Review Una Pizza + Wine - Calgary

Sandeep Singh
Hey Una Pizza is a good time. Dim lighting(no squinting need, twas the right shade of dim to see and converse) swanky music and good food make Una a place to recharge before you start traipsing about 17th Ave. The service was good, our server was friendly and paid attention to our table, deftly handling a group of 6 boisterous friends who were catching up after months apart. The food arrived in a timely manner, and was plated in a please manner. Great date night, catch up or stopover upper end pizza with pasta on the menu joint!

Very much worth the hype and wait! They had very good gluten free options and made sure it was safe. While we waited for our table we went to the speakeasy at the back of the restaurant which was really cool! The service was excellent and pizza was sooo delicious!

Paid 15$ for chicken Karaage, got 4 pieces of dry chicken WITHOUT THE SAUCE. I couldn’t believe how sad it looked, just 4 pieces of dry breaded chicken. If we are going to pay that kind of money for 4 pieces of chicken it would be great if the staff could ensure consistency and that service standards are met. Real disappointed. Buyers please make sure to double check your takeout orders before leaving.

I would give 6 stars. Amazing food. Amazing drinks, amazing music and vibe. Wish we had this in Toronto. Must try their garlic bread and French 75 drinks.

Our favourite pizza place! The best kale caesar salad anywhere, guaranteed, and they are kind enough to share their recipe. We tried the chick pea fries this time and were super glad we did. Ended up getting a 2nd order.. The pasta is also amazing as was our waiter Roland. Highly recommend Una!

I was expecting way more for the hype. Ordered the 4-Maggi and it was really hard to chew, extremely dry and flat. I didn’t enjoy eating it. Definitely didn’t look as the pizzas on the reviews. I wouldn’t call it the best pizzeria in town tbh. On the bright side the garlic bread was really good.

One of the best pizza/pasta I ate! We had to wait 30 mins for a table but totally worth it. I highly recommend the gnocchis which were delicious 😋 Only cons was the the music was a bit too loud but other than that we loved the experience !
Anna
Very good gluten free pizza, I know it's a challenge to make one but it turned out great! Also loved the chilli oil, definitely recommended! We also ordered some potatoes which were meh, not bad but not great.

We had an 8-hour layover in Calgary and asked locals where to get the best pizza. They recommended UNA so we spent $25 on a cab just to get there. The Kale Caesar Salad was delicious and a very generous portion and worth more than this one star rating. However, the pizza was horrible. We ordered the mushroom pizza, which was our mistake from the start. There were a sprinkle of mushrooms, way to much arugula and the crust was dry, unflavoured and hard. At no point did our server ask what wanted to order (we needed to flag another server down), ask us about our meal, or thank us after paying after we had to flag someone down to get our bill. (Leaving a tip was my biggest regret.) This is the first food review I've ever written, but I was compelled by how terrible the "pizza" and service was to actually write one.

Una is one of my favourites- always amazing food and amazing service as well as funky decor. Was there Sunday night (late) and our server Sean took great care of us. Our table ordered a few bottles of red, shared the kale salad, house mixed olives, 4 Maggi pizza, and three different desserts. Everything was amazing! The food comes out quickly considering how busy it always is and the quality is out of this world. Una uses fresh ingredients and plate presentation is always on point. Calgary is lucky to have a place like Una. Try their sister restaurants as well (Ox & Angela and Native Tongues)- they never disappoint.

Best thin crust pizza hands down. The four cheese with truffle oil is decadent. Their kale caesar salad is amazing and huge! Enough to share with the whole table. This is our go to spot for lunch. Always a great meal at Una.

Used to be my favourite pizza place by far. I️ firmly suspect they’ve started using lower cost/quality ingredients to increase profits. Pizza was the greasiest I’ve seen there. Low quality cheese and the crust wasn’t fluffy like it once was. Super disappointed. Quality just isn’t there any more and there are too many good alternatives in the city.
Lucy Lovelock
I was just treated to lunch here and wow! It was amazing! My friend had raved about the kale salad and it was every bit as good as she said it would be! The service was great and lovely atmosphere! Can’t wait to return! Especially for the kale salad!

Was in recently and the staff were kind but did not know anything about the food if it was spicy or not....i have a medical condition so asking them repeadtedly did nothing, was also served a raw meatball. Im talking gobs of raw meat with fat in em still. Sad you present so well but cant cook ground beef, its a good thing ive worked alot of culinary and know what i am doing or i would have been back in the hospital with my stomach isses. I cannot in good faith recommend you to anyone

Food was good, service was wonderful. Nothing too extraordinary but it was a good dinner and fiance really enjoyed the special periogi pizza.

