Review Jps Indian Bistro - Calgary

One of the best North Indian restaurants for sure. Food is very legitimate. Great customer service, unlimited parking and nice ambiance.

So good! I finally made it up to this location in the North and it was worth every kilometre and dollar. Absolutely delicious! Tried the sweet and sour eggplant dish and the okra dish on recommendation of the host, and they did not disappoint. Both dishes were so rich and full of flavour. And my go to dish Kadai paneer was also šŸ‘ Honestly I canā€™t fault my meal. Portions were excellent, prices very fair, and service was friendly and helpful. Thank you! Iā€™ll definitely be ordering again. šŸ˜Š

The minced eggplant dish was delicious. The mango chicken was nice but much more subtle than we hoped for. The tandoori fit the bill. Staff were very helpful and accommodating around dietary restrictions. Portions where reasonable (per expectations) for the price.

Fantastic! Got the seafood curry mix and veggie pakora. The pakora was absolutely top notch! I will definitely be back for that little combo. Love that they actually use nice big shrimp as well. For the price there was a lot of value. We will certainly return!

Ordered the lamb vindaloo, lamb biryani, veg samosas, butter and garlic nan. You guys hit it out of the park, awesome food, great experience all at a fair price. I'll definitely be back. Would love to see you guys introduce a few more meats though, goat and beef specifically!

JPā€™s used to be our go to for indian staples but our last experience was anything but memorable. We ordered thru doordash (guilty yes) but never would have imagined what we went through. First, we didnā€™t get what we ordered as the restaurant ran out of the ā€œbaingan bhartaā€. We accepted the sweet and sour eggplant which was the recommended replacement: The two dishes are worlds apart, and our problems are just getting started. The Butter Paneer: a dish we have frequently ordered and devoured, had two, yes two pieces of paneer, rest was just the butter sauce. Dude, whereā€™s my paneer. Just call it ā€œtangy creamy butter sauceā€ if you ran out of Paneer. The worst, was yet to come. The daal makhani was a freaking minefield full of raw ginger. I get it, Indian curries are at times topped with juliennes of raw ginger. What we got was not juliennes, we got chunks of raw ginger with every second bite. To the point where our palettes went numb. Only saving grace was the naans that we literally downed with some cheese. Experience to remember, yes, fondly? I doubt.

Ate supper here today to participate in our community school's fund raising to build a playground. I have always wanted to try this place and I'm glad this opportunity came today for the reason above! The place looks nice and clean. Very cozy and lovely ambiance. I loved the comics framed on the walls going to the washroom and the art work in the washroom too. Our server was friendly and gave good recommendations. The food was delicious. We had veggie samosa, JPs buttered chicken, lamb biryani, and garlic naan! They we're all delicious and flavorful. I also ordered lassi which I haven't had for a long time and it was perfect. The only thing is, I found it a bit pricey. Also, I like how they used paper bag for pickup and take out orders. But I wondered why they gave us a plastic bag for our leftovers box instead of a paper bag. I wish they eliminate the use of plastic straws too and switch to paper boxes for take out instead of styrofoams. I'll come back here again for a special occasion or when I have a great craving for Indian food! I'm glad it's in our neighbourhood!

Came here on a quiet evening. There was only one or two other tables of people in the restaurant but tons of takeout orders. The restaurant is nice, but I found the blue benches against the wall to be a bit uncomfortable to sit on. You also have to lean forward awkwardly to be able to eat your food. The food was good. Portion sizes were perfect and it was delicious. I also really liked the naan as it's not overly oily and personally I prefer it over most of the naan at other restaurants in the city. Overall, pretty good!

My daughter bit down on something so hard in her naan she needs a dental X-ray after days of pain. At the time, I asked the server what it could be and she shooed my concern away with her hand and said it was probably just clay and sheā€™s fine! ā€œItā€™s no big deal! Pieces of clay from the oven break off and stick to the naan. It happens all the time!ā€ I still havenā€™t heard back from the owner after I called when her pain didnā€™t go away and she had trouble eating.
The furniture is also broken down - we had to switch tables so our drinks didnā€™t spill from a very wobbly table and both benches were so broken down we were sinking uncomfortably in them as if we might fall through and sliding to the middle against the other person. It was pretty filthy too, with leftovers beside us attracting flies for most our meal despite there being two servers on and only one other table for two that sat down much later than we did.
I also grew up on East Indian food at my best friendā€™s house, and while a lot of the reviews say their food is great, it is well below average if you are used to good, authentic East Indian.

