Review Juree's Thai Place Restaurant - Calgary

Prachi Dandekar
First time in Calgary and were looking for a good Thai place. Decided down on this based on the reviews. We made a last minute reservation 30 minutes before closing time and they were generous enough to accommodate us. Fell in love as soon as we entered. The ambience is lovely and well maintained! The staff is very friendly and you can ask them for suggestions from the menu. Make sure to specify the spice level while ordering. Food is delicious!!! Each dish comes with vegetable flower cutouts/decorations. The price might seem a bit high for some of the dishes, but the serving size is very generous. Would recommend to try the cassava cake and coconut ice cream for dessert.

I’ve never had authentic Thai food before, so I’m not sure if this place is legitimate or not. But I found that what I ordered here was delicious and flavourful. The peanut sauce that came with the stuff chicken wings were perfect and the texture of the meat and veggies with the curry was cooked to a nice level too. I found the spiciness level to be pretty accurate with my expectations and I would definitely come back again. The ambience and decor was really nice, there’s a lot of decor.

Loved the ambience in this restaurant! Came for the stuffed chicken wings but found the other items we ordered were much tastier. The beef and pork satay skewers were nice and juicy and the curry was flavourful (not spicy at “medium” though, so if you’re a spice lover, you may need to kick it up a notch). The wings, unfortunately, were a bit bland.

Had a good dining experience here. The staff was very friendly and the food delicious. Highlights were the stuffed chicken wings and the green curry beef. For the time being, reservations required for dine in.

Food was excellent. Service was slow to start. Once we got to order the, service was great. Each dish had its own flavour and we enjoyed it very much.

Best authentic Thai food for a good price! Customer service is excellent. Went for pick up and they have a drive thru for picking up! Order is placed in a sturdy cardboard box. Food tasted delicious even to go. Highly recommend the coconut rice for the curries.

Centrally located along 16th Ave with ample parking Jurees Thai Place offers authentic Thai Cuisine for the Calgary palate. Items are a trifle pricier then your neighborhood pub, but the portion sizes are generous, and did I mention scrumptious?! Approximately, $45 per hungry adult(including tip) should leave anyone stuffed and satisfied, which includes appetizers, mains and dessert! Anecdotally, I'm a heavy eater and came close to loosening my belt because the coconut rice and green curry combination was phenomenal. The final touch, though first thing you notice, is the ambiance. Some call it cluttered, I call it Thailand(if you've ever been, you'll concur). The decor transports you and let's you forget it's snowing outside, I can almost hear the tropical birds as I sip on a beer and enjoy some Tom Yum. To be clear, Jurees has managed to pack the decor but leave for a spacious dining experience! Honorable mention - the scents of Thai food cooking waft lightly through the restaurant, tantalizing the senses as you interact with pleasant staff making Jurees Thai a must visit when you have a hankering for authentic Thai Cuisine.😆

Stuffed wings are so good! Curries were decent, but I probably should have ordered them with more heat. Order was ready to pick up on time.

I have been here 3 times, and the first 2 times were amazing, but the last time (yesterday) the food came really fast., and everything was barely room temperature. We were there at 5pm, so it couldn't have been left over food? Even the coconut rice was luke warm. We called the waitress over & they heated it up. Flavor was great, and will give this place another chance before I recommend it again.

One of the best places to eat in Calgary, the food is amazing! All the staff are wonderful and so is the Thai dancing

This place is amazing! My tastebuds were pleasantly surprised with every dish. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, I will definitely be back!

Excellent - this is the best Thai food I have eaten anywhere in the world outside of Thailand

Honestly I'm really excited to go back! Best food, best service, beautiful atmosphere! I live far, but it'll be worth it! Go eat here!

I love this place. Very good food and good service.

By far the BEST pad Thai in Calgary. The staff are delightful, the service is impeccable and I really enjoy the atmosphere and decorations. Thank you for such an amazing experience!!

Juree's is one of the best Thai restaurants in Calgary and we eat there regularly. I ordered take out and unfortunately they were running about 15 minutes late with my order - this is not usually the case. However next time I will call ahead to ensure they are running on time. They also will do gluten-free and vegan where possible.

Best service and food ever except they just pushed me out by keep try to ask to pay the bills.
Angie Lachance
A favorite restaurant of mine in Calgary.. been numerous times and the food & service is always impeccable!!
Andrea Lockhart
Amazing food and atmosphere. The basil beef is delicious.

