorsed by that asinine Boston Pizza commercial from a few years ago, the image of conceited, self-absorbed, judgmental, verbose (hey!), and condescending trend-groupies. You know, people with food blogs (cough), vegans who explain to everyone why they’re vegan, people who constantly drop names of great chefs they know like Ryan Cyre, Wayne Kitchen, or Vikram Vij, people who boast about their eating habits and share every meal on Instagram. All they care about is rambling on and on in a masturbatory prose about various culinary techniques and flavor profiles. <br/><br/>Totally not me (maybe a little); I don’t write that way for one—I just attempt to entertain as well as educate. And a true foodie is one that enjoys food. That’s it; that’s all there is. Just enjoy food. We need food like we need air, but there’s no reason why we can’t appreciate the experience. My friend thought that after three days of sushi, tapas, and Brazilians barbecue (where food is delivered via sword), that I would turn my nose up at the idea of a great burger spot. The point is, a burger can be amazing. It doesn’t require truffle mayonnaise or bison meat, and it doesn’t need to be delivered on the back of a mule towed by Juan Valdez to be good. The greatest meals I’ve ever had were simple, not requiring foreign ingredients or molecular gastronomy. Invest your passion in scrambled eggs and I’ll extol said qualities to the sub-200 followers I have on Tumblr. <br/><br/>And I’m confused by images of a brawny muscle-woman and Michael Jackson on the bathroom doors. Which one do I use? There’s also a picture of a toilet over the actual toilet as well as a framed painting customers are apparently welcome to deface. The menu features a caricature of a slightly redacted Ronald McDonald fleeing from Boogie Burgers’ iconic all-star—the “Fear the Reaper”, four beef patties, four slices of bacon, a fried egg, two slices of cheddar, a 100% all-beef wiener with all the toppings and skewered with a corndog. <br/><br/>Holy Mary mother of God. <br/><br/>Don’t look at me; I didn’t order that. I have some dignity, thank you very much, a small measure of self-respect. <br/><br/>I ordered the Red Dawg Clogger with a Cookie Monster milkshake. <br/><br/>What? It was on special. <br/><br/>That wasn’t even all of it, fringing those blubber-factories was the basic Fay’s Burger and a bowl of spicy fries. The prices were insanely low, but I really should have exercised some measure of restraint. Said burgers were delivered on a basic checkerboard butcher paper and stabbed aggressively through the top by a steak knife, like the meal had to be killed before being served. And as stated at the beginning, they were amazing. The staff were efficient and agreeable, and given the impressive crowds cramming it at lunch time, calm and professional. Of course, this is nothing new. Boogie Burgers has amassed considerable popularity before I came around, claiming it an institution, a landmark even. It’s garnered attention in various media, so I’m not lending much weight in this campaign. I’m just confirming the apparent obvious. It’s not pretty; it’s most definitely rough around the edges, and it just might have some of the best burgers that don’t require taking a mortgage out on my house.<br/><br/>Yes, it’s a foodie destination, just like those places where every employee looks like a hobo from the 1930s, places with the words “brick”, “oak”, “rustic”, or “gastro” in its name. It’s worthy of visit, just…avoid the bathroom.<br/><br/>Food: 5/5<br/><br/>Service: 4/5<br/><br/>Presentation: 3/5<br/><br/>Value: 5/5<br/><br/>Recommendation: 4/5
Jeanna
The onion rings we great! We had a Fay's burger, it was pretty good! Needed a pickle though.. Staff was super friendly and a cute diner type atmosphere.
Mortaloser
To be honest, I find the burgers here only okay. Price is fair, employees were nice, presentation was decent.<br/>I really liked their onion rings :)
Dwain
The burgers come in every variety imaginable (and a few that are beyond my imagination). The hamburgers and buns are fresh; the decor not so much. Fries are better than good. Service is very friendly and the staff seem to enjoy what they do and take pride in the place. Don't get here often enough.
Seafoodie
A new favourite hang out of mine. <br/>I ordered the angry Aztec shake and man it's good! I forgot which kind of burger i had, but the I remember it was delish! Fried egg is so good on burgers.... Wasn't the best burger I've had ever but defiantly better then peters and other fast food places. The service was awesome! The main floor server let us move tables around to seat the large group, then bright out our burgers and shakes and left us alone which in this kind of establishment is the perfect amount of interaction:) Will return to try the Mac and cheese for sure!
HungryHips
Boogie's is a cute little burger joint. Tons of unique burgers and we have been pleasantly surprised with all of our choices so far! Decor is dated.. but I think its the look they are trying to go for. Could use a little freshening up to make it a trendy little place. But overall we will go back for the burgers.