I absolutely love JPs and everything they make. Quantity, price and flavour all go in harmony and tastes like heaven. It's fairly easy to find indian cuisine spots now in Calgary and surrounding area but it's very hard to find a legit spot that stands for that true unique Indian taste. Kudos and Cheers!

Iā€™ve been going to JPā€™s for about a month on a semiregular basis. Every single time Iā€™ve been astonished at how great the food is and how friendly the service is. The owner has been friendly and personable and shared great conversation with our group every time we went. Amazing restaurant, definitely would recommend.

My GO-TO for Chicken Tikka Masala!!!! THE. BEST. IN. TOWN. With rice and naan lol. Thatā€™s all I eat everytime I go there. I cannot pass on the tikka masala!!!! Iā€™m sure the rest of their menu is wonderful. Service is good, not bad when itā€™s packed. (Itā€™s full on Fridays and Saturdays so get there early.) I strongly recommend this place

Amazing Indian food. I had the chicken curry with the garlic naan bread and it was out of this world. Especially the naan bread. Service was very cheerful and welcoming. Took a little bit to get the food but it was well well worth it. Can't wait to come back!

Came here with my buddy the other day and wow was the food great! I have had Indian food at other restaurants and yes those other places have good food but JPs has that service and the friendly inviting atmosphere. I will definitely be coming down again with friends/family to try out the other items on the menu!

Don't trust their posts on Facebook! It's a scam. They said BOGO Free on April 20, but the server didn't know about it, had to call the restaurant manager and found out it was only buy one appetizer and get second one 50% off. Service was terrible. Sat down for 15 mins with no water served or server to take order. Service was super slow. Waited over 40 mins for food to come while we were the only table in the restaurant. I will not go there again and have already unliked their FB page. DO NOT TRUST WHAT YOU SEE ON THEIR PAGE!

Food for 9 in only $99
I planned birthday party for my Grandmother staying in senior homes right behind this Towne centre.
When I told the lady working there she gave me a really reasonable price for everything I ordered.
Food was enough for 9 adults & was given desserts on the house.
This is definitely one of the fanciest mom and pop outlet I have ever seen.
The cashier was white but pretty knowledgeable.
Will be coming back to Dine In next time.
Amazing food. Highly recommend the butter chicken. Although all dishes we've had are quite good. The smell from outside is enough to change your dinner plans.

Wife is Gujarati and we travel between London and Calgary a lot. Great authentic food that we are used too. What an amazing find can't believe we took so long to discover this.

Our daughter was little skeptical about trying Indian for the first time but they made her happy so I can say literally Best Indian food I had in this neighbourhood, my family is a huge fan.
Will keep coming back.

I have ordered now twice and have mixed reviews. The dinner we ordered was butter chicken, vegetable pakora, shaani paneer, veg samosa and basmati rice and naan. The order was supposed to be ready in 20-30 minutes but when my partner went to pick it up it took and hour. The food was good, we especially liked the pakora but the butter chicken and paneer was lacking good portions, very saucy little meat.

I went for a lunch special, it was $9.99 and was butter chicken with naan or rice. Thought it was odd that both rice and naan was not included but I got it anyway with naan. When I got home I was disappointed because the butter chicken had 5 tiny chunks drowning in sauce! Definitely not a good deal. There are enough other Indian places close by like Taramind (our fave!) taste of India and green chili. I don't know if I'll be back to this one.

Very good,

Butter chicken was excellent, so was the dal. Vindaloo was nice and spicy, and the naan was good. Palak was a little bland though....

Wanted to give this place a try, so we put an order for take out on Thursday at 6, was told it would be ready at 7. Waited until 810 for the food, a simple call back would have sufficed instead of having all your customers wait an hour.

This was on a 50% off promo day, I'm assuming to attract new customers however I think they need to also work on costumer service.

We ordered take out and we didn't enjoy the food. The butter chicken and lamb curry didn't taste fresh and the chili chicken tasted like ketchup. The naan was edible. Won't be eating here again.