I use to go to Una all the time but have not been in a while. I ordered the 4 maggi and the prosciutto. The 4 maggi was extremely cheesy. Almost to the point of being too cheesy. The crust was so thin that it basically was not there. It was just a thick layer of cheese. I felt gross after eating 2 pieces. There was not much honey or truffle flavour to it. Just once again cheese. The prosciutto was better but quite salty. I remember liking it better than what I had today. Una use to be my go to place but after this recent experience I am not sure if I love it as much as I thought I did. Maybe it was just not a good day or a new chef. Not sure.

I am 8 months pregnant and when I arrived I was basically told we needed to wait half an hour or sit on the high stools at the bar. Now for anyone who has been pregnant before they would understand that the bar stools are extremely uncomfortable for a pregnant person as well as at the bar you are sitting and facing the kitchen which emits very hot heat. We accepted to sit at the bar anyway given the lack of choice but as we walk further into the restaurant we see two empty tables. 5 mins later I see that seat other customers at the table yet I am heavily pregnant and that wasn't even an option for me?? I asked my server if a table opened up, if we could take it and she basically looked at me like I'm some type of snob on my high horse and said sorry there is a wait list. Very disappointed in the lack of consideration for their guests that could use that extra courtesy. At the end we just ordered the food and left as I did not feel welcome there. The issue is the principle that there was tables available but we were told there isn't? The food is great but not worth it for the poor service. Will not go back due to this experience and will share with others.

ABSOLUTELY love the pizzas here! They make'em right in front of you from scratch and it's beautiful to watch. Their wine collection is very nice and my favourite is their cheesecake! Must try if you haven't already.

My reviews of Una have been read over 50,000 times in a year. WOW.

Still one of my go to places. Can’t wait for patio season. Have the stuffed dates for dessert. Mmmm

I have been going since day one. Love this place, look for me on You Gotta Eat Here as a patron.

The pizza is simply the best in Calgary, the service is among the best if not the best. Kelly and Jamie run a great house and their staff reflect that.

I like to go for a weekend lunch with friends, a good relax with a great pizza, the stuffed dates (like candy, you cannot each just one) The house wine or a great glass of one from their fantastic menu.

If you get a chance on a nice day the patio seating is fun. I like a great martini, dry Hendriks, one of the best in town as well.

Go you will not be disappointed, There is usually a bit of a line up, DO NOT let that deter you, it moves fast and it well worth the wait.

Say hello from JImmy. . .

I absolutely love Una Pizza. Their location is fantastic. Love their pizza and meatballs! Definitely try their Churro cake when you're there. You won't regret it.
YYCFoodies123
I love Una. Their pizzas are fantastic. Meatballs are especially my favourite. I've been meaning to try their churro cake... Will definitely be heading back.

Good and quick service! Love that it's close to home for me so im always ordering the maggi pizza. The wine is always fresh i find. Sometimes when i order wine from restaurants they taste like they've been opened for awhile

I don't often find myself on 17th anymore, so I always forget how much I love this place. I don't get to go often, but when the opportunity presents itself for a meal, especially later in the night, the mention of Una makes me happy. Service has always been lovely, the place is always busy but you never feel like it is once you get a seat.

The menu is great, but I find myself always hitting the same thing - 4-maggi pizza with as much chili oil as they will let us have at one table. On this most recent visit we also had the patatas verdes - a huge plate of crunchy potatoes smothered in chimichurri sauce, they were delicious & ton of food for 3 or 4 people to split easily. We ordered, of course, the 4-maggi and also the Mushroom pizza. We each picked from the terrific options for wine & beer and as always, thoroughly enjoyed our experience as the blizzard went hard outside and we sat sipping wine, dragging crust through the remaining honey on the pan and watching out the window.

Another great girls evening at Una, no complaints, and it left us chatting about the next time we can make our way there again!

I found this place Una Pizza and Wine through Zomato as I was looking for a new food that I never tried in Calgary. We waited for about 35 minutes for a table of two. We ordered a mushroom pizza and not pizza – prawn (don’t remember an exactly the name of the dish). I was very impressed with the sauce that they used to sautéed the prawn, it was very good and full of flavor of sweet and a little bit of spicy.

Pizza – I love the pizza with a lot of mushroom and cheesy and tons of arugula on top. But I really don’t like the crust - flat, tough and tasteless.