This place sucks! Their portions are so small dont go there if your hungry I paid $31.00 for a snack. I cant believe how tiny the dishes are. We used go here a lot and know that they have cheap right out now. Changing portion sizing and keeping prices the same is bull!! Not impressed at all.
J. Minzies
This is a well run, clean and hygenic Thai restsurant. They have operated here for years and offer a call in your order and pick up at take out window option now!! Nice!! Cant wait to go again

We shared the Pa-nang curry with prawns and yellow curry with chicken and coconut rice. They were delicious. The coconut rice was likely the best I’ve had (at least here!) Sooo good we joked about coming back later that day for dinner (we didn’t! But will be back soon!)
Kim
Delicious and authentic Thai food. Have never ate at the restaurant, only pick up order. Portions seem small when you first look, but usually have lots leftover after stuffing our faces on our favourite Thai dishes that remind us of our many trips to Thailand.

I have eaten here a few times, but the last time was, well...the last time. This is a curiously popular restaurant, despite the very small portions for the price and the lack of authenticity of the dishes. We were a larger group and ordered multiple dishes, and while some of the curry flavours were pleasant, nothing amongst the 13 or so dishes we ordered were remarkable. It was terribly disappointing and I would not recommend this restaurant.
Lauren Catharine Rivett
The inside of the restaurant is beautiful! This makes me want to come back but the food ..... wow even better! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone
Foodisgood421
Authentic Thai food. Good service. Love the cashew chicken although wish the quantity is more on that dish. The soups are nice and flavorful. Have had a few different curries and they are all flavorful and fresh. The pad Thai has nice texture, taste and quantity. I love the food here.. Especially the cashew chicken dish but just wished it came with more! Prices are average for a Thai place in Calgary. Most Thai places price their mains around $12 to $22
Julienne Liang
The dish is very small. And you pay for the "environment" but not the food. I went there few months ago just because the ranking here is high :(

I can't believe this place was on a list for best Thai in Calgary. Pad Thai was awful, flower dumpling while beautiful taste very doughy, the curry we ordered was suppose to be spicy, it wasn't at all, very small portions for the price, never even received our drinks, 2 beers and a soda. So dark we couldn't even read the menu I had to use my cell phone for lighting. Hard to believe it a burger king, but we won't be back. Service was terrible, it was busy when we first got there, but it emptied out quickly. They were sweeping the floors right beside us while we ate.. gross.
Camille Marii
Ordered the dinner for two with fresh spring rolls. The red curry was amazingly flavourful and we subbed in chicken instead of prawns in our mixed veggie dish. AH MAZ ING the restaurant is decorated extremely authentic and the waitresses wear really cute Thai outfits service was a bit slow but they were very busy so understandable. Leftovers were also tasty!! We will be back
Jonny
Can you believe that this place used to house a Burger King? Mind blown. Although now that I think about it, the outside does have the outline of a fast food joint. Anyways, I’ve heard good things about Juree’s Thai Place so one evening, I met up with K and her roomie to go for dinner. Hours are great. Open every day from 11:00am to 10:00pm.
ChefMe
I stopped in late in the noon hour for the lunch buffet. My first pass of the food was disappointing as the items were mostly empty from other diners loading up. Thankfully the stock was refilled soon and what I had was very good. I'm a Thai food lover and their offerings were just what I needed. I'll go back for an evening meal from the regular menu.
Mj_foodie
all the food we tried were all good. the pad thai and thai ice tea were the bomb. my husband don't usually try pad thai because it has coconut which his stomach doesn't like but when he tasted it, he finished 75% of what was on the plate. best part, his stomach didn't get upset. as for me, i'd say that the pad thai was pretty close to the one i tried in phuket thailand. also tried red, green and yellow curry were all good as well. all in all, i definitely recommend this place if you are craving for thai food. oh! and moreover, the place is easy to find as it is only along 16th ave.

The Thai food here is flavorful and the unique decor definitely adds to the dining experience. After the appetizers, we tried the Pa-nang curry with chicken and it went great with the coconut flavored rice along with Singha beer I ordered. Good and quick service as well.

Located on the west end of 16th avenue (you can’t miss it as it is a converted McDonald’s) – Juree’s transports you to the exotic once you walk in the door, from the wooden window shades to the faux bamboo placemats, veggie art and thai servingware you have to credit the owners for really committing to all things Thai. This is an excellent option for a date night as we were able to try some new dishes together. We ordered #24 Green Curry with Beef ($15) and a #33 Stirfry Chicken with Mixed Veg ($15) which were both very flavourful. The highlight was all things coconut – from the curries, to the rice, to the drinks! We ordered a tender spiked coconut bevy where you could actually spoon out the coconut flesh as a dessert! My hubby was on cloud nine.
Royfact
Not your typical Asian food experience. They go all out here to make the place look exotic and classy without going over the top. The menu is varied enough so that anyone should be able to find something to their taste. We had some spring rolls to start and they were hot, crispy and tasty - just as they should be. Both the Panang Curry (medium spicy ordered and still relatively mild, certainly not overpoweringly hot) and the Fried Chicken with Cashew are recommended. A couple of Thai Singha beers at $6 topped off our lunch. Great food, great atmosphere, reasonable prices and good service. This was a nice find.

