Next door and apparently affiliated is a teenie tiny bar. Maybe 20 seats. Fun. Wine and whiskey bar. Was highly recommend to me. Bar Anna Belle
Love the vibe and the caviar
The food here is delicious ! We came with a table of 7 and all enjoyed our meals! The mains are delicious we each tried bites of everyone’s food my favorite was the trout. Appetizers were standard nothing too special, we weren’t keen on the tartare it seemed to be lacking some flavours. Wine was good, drinks were made nicely. The owner or manager was very helpful and courteous as our main waiter was a little less helpful. Overall it was great, if you want to spend a little extra and have a nice meal I would recommend going.
Absolutely fantastic. Every meal we have had here has been top notch and the service is always fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the duck on our last visit. It was moist and perfectly cooked.
had the tuna tartar & the crab salad and both were fantastic! the space is well decorated and well lit. For a saturday night at 7pm; it wasn't too crowded; which was nice! The service was pleasant!
I had the beef and is awesome. The vegetables have their magic too. Went tonight and have the right amount of light. Kind of quiet. Romantic. Love it.
Great service and absolutely delicious! We had the salmon app, the pork shoulder, and the halibut. All were excellently prepared and served beautifully. Oh and we enjoyed their signature drinks as well. I had "a clockwork orange! Delish!
Another work dinner. Two in a week. I thought, okay, here comes another bland expensive fish plate, but I was wrong. I had parsnip soup first, delicious, and halibut after, off the menu. Both really good. The wine was also good, and one of my colleagues knows wine. All in all, a good experience.
Cool, chic, and classy, this is by far my favourite restaurant in Calgary. Blink was where I lost my cheese soufflé virginity...and boy am I glad I waited. Service is top notch, and sitting at the dessert bar transports me to the most sophisticated of cities. Can't wait for my next visit!
Delicious food, fantastic service, and lovely ambiance. We couldn't have asked for more on our night out. Not much else to say! We will be back when we feel like indulging.
I have already been there a couple of times...and can't wait the next time. I just went there for a lunch and had a very good time. To me, the parfait (foie gras) was just perfect. I do not have many place who is able to offer a duck confit like that, almost felt I was back in south west of France!
On top of that the wine list is made by one of the most knowledgeable wine lover of the city! Moreover, the staff is incredible, it is pretty rare that I remember first names of waitresses, but Marc Andre and Delphine have been perfect and helped us perfectly to enjoy the moment.
Had a great business lunch today. The restaurant is located on Stephens Ave, you do need to look for it as there is not much frontage space. Mushroom soup was the appetizer, drinks were tasty and they have an extensive wine menu. I had the beef fettuccine, while my colleagues had the duck confit and char. We all agreed the meals were great. Dessert was the salted caramel tart, which was very unique and delicious. Not too busy or loud for lunch, quiet enough that you can have a conversation. Service was attentive but not over bearing. Would definitely go back.
Great for a business dinner. Four of us ate here and we all enjoyed it. Very friendly staff. A beautiful long room with exposed brick and sandstone. Everyone I was with enjoyed their meals. Not cheap by any means, but a good experience for a business meal or a special occasion such as an anniversary.
It was in my top 3 but on are second time around the owner her self help us with are wine choice her knowledge of wine was the best I have ever experienced and she provided us with a bottle that was amazing I've always loved when owners of restaurants take pride in the business and there ever changing menu keeps it a fresh new delicious experience every time although she needs to bring back the quail it was beyond amazing its tuff to hold number one restaurant in my book but this one has my top spot very recommended 😊!!!
One of my favorite restaurants in Calgary. Food and service is exceptional. They have really good wine selection. The food taste gourmet and well presented. I am really sad that they took the beef tartare out of their menu. It was amazing.
Love Blink, my husband and I enjoyed a great bottle of red wine at the recommendation of our knowledgable server.
I cannot wait to go back to eat the Carpaccio again, loved the mushroom soup too.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at blink last night. We sat on the patio, ordered a glass of sparkling wine and enjoyed some people watching, always enjoyable. The sea scallop tartare was amazing, I cannot recommend this dish highly enough. We ordered a bottle of Rose, a Grenache varietal I believe, outstanding. For entrees I had the rabbit it was the special, wrapped in prosciutto with asparagus and paired with polenta, all pieces were of this dish were absolutely delicious. To finish off we ordered the lemon tart and it was excellent. The service was very good, the owner Leslie also visited the table. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in a beautiful setting.