ML
It's good. Just good, not great. I've been here a few times, it has a slightly odd half hipster half genuine retro vibe to it. Justifiably best known for their interesting milkshakes (the angry aztec is very good) but these are a little bit too thick and heavy for my personal tastes. The fries and burgers and things are all fine, but nothing too exciting. Service is quite variable - if you get served at the bar or get takeout it's usually good, but table service is very hit and miss. <br/><br/>I would take this place over Peter's, but given that OEB and Diner Deluxe are just down the street, I can't see myself going back too often.
Noel
I love the burgers here and try to come at least once a month. I'd come more often but the location isn't great for me. <br/><br/>The atmosphere is laid back and the staff are very pleasant and attentive. They have also been very accommodating to specific meal requests/customization ie. No onions, etc <br/><br/>The only word of caution I have is that you need to read the burger descriptions. I saw quite a few reviews where people were surprised by the sauces and such. But here's an idea - if you don't like mushroom or pizza sauce on your burger then don't order one with those sauces.
Jane Yang
The burger is very good! This is my second time I've been here and the food is good! The burger is so juicy and meaty. The fries and onion rings are also VERY good!
Alex T
One of the better burger joints in Calgary. Good quality milkshakes, but the burgers are really top. The choices of topping are wide, the fries and sides are excellent.
Britt Rae
Amazing! I finally found a good burger place with amazing fries and sauces on top of the juicy delicious burgers! Great service, staff and atmosphere. Even the milkshakes were delicious!
Bob Smart
Better than Peters by a long shot! Would give it a 4.5 if it wasn't so expensive for a burger joint. Very cool in terms of creativity, and the atmosphere is pretty awesome. Just can't get a burger and fries, and drink for under $15
Michelle
This place I would say is better than Peter's Drive Thru because the burgers actually looks and taste good, instead of it just being covered with ketchup and condiments. The inside looks like a diner with old school video games. The service and price is decent. There is a parking lot, but not much room for big vehicles.
Enjoyfood
I really enjoy this place, the burgers are creative as are the milk shakes. I often enjoy the aztec shake or the fat elvis shake. The burgers are made as you order and assembled skillfully. They don't just simply slop sauces on a pattie and throw the bun on. Also sometimes the music playing here reminds me of my teen years. Skip Peters. Come here.
Benjammin
One of my personal favorite burger places they have the best toppings for a burger ive ever seen deep fied macaroni wedges, crushed doritos, fried egg, and all the classics they have a great poutine, and they never skimp on the portions. Get some classic arcade style street fighter in while you wait too
Dan Lepkowski
This place is very near and dear to<br/>My stomach, I've been coming here for years almost having sampled the whole<br/>menu. The irony that peters is just down the road and this place offering ten fold of what peters has. <br/>Burgers and big and delicious, as are the spicy fries and the fat Elvis milkshake . A combo that cannot disappoint. Best part is the burgers are beautifully crafted with such care, not just thrown together quickly. This stands out in the taste and feeling of the burger in your hands. Boogies has great atmosphere that sets the mods perfectly for one of their meals. Only complaint is it's slowly not becoming a "cheap eat" as prices go up and a combo can run you close to 16-20$, and Te chicken burgers are not worth ordering.<br/><br/>Do yourself a favour, have a casual night out and check Boogies out, you will not be disappointed.
Storo
Great place. Very nice and kind service. Fast as well. The burgers are amazing as well as there onion rings and yam fries ! Highly recommend this eatery.
Brandon Pereira
Okay burger, I've definitely had a better burgers elsewhere. The burgers were thin and the buns not the greatest. I don't think I'd go again.
Norman B Potter
Tasty, juicy burger. Good mac and cheese wedges as well. A friend told me that boogies now is what Peters used to be like, and suddenly all my friends going to Peters made sense, if they used to do burgers this well my friends who have yet to discover boogies are hoping for a second coming.
J D
Was a burger, nothing great and service was not what people write here.  It was an average messy burger, ground beef is ground beef, you can fill it before cooking to give it flavor, but really everyone serves regular ground beef burgers so I did not find anything great about it.  Maybe if you had bison or angus beef that would make you unique, but otherwise it is just a slab of ground beef.
Kim
Expected way more because of the rating...The are very average, nothing really special about them... The are just ok... The milkshake was good