So I recently went here on a date as a whim because I've heard people rave about the food here. The atmosphere was very interesting and definitely a particular theme in mind. It felt fancy though and I felt like perhaps this place might be too fancy for my usual. The food was amazing though and I could choose different levels of spice for my curry, coconut rice was suggested by the waitress and definitely went really well with the curry. I'll definitely return at some point.

A fun authentic ambience transports you to Thailand for the evening. The portions are generous, and the food is very flavorful. The curries and pad thai are all excellent.

ordered to go..i asked for garlic free onion free food.i chose vegetarian green curry..coconut rice and papaya salad. I was so good lots of flavor. Would have again forsure. My friends shared with me and we all loved it

Juree's makes you feel like you're in Thailand - from the lavish decor to the authentic (and delicious!) food. Everything I've tried here has been really good, making it one of my favourite thai restaurants in Calgary. The massaman curry is delicious, as is the green curry, and portions are always very generous. The staff are always very attentive too. Definitely check it out if you're in the mood for some great Thai food!

Very good taste!!!! Staff's friendly!!!! Quick service!!! Fish with garlic and sauce was really good!!! Rice noodles we ok!!! Overall experience was tasty!!!!

Came here on a friday night around 8 pm. We were seated quickly and the interior design is nice. Ordered green & red curry as well as pad thai. The pad thai looked really nice and tasted ok but the portion was rather small and there wasn't alot of shrimp. The curries tasted ok but the pork was overcooked and the curry was a bit too watery for my taste. The coconut rice was nice though.
Hangry In YYC
The restaurant is nicely decorated throughout with the waitresses in cultural clothing. They do have a tv that feels more like an ad for Thailand tourism but that's okay because we're really there for the food.

Ordered the:
-Papaya salad
-Pa-nang curry with chicken - flavor of the curry is delicious but the chicken was overcooked.
-Stir fried prawns with snow peas - it was a bit underwhelming and compared to all the other dishes we ordered, it was a bit unflavorful.
-Special fish (not numbered on the menu) - the sauce is sweet, the skin is still crispy but the fish was still moist inside. It was my parents' favorite dish of the night.
-Pad thai
-Coconut rice - delicious and for $6 for a large, you actually received a little rice bucket that was more than enough
-Sticky rice with mango
-Thai cassava cake
-Thai custard

All desserts came warm and not quite what I expected. The cassava cake tastes like the Chinese coconut tarts from the bakery but baked into brownie shapes and the custard is more like a glutinous rice flour patty. The sticky rice with mango is just like the description but I'm not sure if like warm mango.

Dining room decorated with bountiful Thai artifacts, posters, touristy video clips and silk flowers and plants.
Tried the dinner for four at medium heat. Colorfully appetizer plate arrived quickly full of deep fried goodies. All dishes were decorated with carrot flowers and lettuce garnish. Taste is fairly authentic, but the heat level is definitely tempered for the Calgary palette. Our medium heat was more like mild. All curries and stir fried dishes were sweetest than I preferred.
The dishes had lots of colourful veggies, but thin on meat slices. The curries were tasty but watery. The pad Thai had one shrimp.
Service was great on a very busy Sunday night. Very friendly and efficient service staff. Watching them remind me of traffic in Bangkok.
I would come back to try that a la carte dishes, but won't be in a hurry.

For sure one of the better Thai places I've been to. Lots and lots to choose from here. The Tom-Yum is authentically tasty and they'll make it really spicy if you like. The stuffed chicken wings appetizer are really incredible, spring rolls are good, curries are delicious, they even have a good massamon curry! I had a very tasty stir fry here once... There's such a large menu I couldn't hope to comment on all of it. Service is always very pleasant.

I’ve driven by Juree’s many times and always wondered what it was like inside. I’ve even contemplated coming over for an extended lunch break just to finally check it out. I finally did get to try it out on a Friday evening. It was busy inside, which was a good sign! We waited probably 5 minutes until we were seated.
Daniel
We ordered the appetizer combo, the penang beef curry, and the pad thai. We loved everything we ordered! The combo had calamari, satay skewers, spring rolls, and the most amazing stuffed chicken wings. The wings were delicious and stuffed with what tasted like a curry paste with meat. The pad Thai was sweet and savoury, and the penang curry was just the right amount of spice (we ordered spicy) and it was very fragrant. I'm definitely coming back

Juree's is one of my favorite thai places in Calgary. Atmosphere is very cute - like a tropical paradise. I've eaten here maybe 5 times over a couple years and it is consistently very good.

I went for lunch today and my party of three shared four dishes. We started with the thai fried pork spring rolls - these are pretty standard but very yummy. We shared the Pad thai, Red Curry with chicken and fried fish in sweet and sour sauce (all with mild heat per the preference of one member of our party.)