I have been to Blink quite a few times and for Big Taste.
Recently I came for dinner, and i haven't been to Blink for awhile.
My boyfriend made reservations for us, so we had a table ready. It does get busy on some evenings, especially weekends.
Service was good and we didn't have to wait.
One of my favourite dishes was their Arctic Char, but they didn't have it this time as they always change their menu and what is being served.
I ordered the Halibut and my boyfriend got the Ravioli
Both dishes were really good. My boyfriend LOVED the Ravioli, it was super tasty with a hint of truffle as well.
The halibut was really fresh and tasty as well. I enjoyed the frothy soup base the halibut was placed in.
Overall, the meals were tasty.
My co-workers and I went here for lunch on a Monday. There were 9 of us so it was nice that they put us in the small room at the back. The room is a tad squishy; the servers had to shimmy between our chairs and the wall, but it worked. The table just needs to be 6 inches smaller all the way around… but, oh well. The restaurant is a bit loud as noted by all of us, so it was nice to be in the room.
Delicious for a rich b*tch.. I love going for a nice sit down lunch at Blink with friends. The atmosphere is beautiful, I’ve always had great service, and it’s not too loud or crowded.
I enjoyed lunch here last week. I had the mixed green leaf salad to start. It was fresh and beautifully dressed. For a main course, I had the confit of duck, which was absolutely phenomenal. Crispy skin, wonderfully moist and flavorful, this dish was the star of the meal. For dessert, I had the ricotta cheesecake, and it was the perfect lemony harmony.
Overall, every bite I’ve had at this restaurant has been amazing. My only criticism is that the prices are a touch steep. So don’t go here if you’re feeling cheap.
Nice ambience, good food. Went for dinner on a Saturday evening and it was busy but not full. Nice ambience and quiet enough for conversations. The food was good. I had the aged cheddar soufflé, topped with a salad with walnuts. It was very good...light with just the right amount of cheese flavour. My husband had the artichoke soup which was flavourful and creamy. For mains, I opted for the braised veal OSso bucco ( with risotto and a green leafy veggie). The meat was tender, with just the right amount of fat (I love fatty meat!). Hubby had the special, a braised lamb shoulder with a winter vegetable broth of some sort. The piece of lamb was really small and looked a bit sad. We are not big eaters so it did fill my husband, especially after an appe and bread. Most men I think would have needed a more substantive serving! The meat was extremely tender and hubby liked it. Did not have room for dessert which was a pity ...next time, perhaps. Our server was very polite and quiet/non intrusive, not friendly/ warm, but very polite, and we did not have any issues. All in all, a good evening.
Inventive food/great service. The arugula salad was fantastic with Okanagan apricots that melted in your mouth! The risotto was creamy and delicious. The fried zucchini blossoms were tender and tasty although either the Dungeness crab was not as fresh as we are used to or perhaps we aren't used to the taste of crab that has been fried - usually we steam it. Our waiter was especially attentive, informative and friendly.
Just as expected.. I'm always so satisfied when I come here. Everything from the spot on seasoning and flavors on locally focused items to the killer service, Blink is consistently one of my favorite spots to eat in Calgary.
Pre-theatre dinner. We got to the restaurant a little late for the reservation....no problem. We informed the server that we had theatre tickets for 7:30 ...no problem. Ordered a main - trout for my friend, lamb for me and both were delicious! So quick to come to the table that we had time for dessert and tea. We split the lemon cheesecake and regretted the decision. So yummy, we fought to the last bite!
We will be back!
Went for Lunch for the Big Taste. The Lunch Menu during Big Taste was 3 courses for $25. I went on Monday March 10. This is what I had:
Field mushroom soup with torn bread, chives and Villa Cafaggio olive oil - It was excellent - Exactly what I was hoping for! Only downside is that to order this on any other day it's $10 a bowl... boo.