Customer Services: 4/5

Food: 4/5

Service was fantastic, friendly and not rushy, even if they were busy. Server was courteous and patient. Food was excellent, the pizza sauce was really genuine, ingredients were fresh and we enjoyed our meal. We will be back.
Valjcampbell01
Service and pizza are fantastic. The restaurant is quite small so come early for a seat. The selection of drinks is extensive and caters to both wine and beer drinkers.
Date-Nights
We really love their pizzas! The place is a little bit tight and the tables are close to each other. But the food is worth it! Their food is really good! I can see why this place is so busy!
Oly
They have very delicious pizza! I would have given them a 4-5 star but there was a giant dead bug in our salad (fennel) and when the waitress said they would bring us a new one there was a bug in that one too... so i wouldn’t recommend the salads here, maybe it was just bad luck for us but the pizza was great!
Kyla
The 4-maggi pizza is out of this world! The kale ceasar is also delicious. The restaurant is always busy and I've often had to wait for a spot, but it's always been worth it!
Whitegurlsushi
Una is a trendy pizza parlour located right on 17th ave. They offer delicious thin crust pizzas with a twist and really fresh delicious ingredients. Make sure you ask for the house made chili oil and order the kale Caesar salad. You won’t be disappointed. This place gets busy and isn’t very big so make sure you go early!

Una is a pizzeria on 17 Ave. They do not take reservations so the place tends to fill up quickly. Arrived at 6:10 and after hobbling around the construction for 15 mins to the restaurant, the host was gracious enough to seat me even though the rest of my party hadn’t arrived yet. Their policy is that they would not seat you until the entire party was there, but I was thankful they seated me earlier...given my badly injured foot. The place was packed. The food was spectacular. The vegetarian pizza was so good. It took a while to make but when it did come, it was piping hot and so good. I definitely want to come back again and try some other things off their menu...I had eyed the mushroom pizza and the veal and pork meatballs, so I have to go back to try them. Excellent place. I can see why it’s one of the top 25 restaurants in Avenue magazine!
Jenna
Always consistently good. Decided to try a different appetizer this time and was very pleased! Who knew potatoes could be soooo good?! The only downside is tables are extremely close together which makes it awkward to enter and leave the table, the lady beside me and her purse almost knocked down my glass of wine!
Narmi Eejaa
Meh -.Overpriced and paper thin pizza not my style! However, great ambiance and the staff are so pleasant and nothing beats enjoying a cold brew while waiting for a pizza to be made!

Get here early though or you'll be waiting in line. Yikes!
Audrey Bahnam
So cool to be seated at the bar and to see how skilled the chefs are in preparing and cutting the pizzas!
We had the walnut stuffed Persian dates, so good! And the caesar kale salad. And two pizzas, margherita & prosciutto. Yum!!
Bee
Very disappointed. Sat here for 15 minutes and no one came by to serve us today. Wasn't even a full house at the time. We got up and went somewhere else. Get some new waiters
Chunny
Just a fantastic pizza! There are so many specialty orders to choose from its hard to decide. It's the dough, though. It is thin, flavorful, got just the right crisp to the crust and still great the next day. Any za on the menu is good; I've tried them all at least once now!
Jessica Oliver
Great service from all three staff who attended us. Got an appetizer, wine, pizza, dessert and coffee for two. Total came to just over $100 (and this was with the most expensive wine on the menu...recommended by the waitress.......) so really well priced. All food was excellent. Would reccommend. Might go again.

Pretty good experience here. My bf and I decided to make a spontaneous trip down to Calgary from Edmonton for just something to do. I love trying local restaurants when I'm somewhere new rather than chain restaurants. I've heard of this place through a fitness vlogger based in Calgary so I looked it up and found that it had great reviews. So I didn't even give my bf an option and tool him here.

We came on a Friday night maybe around 7:30 ish. Not being from around here we didn't know it would be so busy... I guess 17th Ave in Calgary is kinda equivalent to Whyte Ave in Edmonton. So we were told about an 1.5 wait. I really wanted to try this place so we put our names down for a table, and they said they were able to send a text message when a table was available which was nice. So we able to explore 17th ave while we waited. We got a text only about 50 minutes later, so that was a nice surprise since we were getting hangry... Lol.

Restaurant was pretty packed and lighting was dark. Not really the best place if you want to have a conversation with your company as it was loud and cramped inside.

Our server wasn't very friendly. Maybe because it was super busy but I didn't get good vibes... We were trying to be polite with her and we didn't even get a "you're welcome" or a smile.

However, the Pizza was delicious. I found that it was kinda greasy. There was oil dripping off as I ate it. But the crust, Pizza sauce and toppings were on point. My bf was complaining that the pizza wasn't holding together but he still enjoyed it. I find that most Neapolitan style pizza is that was especially if you get quite a few toppings on it. I only ordered a margarita pizza so I didn't have that issue.

Definitely a must try if you're in Calgary. Next time I'm in town I will for sure be back!!!

Beauty & The Beets
I'm sorry but they have changed their recipe for their pizza crust. It is no better than buying a frozen pizza . The crust makes the pizza. There are plenty of places in Calgary for fantastic pizza. Unfortunately this is no longer one of them.
But I guess there are enough pretentious bores that will spend money on mediocre food, just to pose at this desirable location on 17 ave.