The pad thai was my favorite. Very flavorful sauce and all the goodies in it were cooked perfectly. You only get two prawns with the pad thai which is a bit disappointing but this is probably the best pad thai I've had in North America. The red curry was good - but would be better with more heat. And the fried fish was tasty too - although per my own ignorance I was unaware it came out as a whole fish. If you do not want to slice and debone your fish, I would not recommend this.

I really enjoy Juree's and will definitely come back. I look forward to trying more items from their massive menu!

The atmosphere here was way too cute. They have such a fun theme going on. Their food was good, we had tried some appies and mains but ultimately our starter was the best part of the meal. Maybe a close second was the fancy drink I ordered, served in the coconut (seriously get it). We got a variety plate starter and the stuffed wings were so amazing.
Christine
Ate here twice. First time promised myself I'd never go back. Second time, I was convinced by a friend that I tried the wrong things and should give juree's another chance. First time had the green curry, Tom yum and a basil chicken dish. Very lack lustre. Second time had the massaman curry, pad Thai, dumplings (shaped like flowers), and the stuffed chicken wings. The curry was too greasy. Pad Thai bland. The dumplings were good, but prettier than they tasted. The chicken wings... OMG I still think about them today. The only reason I would order from here is for the stuffed chicken wings. A must try. Everything else - forgettable.

This place has been a favourite of mine for several years now. The food is always delicious, served hot, and with fresh ingredients. The ambience in the restaurant is also something to note. Stepping into this restaurant is like stepping into another world, so eating here is always an interesting experience in addition to the food. The staff is friendly and attentive. The matsaman curry with beef, Thai dumplings, and the spicy beef salad are a few of my favourites. This restart is best suited for groups of around 4 I find because it gives you a chance to try more things without emptying your wallet. Definitely worth a try!

I've driven past Juree's Thai Place many times and finally came in for lunch the other day. I ordered the green curry with chicken, which was fantastic. It was jam packed with meat and veggies, making it perfect for 2 people. They also let you choose your level of spice from 1-5. 1 is perfect if you're not a huge fan of spice. AlThe coconut rice was a great pairing for the curry. Additionally, the service was great! We were check on periodically and our water glasses were never empty. The atmosphere of the restaurant is quite fun itself, as the entire restaurant is furnished with traditional Thai decor. Needless to say, I wish I had tried Juree's a long time ago. I will be back again.

Best Panang curry in town. The spicy noodles are top notch and the satay appetizer and toast are a fave. If you want SPICY options this is for you. Medium is spicy enough. Hot, be ready! Love this place for both done in and take out!

When you first walk in you experience a beautiful interior almost like you have entered a paradise. I have always been a big fan of ambience in restaurants. It make you feel like you are getting away from everyday stresses for that short period of time. This was accomplished here. In regards to the food, the curry dish I has was delicious, and the cocounut rice was a good contrast to the curry. I also ordered sweet and sour pork (maybe thia is my fault since it's a thai place) and the flavor was off to me. Overall though I want to visit again.

The decor is this place is so amazing, it's filled with so much neat decorations! The food is pretty standard and the service is always attentive. The Thai iced teas are to die for.

I really like this restaurant, and came again for date night on Friday. As always the food is delicious and service is friendly! Most times I order take-out, but once in a while we dine in. I enjoy and recommend the Satay Beef and Chicken appetizer, Fish With Garlic And Pepper Sauce, Squid With Basil, Seafood With Basil, Pa-nang Curry With Chicken and coconut rice. Delicious!
Fooby Walla
From the outside, this place looks unimpressive but the inside of the restaurant is densely and cozily decorated with themes of blue-green forest and just the right amount of lighting. It is mostly in good taste but there are a couple of tacky items.

The thai-hot tom yum goong is indeed very hot. I can see real authentic galangal root, keffir lime leaves and lemon grass in the soup. Unfortunately, I couldn't detect the fragrance of shrimp in the soup. The balance is off; it was overly salty and probably not sour enough. It seems to be lacking for a $9 serving. I should have known that I cannot expect too much shrimp flavour from a restaurant that offers tom yum with chicken or shrimp. My tastebuds give it a B-.

I next had the green curry chicken which was the right color and was nicely garnished with fresh thai basil. However it tasted... odd. It was much more salty and much less sweet than I expected. The aroma was right though. It contains coconut cream, bell peppers, japanese (not thai) eggplant, broccoli, carrot, peas and barely any chicken. Not entirely unpleasant but if I have other options I wouldn't order it again. There is a possibility that I came on an off-night but today my tastebuds give it a C-.

The staff are helpful and courteous. The restaurant is clean. The restaurant is fairly full at supper on a Monday. Many people here with dates.