Roast fillet of Arctic Char with organic 1 year aged risotto, Jerusalem artichoke and balsamic cream - Meh...The fish was done well but didn't have much for seasoning. The risotto was kind of blah. I'm surprised people have said it's the best in the city. I wouldn't order the dish again as I'd look for more flavours next time.
Warm sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce - Quite enjoyable...
The ambience is quite nice - it really is a nice restaurant. I'd like to try it again.
Delicious. Blink offers a really lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Yes, it can be considered pricey, but Blink offers such a unique culinary experience with such quality ingredients that anyone would agree; you get what you pay for.
I enjoyed a three course meal with my friend and we had a wonderful experience with the service! Our waiter was so knowledgable and attentive (in fairness, we were one of his only tables at the time) that we felt educated on the dishes and well attended to at all times.
Outstanding!. Really a great experience - excellent food (well prepared, great blend of flavors), good service. Will come again.
The couple next to me said it is their favorite restaurant in town and they come at least once a month (for whatever that's worth).
Slightly Overpriced - Great Food, Good Ideas. We recently went and sat at the bar for dinner.
Had a hard time deciding with more than a couple great menu choices.
Quality ingredients, the staff knows where the protiens come from, and could answer any questions we had..even the bartender. Great 'local' options.
Salmon appy seemed skimpy for the price. Not much meat at all.
Went for the rabbit dish which was incredible. Perfectly balanced flavors and choices. Comforting, tasty, and not too heavy at all. Highly recomented.
Some items seemed like they were $2 - $4 more than they should have been, which doens't seem like much but adds up. Stay away from the single glass malbec wine option...even a "steal" at $9, it needs to be switched out, it's quite flat and pointless.
Otherwise, great meal, friendly fun staff, no pretentiousness, which can be quite common in 'hip' eateries.
Would go back in a heartbeat and spend another 20 minutes tyring to figure out what I want to try next.
Blink - A flash of flair and freshness!
It was my birthday this week, so decided to try Blink Restaurant on 8th Avenue. And what a delightful surprise and gratifying experience! The restaurant resonates with local recognition and accolades and so it was with a certain degree of scepticism that I decided to book a table for two.
The restaurant is situated in an old and historic downtown building with its interior brickwork beautifully restored. The contemporary interior design and furniture complements the modernization of the old building elements and creates a wonderfully stylish and vibrant atmosphere. It is by no means a “quiet” restaurant and I would not suggest that this be used for a romantic liaison. Go somewhere else for that. With the hard surfaces on the walls, floors and ceilings, the place gets noisier and noisier as more people arrived.
The place was alive and people were enjoying themselves at their tables in animated and pleasurable conversation. The space vibrated and reverberated with a joie de vivre, so sadly lacking in many other similar establishments around town. Some guests may not like this, but I do, for my particular kind of celebratory occasion.
The food and service was exceptional. They emphasise sourcing of local fresh produce and products and it shows in the meals placed before you. Skillful cooking, impressive presentation flair, and of course, attentive and knowledgeable service. I’ve bitched many times before about our younger generation of restaurant owners and chefs not knowing the difference between service and HOSPITALITY....I’m pleased to say, that these folks get it!
The twice baked aged cheddar soufflé with braised leeks, scaled cream, walnuts and frisee was my starter, and was beyond superb. Would “exquisite” be a more appropriate description? My mains comprised the roast sea scallops and crispy Berkshire pork belly, with butternut squash, rainbow chard, honey, maple, and splashes of bourbon mustard. If was a born Calgarian and not a transplanted Cowboy, I would have licked the plate as well. But fine dining insists on maintaining a decorum of etiquette.
Now interestingly enough, my wife ordered the braised lamb, which looked marvelous, and she tells me that it was wonderfully tender, however, she was disappointed by the lack of sufficient seasoning. She felt that the meat and braised sauce was tasteless. I would never argue with her when it comes to taste and seasoning! So unfortunately, the lack of sufficient seasoning by the chef (and I have no doubt that the Chef will argue that it was seasoned sufficiently – although if he is British, bland roast and meat is considered very palatable) resulted in my wife being less than impressed with the lamb.
They also have a superb collection of wines and a great selection of champagne and sparkling wine choices.
Blink is a super, sassy and superior restaurant and rates on an international scale. However, while they deserve to get a five star rating, I feel that their limited menu choices, sadly inhibit that top level of international distinction.