This is by far my favourite restaurant in the city. I don't come often because it is fairly expensive considering it's a small thin crust pizza. That said, I still make it here every few months for a nice sit down dinner.

We always order the 4 maggi with prosciutto, as far as I'm conserved this is the only way to eat it. Piled high with the peppers from the house made chilli oil is everything.

The kale ceaser salad is also a huge 10 for me. If you're on a first date maybe steer clear of this as the garlic in it is a kick to the breath. I'd do it anyways, it's just that good.

Service is always great. It is a small restaurant and I think that adds to the ambiance. I've done take out and it's just not the same.

EDIT: October 12, 2018

I’ve been a fan of Una for the last four years! Unfortunately, I won’t be back anytime soon. The prices have skyrocketed. I just went with a girlfriend and my bill alone was $91 and some change. The “house” wine is now $55.00. We ordered the same thing we always do, and split a bottle of wine - like we always do. Her bill was $79.00. Combined our bills have never come to this. Usually around $60 each. This is absolutely ridiculous. I can go to the keg and binge on a steak dinner, the baked shrimp starter, with an entire bottle of Malbec to myself for $87.00 before tax and tip. Unbelievable.

As much as I would steal candy from a child for a slice of 4-maggi, I won’t be back unless the prices are lowered or I win the lottery. Thanks Notley, for ruining the dining experience of so many Albertans. You’re a real winner.

will always be one of my favourite Italian pizza places .Ive tried many many other places but nothing comes close to your formagi pizza. Awesome delcious. Only down fall with this place is finding a spot before 10PM
Catherine
The best patata verde (green potato) I've ever had, but when I was back and ordered patata again, it was different, not just the potato was over fried but they've changed recipe, I didn't like it, you can see the difference from photos too...pizza we ordered first time was nice but the crust was a little bit too hard, second time I ordered mushroom and was not a good choice as the mushroom were quite dry, maybe also not enough cheese basis, you can imagine hard crust with dry toppings, how could it please my taste buds?! It's a nice restaurant though with lovely atmosphere, trendy, busy but relaxing. Service overall was good. But according to the food I had second time, I have to change my initial rating of 4.5 into 3.5
Kendra
This restaurant was excellent!! Great service, great food, and great atmosphere. Highly recommend. The mushroom pizza was so good and can't wait to come back and try more.
Lex_11
What's to say?! This is the BEST pizza in Calgary! In fact being from Vancouver, I can say there's nothing that tops it in Van either! Best! Great price, decent house wine and pizza that I crave regularly!! Keep it up UNA!!
Poiyping
My favorite pizza place hands down. Absolute favorites are the prosciutto pizza, kale caesar salad, walnut stuffed persian date, and braised veal and pork meatballs. If you haven't tried this place then you are truly missing out.
Nigameash Harihar
Great place for some pizza and wine while having a chill conversation. The service is great as is the atmosphere. Do try the mushroom pizza.
Elizabeth Anne
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Calgary, however the quality seems to have gone downhill.

I am not sure if it is because we have a lot of new pizza options in Calgary, or if this particular item has changed, but I find that their regular crust used to taste much better. At this time I would say other spots in the area like Cibo, Bridgette, Full Circle and even Via Cibo have better crust. The crust is the #1 thing I suggest they improve upon.

I think Una has great topping choices and pizza flavors, however as of late any of the pizzas that come with oil on them have been soaked (when a light drizzle would be much better), this has happened a few times to me. Unfortunately I also received a band-aid in on my last prosciutto pizza last night which was disgusting.

I also find that lately Una's salad options are mostly very savory (kale Caesar, beet or root veggie based). I understand that it is winter a lot of the year in Calgary but I think with pizza and heavy Italian items a year-round fresh salad would be a great compromise. They used to often do a tomato salad, or tomato and fresh mozzarella - I miss those days!

My other favorite item, the proscutto wrapped dates has come overcooked the last few times I was there or ordered delivery.

I used to have such a special spot in my heart for Una, but I do not think the quality control or the bar of excellence is as good as it used to be.
FoodieYYC
Went on a saturday night around 11pm. The place was pretty full but not crowed. We got a Margherita pizza and beef veal meatballs. Price was pretty expensive for the meatballs. It was very good though. Service was decent.
Dgrange10
A perfect spot for a genuine pizza experience with quality ingredients, cool atmosphere and friendly folks. I had the Formaggi pizza, olives and a glass of vino ! Great spot for couples, university students, business meal or whatever
Lynn
I've been here a couple times with my family and really love it. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming. The service is great. My son loves their pizza and they have unique drinks.
Taylor Geiger
I love Una. Whenever me and my boyfriend are stuck on where to eat we go to Una. It has take out or you can dine in. The kale caesar salad is my favourite!
Irenehamilton2017
I went to Una Pizza a two weekends ago and had a fantastic experience. Food was excellent and service really friendly and helpful when trying to decide for different options.
Such a good place!
Mitchel
Overall great place, tight space but always delivers a good pizza. Great dough
And crust. I personally find their sauce on my top 3 list. Fresh ingredients. Not a bad thing to say at all. Great here
Amy
Always packed here and for good reason, it's delicious! For starters, the service is always great! I order the kale caesar to start every time I'm here. The kale is crisp and fresh. My go to picks for pizza is the prosciutto and 4-maggi. Don't forget to ask for chill oil, it's the perfect topping on any pizza!