If you see "lab chicken" on the menu, don't bring your PETA signs. I enquired with the waitress and she reassures that "lab" is the thai name of a type of salad.
Mauricio Munoz
Portions are really small. If you go there don't ask for shrimps they serve only 5-6 small shrimps. If you go for the buffet, get early (before 12:30) otherwise yo will be left with leftovers. The staff do not refill frequently the trails.
Karen
Terrible experience. Staff does not respect customers and are very discriminative. Our lady waiter asked me to cover up while I was breastfeeding my baby in a very rude manner like if I were doing something obscene!!!! She said Because I was in a public place. Really? Who can even think that this is nudity or Porn to feed a baby, I was not even showing my nipple. They are people with double moral. Won't be back since I felt my rights were violated there!

Excellent ambience, food, and service. I have been to Thailand three different times and this is the most authentic food I have found in the city for great value. We went in at 3:30 on in the afternoon and the room was quite busy. That says alot. Highly recommend this restaurant.
LT.
The food here is authentic and the ambience here feels tropical and traditional. I have been here a few times because of its convenience to my house. The food here is quite nice, though it can come out quite slow from time to time depending on how busy it is. The sizes here are a tad small so its also a little pricey in that sense. Overall, it has a few flaws but most importantly, the food here is always tasty & authentic coupled with a vibrant and one of a kind atmosphere. Plus - met the owner of the place, very lovely people here including the staff.

This is probably one of my favourite Thai places that i have tried to date. I still need to go to White elephant one day. We went here for a Christmas lunch and ordered: Chicken Wings Stuffed, Pad Thai and a rice pudding dessert. I really enjoyed the Chicken wings, something i have never tried before because they were stuffed. The pad thai was tasty, but nothing too special. The rice pudding was a good end to the meal. I want to go back to try more dishes, but each time we went they were full or was catering to a private party. Hopefully soon :)

I have been eating at Juree's for over 5 years. The food has always been great. Favourites are the stuffed chicken wings, prawn coconut soup and green curried beef with lemon grass. You can't go wrong eating here.

Juree's is our regular spot for Thai food - the quality of the food is always excellent, even if the restaurant itself can be a touch claustrophobic. The decor is pretty fantastic though, especially when you consider it used to be a burger king!

Don't bother coming here for the lunch buffet - you won't get their best quality unless you come for supper. My favourites are the thai dumplings, tom khaa kung soup, matsaman curry with beef, and the green curry with chicken.

Authentic, great service, delicious food!. I love this restaurant because of how authentic it is. Everything from the decor, to the waitresses, and the food. It's definitely worth a try!
I always get the curry when I come here and it's rich, full of flavour and the portions are more than enough.
It's always busy and I've never had problems with take out or dine in. You must eat here!!!

Uggg. Went here at about lunch time last April 23 or 24. Ugg, have loved this place but that day, red curry was too oily, very little beef, our tamarind fish became very small. About 2/3 of the size we usually get and the red curry is not hot at all, it tasted mild while we ordered hot and the service was slow. Felt like it was not worth it. The time before that we came, we had problem with the curry.now, it's both the fish and curry. Was not worth it

Simply amazing & authentic! I haven't had such fabulous Thai food since I was in Thailand. They actually have green curry!! And the floral dumplings are a delicious work of art. ALSO, out waiter was one of the best servers I've ever had. All around...a hidden NW gem. Can't wait to return!!
Megan_watters
Hit & Miss. First of all the service was sadly lacking. Granted, it was a busy Friday night, but there were enough servers to handle the business. They were not friendly or welcoming, and it seemed like they were doing us a favour by taking our order. It took a good 20 minute for the appetizers (Pink Lady & Spring rolls; both tasty), and half an hour between the appetizer being taken away and the main course being delivered. I had the panang curry with chicken, and while the sauce was tasty and flavourful, it was very heavy on the peppers and very light on the chicken. My friend had the rice noodles with chicken; the overcooked noodles were floating in a sea of sweet flavourless brown sauce, and again, very little chicken. Overall, not a restaurant I would visit again.

Terrible. Worst Thai food that I have ever had. Went there a year or so ago and it was forgettable. Based on tonight, it has declined significantly in the meantime. Both the red curry and the green curry sauces were completely broken with oil swimming on the surface. The red curry was prawns and it tasted like a fish had died in the curry. We have fish sauce at home and use it all the time but this was very unpleasant. The pad thai was seriously overcooked and clumped together without any real flavour. They can't even cook rice right. Our coconut rice was way overcooked and totally clumped together. It was like our 4 year old was at the stove and boiling rice until it died. For over $60 it was a total crime to serve this food. Never again.

A lot for a good price. I went there on Friday this place has amazing food and is reasonably priced.