This place was great! We ca.... This place was great!
We came on a Tuesday night so it was pretty quiet. The server was attentive without being overbearing and explained things perfectly when I asked a few questions about the menu. She also made me a fabulous mocktail as I'm pregnant and can't have alcohol.
The food was spectacular!! We shared the crab soufflé and it was so cheesy and delicious, I could of eaten 5 of them but it was perfect to share.
I ordered a striped bass with gnocchi, the mushroom sauce was to die for and the homemade gnocchi melted in my mouth. The fish was cooked to perfection and the crispy skin was yummy.
My partner ordered the beef tenderloin. I can honestly say its the best I've ever tasted. We both were in heaven with this and I stole quite a few bites of his. The sauce and garnish was all great for the beef and it was cooked just right (we ordered medium rare)
We also had some coffee and desserts. This is what let the meal down a little. Coffee was great but the dessert were not excellent.
I ordered the molten chocolate cake which was nice but no where near rich enough for a molten chocolate cake. It came with a coffee bean ice cream which, to me, had a strange taste and want enjoyable or a good match for the cake.
My partner ordered the English sticky toffee pudding, this tasted strange also. The serving was generous but not tasty. I was born and raised in England so I know my sticky toffee puddings and this wasn't a good one.
So minus the dessert, the food was absolutely incredible as was the service. Nice ambience in the restaurant and is definitely recommend this to friends and go back again.
Amazing food, great service, excellent wine selection and very accommodating to my little one! Love this restaurant. Everything is good! And I've been here several times! Best in Calgary!
Blink has a small patio but a beautiful view of Stephen Ave. Came here for the first time with some girlfriends, the menu wasn't too pricey but a little more than the average. Worth every penny. We got a bottle of Riesling, which was fantastic. Both soups were amazing and pretty hearty for being purées. We tried the tuna, the beef carpaccio and the asparagus. All three were perfection. The cocktails are amazing though these were a little on the expensive side. We ended up moving inside because of the weather, this place is WAY bigger than it seems. They've got an amazing wine rack (and selection!) and the service was absolutely outstanding. We were fully taken care of. I'll definitely be returning here!
Pleasantly surprised. Looked like small portions but ended up being the perfect amount. Duck was great.
Excellent food, service and decor. I will definitely return next time I'm in Calgary.
Eat slow and savour. The food I got here was delicious. Granted, the portion size was not big at all, but Blink isn't about stuffing yourself. The risotto was cooked to perfection and the fish was so tender and juicy that it needed to be eaten slowly to be appreciated. Our server was very knowledgeable and helped us choose a really good wine to go with the meal.
If you want to go for an experience, and not just a meal, make sure you go here and eat slow.
Outstanding - Delicious!!. I had lunch at Blink and was very pleased with my meal and the service. The food was outstanding. I had the duck with a side of mac and cheese. The duck was tender tasty and crispy on the outside, with a delicious reduction serve on a bed of cooked cabbage and pureed rosotto. Yumm Yumm. The service was pleasant and prompt, not intrusive or overbearing. Highly recommend.
Fantastic Service & Super Tasty. Service, atmosphere, wine selection & most importantly the food was fantastic. I highly suggest the carpaccio, lamb, lava cake & especially a bottle of Paisajes. Phenomenal. A must in Calgary.
I celebrated my birthday here with friends and was very happy with our experience. We were seated immediately upon arriving at the restaurant and offered water. The server was kind enough to mention that they can make their cocktails without alcohol knowing that I was pregnant. I ordered the twice baked cheese souffle for my appetizer and was very pleased. It was light yet cheesy and buttery. I had the braised short rib as the main entree. It was braised perfectly and melt in your mouth tender. I also ordered the grizzly Gouda Mac and cheese as a side. It was very creamy, cheesy and rich. Although I did not find that it was worth the $8 price tag as the portion was quite small. Lastly I ordered the Meyer lemon tart for dessert since I love lemon anything and was very happy with my choice. I liked that they bruleed the top so it was slightly caramelized and crunchy. Overall, great service and great tasting food. I would definitely return. I also loved the meyer lemon soap and hand lotion in their washroom!