My wife and I went here while on a holiday road trip in August 2014 and we wish there was one in BC. We ordered just burgers with no sides and we were satisfied. I ordered the 'don't fear the reaper burger' and my jaw dropped when I saw this 4 story burger placed in front of me. The only way I could eat it was with a knife and fork after opening it in half because it wouldn't squish down enough for me to open my mouth over it. If we find ourselves in Calgary, we will be back for sure.<br/><br/>Edit: Here we are 4 years later and they are still great. Ordered their Blazing Saddle BBQ burger and it was everything a BBQ burger should be. It’s got a great smoky spice to it that goes really well with the bacon, beef, and fried onions. This place is a must visit when in Calgary.
Hopelessly Hungry
Really great service, cute little store! The fries are delicious and perfectly sweet spiced! The aoli was yummy! My hubbies Young elvis (banana and peanut butter) shake was decadent and friggen scrumptious! The burgers were a little less amazing but non the less yummy! I would come again! I can see why this teeny little classic stayed open so long!

I've driven by this burger joint a million times and always meant to stop by after hearing good reviews and finally did. I must admit, it looked sketchy from the outside but when I went it I was surprised it had sort of a funky vibe. <br/><br/>The staff was very friendly and immediately brought out a water dish for my dogs on the patio. They have some really unique options at fairly competitive prices.  I was surprised at the variety on the menu, from burgers and toppings to sides and milkshakes. Food was great- fresh and prepared with care.<br/><br/>Don't let the outside of this run down, dated building scare you off, what's inside is worth stopping in to enjoy.

my favourite date spot. my boyfriend and I love it & find ourselves there more often than not. burgers are well priced with a healthy amount of bread. their French fries and milkshakes are beyond wonderful too

I don't get it. No idea how this place consistently gets voted best burger in town. I have tried it twice, and the second time only confirmed what I felt after the first- meh. Ingredients were definitely fresh, but burger totally lacked flavour and needed seasoning. Bun okay overall, but not memorable. Ordered 2 mini corndogs; both were still frozen on the inside. I shake my head every time I pass this place because of the rave reviews. If you're looking for an amazing burger; look someplace else.

I'm pissed off, for the price I paid for my meal I could have had a good burger at fergus and bix or original joes.<br/><br/>I got Keith's burger, spicy fries and a licorice milkshake. The Keith's burger wasn't bad but it wasn't good, there was way to much sauce and the sauce on it tasted bad. Maybe if I got a burger without pizza sauce it would be alright but I could tell by the taste of the beef and the other essential burger ingredients that a normal burger still would not have been anything special in the taste department.<br/><br/>The spicy fries that I got were borderline shit tier quality. All the fries were small, about 1-2 inches in length and soft. Sure they weren't soggy but come on, I can't be the only one who likes crispy fries. That's not the only thing that was bad about these fries though, the spice they used wasn't too appealing. Don't get me wrong the heat was there but there was no character at all to this spice which made the fries very unenjoyable.<br/>How can you have a burger joint without good fries?<br/><br/>I will say that my licorice milkshake was pretty good, can't really complain about that one. Although it's nothing really to be proud of because most places have good milkshakes.<br/><br/>Overall it's very obvious that I didn't have a pleasant experience, I won't totally blame boogies for that though, I think my experience was ruined by all the reviewers on this site who overly hyped up this place leading me to believe it would be something special when in reality its nothing more than an average hipster burger joint. I get the appeal, its all "cool", the arcade machines, the rap music, the edgy posters on the wall but in the end I'm here to have some good food in comfort and maybe even take a nice piss in clean washroom. All I'm saying is that for the price I paid I could have gotten all of that and some great food at an actual restaurant.<br/><br/>Final rating: would not go back/10<br/><br/> <br/>