REALLY Calgary..... I'm shocked at the amount of positive reviews regarding this place.

This has to be the worst Thai restaurant that ive been to, absolutely disgusting!

I couldnt even eat the Red Curry dish im sure it had about 1/2 cup of fish sauce in it or there was something rotten in it

The chicken dish tasted like a very bad chili dish.....

There goes 1.5 hours of my life that i can never go back

Im starting to wonder about reviewers on here given the amount of positive reviews about this place, really?! you call this good Thai food?!!!!

Fave restaurant in Calgary. Awesome ambience for a date. Food portions just need to increase. Bad exterior but best, perfect interior.
Angie
The food was delicious (had red curry with chicken and coconut rice) but the service a little lacking. There was one waitress who was running around by herself. Would try it again but maybe not at lunch time

Small portions big prices. Used to be a frequent diner at Juree's. However over the years the portions have become smaller and the prices have increased. We are now frequent diners of Delicious Thai in Kensington. I agree the food is great but way too skimpy on the product. For example vegetable dishes are filled with only peppers and hardly anything else. delicious thai is fantastic. Sorry, Juree just feeling ripped off lately....

I just had the best Thai meal that I have ever eaten. Red Curry with Prawn was fantastic. Great favour. Crisp veggies. Awesome service!!!! I would recommend this restaurant over and over again!!!
Heidi
Delectable!. Lovely service, delicious food. The set-up is very cozy and surrounded by candles and plants! The TV's are a bit distracting but promotes beautiful Thailand. I love the details that are in the restaurant, the offerings they give at their altar, it's spellbinding. The food absolutely divine, everything is fresh and looks fantastic. Definitely, one of my favourite places to go!

Delicious!. We love eating at Juree's. The servers are always really nice and the food has always been delicious. The Massaman curry is the best! I would eat there every week if I could.

I had THEE WORST experience here in my entire life from this place. We came from out of town and saw it had a high rating and decided to give it a shot. After picking up our order and returning to the hotel room we noticed that all 3 things we ordered were wrong. We called back asking politely for them to fix it. And they tried for 10 minutes to convince us we were wrong. They then finally agreeded to come to our hotel room and 'look at our order first' in order to make the correction. They then came to the door told us we were wrong again and left in a huff and slammed the door in my face. I HIGHLY recommend never ever coming here it was by far the worst food and service I have received in my entire life. HORRIBLE.

Authentic Clothes, Great Food, and a Bar. The family combo meal is like your own private buffet.

Best Thai restaurant in Calgary. I love this place! The spicy noodle dish with prawns is my favourite. The red curry, coconut rice and all their soups are delicious! I recommend this place to everyone!

Our favourite Thai. Terrific atmosphere, great staff, awesome food, good prices. Don't let the strip mall facade fool you. If only more Calgary restaurants had such great value as this one.

We made a reservation for Father's Day the night before, but when we arrived our reservation was no where to be seen. Not only was no apology, the manager tried to place blame on another employee, and did not even try to accommodate us in any way. We will never be returning to this restaurant.

Busy night but staff friendly and efficent. Tasty pad thai, coconut milk soup, red curry. Great food.

Acceptable. For lunch, ordered Pad Thai, spicy squid, and coconut rice. Service was acceptable, as restaurant was almost full with a lunch group. Portions on the small side for the pricing. Dishes were flavourful. We were seated on a "stage" which made it really uncomfortable.

Every time I've been here I've had amazing service and the most incredible delicious Thai food I've ever had here in Calgary. The servers are so lovely in their outfits and extremely friendly, always checking if dishes need to be cleared. It is situated behind a motel so you might see hookers in the parking lot once in a while but that shouldn't deter anyone from eating here.

Slow service, it was a Friday evening and peak time but 40+ minutes for dinner was too long. Servers we're not very helpful.

Decent. Went with a group of 6 and ordered quite a few dishes to share:
Tom Kha Gai (coconut chicken soup): good but prefer a bit more coconut flavour.
Papaya salad: good
Red curry chicken: good
Basa in tamarind sauce: best dish of the night, super delicious with no bone!
Seafood stirfry: good, fishballs in this one which is a nice surprise
Chicken pad thai noodles: don't like it this way, too wet and only taste ok
Coconut rice (to go with meal): good but a bit too sweet, taste a bit like dessert
Thai casava cake (dessert): lots of coconut flakes in here...I don't like but my friends like
Thai caramel (dessert): surprising texture that I don't like
Coconut icecream (dessert for the children): they like it!
Price: Medium High...$30 per person which is acceptable
Service: very attentive given that the place was full
Selection on menu: not the most extensive, we can't find our favourite dishes such as Thai eggplant and duck curry.
Seating: a bit crowded but we got tugged in to a table in the corner by the window.
Overall: good but still prefer Thai Bistro

LOVES IT!. This is by far one of my most favourite places to eat. From BC / ON /NWT I'm a fat guy and I like to eat. This place is incredible and it hurts me to hear that a few people have had a bad experience. I have been in the back of the kitchen many times and know that this is an extremely clean place. The food is incredible and prices are more than fair. I strongly recommend people try it out. I was just at a resort in Nha Trang and the food there was incredible, this is on the same par. The fact that it used to be a Burger king should make no difference, the food is great, place looks amazing, service is great, and the owner is almost always there. Try it out!