Nice restaurant, great food and atmosphere!. I found myself here with two friends tonight celebrating one of their Birthdays. We arrived for our 6:00pm reservation with the restaurant starting to fill up. We walked in and was greeted by a smiley host, who then took us to our table and our waiter arrived very shortly after taking our drink orders. Not long after that menus arrived, and we were given sufficient time to decide on our food.
Our complimentary bread and butter arrived first. There were two types of bread - a french bread and a multigrain like bread. I thought the multigrain was much better with different seeds in between! Our appetizers then arrived - I had the albacore tartare served with their in house made chips. The chips were made well - crispy and not too salty. The tartare was cubed nicely and the beets were cooked to the same softness. I did find the ponzu sauce quite mild and wished there was more flavor to it. My friend had the cheese souffle and it was so cheesy, but not too rich!
Mains next. I've never had rabbit before and decided to be adventurous tonight. It was done very nicely - tender, not gamey and just the right amount of flavor. The mustard sauce that accompanied it was a good choice. The root vegetables were cooked perfectly - not too soft or hard. I did find the polenta a bit bland but the texture was quite soft and creamy. My friend's braised short rib was so tender, like fall off the bone tender! The pork belly tasted more like bacon - not the soft, fatty kind I was looking for. My other friend's beef tenderloin was also very tender (she had asked for rare) - cooked very nicely. Next, our sides. My salad was just that - tossed in a vinaigrette. For the price I wished there was a bit more. The three times cooked fries were surprisingly not crispy, and I felt it was a bit heavy on the salt. The gouda mac n cheese was also quite a small portion, but the taste was decent. I found it too cheesy, but it wasn't my order anyway :)
We of course finished with desserts. The Meyer lemon tart was the featured dessert of the day. It came with a few slices of grapefruit. My friend and I were so surprised at the brulee topping - we never thought to make our lemon tarts that way and the brulee topping was an absolute delight! My friend's nougat was also a delightful surprise. I've only ever had nougat candy so I don't know what it would be like in dessert form. Well, it tasted like ice cream and it was pretty darn delicious! My chocolate cake tasted pretty standard, and I liked that it wasn't overly rich. I wasn't crazy at the idea of coconut sorbet but it balanced out the chocolate very well, so that was a successful combination.
Three hours later we were finally finished. We were quite happy with this restaurant. Service was pretty good - we never had to ask for our water to be filled. Our server was eager to answer our questions and everyone else seemed happy and cheerful. I think we will return again!
Mouth Orgasm.. I had their yoghurt panna cotta for dessert and what it lacks in aesthetic appeal it makes up for in being effing delicious. I will be back to try an entree as soon as I find a sugar daddy errr...I mean boyfriend.
Tasty but tiny. Had a lunch of duck leg confit with potato cake and brussels sprouts leaves: duck moist and delicious, skin not as crispy as it could be, potato cake was great, sprout leaves tasty, but with less than 10 leaves, it was a bit sparse. Looked pretty on the plate but, really, I thought that tiny nouveau cuisine portions were out of fashion. My wife had sea bream on potato, also quite tasty, but I think that the plates could have more veg to round out the meal. I know that there must be a profit margin but veggies are cheap. The waitress was pleasant but lacked knowledge: the special was "Around $25, I think" and when asked if the duck was a leg or breast, replied that it was a breast but that "it came with the chicken, too" ?? It was a leg. Still, I might go back, but with Charcut just around the corner, maybe not.
Great Dining Experience. Had a wonderful group dinner there, we were too big for the private room but we were in large area with two large tables that worked very well. Very very good food and very impressive wine advice. I had the Sea Scallops for an appetizer and they were delicous, followed with the steak and finished with a delicous cheese plate.
Great food, wonderful service and a very good dining experience.
Will definitely return.
One Night in Calgary. Looking for a meal without booking for my wife & I at the end of a weeks travel through the Rockies. Not keen on in hotel dining again. Wandered around the corner from the hotel and came across this place. Busy but not full. Knowledgable and friendly staff, not OTT. Food turned out to be beyond expectations.
Nice atmosphere. Good service. Set menu was excellent value for price. Two set menus including appetizer, main, and desert with wine was $100. Food overall was good, though it did not stand out. The duck was great. The "sticky" toffee pudding was not sticky, it was soupy. You might want to try the crem brule.