What I don't like about this place is how crammed it is. It's always super loud here, and it's hard to have a personal conversation when you're shouting while you're elbow to elbow with your guests.
HungryInYYC
This place is very overrated. There's always a line to get in and I'm not sure why. Their pizza is just OK. There are many other better pizza places in YYC.
Travis Keyes
From the food to the environment, I absolutely love this place. Service is on point as well. Awesome awesome. I truly recommend 4-maggi pizza. Im usually a topping lover on pizzas but jesus... 4-maggi I could eat everyday.
Ann
This place has a great atmosphere, but beyond that I think the food is rather mediocre considering the price. I expect more for what they are charging.
Katie Elizabeth
After reading all of the great reviews I was looking forward to going here! We ordered the mushroom pizza and the artichoke heart pizza. We found both really mediocre. We both enjoy bianco (white) pizza but felt these were too dry. We know some bianco pizzas come without sauce (which we like) but these didn't even come with any type of oil. Also wasn't a huge fan of the dough, it was too crispy. Can think of other pizza restaurants that I would say are way better.
Jomar
Good Italian pizza is hard to come by, especially when you’re not in Italy. That said, Una Pizza Calgary serves one of the best pizzas in Calgary! They DON'T take reservations so be prepared to wait if it's busy. We ordered the sausage pizza ($21) and the artichoke heart pizza ($17), both of which were delicious and worth the money, in my opinion! However, our order took 30 minutes to get to our table. So, if you come here on a busy dinner and lunch service, I recommend ordering some appetizers (or drinks) to ease the hunger.
Jane Yang
Honestly I don't know what they big hype is about this restaurant. Don't get me wrong, the interior and decor is very nice but the restaurant is cramped. The food was okay, but it wasn't anything special
MD
The best pizza in YYC!! Amazing gluten free creations, great wine list, amazing date night spot or a night with friends. The wait is so worth it!!
Carrie Johnson
Their pizza is amazing!!!! Favs are 4-maggi ($22) and Tiki ($19) . Prices are a little steep but when you want to splurge it's worth every bite!!
Sarmad Rizvi
My favourite restaurant in the city. Best service, best food. Sambuca prawns & tagliatelle are both amazing but that mushroom pizza will be my last meal when I'm on death row.
One Nomad Foodie
Very less vegetarian options.. food was quite good though.. Ambience is ok, it's a little small and cramped.. overall, an okay experience.. one time try
Deba
Absolutely brilliant sausage pizza - just wow! Will definitely be back - great ambience very busy though - speaks volume of the food quality
James
Pizza was not really good! Regarding to lots of recommendations for tasting pizza at this place I figured out that they don't have wood fired pizza oven which is one of the essentials for baking Italian pizza and after all the pizza quality was below average in comparison with real Italian pizza that I've tried thousands before!! Atmosphere was ok, music was too loud and service was just ok and no thanks I won't go there any more!
Karen
I really really love Una, what I do not love, is how expensive pizza has become, but that seems to be the norm these days. There are plenty of pizza places around the city, but I seem to find myself leaning towards Una whenever anyone feels like going out for pizza.I haven't had the chance to dine in for a few years now, we usually do take out whenever we go. The Kale salad is to die for, although a bit expensive for what it is. Una has a great feature where you are able to order online, and it'll be ready for pickup at the time you specify. Note that there are a few hours over the dinner time where they do not do this as they get way too busy, but all the instructions are available online. We ordered 2 kale salads to go on Saturday, and when we got there, they didn't get our order for whatever reason. Rather than making us wait in what I assume to be a fairly long queue, once we showed them our order confirmation and they realized it was their error, they made us 2 kale salads and we were out in a few minutes. I appreciated the service very much!If you're ever in the mood for pizza, I know there are lots of places in Calgary to go, such as Without Papers, Double Zero or LDV Pizza Bar, give Una a try first. I don't think you'll be disappointed!
Watermelon Duck
One of the best at cooking up Italian style pizzas in the city, that is if you have the patience to wait for an hour (sometimes 2) for a table to sit! It gets very busy but you can always call ahead to check. The wild mushroom pizza drizzled with truffle oil is something to die for.
Arezo Sonuhi
I have been to Una Pizza a few times now and I love it that much more each time. I love the variety and Pizza topping combinations...very unique and delicious. The atmosphere is very romantic. Great place for a date or just girls night out!
Sovain
Just try to get a table...I dare ya! Well, the folks at UNA understand the problem, so you can leave them your cell number, once you put your name on the list, and you can run an errand while you wait for their call. Is it worth waiting? Just try it once, and you'll know. A really quaint "hallway" of a place. Stuff the wine on the rack behind you, so you have more room for the pizza. So incredibly good every time. Good wine list. Innovative salads, and an ever-changing array of delicious appy's. You'll leave with the feeling that life is a bit better. (Maybe that glow is from the wine...)
Snacker
Believe the hype. This place is always jam packed for a reason. Extra friendly servers, great ambience and excellent menu items. Will come back again.
Alisa Boysis
Easily the most overrated place in Calgary. They make mediocre typical American pizza. If you're looking for a more authentic pizza made with good quality ingredients, try Double Zero or Posto instead
Ha-Young Lee
The food was ok
But i loved the Atmosphere
Im sure they have other great menus.
But the "best" food that we were suggested was ok
Madison Smyth
Was able to walk right in to Una Pizza and get a table (almost unheard of ).We ordered Char Board to start always a favorite. Tried the 4 Maggi pizza this time and it was awesome cheesy excellence. This restaurant does not take reservations. Seating can get pretty tight. Great food and awesome staff. They do have a takeout window now.
Highly recommend !
Dave Combs
We went there late on Sat Feb 27. The food was great! Lynsey (hope i got her name right) was awesome. She is everything that a customer would want to have great service. I love her style of serving. She genuinely cares! Her service with the food made it 10/10 for us . Thanks again !
Leslie Raj
What more can I say that hasn't already been said?