Went today. One of those hole in the walls you always wanted to try but never did... so I finally did! Price is good. Inexpensive. For what it is. I had the mac and cheese burger. What a delight. The staff are very friendly and easy on the eyes. All in all it was a good experience. There are a very select few places I'd rate above this but very few.... so if this is a place you clicked on... go. Don't think about it just go. It's well worth the trip

I like how you order at the front and then they bring the food to your table for you. The burgers I've had so far are better than the burgers and sandwitches I get at other places so that is a big plus for me just needs more girls.

Overall, a great funky and happening burger joint with tasty burgers and killer milkshakes. Off to work out as I have a wedding coming up.. cheating with Fat Elvis (and a Boogies Burger) was totally worth it lol!
Kkkkkkkaren
this place is old school and retro so its pretty interesting! i lovedddd their salmon burger, i recommend eating in cause they got that hot pepper stuff you can add to your burger and you can enjoy it with yo friends. would come back!

Will Drive for Boogies. This has been my 8-year old and my go-to place when we need a good burger. It's nostalgic, eclectic, and just a cool place to go when your hangry for a burger. The sign says it all, "Peters....really?"<br/><br/>Forever a favorite.
LC
That Milkshake... The only thing I remember is the Milkshake; the one with the bacon, peanutbutter and banana. I crave it every once in a while.<br/>Would go back just for that milkshake!

Nice burg brah!. This place has an old diner feel with a rustic, I don't give a s*** vibe. Cold beer, frosty mugs. Finally a place in Calgary with an original burger. Big flat patties in a large bun. The meat doesn't stick out of the bun and the bun isn't tall, so you don't have to dislocate your jaw to fit the beast in your mouth. Oh and it comes with a big steak knife to cut it in half in case you have small-lady-hands. If you're tired of eating burgers that look and taste the same everywhere you go, you should try this place for a change of pace. Nothing mind-blowing, just different enough to care about writing a review.

First time here. i think i had a sams burger. pretty good. kinda messy. fries were great. a little pricey at 15$$ but that included bacon gravy and a pop. id hit it again.

Peters is better But this p.... Peters is better<br/>But this place is good hipsters and long lines <br/>Cool they sell beer but burgers weren't as good as I thought <br/>Pretty pricey too for what you get<br/><br/>Onion rings were great<br/><br/>Shake tasted syrupy

Eh.. I expected some really delicious burgers, but they're really just okay. The red sauce, I personally found to be kind of gross. Their milkshakes are pretty good though, especially the Young Elvis! Although in comparison to what you get for your money, you could get a giant milkshake at Peter's for similar cost.
Foodfrenzy
Not good.. The burger patty's are so thin! Not a good burger at all.

Couldn't be bothered. Have heard good reviews bout boogie's burgers, which i never got to try because the women in the front of the till! While staring at her for 10 mins she never bothered to help me. While she just looked at me blankly I figured sitting down maybe she will understand that i was there to order.... Nope she just continued to stare at me blankly.... Will not be returning to the terrible parking and no service i received. Get better, friendlier service at the YYC security during a cavity search!
Kryssiecat
They have a very, very small kitchen so if it's busy and any mistakes get made, orders back up and you can wait over a half hour for a simple order. My husband doesn't like them but my mom says they're better than Peter's. I have to agree with my husband. Their red sauce is pretty gross. It's like they just dumped ketchup, mustard, and relish into a tub and mixed them. I do enjoy their chicken strips though.
JoeB
Terrible service. Hands some of the slowest service I have ever received.... The place wasn't dead but man they didn't care if you were a paying customer or not, then not only do they have a tip jar (which I love to do when it's earned) they have two! Like just incase you missed the first one.