Creative cuisine and another success from Chef Andrew. Familiar with British chef Andrew Richardson through Araxi (Whistler, BC) and Cioppino's (Vancouver, BC) I was delighted by my dining experience at Blink.
The buffalo mozzarella salad is a great introduction to my perfectly cooked halibut. Ending the night with creme brulee can never go wrong.
My favorite table is located at the front window so that one may toast to fine wine in the background of Stephen Avenue.
When Valrhona chocolate is used in desserts, I know that the selection of ingredients is a priority.
I have returned to Blink on multiple occasions and recently noticed that they have an early bird dining menu for $35 three course meal! What value! I am sure to try this!
Wow!. I have been living in Calgary for 3 years and just found out about this place a few months ago. The food is fantastic, the quality of service is excellent. It reminds me of being back in New York, dining at the best restaurants. The server knew everything about the menu and the manager/owner sold me a fantastic wine at a great price. I have heard nothing but great things about this place and will tell everyone I know to go here.
My Favourite Restaurant in Calgary. We have been going to Blink since shortly after it opened and have never had anything even remotely approaching a mediocre meal! First off the space is fantastic. Whether you want a romantic dinner for 2 or something for a bigger party, Blink can accommodate easily.
I could go on forever about the food - the quality is outstanding, the combinations are innovative and the cooking perfect. Anything and everything we have had has been phenomenal, but there are a few standouts I have to mention: the fresh made baguette, light and crispy. Anything with pork belly or bacon is unbelievable, but the hands down best thing on the menu is the Quebec Foie Gras - silky, smooth with a depth of flavour I've never had anywhere else.
Every dish we've had here has been memorable, and to top it off the service is fantastic.
The best.
Lost track of time. When I went to dine here, I just arrived a few minutes past the 6:30 cut off for their prix-fixe menu. The hostess went of of her way to get it available for us without asking, it was a surprise and very appreciated.
Our waiter gave excellent service. In the prix-fixe menu, I had a deep fried ball of salmon, which was perfect, its crispy but not hard, and the inside was consistent and still steamy. For my main I had the Shepherd's Pie, supremely cheesy outside and beefy inside. Both dishes were plated light and creatively. Overall dinner was very filling, and really left no room for dessert (unfortunately).
Although we only had two courses, there was a very relaxed and open atmosphere, perfect for good conversation. So time definitely flew by. I will have to go again soon, and I WILL have dessert then.
A Kaleidoscope of Flavours. This intimate restaurant located on Stephen Avenue boasts a menu of seasonal fresh ingredients from local markets and farms. The dining room is comfortable, warm and serene. To start, I ordered a beautiful pear and endive salad with Sylvan Star grizzly gouda with a walnut vinaigrette - light and fresh. For my entree, I selected the Lamb Shoulder that was softly pounded out into a roulade and then stuffed with spinach and thyme and braised in a lamb jus. The lamb was then placed on top of a thick latke type cake mixture of potato, onion and cabbage. What can I say, outstanding flavours. I highly recommend Blink.

Enjoyable Night Out. I liked our night out at Blink. We were there on a Thursday night before the Olympics started in Vancouver, and the restaurant was nearly empty.
The hostess was the chef's wife (I think). She answered all of our questions, even the non food related ones.
My meal was good, but in hindsight, I should have ordered something different. It was not because the dish was not good.
I had the ox cheeks just because it was something I had never tried before. It was like a really well done roast, and very tasty. If I had really read the description carefully, I would have known how it was prepared, and would have known that it was not likely to be to my taste.
Overall, a great night. The appetizer's and dessert were fantastic, and we had a great seat at the front of the restaurant where we could look out on Stephan Avenue Mall, and watch the people go by.
A nice touch was the warm blankets they had by our seats. Being in an older building the view seats that we had could get a little chilly, and the blankets ensured that we stayed toasty warm.
Amazing food. The food at this place is absolutely amazing. While the wait can be a little bit long, in the end it is completely worth it. Don't forget to try the sticky toffee pudding for dessert.
Wow. Love this place! Came in recently for dinner with friends for the first time. Our server Nicole was very graceful, passionate and knowledgeable about the food. She went out of her way to make our experience memorable. The Food was enormously satisfying. The Chef has a real art for cooking. Something rare in Calgary.