The kale salad and pizzas in general are stunning and hits the spot in flavour, texture and presentation. My go-to pie is their beltine with a close runner up in the mushroom pizza. The cheesecake (especially when topped with apricots) is simple yet immaculate. Their food still pleasantly surprises me on the 15th return.

Please open a second or larger space! It is stiflingly warm year round and my personal space feels breached.
Justin Kettle
I went here quite a while ago but this is my favourite pizza place in town. The pizzas are all amazing. I forget the exact pizza I ordered but had bacon agony maple syrup. Was indulgent. Service was great. Recommend as a good date spot due to the nice cosy setting and atmosphere
MBez
This place is a definite go to, especially if we are undecided and don't want to risk disappointment. From their amazing kale caesar salad, meatballs and their consistently delicious pizza (even good GF crust), to the wine and service - have yet to walk away disappointed in the money and time spent in this restaurant.
Jay B
Dine-in review:
To keep this short and sweet the service was friendly and attentive. Very helpful with dish suggestions,etc...

Atmosphere was casual but intimate (tables closer) which actually encouraged friendly conversation with our neighboring table (which is something I don't generally...
Jonny
UNA Pizza + Wine is notorious for having crazy long lineups as it’s one of those no reservation type of restaurants. They’ve been packed every single time that I’ve visited except for during our most recent one! Forget about waiting 1-2 hours on Friday or Saturday evening unless you enjoy that type of thing. You could always mosey over to another spot on 17th Ave or else check out their sister restaurant, Ox and Angela.
Fooddood
The pizza is delicious, and the appetizers are some of my favourite in Calgary. I would recommend the tiger prawns! The atmosphere probably comes mostly from the fact that it's always busy and vibrant feeling on the inside. There are even a few bar stools where you can sit up right with the chefs and watch the magic.

They don't take reservations and as frustrating as that can be, it's also part of the charm of the place. (They will however take down your cell phone number and call you when you're table is ready).

The hype took us here. Customer service, A. Beer selection, A (Last Best on tap). Location, A.

We had a delicious king oyster mushroom appetiser which brought something new and exciting for us. The charcuterie was was a good size for the cost, and we loved the mustard that it came with.

Pizza: I felt that our pizza was delicious ingredients on a Dr. Oetker crust. I'm not saying that the hard style thin crust is a bad thing, I'm just saying that this was what I was most reminded of as far as texture and flavor. The side of chili's with oil was really delicious, and this is coming from someone who makes chili oil at home regularly.

We love their pizza. Our favorites is the 4 cheese with arugula and prosciutto added. It's pricey (for a pizza), but we split that and their amazing kale Caesar salad between the 2 of us. Their 'wings' are also yummy. Only downsides are that it is noisy and they take no reservations. Service is good....what you would expect from this type of establishment.