Blazin’ Saddles. Blazin' Saddles is the only burger I've ever ordered here and it is delicious. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great burger. It was a great atmosphere with very friendly staff and I'll definitely be back. LOVE IT!!!!
Rocknrollwriter
MEH - it was "OK". I have to agree with most of the reviews - a LOT of hype for an average burger. Crappy parking for customers, be prepared to wait...and wait for your food and pay FAR too much for a burger that you could make better at home. Sorry guys - won't be back.

Less Than Average Burger At Best. I don't understand the hype. This is the second time in about 15 years that I've gone there. Had dinner with my family there tonight. Won't be going back. The burgers were bland. The beef cannot be fresh or if it is, it is such a poor cut of beef that it is tasteless. The beef in a burger should be king and it shouldn't be frozen. It should be fresh ground chuck. The fries were decent but that is a large size? Yeah parking sucks but that doesn't have any bearing on the dining experience for me.<br/><br/>The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere is fine. Hipster? Maybe. I feel sorry for people that rave about the burgers because they truly haven't had an excellent burger experience. These weren't worth the calories or the money. The Amazinaise dip is delicious tho.

It's an okay burger joint with hipster interior. If you're craving some greasy food, this place will totally hit the spot. And it's doubly awesome if you're a little drunk. But, honestly the burgers are just OK. I will have a hard time to pick between a burger from Boogie's and Wendy's or McD's. Ok, maybe not McD's, but it still doesn't blow away any other burgers in town. It's quite average. Sure, the interior's all hipster and service is nice, so if you're into that, then for sure try it out.
Dunc209
Overhyped hipster hangout, average at best. Heard about this place and that their burgers are unique so thought we would give it a try. They put mushroom sauce on almost every burger and the sauce tastes exactly like cream of mushroom soup, blah. Burger patties are paper thin and the huge buns are basically puffed-up wonder bread. Taste was barely even OK and the meat temperature was lukewarm. The yam fries had zero flavour - no seasoning, and the mini corn dogs were also bland. Spent about $35 for two people: 2 burgers, yam fries, mini corn dogs, one milkshake, one Heineken, also lukewarm. Only bright side was that the milkshake was good, although did not need the gummy candies that were thrown in. Won't be going back there, fooled this sucker once.

Angry Aztec Milkshake. Got it because the name was funny. it tasted phenominal, got my nose a little runny!

Fay's burger, spicy fries & holy moly aioli. I'd heard the rave's... I love the small diner experience! Parking sucks, but I've been able to grab a spot the two times I've been here. The spicy fries are great - I want to know what seasoning they use so I can buy it for home! The holy moly aioli was also really delish - I'll for sure get again. Fay's burger was good, but next time I have to get something more funky - I just wasn't super hungry at the time. I wish I was asked if I wanted to add cheese, because they Fay's burger needed it. The bun was nice and fresh!
Magically Delicous
Sorry to say this. I love this place. Fun, decorative diner. Great food. Easy prices. Its been a few years since I have been here and lately I have been on a veggie burger frenzy. last night I tried Boogies veggie burger and I wasn't overly impressed.<br/>the bun was fresh, warm and fluff which was great!!!. Though The toppings were sparse.... and the veggie burger barely existed. :(<br/>I personally love a thick hearty patty (Ship and Anchor) but I found the best part was the bun :(

Bring back the key lime pie milkshake. The best milk shake that I've ever had. I ask for it every time I'm there. <br/><br/>Sam's Burger is my fav. <br/><br/>one request. <br/><br/>Can you fix the joystick for street fighter so I can show my son how it's really done or better yet, sell me the game!!!

Did not disappoint. My only regret was waiting so long to eat here. simply amazing!
Hughjass84
Pretty Good!. I had the pizza burger , and it was very tasty. Little expensive compared to other places.

Don't Fear the Reaper. My wife regularly watches "Gotta Eat Here" and she recommended we go here, and after a dreadful experience at a hot dog place we went to for lunch I was hungry. In a nut shell the food, the service, and the space itself were AMAZING!!!

I wish there was one in BC. We ordered just burgers and we were satisfied. I ordered a hot type of chicken burger and it was so good, the chicken wasn't dry at all. My husband order this 'don't fear the reaper burger' and his jaw dropped when he saw it. He can pack in the food and this burger sure did the trick in filling him up. It is a whole in the wall and nothing to gauk at, but it is a gem with the food. If we lived in Calgary, we'd be back for sure.