Great food and portion size!

Solid Thai restaurant. Good food (but not the best), fair prices, good service, and a nice setting.
FoodInMyTummy
100% Disappointed. Walking in, the decor, music and atmosphere was nice, but the moment we met the server, it just went downhill. She talked in the most condescending tone and seemed extremely put off by the fact that she actually had to serve customers. Almost had a frown the entire duration of our stay. The food was mediocre at best (and that's being generous). We went here for the dumplings but they tasted stale, cold, and crumbly...not so sure it's supposed to taste like that... The coconut rice was the highlight of the meal; one of the best I've had. Overall, would not be back. Do not suggest this restaurant to anyone.

Cheap ingredients and a very poorly designed menu makes for a mediocre experience.

Most authentic Thai food in Calgary. This restaurant serves the best and most authentic Thai food in Calgary. Great atmosphere, excellent authentically dressed servers and great flavors.. Juree is always there so say hello!

Good food, terrible service! I went with a group of 5 people, we were in a bit of a hurry to make a movie after dinner but made it early when the restaurant was empty. It took at least 10 minutes for the waitress to come to to the table to take our order, some of us ordered soup and salad and some the curries. We asked for it to all come out at once but they brought one meal at a time, randomly every 20 minutes someone would get their meal. Taking turns watching each other eat? No thanks! The waitress was impossible to even flag down to ask where the other food was. Won't be back.

Been here four or five times and each time is better than the last. Great, flavourful food and reasonably priced compares to other Thai places. This place is becoming one of our staples!

Fantastic. If you don't know what it should taste like ....trust me ....Juree's
is bang on.I worked and ate with Thais for 9 years and know the food.....I cook the food ..but can't do it as well as Juree's .Thai Sion and Juree's are without question the best Thai in the city.

I could eat here every day. I'm in love with their cashew fried chicken!! Food is fresh, tasty, and well plated. Service is great! And the decorations and atmosphere is just a cherry on top. Great for a family lunch/dinner.

One of my favorites in YYC!!!. I am entirely baffled by some of the harshly critical reviews of this restaurant, and have concluded that it is either a competitor, or someone who had a bad one-off experience. I have been numerous times over the past year, and my meals have always been consistently excellent.

The food is always freshly prepared (i.e. not pre-prepared sitting in a warming bin somewhere). The veggies are superior quality (i.e. no having to pick off icky bits), and the food is wonderfully presented with beautifully carved veggies on the side.

Its a "fancy-looking" restaurant at first glance, but it is very humble at its core.

The prices are entirely reasonable, and I never go over a few weeks without paying a visit.

I don't think it's really meant to be a take-out kind of place, as it would detract from the setting, presentation, and freshness of the food.

I have never had an issue with service, but that's also because I'm a human who realizes that when the place is packed to the ceiling with patrons.....they will be a bit slower. Also, it is a traditional Thai restaurant, so I think it's ridiculous to expect the North American "tip-mongering" style of service.
I prefer to eat in peace without being hassled every minutes, but that's just me, and why I eat at a place like Juree's rather than some franchise.

Highly recommend!

Excellent in all respects. Upscale, tropical style decor, and the wait staff were very classily dressed. The food was spectacular in taste, and served very attractively... you could almost call it art! Will definitely be returning soon!

Poor Service. Our third time eating at the restaurant and it seems that customer service is always poor. Although the service staff is nicely dressed, they do lack professional training, poor table settings, and after you get your food they tend to disappear. I had a hard time leaving them a tip! the food was average, would not go back again and would not recommend to friends.

Ordered dinner for two (spicy). Incredible. So delicious. Fresh. Tasty sauces. Beautiful decor and ambience. Waitresses wore traditional Thai clothing. Highly recommended.

Good Food. I ordered for lunch, a Pad Thai and Thai Dumplings to share with my friend. We thought the Pad Thai wasn't spicy enough at first, but then asked for some crushed chilli and it turned out perfect. I didn't know what Thai Dumplings were until I saw these, which looked very pretty. Although it wasn't my cup of tea, it was still a good experience!