The best pizza in Calgary, enough said👍
Staff is friendly, restaurant can be either casual or fancy, various selections of pizza (gluten free crust is really good).

Always busy! But you can have wine while you wait! Usually they get you in quiet quick! Unique food! Amazing gluten free pizzas! Great service! Recommend!!

Always delicious !! 4-maggi pizza is my absolute favorite. Started with chicken wings which I have never had at Una, and would definitely get again. A+

Be prepared to wait in line for hours if you show up at peak dinning times. Cant wait for their take out window to open. Always recommend the four cheese pizza and the best kale ceasar salad i have tried.

Love this place, great for just catching up with old friends. Went again last night and although there was a little wait, service was good and we got an excellent table. Although be warned it can get pricey ....

This place has pretty good pizza but probably will never return again. I'm not sure about other servers but our server was terrible. She was extremely rude and seemed like she didn't want to serve us at all because she thought we weren't good tippers. Despite, the bad service we still tipped her 15% which we extremely regret. When we were ready to order, we had to wait for 20 mins for her to come over. We were just having second thoughts about what to order and she gave us attitude and said "ladies, thought you guys said that you guys are ready to order" She was extremely rude.

I don't know if I was waiting at Una or the medicentre during flu season. The number of times being told "almost ready" was more than my wife's on a night out. Upon seating, the amazingly hot server grabbed our orders, for me to only realize that it wasn't her that was hot...but the temperature in the restaurant. I want to make a suggestion for Una servers to follow McDonald's motto in the 90s of smiles are free, as she seemed very unimpressed and unenthusiastic at work. How can someone feel that way when you work at one of the best pizza places I've ever been to!?
Danielle
The pizza is great but oh my god, this place has the best coffee. I know it's a weird thing to add to a review, but I'm kind of a coffee snob and I'm usually really disappointed when I order coffee in restaurants, but not here! They don't mess around with their coffee let me tell you! I don't remember what kind of pizza I ordered but I went with my friends and we ordered 3 to share and they were all really good. The place is SUPER small though. Everyone is crammed together and it's uncomfortable. I'm definitely going back again though! I gotta have that coffee again! and the pizza of course ;)

My friend and I planned to go for supper at 7:30 on a Thursday. I had never been to UNA, so I didn't expect it to be too busy, on a Thursday. I was wrong, there was an hour wait for 2 people!

Fortunately, National is just a short walk to have some good atmosphere and good beer. In roughly an hour we were called, and a spot at the bar opened up for us.

Let me tell you, the wait was worth it! We had meatballs as an appetizer. They were large, and tasty. But nothing special - too be honest the whole time I was kind of hoping they were mozzarella filled (I love cheese). For our meal, us two girls shared a pizza, (we had partially filled up from our ciders at National). We got the 4-Magi pizza, and was it ever delicious!!! It was nothing like any other pizza I had before! It had honey and cheese (two of my favourite things!!). I find it hard to believe they might have pizza's that I like even more!!

I am already anticipating going again!

Great Atmosphere; small but cozy; busy, and a bit on the louder side; delightful food and staff.

The place was kind of loud, and a bit narrow. The pizza was really really good with a thin crust and delicious toppings. The coolest thing was that they had an audio book of Harry Potter that read to you in the washroom. It actually kinda scared me because I was wondering why I was hearing a dude's voice in the women's washroom.

I really want to be more positive about this place as the food is so good but the service lets it down. I came here with some colleagues from work this evening and I think we got the most miserable, unhelpful server in the whole of Calgary. She just couldn't be bothered.
The food was great though, really lovely pizza and desserts.
So sad that the service was so terrible, and we even got charged the compulsory gratuity for groups of 6 or more, which was a bit rich considering the service was so terrible.

We don't tend to go in the evening as the tables are too close for comfort and shouting across the table becomes appropriate. Rather, at 11:30 am opening, Sunday morning seems to suit our dining style better. Regardless of time of day, service as always great, and the food comes out rather quickly ready to win your heart.

our favorites:
Romesco Sauce - Cover your croustini with a combination of nutty, tomato-ey, zesty, flavour bound together with the smoothness of fresh mozzarella. This complexity of this sauce is amazing and still amazes me after ordering it so many times.
4-maggi pizza - the simpler the better with Una's pizzas. This one is a four cheese pizza topped with a noticeable, but not overpowering amount of honey and truffle oil. The crust crispy yet chewy, just like they make in italy.

my only disappointment were the meatballs which were a bit dense and dry.
(time to visit again as the romesco sauce is no longer on the menu)

This is probably my favorite place to go for pizza. Out of all the pizzas I've tried here, my favorite has to be the 4-maggi. I often tease the friends who order a cheese pizza but at Una, I have to bite my tongue. It's not your typical Pizza Hut or Domino's style pizza. I love that the crust is thin, delicate and not chewy. I would highly recommend this place for casual dining or even for a date. Some things to keep in mind though: it's a first-come-first-serve (the line can get really long on a weekend night) and the place is tiny (can get really loud, really fast).