EMM
Been a server for 5 years. This place blew me out of the water. The menu: exquisite. The service: refined, informed, knowlegdeable, capable, friendly. She was what we needed and wanted without even trying. The experience and passion for her job (her name was Chris R) was palpable. Easily the best meal I've had in Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, new York, San Francisco or Sydney. Perfect portion sizes for a multiple-course extravaganza, desert is a must. Some people (namely those who think that Earls is a "meal") might think that it's a bit pricey, but here you are paying for an exquisite evening, amazing food and excellent service. Worth every penny. I had the foie gras, tuna tataki and truffled beef carpaccio for start, the black cod for main and the caramelled bannanas with ice cream for desert. Heaven... Pure heaven.
Lovely place for street-level dining. With a grand spot to people watch on Stephen Ave (during the summer, of course!), the food and drink here are imaginative and well done. I'm not a big wine person (and probably never will), but the drinks are made well, and the menu looks and is brilliant.
Great restaurant!. The food is really tasty, the service is perfect - except that asking for a 18% service without a previous notice, is pretty unfair to me, it's almost worth it. Can be pricey, but the "prix fixe" menus are at a really great price (around $30 for 2-3 plates), and the restaurant itself is really great. We enjoyed it!
Loved it. My boyfriend and I went there for a small meal. We had the gnocchi with truffles (I think it's no longer on the menu) and the foie gras parfait. They were both so delicious and couldn't have been more perfect. It is a pricey but a great treat!
Good Lunch. Even though I consider their wine list to be a sham….I have to admit that my lunch at Blink was a pleasant surprise. I like the room, the service was very good and the food really surprised me. The red wine braised boneless short rib ($24.95) I had was fantastic. Served in a mini cast iron ramekin I thought the portion would be light…but was impressed by how much food they packed in that little pot of joy. The meat was cooked perfectly and was easily managed with my fork. The veggies complimenting the meat were firm, tasty, and thanks to the cast iron it was all warm throughout my lunch. While I am still not sold on this place…I am intrigued enough to come back for an early dinner before the steroid-monkey and club-girl crowd shows up. Still can't believe what they're trying to charge for E&E Shiraz so value remains a question….but I digress.
Doesn't get better than this.. My wife and I went there for valentines dinner and we were blown away. From the staff to the food, it is as good as it gets. Leslie, front of house and part owner, is simply divine. She looks after your needs like an old friend visiting her home. The food is innovative and always in season. It is certainly among Calgary's best kept secrets.
Friendly staff and fantastic food. I will be going back soon. Was a nice touch as we were the last table of the night to have the chef come out and ask us how our meals were.
Our server, Marie (who was also my server 2 years ago) was attentive and warm throughout our meal and I really enjoyed this Big Taste experience.

The food highlighted seasonal ingredients with fresh and simple elegance. The finesse in the plating of each course was reflected in the modern decor of the restaurant: off-white wooden trimmed facade featuring large windows, hardwood flooring, exposed brick wall, chocolate brown and nautical blue wall accents. Service was well-timed and attentive. Their drink menu featured a variety of martinis from which I chose the "ice wine-tini" featuring grey goose vodka, icewine, chambord and bubbles. Amazing. Darrin had a bottled beer, Wildrose IPA. Alongside, we ordered foie gras and sea scallops as appetizers. The foie gras was exceptionally creamy and smooth, served with a rhubarb chutney. Scallops were grilled perfectly and served wi
...the exposed brick walls, the comfy chairs, the inoffensive ambiance and, of course, the consistently great food.
Located on Stephen Avenue, Blink was a recent winner of the people's choice award for best restaurant in Calgary by Avenue magazine. You don't win the people's choice award by sucking. And they did not disappoint. Upon arriving, I was quickly seated at a table near the middle-ish part of the restaurant. Megan arrived shortly after. We browsed the menu as our server prepared our drink order - two glasses of still water. We're definitely going all out for this one! Just kidding. I ordered the slow cooked crispy duck. We nib

Blink’s menu often changes to reflect the season even if sometimes they’re small adjustments, you can always be sure that it reflects what fresh.