Cannot believe it's taken me so long to get here!. I have to admit that our visit here yesterday was an unplanned detour after our original Fathers Day dinner plans fell through, we were left all dressed up and no where to go, with a very hungry Dad and a hangry child. I saved the day and masked my poor planning by taking us to Boogies.<br/><br/>First - very reasonably priced for the amount of food, under $40 for a huge meal for 3. I ordered the Deep Fried Mac & Cheese burger (yes, it was as amazing at it sounds), the Angry Aztek milkshake (I am now addicted - spicy chocolate shakes, who would have thunk?) and an order of spicy fries for us to share. My boyfriend ordered the Shawn's Burger and a Rootbeer shake, the kid had chicken fingers and fries. We all barely finished, and honestly I shouldn't have eaten it all, but it was way to good to walk away from. The spicy plum sauce at the table was amazing as well. We can't wait to come back to try different items and play a little more Street Fighter!<br/><br/>The staff is great, were very patient with us first timers as we tried to order. The atmosphere is awesome, the place is super comfy and casual. Keep up the good work team!

Went here for shakes! The peanut butter cup shake was absolutely incredible. Easily the best shake I've had in this city. I'll have to come back for burgers and some spicy fries, but the onion rings were also fabulous. The fries weren't bad, but they weren't as rave-worthy as the other items! Highly recommended and I'll be back!

Best Burger for those not just looking for something you make at home, great Shakes too.. Th menu is a collection of different burger styles and ingredients, from my fav the Jebb burger which is beef patties and Bacon and Sliced hot dogs as a layer, to the Jerk Chicken burger with the classic taste not a bbq style that many use as 'jerk chicken'. Their shakes are also a collection of greatness with the Young Elvis being my fav (fat Elvis adds Bacon to PB Banana), but like the burgers I usually try something new every other time I go. Heads'-up though , their spicy fries are HOT fries not just savourey fries you get from other places, I like them some don't.<br/>The atmosphere is very 70s including video games from the 80s and the menu sign that will remind you of an old hockey rink snack bar.<br/>If you're visiting for tge first time avoid noon rush as parking is limited and I don't want you take a spot I could be using nor wait in line for n00bs to finally decide what to order. =;-)

The Great Burger tradition continues!. Boogies has been my go to burger place for many years. The current owners, the third I believe, are doing a fine job of keeping up Fay and Sam's (the original owners) legacy. They did a great job of saving Boogies from the rather unfortunate condition that the second owners had left it. The best feature of Boogies is consistency. The burger is always fantastic. And it's available in a lot of combinations. The fries have been suffering of late, with a lot of tiny fries (3/4" to 1") being served. A potato change in it's infancy? I'm sure they'll get on top of this soon. Lastly, the milkshakes may be the best in the city. So many flavors! You gotta try one. Wow!<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>ions. Nothing Special. As a native Calgarian, I always heard about this place but never been. After watching the Food Network regularly, I've seen a lot of burger joints on TV, so I mentally composed a list of components that I would consider to be a great burger (i.e juicy, meaty, beefy, saucy, crispy bacon, proportion of condiments to burger, bun vs. burger ratio etc) <br/><br/>Boogie Burger's wasn't anything special...Burger was okay (average patty, bacon crispy but nothing special, bun to burger ratio good) fries were really overly crispy and seasoned, milkshake came from a machine so you cant really screw that up. <br/><br/>I think it was the nostalgic atmosphere that really enticed me to enjoy the food. Was it the best burger I ever had? Probably not, but it wasn't the worst burger either.

Tess thinks Boogie's Burgers is Rude.. Great burgers! I'm obsessed with the angry aztec milkshake! However, I don't like places that bash their competitors so that's a little disappointing to see, your food should speak for itself not a rude sign! but still GO.
El Guapo
Milkshakes. The Young Elvis is the greatest milkshake, ever. Go here and order it, a large. Also, bring back the yam chips Boogie's, they were the best!