Pizza is my all time favourite food and this place delivers some pretty great pizza. We ordered the beltline, salami and ham and pineapple. The beltline was the best - an intriguing mix of bacon and maple syrup on a pizza which worked so well - would definitely order it again. The other two were basic but still delish. The restaurant is on point -clean, well styled and has a happy upbeat environment. Only negative point - the service was very slow, we waited for a long time to order, for the food to come out and to pay our bill.

In all - will definitely be back.

The pizzas are so tasty! In the heart of the red mile, Una satisfies me everytime! I had the seasonal peach cheesecake in a jar and it was just phenomenal! What a gem!

Never, ever disappoints. (Mouth is watering as I type). Fun, accommodating staff. Consistent quality food. My go to for out of town guests. See you shortly! 😏

I’ve been meaning to try this place and finally got a chance over the long weekend when they weren’t that busy as most people were out of town. Last time I tried coming here it was a 2 hour wait so we decided to go elsewhere. Well, we should have waited last time as it was worth it.

Doesn’t compare to real Italian pizza, but it is the closest thing you will find in Calgary. The ingredients are very fresh, and the pizzas full of unique flavours. You have to try the pizza here – in fact the menu is cutely divided between “pizza” and “not pizza”.

The décor and clients are quite trendy. Water is $2/person, get the sparkly – it’s quite good. Will definitely be coming back again.

Good wine and pizza is one of my favourite things to do to end a Sunday (also Netflix :) I've been here a few times and each time the pizza and service is good and consistent. Una pizza and wine will be in my rotation of places I return too.
Theresa
The location is in the heart of 17th so the wait to be seated is always a little longer than what they expect. But once you're seated, you're set. From amateur to avid pizza lovers, there will be a pizza that satisfies your taste buds. The meatballs are always a great appetizer to start with.

Good place to go get some authentic Italian pizza! It was so busy that I had to put my name on the waiting list and they called me. It was great, but the service just okay. I kinda understand it was hard to give a really nice service to each customer cuz it was busy.

Una used to be my #1 pizza place in Calgary, it's now a close second (Bocce took the 1st spot). That said, the pizzas are really really good here, they have specials pretty much every day and I love the Kale Caesar Salad... I could have it every day!
The only downside I can think of is that when you order over the pizza, when you get there the pizza is already cold 4 times out of 5... so I just eat there instead.
On top of that, they have a nice (yet tiny) patio, they are open until 1am so your late 'za craving can always be taken care AND they update their twitter to let you know how big the line is. Try it and you'll keep coming back!

Came in one afternoon to an almost empty restaurant and was promptly seated. I had a latte which I found to be poorly made but the skill that was lacked in the latte was made up for with our wonderful pizzas and the great conversations we had with our waitress. Love the decor and would recommend the margarita pizza to all you lovies!

I was busy studying for finals this week, so John was oh so very kind and went to Una to grab some takeout! Our household rarely indulges on pizza so we were quite excited! John was overwhelmed by the delicious aromas as the pizzas were presented to him. After a quick drive home, they were all still hot and fresh!

This restaurant was delicious!!!! It's pizza was really great and so was the kale salad! I loved how the crust was thin! I thought some of the items on the menu were a bit more on the pricy side. However the server was kind and the food arrived at a decent time! Definitely would go back :)

We had a wonderful date night here! The staff are very friendly and you can tell its a great work environment. I have had a number of their Pizzas and would recommend any of them! I also would recommend the meat balls to start, so good! We also sat at the bar and honestly I would choose that over a table again, the bar staff were so fun to watch and chat with and really added to the experience. Looking forward to returning again!

I dont think it is as good as people say it is.However the location is really good. The pizza's are very good but I dont like anything else on their menu.Their salads and the one pasta they have was really gross. My favorite is the mushroom pizza.

I highly suggest the prosciutto pizza!! What a treat.

I've never been a big fan of thin crust pizza, but this stuff was delish! The cheesecake as well was amazing. A bit too cheesy for me to finish alone, but great to share.

Other than the size of the place, everything was great! Servers were insanely friendly, and I was shoving food down my throat despite how full I was.

We absolutely adore Una and it is one of our go-to's. The haloumi cheese appetizer is our favourite starters, we usually get the mushroom pizza or 4 cheese pizza but have enjoyed everything we have tried there so far!
The service is to die for and the staff seems to genuinely enjoy their jobs, although the wait time can be longer than we would like. All in all we have never had anything short of a great experience at Una and recommend it to all of our friends.