Do not recommend.... I have had Juree's Thai on my list of restaurants to visit, so figured after a 13 mile run this would be a great treat! I got Spicy Prawn Noodles and Green Vegetable Curry in medium/spicy for take out. I was sadly very disappointed in the food. The Green Vegetable Curry had a layer of oil on top (almost 5 tablespoons worth) that I had to discard and then used a paper towel to soak up the rest of the oil. The Noodles were ok, the quality of vegetables were good at least. For the price of the dish, I expected a better quality prawn - essentially tiny shrimp. The dining atmosphere seems nice but maybe because it's dim in there you don't notice all the oil in the dish or it's mixed in so well? The dish was not really spicy at all, I've had better Thai curry dishes with more flavor. I do not plan on going back to this restaurant as the quality and price do not match up and amount of oil that I found in the Curry dish was disgusting.

I love the food here it's so fresh, delicious and flavorful. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and it makes a great experience! Just tried the buffet for the first time it was delicious and well priced!

What is going on?. Recently I have been watching this webpage with great interest. It seems strange that such widely divergent comments can be used to describe the food served in this restaurant. I have been a longtime patron of Juree’s restaurant and in that time I have never had a meal that I would judge less than satisfactory with most being very good. Having lived and worked for several years around south-east Asia, I know this food is very representative of the food served in Thailand. There have been times however when the dishes have not been quite as spicy as I would have expected but I have put that down to that process of de-spicing ethnic dishes due to the constant comments from the local residences commenting on how spicy a dish is. At times like that I do as the people in Thailand do; I order some crushed chilies on the side and mix them in. I had the chance one day to ask Juree why there have been these very derogatory comments made at this website. She commented that she has had in the past some competitors using websites to try to affect her business in negative ways. I guess it comes from the old adage that competitors always go for the one at the top. It is for this reason that I would suggest to readers who use websites to evaluate restaurants before trying them, is to use a method scientists use to evaluate a large array of data. Eliminate one or two data points at the extreme end of the array. In other words, ignore one or two of the worst comments and one or two of the best comments and then work with the comments that are left. It will probably give you a better idea of what an average comment would be.

This place is really "meh" to me. Not terrible but certainly nothing great about it either. I found the pad Thai pretty bland. Probably won't be back.... Only tried it on a whim as the place I usually get Thai is closed on Sundays.
Foodie88
I decided to try this place out as my options are limited on Sundays.
I will say that it wasn't bad, but I wouldn't say it's good either. Several ingredients served that really aren't supposed to be in an authentic dish.
6 out of 10 at best, but it will have to do for my Sunday night Thai cravings.

Salty!. Do you enjoy the taste of salt so much that you can;t taste anything else? If so, this is the place for you! I love thai food because of the flavours of the herbs and spices in the food but all I could taste was salt....shame. I'm still slugging back water.

I prefer. Thai-express at food court!
nothing special in this restaurant.

One of my Fave's. I go to Juree's for the lunch buffet with my grandma and I really like it. As a vegan, I can find enough to feel full and the servers are always sweet to us.
The decor is pleasing and the meal is fast and plentiful. It's not a swanky place but I haven't been disappointed on any of our trips. Totally worth the lunch buffet or take-out :).

Awful. Truly awful.. My first experience eating at Juree's restaurant was a colossal disappointment! My family had been excited to try the food there since it opened. We ordered take-out and the food was cold, the noodles were dry, the spring rolls and pink lady's were soggy (not to mention tiny), and the sticky rice was inedible. We paid $54 for a meal that we could barely eat. The appetizers and rice were thrown away.

Do yourself a favour, go somewhere else for Thai. Trust me, not worth it.

Good portion. I ordered pad Thai. Was the worst and most UN authentic bland pad Thai I've ever had.

Excellent food, nothing bad to report. The coconut rice was awesome

Just okay. I've been eating Thai Food for about 35 years, and in Vancouver, there are several fantastic Thai restaurants so I consider myself a connoisseur. Was really looking forward to trying out the restaurant because it's in my neighbourhood.

Went for lunch with a friend not long after it opened. Forget what we ordered, but it would have been the pad thai, a curry dish and rice. Unremarkable, all told. And I consider the prices ($15 per entree) to be too high for what we got.

Went again with a co-worker several months later and was more disappointed this time. The curries are bland, bland, bland.

There's also never anybody in there and I think I know why.

Don't waste your money.

Wonderful food. For five months this year I ate sumptuously from Juree's while going through weekly chemo. Without fail, they made it very mild with no chilies. It was the one cuisine I could eat that was not affected by the chemo - the taste remained true. Thank you Juree for keeping my husband and I fed like royalty over so many successive weekends!

Doesnt like it. Food was fine but service needs improvement. I was there with kids and when i asked for a menu, the lady server told me to go grab menu by myself and pointed where it was. I had to find her every time we needed to ordered something as she was never closed by and never asked how the meal was. No smile no hospitality and no service. Things started to get a little better though when the owner showed up at work later.
